ValeeLove: I've heard this over and over again. If the western fans will not speak the truth, at least African fans should. No 1, she doesn't need a useless belt to solidify a legacy. Her legacy looks good winning belts that actually matter (women world title). Cena is the greatest of all time, he's not a grandslam champ, and he's far bigger than Miz - a 2-time grandslamer. Am I making sense here? No 2, it is literally illogical for her to win a developmental belt since she is no longer a developmental wrestler. She is an established one, and a veteran for that matter. Hope you get? No 3, Tiffany does not need to lose to Becky in NXT to get elevated. Simply working her way up to get to the main roster and possibly eventually beating Becky up there will do the job. Plus that way she gets to do it with more than 1 million people watching. Also, it solidifies her properly as that way she actually earns it. Right now, anyone in NXT can get to face a main roster guy, and that's not fair and a good way to rate NXT guys. Tiffany has to work her way up to the main roster to prove she can earn a match with the likes of Becky, is what I'm saying. Is that simple enough? No 4, this match and win has diminished Becky's status, even if it's a bit. She now wrestles in dev brands with dev wrestlers, for dev belts, with just 1 million people watching; instead of her wrestling for the world titles in big PPVs. This is sad. No 5, about the ratings boost WWE fans just can't shut up about; it's a one night thing, after she's gone, they'll return back to their usual. Is that truly a win? WWE should be concerned with making long lasting wins for NXT. Decisions that will earn them long term high ratings, not a one night thing.
It's funny you chose to use the biggest star since the attitude era to buttress your point? How many wrestlers are bigger than cena at this point?
You're the one advocating for a sports based show. Na still you dey say winning more titles by being a grandslam champion is meaningless. Please pick a side.
Don't Brazilian footballers who have competed at the highest level go back their domestic league?
Becky Lynch winning the nxt title is a win-win situation. She adds a championship to her list of accomplishments, while the network gains ratings.
Do you know that Nxt used to air only on the wwe network app before it began airing on a TV channel called USA network? USA network pays them millions to air Nxt show on its network.
Views drive ratings. Ratings attract brands who pay the TV channel to show their products via ads placements.
You're wailing that Becky appearing on Nxt diminishes her status but is she complaining? It doesn't taint her legacy one bit. She started there, it's a homecoming experience for her. What of the NXT audience who can't travel to raw or smack down to see her compete. What of the members of the Nxt roster who haven't had the chance to interact with her or ask her for advice?
You think it's an easy fit to have a million viewers watching a wrestling show on TV in this age of youtube and myriad of Internet streaming services.
When last did AEW hit a million viewers on Dynamite and collision despite having CM Punk, MJF, Samoa Joe, Sting etc
Have you thought about this?
Everybody is an expert on booking shows on the Internet. Give them Simple sunday school program to organise, they go fumble.
You're missing the point bro. They already had one before. Snobby Liverpool fan wrestlers who berate the audience before their match. They even had the mufflers to match and a catchphrase. What Nxt did instead was a total overhaul of their gimmick. There are good and bad gimmicks. Everyone can't be serious badasses who don't talk and act tough. It ain't ufc and will never be to the general audience. All they see is men in tights playing fight no matter how sports-like you want it to be. How are diving moves performed again? You lie down and wait for someone to jump on you. How about Irish whips? You throw someone to the ropes and he comes back at you a la looney tunes cartoon. Wrestling involves suspension of disbelief to make it work. The performance is already a gimmick in itself
ValeeLove: another proof that gimmicks don't work.
Jade is a draw based on her looks alone but the wrestling leaves much to be desired. If she ends up going to WWE then their Performance centre may help her improve but that's a long shot.
Grizzled Young veterans were one of the best tag teams from NXT UK. Zack Gibson could really hold his own on the mic drawing boos from the crowd, while James Drake was the better worker of the duo. The strange repackaging as smiling cultists in the Dyad did em no favours. It's interesting to see where they end up. AEW is crowded atm while impact could be a good fit.
I heard she gave nxt their highest rating in three years eclipsing even Seth title defence on the brand. My only peeve is the timing as Tiffany Stratton had barely defended against credible challengers despite holding the title since may. Thea Hail isn't quite there yet. Kiana James was a head scratcher as a contender.
Fair enough. I'd take it over another fast and family sequel
abduleez1: Everyone has a muse. Believe it or not there's no story under the sun that's NEW these days. Nothing you wanna tell that's not been done before. So anything as reinventing the wheel, a touch of variety and dynamism is very much appreciated. This or you're very okay with IPs, sequels and prequels.
I'm not really enthused after the bitter experience I had with fifa23 on pc last year. Due to the constant anticheat error which prevents the game from running, as well as having to setup your controller preference each time you boot the game.
Person wey dey write thesis and dissertation over folks fighting titans with nothing but wire for waist and cutlass have a hard time believing a character which has battled aliens since 1960's is believable.
'Pro' Wrestling doesn't have a central governing body that dictates dress code unlike real sports. Joshis in Japan and men let their hair down. Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey are the worst examples to use in butressing your point. Have you seen their eye makeup? Shayna Bazler also lets her hair down mid match before she stomps her opponents elbows. As long as it doesn't impede on their performance. This should be the least of complains looking at how they've progressed from the era of bra and panties matches.
ValeeLove: I mentioned the men also. It's really not that hard. Ronda and Shayna don't wear makeup and pack their hair to a match because they have a background in real legit sport, so they know how to act. The only reason wrestling producers do these things is cos they are taking advantage of the fact that it's 'fake'. You can't try it in a real sport. So there goes the problem - because it's fake, it should not make sense - hence pro-wrestling looks phoney. The Biancas and Charlottes you're referring to will still pack their hairs and go with a clean face to the gym. So you see. Na hypocrisy.
This is due to shoddy booking on part of WWE. It shouldn't be termed as that any more due to fact that another title exists. MY guess is they will quietly drop the 'undisputed' part later and term it as WWE championship as they did in 2002.
ValeeLove: Someone should help me by answering this; how is it still Undisputed when there is another world champion in the same company?
It was done on purpose in order to simulate that real sports feel for the purists watching . On a serious note. These things happen from time to time hence, performers can be excused except they have a repeated history of being unsafe like Nia Jax
ValeeLove: well atleast Rhea didn't try to do it with one arm.
I come in peace but why does almost all of the 9 episodes have female led characters on the forefront. Isn't this suppose to be an anthology series? Where is the balanced representation
abduleez1: Amazon's pricey Spy thriller is here executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo. 😉 Interestingly it's the 2nd most expensive TV show of all time behind fellow Prime original LOTR: RoP. With a $300mn budget it sits comfortably in second and has already been renewed for S2.
