Enenche, who cut short his journey to Kebbi State to visit the grieving community, described the attack as “devastating and heartbreaking.”

The cleric, alongside his wife, extended his condolences to other Benue communities, including Apa, Agatu, Otukpo, Gwer West, and others, that have recently suffered similar assaults.

He called on relevant authorities to take decisive action to end the recurring menace.

“We were in Europe last week when we received the news. It was very disheartening, painful and devastating. We couldn’t return immediately, but once we got back, we knew we had to come physically,” Enenche said.

Seriake Dickson, the former governor of Bayelsa State has slammed President Bola Tinubu over the state of emergency and suspension of Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State.

Speaking while commemorating the 26th Democracy Day celebration, Dickson said President Tinubu cannot be marking democracy while suppressing it in Rivers state.

He said, “Of all days, why did the president and the Senate President choose today being a democratic day in Nigeria to read all those undemocratic and unconstitutional and illegal communications to the National Assembly.”

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom state has clapped back at actor/politician, Kenneth Okonkwo, who in a recent interview , described him as a ‘’political transgender' and one who behaves like a man but has the genitals of a woman.

Okonkwo stated this while expressing his disappointment at the governor over his recent defection from the PDP to the APC and the reason he gave for the defection.

President Bola Tinubu has openly signaled his readiness to receive the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike into the All Progressives Congress (APC) should he decide to switch parties from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking during the commissioning of Arterial Road N16 in Abuja’s Katampe District, Tinubu applauded Wike’s contributions to governance and jokingly referenced the former Rivers governor’s popular campaign slogan.

“We have somebody—Nyesom Wike—he is not a member of my party (APC), not yet. But the day he changes his mind and registers with the progressives, we will welcome him. Because we will enjoy singing ‘as e dey pain dem, e dey sweet us,’” Tinubu said, drawing laughter from the crowd and Wike himself.

Former Governor of Ekiti State and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ayo Fayose, has declared that he would never leave the PDP for any political party, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite his belief in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

The former governor explained that his visit to Tinubu was personal, adding that the President needs to be encouraged to continue what he is doing for Nigerians.

“No one is saying it’s easy, but there’s no miracle that can turn around things overnight.

“For the little the President has done, we must commend him. I was a one-time critic of the last administration, but you cannot compare the situation now.

Former Anambra State Governor and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has criticised the Tinubu administration’s focus on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, arguing that such large-scale infrastructure projects should not take precedence over addressing Nigeria’s insecurity and economic fragility.

Obi questioned whether it was logical to commit vast resources to the several infrastructural projects that will “lead nowhere when we have crisis.”
“Are you saying that the coastal road is more important than securing Nigeria?” he asked.

Obi stressed that security and production are the foundations of any functional economy. Without securing the country, he said, even the most ambitious infrastructure would amount to a misplaced priority.

He said, “The roads we have all over the country are no more durable. You fix those roads first and use your resources to secure your country. Security is far more fundamental than roads. Would you prefer a road to your village when you cannot drive to your village? If you prefer, let us do what we are doing. So if you say our problem is insecurity, they can’t go to farm, our problem is power, let’s deal with those things.”

“We are a government. We must secure our people, and it requires decisive action,” he added.
