Tony Spike: The frequency of rape is getting so worrisome these days...The frequency of rape |
kaorama: This should be no too much arguement about the visit. There is no way GEJ will be in Ogun state on a condolence visit to Abati family without seeing OBJ. That is courtesy and respect. We must learn to appreciate those who have gone ahead of us in the same field of life. And that is what Amechi will soon learn in a hard way.In what ways please? |

We failed them. First thing first, the crashed plane by law was not supposed to be flown by Dana based on age. Isn't there a maximum age of 20 years for commercial planes. If this law was enforced, this tragedy could have been averted. No arrests has been made based on this. Why have laws we don't enforce. |
Using the code below. I'm assuming you have added an image control (ImageControl) and assigned and image to the control on your form. Also, I'm assuming you have created a sql server table with a column type of image. To save to SQL Server you have to save image to MemoryStream array(ms) then assign to SQL parameter value (image). Dim ms As New MemoryStream() Me.ImageControl.Image.Save(ms, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg) spCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("@image", ms.ToArray()) spCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() Your sql script look like this: INSERT INTO ImageTable(imagecol) VALUES (@image) Let me know if you have any more questions. |

If indeed Peter Obi made these remarks, he is heavily misguided and very unfit for the seat he occupies. |
Debate reopens on true federalism From Chuks Okocha in Abuja The increasing agitation for true federalism took centre stage yesterday when two governors spoke out at a public forum in Abuja. While Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State insisted that the national minimum wage is centrally imposed as most states do not have the wherewithal to pay, Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State argued that a state police has become imperative. Obi said with the direction of events, even drivers would soon start demanding minimum wage as laws are imposed on states from the centre contrary to the true practice of federalism. Re-echoing the imperative of a national conference, Obi said it is key in the discussion of the structure and enthronement of true federalism in the country. According to him, there is no midway into unitary system and true federation, stressing that “we are either a true federation or not. Let us state where we are. We cannot say that we are a true federation when I sit in office and someone orders me about from somewhere.” He used the Minimum Wage Act as an example, saying: “I argue against the minimum wage because there is nothing like the minimum wage anywhere in the world. There is nothing like the minimum wage in China, India, Malaysia, and United States of America. Life is not a buffet, but an a la carte. “There are no two places in Europe that two professors are paid the same salaries. Harvard professors earn 10 times more than the professors in Alabama. We must discuss, because very soon, drivers in the streets will gang up and ask for minimum wage,” he said. Obi also said that the revenue of the states is never the same, explaining that a state in the South-south earns more than what all the states in the South-east earn as revenue. According to Mimiko who was the guest speaker at the launch of a book, “Nigeria’s Golden Book published by the Sun Newspapers, citizens make varying demands on the states, all bordering on the absence of unfettered federalist practice. “Today, there is an overbearing centre, with beggarly and weak federating units. We agree that this can never augur well for comprehensive and sustainable good governance and enduring democracy. “We require purposeful leadership to reverse this situation and President Goodluck Jonathan should brace up to this challenge as a departure from the lukewarm attitude of previous leaders to the issue of true federalism. History beckons.” Mimiko, who called for state police, said: “Today, we run a centralised security system that impedes the gathering of intelligence and control of crime. It is a known fact that each society has a way of handling its deviants and miscreants. It is through the institutionalisation of local, community and communal means of apprehending and managing such that true security could be guaranteed.” He said: “Only a review of the constitution to allow the establishment of state police can move us at the right speed in combating crimes.” The Ondo State governor, while endorsing calls for a national conference, added that “we must be prepared for all-inclusive engagement. We must talk, by whatever name it is called. We must discuss our anxieties and build necessary consensus for the way forward. “We have said that there is a mutual reinforcing relationship between the skewed structure, elections and leadership. What should be added is that there are a set of manifestations of their combined effects on Nigeria." Former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, who chaired the book launch, charged Nigerians to ensure that the ship of state berths at a safe harbour. Abubakar lamented: "We fought a civil war for national unity between 1967 and 1970. Today, we are rocked by various kinds of national challenges, particularly on the security front. “But it behoves all of us to band together, put all hands on deck to ensure that the ship of state berths at a safe harbour. It is in that light that I see Nigeria’s Golden Book as a veritable effort at national unity and harmony.” The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, who was represented by the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Information, Hon. Victor Ogene, called on the governors that are against the operations of the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) to approach the court for redress. The speaker said: “The Sovereign Wealth Fund is a law of the federation passed by an Act of the National Assembly duly assented into law by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, therefore anyone that has any grouse against the operations of this act should seek redress from the court and in this case, the Supreme Court of Nigeria.” http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/obi-soon-drivers-8217-ll-ask-for-minimum-wage/99452/ |
You do have some blame but at the end of the day, the bank has a larger share of the blame. Although, you had the account number wrong, the teller was supposed to verify both name and account number. That is the reason they require you to provide that information when filling out a deposit form. I suggest to try to speak with the customer care manager at the branch location to have the transaction reversed and paid into the right account. As for the person who withdrew the money, the bank should sort it out with the individual. Basically, he/she will get the same amount debited from his account. Good luck. |

I would think the first thing to do is define Icon: One who is the object of great attention and devotion An important and enduring symbol SO, FELA IS AN ICON and A NATIONAL TREASURE. |
The problem of drug peddling is greater than a tribe. It's a Nigerian issue. This tribalism mess should really stop. The world knows and hates you as a Nigerian. Other African countries don't like Nigerians and yet within Nigeria, we hate each other. Maybe we should just implode the country and everyone can rest. ![]() |

ferdiii:Dell_net is right. They are seperated by syntax. To learn VB download Visual Studio Express: http://www.microsoft.com/visualstudio/en-us/products/2010-editions/visual-basic-express This link will get you started: http://vb.net-informations.com/ Also, will recommend you pick a simple task/app to complete. Learn the fundamentals but don't get too hung up on them. Your goal will be to complete the task as best as you can. It won't be perfect (none really is) but you'll learn a great deal and will improve with time. Also, most importantly is learn how to ask for help. Learning to articulate where you need help and ability to use GOOGLE will be your greatest asset. |
Ok. I have actually thought of that. But since I am a neophyte in the field of petroleum engineering, I am still at loss as to where programming is applied.
Well, I'd say that since you've already gotten yourself up and running with Programming, you should stick with petroleum engineering. As you learn more about the field, you can always check to see where you can apply your knowledge of programming. And trust me there will be plenty of them. It only means, you'd spend a lot of effort keeping up to speed with both but it will pay off well for you in the long run. |
Unfortunately, changing your major might not help much in improving your skills in programming depending on the university you are currently enrolled in. Also, think about the application of programming rather than just learning to program. I would suggest if possible, that you minor in programming and major in Petroleum Engineering. You should also continue to hone your skills in programming by developing solutions applicable to the petroleum engineering field. Those who have subject matter expertise in which to apply their programming or systems development skills to are always better off. The world of IT is now tightly intertwined with every facet of business in every industry. |
upendo 98:I like this especially the term "Balanced Christian". Lying or coming clean now equals to applying wisdom. This lady has justified every possible evil one can commit. So we are flesh which does not get saved. The spirit gets saved. Our flesh self finds resisting temptation hard. So when we commit evil because of our flesh's inability to resist temptation, it has HAPPENED. Shutting up is trouble. Confession is even worse trouble. We then apply wisdom. Until we are found out. Then just before we get stoned, we will be saved. Sorry, but this falls under the BS category in my flesh book. |
monkeyleg:Excellent point. |
iice:Cannot be said any better! I tried to make this point in the original post the OP is referring to. You've simply stated it and this is the truth! |
All these talks about shame. I believe she should tell the truth. Since none of us are really holier than the next, then we should all understand. Deal with the shame and time will heal. TELL THE TRUTH. There is always a reaction for every action taken so deal with your husband's decision. I hate the way people focus on this shame. We all have our skeletons in our closets but we continue to hide them because we want to appear holier than the next person. TELL HIM EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED, WHY YOU THINK IT HAPPENED, WHERE EXACTLY YOU ARE AT THIS POINT OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT YOU WILL LIKE TO SEE HAPPEN AND LET THINGS TAKE THEIR COURSE. Of course, he will run through various emotions including anger etc, allow him. It's his right. And believe it or not, you may not have quite dealt with the fact that he cheated because you are carrying a heavier weight that is clouding your thoughts. And you continue to have the affair because you are still unsettled with what to do about your predicament. You will continue to find an escape with the affair till you rightly deal with the main issue. Set fear aside and dialogue with him! And please, don't bother getting your pastor or priest or overseer or daddy or whatever it is you call the man in your pulpit involved. It's better you get your mum involved or close friend involved. You may seek counselling at church once you two have dialogued and you have discussed with your family and loved ones. |
omoekoni:Dangerous mindset. But stop hurting eh, and please, don't hurt others. |
LeoMax:I don't think the point of the video was to show VI WHERE YOU LIVE. What you call normal hustling might not be so normal. Maybe you should give it a try. |
