Being thrifty is good but not for essential items that'll improve the quality of one's life. The guy's taking this too far. Unless he's broke.
@op: would you have any issues with your misus purchasing any of these items herself with her own money? Oya o answer. African Bush man |

EfemenaXY: ***Rolls eyes...***
Why not just admit you're too broke to afford one?
To your fiancée if she's reading this: Madam, your partner-to-be Mr Donpata, has shown himself to be a tight/fisted broke guy hiding under the guise of being a "traditionalist". If you're working and can afford it, go get yourself a washing machine, dishwasher, tumble dryer, Hoover, and a gas / electric cooker. I just bought myself a top end double oven & grill and can't even begin to tell you how much easier & faster it's made my cooking experience. na im type go dey price pomo 3 for 20naira and be counting the pomo in the pot of soup every morning |

Preach it Nothing more to add dasparrow: At the rate with which you Nigerian bred men don't live long going by the large percentage of widows in Nigerian society, I cannot blame women who seek to earn a decent living just in case you Nigerian bred men kick bucket suddenly. Nigerians don't have life insurance and its heart breaking to see all the poverty stricken Nigerian widows looking emaciated while they figure out how to feed their battalions of children with their husbands gone. I see them struggling for bags of rice and yam in this festive period to feed all their hungry mouths at home.
When the average life expectancy rate in Nigeria goes from a current 52 years - according to the United Nations - to 80 years or more, then we can discuss choosing family over career. After all, it takes money to raise a family and provide the children with a decent standard of living. Or would you prefer more Nigerian girls grow up to be runz girls and Nigerian boys grow up to be 419 scammers and ritualists due to their poverty stricken background? |
