When he announced that the office of the "First lady" will cease to exist  if he won the elections three things Happened :

1. Those who saw the office as a waste of public resources switched camps and aligned with him ‎

2. Those who saw the  "overbearing" influence of the former first lady screamed the messiah has come!!!!

3.those who simply wanted GEJ out because of his wife found a leader in the retired general.  

Believe it or not that statement gave him a good number of votes 


However,   Like the Promise of 20,000 megawatts vanished with a simple statement from Lai Mohammed and the Public assets declaration metamorphosed into an APC promise, the pledge not to have an office for the first Lady has all but disappeared.

The Punch Newspapers this week reported that unknown to public the Hajia Aisha Buhari who moved into the Villa before her husband had since  taken over the office of the first lady with full parafenlia and retinue of aides.

The deception was further taken to another level when the President secretly appointed Hajo Sani as Senior Special assistant for an office he promised not to entertain under his administration.
 Even when confronted with the facts Femi Adeshina and Garba Shehu were unable to provide explanations as to why they refused to announce the appointment until it was leaked to the public.
The only change that has taken place is the change in nomenclature from first Lady to Wife of the President. 

This post election change  in behavioural pattern raises a lot of questions

1 . Does changing goal post after election amounts to obtaining votes by false pretence?

2. Does re defining electoral promises by one party after hoodwinking the other party  to do its bidding amount to a betrayal of trust ?

3. Does a man who could not keep his own words have the moral right to ask others to do so ?

Why will a President who has previously declared an office unconstitutional turn around to allocate public funds and appoint senior public officers to an office that he promised to scrap? 


For the antagonists I have these few words....

This thread is not about Wailing far from it 

1. It's about asking a Party and an individual to keep the Promises and pledges they made to Nigerians 

2. It's about asking a man who many claim is a man of honour to do what is Honourable 

3. Is about asking all those who chanted change to see beyond party sentiments, ethnic or religious affiliation and stand for the truth even when it hurts

I'm not Igbo but statements like this are better off not made. There's a lot of tension in this country right now and it would've bn better if he didn't reply at all than this

I've said it before that if I were a leader, If rather consult my worst critics on certain issues than surround myself with those that always sing my praise no matter what I do. Buhari has made some moves that are clearly wrong by all standards but these sycophants don't seem to see any.

In many Countries, the issue of Bride price has been known to be a well grounded factor in determining your franchise over the lady.

In some parts of the world, this issue has been blown beyond proportion that huge money is usually asked by the Bride's parent and many suitors see this as very discouraging.

The amazing fact is that if you ask anyone why a bride price must be paid,they will be very quick to answer that GOD commanded it and even our pastors are quick to lay emphasis on this as a condition that must be met before a man and woman can be said to be married before GOD.

But is Bride price really a condition necessary for marriage? Can we say you are really married even if bride price have not been paid? Did GOD specifically lay down this as a law or was it man made tradition? Can Bride price be paid at anytime during the course of the couple living together as Man and wife? and is it proper for the bride's parents to present a list or ask for monetary bride price from the groom's family?

These shocking truths from the very Bible people use as yardstick for bride price will clear the air.


1. Bride price was never a commandment from GOD as a condition for marriage but only as a penalty for rape and in fact, you can still pay the Bride price and still be denied the woman to be your wife by the Father.

Lets read this from the book of exodus 22:16-17:
"If a man seduces a virgin who is not pledged to be married and sleeps with her, he must pay the bride-price, and she shall be his wife.If her father absolutely refuses to give her to him, he must still pay the bride-price for virgins."

Deuteronomy 22:28-29: "If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, he shall pay her father fifty shekels[a] of silver. He must marry the young woman,for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.


2.Monetary bride is to be paid only on a virgin provided the man has slept with her before he decides to marry her but if the man has never slept with her,there should be no need to pay a dime on her.(Read again Exodus 22:16-17 above)


3.Even if a man meets a virgin and defiles her and decides to marry her,no man is expected to pay more than 50shekels of silver as a penalty and according to Google research, 50 shekels of silver is just about 15usd today so what is this madness going on where in some places a man is asked to pay hundreds and thousands for a lady who have probably slept with many men.

4.There was never ever a place in the Bible where GOD commanded the bride's parent to present a list but it is the groom's responsibility to bring whatever he dims fit for the lady he wants to marry.

The great example in the Bible was Isaac's marriage to Rebekah who was a virgin and there was no monetary exchange or penalty whatsoever between the two families but affordable gifts were giving to Rebekkah's family by Abraham but not demanded for by Rebekkah's family. Read Genesis 24:52-54.

5. Bride price according to the bible is all about virgins and all the references and bible verses all point to paying a penalty for defiling a virgin as well as giving gifts as Abraham did to Rebekah who also happen to be a virgin.

Genesis 24:15-16:Before he had finished praying, Rebekah came out with her jar on her shoulder. She was the daughter of Bethuel son of Milkah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor.The woman was very beautiful, a virgin; no man had ever slept with her. She went down to the spring, filled her jar and came up again.

6.Payment of monetary bride price on ladies generally whether virgins or non virgins is a tradition and not a direct commandment from GOD and in some countries like india,its a woman that actually pays a dowry on the groom and not the other way round.


7.Presenting list or asking for monetary bride price from a man who conscientiously marries a lady is man made rule and not from GOD hence becomes a sin because its better to obey GOD rather than men.

Acts 5:29:Peter and the other apostles replied: "We must obey God rather than human beings!

Conclusively i would advice that we just flow with the fun fare and traditions of the land and pay the bride price to either the Father of the Bride or the Mother of any lady we want to marry even if she is a LovePeddler.

Nevertheless.outrageous monetary bride price or list must be discouraged because it is not even Biblical in the first place but only necessary to obey customs and traditions.

Even Prophet Mohamed(May the peace of GOD be upon him) has this to say:

"the most blessed marriage is one in which the marriage partners place the least burden on each other" (al-Haythami, Kitab ab-Nikah, 4:255).

Overwhelmed by the new anti-corruption agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari, the 36 state governors have rushed to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) to declare their assets.

The bureau has, however, started investigation of the claims in the assets declaration forms of the governors.

None of the governors has chosen to make the list of assets public.
But the probe of the declared assets might take some months to complete.

It was, however, learnt last night that the CCB is expecting all the governors to close down their foreign accounts.

An advisory has gone to the governors and their deputies in line with the Fifth Schedule, Part 1 on Code of Conduct for Public Officers.

According to findings by our correspondent, all the 36 governors have declared and submitted their assets forms.

The response was said to be “unprecedented” by a source in the CCB despite the fact that the governors have up to three months to do so.
The constitution says: “The bureau shall have power to receive declaration by public officers made under paragraph 12 of part 1 of the Fifth Schedule to this Constitution.

“Subject to the provision of this Constitution, every public officer shall within three months after the coming into force of this Code of Conduct or immediately after taking office and thereafter (a) at the end of every four years; and (b) at the end of his term of office, submit to the Code of Conduct Bureau a written declaration of all his properties, assets and liabilities and those of his unmarried children under the age of eighteen years.”

A reliable source in the CCB said: “From our compilation so far, all the governors have declared their assets. This is the first time we are experiencing full compliance by the governors because of the anti-corruption policy of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“In spite of the fact that the law allows the governors to declare their assets within three months, they have all rushed to fulfil this constitutional obligation.

“I think they were all responding to the spur of the moment on anti-graft war. We are happy that the governors have emulated the President and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.”

Responding to a question, the source said: “Our law forbids us from disclosing the assets of any public officer, but from what is in our custody, none of the 36 governors has less than N100million assets.

“Some of them are worth billions of naira in their declaration forms.”

But the CCB has started verifying the assets of the governors to find out whether or not they were truthful in their assets declaration forms.

The top official of the CCB added: “We have started investigation of the claims of the governors to ascertain whether they are real or bogus. We will also try to find out if any of the governors padded his assets or not.

“The verification is going to be a painstaking exercise because the law is very strict on false declaration.

“It also requires huge overhead to move around the country to verify some of these assets. The only luck we have is that we have offices in most states of the federation.”

After the declaration, the constitution empowers the bureau to take the following steps.
They are: “Examine the declarations in accordance with the requirements of the Code of Conduct or any law.

“Retain custody of such declarations and make them available for inspection by any citizen of Nigeria on such terms and conditions as the National Assembly may prescribe.

“Ensure compliance with and, where appropriate, enforce the provisions of the Code of Conduct or any law relating thereto.

“Any statement in such declaration that is found to be false by any authority or person authorized in that behalf to verify it shall be deemed to be a breach of this code.

“Any property or assets acquired by a public officer after any declaration required under this constitution and which is not fairly attributable to income, gift, or loan approved by this code shall be deemed to have been acquired in breach of this code unless the contrary is proved.”

“Receive complaints about non-compliance with or breach of the provisions of the Code of Conduct or any law in relation thereto. Investigate the complaint and, where appropriate, refer such matters to the Code of Conduct Tribunal.”

Meanwhile, all the governors and their deputies are expected to close down their foreign bank accounts in compliance with the Fifth Schedule, Part 1 on Code of Conduct for Public Officers.

The CCB official said: “The closure of foreign bank accounts is mandatory for these governors, deputy governors, and many elected members of the legislature and public officers.

“In fact, if anyone is found still maintaining his or her foreign accounts, he or she will be arraigned before the Code of Conduct Tribunal. Where such a public officer enjoys immunity, he or she will face trial after leaving office.”

The constitution says: “The President, Vice President, Governor, Deputy Governor, Ministers of the Government of the Federation and Commissioners of the Governments of the States, members of the National Assembly and the Houses of Assembly of the states and such other public officers or persons as the National Assembly may by law prescribe shall not maintain or operate a bank account in any country outside Nigeria.”
