Glite: http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/industry_sectors/telecoms/article5144780.ece
BT today revealed plans to cut 10,000 jobs by the end of the year after pre-tax profits slumped by 11 per cent in the first six months of the year.
Today's surprise cut by the former state-owned telecoms operator means almost 15,000 British jobs have been lost within the past three days, after Virgin Media, Yell and GlaxoSmithKline took the axe to staff.
Yesterday, it emerged that British unemployment hit an 11-year high of 1.82 million during the three months to September and is forecast to peak at 3.3 million by 2011.
Mervyn King, the Governor of the Bank of England, finally acknowledged this week that the UK was heading for a full-blown recession, and signalled further interest rate cuts on top of the 1.5 per cent reduction last Thursday.
Soon everybody in UK will have no job and will be receiving owobaba But how will they fund owobaba when there are no more useful immigrants (not cleaners) that they can tax to death ? I wonder o ;system meltdown coming . The party is over , the last Nigerian there please don't forget to turn off the lights when you are leaving
@angeleyz I am not a prophetess of doom , merely stating the obvious with my eyes wide open (shine your eyez well) and have i not been proved right within a few days ? Next time when I speak listen to me and don't think because I say bad things about UK it is because I hate the place or they didn't give me visa, who wants visa to stay inside sinking ship anyway ? stop bitching babe, rate of unemployment in UK is far negligible compared to nigeria's rate of unemployment. unemployed people in nigeria should be over 60 million. prove me wrong please |

A-town: To everyone saying he is intelligent-----------------something is wrong with you. He is an absolute disgrace and all he did was identity theft and cyber crimes that can be committed by anybody. Its just that sane and educated people know better. Trust me, Nigerians will soon be barred from going to the US. I think i may have seen the guy somewhere in houston a couple years back. This is just a slice of the crime being committed by Nigerians in the US. These IBO boys have turned Houston to a nightmare for Nigerians. From real estate fraud, cheque frauds, to outright burglary. They are all over sugarland and southwest looking for innocent people to scam. I am not tribalistic but the negative image most of these IBO boys in houston have painted on Nigerians is nasty. Bro, its not a tribal thing, we've lots of scammers in every tribe ok. n am yoruba ok, maybe u should come to woolwich in london to see nigerians that are scammers, u will see more yoruba than any other tribe |

JamaicanQT: I'm pretty sure that they hate that BLACK PERSON is president, we all know how the rich and famous white circle are total snub and racist, I'm sure that country like germany and russia must hate obama well said, racism is far more prevalent in the UK more than in US. tpia: actually, people did get rather bored after a while.
as per the original question: obama couldnt have been elected without UK approval. To be candid with you, Obama won the election because majority of the americans crave for change. Do you know that cameron of the tories said this is not time for a novice? Who was he referring to? Obama of course. If UK was a determinant factor in the election, they would have preferred mccain. Dis Guy: Why do you think so? What i think is that the people got bored as they are obviously not used to the money, time and coverage involved in this election or should i say the american election as usual it was like forever!!! elections in the UK are usually short compared to the american election, the debates blah blah and to be honest the british media made a meal of it, if anything they supported Obama all the way!! Even Gordon Brown made a slip when he wrote about Obama's progressive ideas. . . Election in UK is far boring compared to US. Gordon Brown just does not have a choice and that the british system. Do you think tony blair really liked w. bush? if u think so then juz get the autobiography of cherie blair u will get to understand the british government |

Ifygurl: My Question to you is what have you done to improve Nigeria? What achievement have you done to improve Nigeria? People saying that Nigeria is getting better that the road are getting fixed but yet the reason it's getting better is because of Nigerian aboard coming home and helping to fix Nigeria up. I know this Nigerian surgeon that moved back to Nigeria after 12 years of being a suregeon in America. In the side he stays act, the treatment there are getting better because of him and few other people. He said he stayed in America for 12 years because he wanted to practice on Americans till he becomes a great surgeon(and he is, so at least we can say we didn't get a bad suregon right? LOL)
Anyway
What are you doing to help Nigeria? Or are you sitting in a chair sipping coca cola waiting for others to fix that country up and then you run back to Nigeria expecting to take in the benefit of other people's work?
It took America about 180 years before it became what it is. After their independence from Britian; it took them awhile to fix their country and not only that; the Slaves made America want it is today.
For Germany, their people fixed up that country after world war 2. For alot of other countries, both the government and the people help fix their country.
Now i ask Nigerians that complain about this and that. What have you people done to help Nigeria, other than your family in Nigeria. What contribution have you done?
I'm 18 years old but i told myself, i'll help Nigeria when i'm old enough and had my degree.
To me if your a Cab driver or whateva aboard. Then stay aboard, ain't nothing you can teach Nigerians. Hell you should come back, Nigerians can teach you something about how to drive a cab, LOL i might be a cab driver, its a possibility but am not. today i can call myself a professional in my chosen field. what is the system like there? does the existing system permit one to change things? does the system provide the basic amenities to kickstart the assistance required of us? what is the state of electricity, roads, water, infrastructure like? what is the present percentage of unemployment at the moment? in reality do u think the country is moving forward, stagnant or backwards? no doubt the present system sucks believe me, definitely nigeria will be my beloved country but i am not ready to stake my future yet for a country thats in no way ready to move forward. nigerians are rated the happiest people on earth when it is wallowing in poverty, what does it mean to you? believe me i have helped in my little way to develop nigeria for a full year. |

FBS: na wa o, does the topic say britain is better than Naija or Naija is better than britain, does it say it is better to be born british or to be born as a Nigerian? Have you forgotten that no one chooses where he or she is given birth to? that one is born even in space don't mean shit. you don't have 2 heads or do you?
everyone wants a good life and you can get that any where because the definition of "good life" means different things to different people.
People Migrate and will continue to and for different reasons.
I think the aim of the poster is to tell the story the way it is. That even though it is britain, it can also be full of shaite.
That said, can we kindly just stay on the subject of the thread?
@pafun: you must be a happy man. you are doing a wonderful job. dude i believe the poster's notion or rather the way he presented his argument connotes that. being born british is full of advantages with not evident disadvantage, that does not mean i am british but would have rather loved to be, nevertheless it shouldn't connote i hate being nigerian, i love it and won't trade it now but i hate the system because its useless and stinks disgustingly and sometimes i feel like puking. |
Travel › Re: Ugly Britain by samix(m): 7:29am On Oct 30, 2008 |
reindeer: its so sad what i even find more worrisome is the way some Nigerians(either they like it or not, its in their blood) are having fits defending an adopted country on a hilarious thread, with attitudes like that, their country will never get better and their grand children will be born into a country where the best they'll be are 'immigrants' Its not about being immigrants or called one, its all about getting a good life which seems practically unachievable for a magnanimous percentage of nigerians living at home. I would prefer my kids to be born british to been born as nigerians because of the inevitable fact, the numerous oppurtunities and advantages they have been british. what is good about NIGERIA? tell me, lots of things i believe but the bad things override the goodies available. have u ever had the oppurtunity of accessing the rating of nigeria in the world based on social amenities provided or rather available to its loving citizens. despite been rich we are still poor, can u explain that? no country is a bed of roses agreed but believe me nigeria is likeable to a bed of thorns. peace out |

@Reni: Its seems to me that most people who can't believe C.You produced 1st Class grad are actually 3rd class or 2-2. I am oppurtuned to be a first class of C.You, in engineering, and i know how i suffered, in school. There were times i cried because one Prof. J.C Ekeh, was unpredictable, there were time i gave up, with motivational words driving me, and the truth is that once you know the secret of sucess, then you can't fail. to be a 1st class in C.You is achieveable. 1. Treat your Mid-semester test and assignments seriously infact more serious than final exams as you have half semester load, which accounts for 40% of the entire grade in a course. Its easy to get 30 over 40 in C.A. The rest is for exams, a starts from 70, so over 60 you are looking for 40 which is just 67percent. Most people neglect the C.A and kill themselves for exam thus getting B's instead of A's. And who said first class student should be confined to the class, i think thats a shallow thought that should not be let to see the light of day. The only reason why i taught in school, was because i wanted more people to make first class, 2 -1 and depopulate 2-2 and 3rd class. I love solving problems which i beleive other colleagues of mine love. I know prof. J.C Ekeh back in Ambrose Alli Uni, i was his student then, he's a corrupt human being. i hope he didnt bring corruption(blocking) to CU as well ooo |
