Desola:It is indeed ridiculous to ask "non indigenes" to leave. You using the term "migrants" is also quite misplaced. |
publisher:I guess we should just sweep bad news under the carpet altogether. If Aljazeera doesn't show the good new Oshodi, then take photos with your bb bold 10 and put it on facebook or nairaland. Write your own story or put links here on nairaland. In my opinion, our own journalists are not even doing enough investigative journalism. Official report says 2 lives were lost, Who is "officiating" the news ? |
The population of Lagos is more than the state can bear! Fashola should get all rid non-lagosians from Lagos!!!!, to many people from other states come to settle in Lagos and yet they are complaining, if they don't like it then go back to your state. I wish Lagos state can start issuing visa, seriously, if the only residents in Lagos are the original Lagosians, it would be a far better place but you have so many other people moving to Lagos daily, abeg its to much, you should all go back to your states and try to improve it instead of moving to Lasgidis!!!

The problem is more with people like you with half baked ideas and lazy brain syndrome approach of turning the country around. So, if you manage to get into power or you have the option to vote for someone campaigning on sending people away from Lagos, you'd jump in and support such nonsense. |
@Violent This is the best debate on this topic ever. I suppose the way you brought it forward set the tone for the responses. There are just those that believe every man that so declares himself a man of God should be allowed to do as they please without rebuke. And for the most part they are simply terrified on the though of being rational in the thoughts when it comes to "Men of God". I don't know where that fear was put in them. Could it be the thousands or millions of sunday school teachers that you see in every street corner church in Nigeria. The education and orientation we get in churches which educates more people than all levels of schools combined has really shaped our mentality in Nigeria. So Oyedepo and CO can continue to capitalize on it. In my opinion, they are taking advantage of people period but not BREAKING THE LAW. It now becomes a matter of conscience. Do they have one? @Kobo A pattern is emerging. I might finally get to start to begin the journey to scratching the surface of understanding you. Great points. |
Kobo's view point: Government should regulate. In the absense of regulation, companies are free to do as they please. ekt bear's view point: No government regulation. Companies are there to make money. The workers are not being forced to work. They can quit if they do not like the wages or organize and demand for better wages. Fhemmmy's view point: Companies are obligated to provide a company defined "decent working condition" since government might not be quite effective in regulation companies. All three viewpoints combined forms a responsible solution. There should always be balanced government regulation and enforcement e.g. setting minimum wage, good working conditions etc. A company is out to make money and is mostly obligated to it's shareholders. In most cases, they have the upper hand when dealing with their workers and not every group can fight for themselves. In the absence of government regulation, the workers should organize and demand better wages and working conditions. Other related parties: The society at large. Lawyers, human right groups, labour groups, individual citizens. We should not always be spectators when we hear about things like this. Every member of society has a duty to push for what is right. That is how we become better. It might be "them" today and you or yours tomorrow. With a vigilant society, companies are forced to adopt Fhemmy's viewpoint. We have to set standards as to what we can tolerate collectively. |
Do you have any duplex 3-4 bedrooms ensuite around Trans Amadi? Also, 3+ rooms of office space around stadium road/GRA/Trans Amadi? |
Wow, someone needs some serious therapy. Maybe this thread should be moved to the Health section. There are a few psychiatric doctors there. Or maybe to the Religion section, Exorcism is still an option. One Love! |
This tribal bashing must be a favorite past time for folks here on Nairaland. Abeg, guys take am easy o. We are more alike than different. |
Kobojunkie:Indeed what a question. I thought it was just a way of folks letting off steam on some sensitive issues that bother them. But I guess it really is skin deep. Oh well. While the fight goes on here, people are sensibly forging and maintaining inter-tribal relationship outside of the internet. You see the real world actually forces you to think before you speak/write. All, find ways to deal with the issues that bother you. Most times, the issues are really with you. |
Just curious, Do the yorubas here actually have Igbo friends? And the same question goes for the Igbos. I'm curious to know if these negative tribal sentiments are voiced only here on Nairaland. Is the dislike real? |
Sarcasm better than the ecstacy you feel for the death of those who gives no shiitte about you. Run along and go post another Ekiti thread/ any anti-yoruba thread ![]() Dumbite queen.
|
Can someone start a Post Presidential Debate poll? Couldn't figure out how to. |
9ijaMan:Well, thanks for at least trying. My drift continues to be that the man you are clamoring for has a dangerous well documented past. Iron fist rule is not the answer to Nigeria. |
9ijaMan:As much sense as your response. And what do you propose that the Buhari's govt will do as far as employees coming late to work? Sentence them to long terms in jail. If you don't like Ribadu's crowd (by that I guess you mean his political party affiliation), can you let us know Buhari's? His past records of brutality is exactly what we should be careful of. We might not know who his godfathers are for now but we know he had close association with Abacha (another gross human rights violator). What in the world is Buhari bringing to the table? Sure he can put us all in jail for indiscipline and tardiness but what else? |
GenBuhari:I am not a fan of Buhari. But I've read your posts and other Buhari supporters alike to try and make sense of the craze about him. But with your above comment, I urge you and his other supporters to re-think your candidate choice. These rants about indiscipline does not cut it. Nigeria is not a nation of animals waiting to be flogged into order. We need a systematic solution to our problems; not a gun or whip wielding leader to make us form straight lines, set the price of commodities, and ignore human rights. Nigeria does not need to re-live the times of Abacha. GUNS AND WHIPS are not the answer. Say not to a military style government. Say no to a brain lazy government (GEJ). To me, the most reasonable aspirant is Ribadu. |
The hatred for GEJ has really turned people to Buhari. Why not Ribadu? I strongly believe that Buhari's regime will be like a military regime. We have passed the era of using brute force to rule a nation. Long prison sentences and death sentences for crimes in a country is not the answer. Especially in a country where the court system is lagging. Everyone sees his "past accomplishments" which I quite don't get. But no one wants to take a look at this past human rights record. We hate the PDP but who constitutes the CPC. Do we know what kind of men are in the pack. ACN is a better choice. Do not go from one extreme to the other (GEJ-BUHARI). |
matooto:Can you explain to me how Ribadu is not clear about his calling. GEJ has lost the votes of a lot of people but I am just terrified at the movement of the people to Buhari. IS DISCIPLINE THE MOST PRESSING NEED OF NIGERIA? What are Buhari's positive records? He was a brutal dictator with no regards for human right. He believes in brute force instead of reasoning. We should stop the lazy brain syndrome in Nigeria. Death and fear is not the answer to everything. I still don't get the negatives of Ribadu. Can someone please tell me why people are so opposed to him? He seems to have the best team of people around him including the Progressing ACN. I am confident that he can run the country by enforcing the laws and constitution. A reduction in corruption and following due process will improve the business climate in Nigeria. Investments can be made and jobs will be created. His VP is a corporate titan. They both are civil. This team in my opinion is the winning team. |
Of course, this law will only affect normal Nigerian business men and not the real culprits (politicians). |
I agree that the solution you posted earlier should work for you. Like Kobojunkie said, tweak for performance and scalability. You've solved most of your problem as far as calling a webservice to do account checks, balance enquiry and limit checks. The remaining issue is posting to remote databases which I believe you want to do in real time. In case you were thinking of adding a webservice call in the triggers, DO NOT. Kobojunkie:Well stated. |

ALMUSTAQIM:Real talk! |
Whose blood will be shed? If yours is shed you will never see the new Nigeria and your kids and grand kids, Violence is not always the answer. |
It'll be best to start a poll, so folks can actually vote. Will be interesting to see how gets the most vote. |
[In the 1960s Eastern Nigeria was considered as one of the fastest growing economies in the world and Aba was the focus. Most of indigenous manufacturing plants were located there. In other to subjugate the reviving eastern economy after the war by discouraging local patronage; items produced in Aba were labelled as 'Aba made' even by those who produced nothing and were entirely dependent on oil revenue being managed by Northern officers. You need to visit Aba and see the ingenuity of the people there. People who were able to refine Jet A1 to fly improvised fighter bombers and built armored personnel carriers to withstand an army with international backing of super powers for three years. With some of these achievements, I believe that Baifra would have been competing favourably with the likes of South Korea and Singapore and not what we are experiencing today, sentiments apart.] Yeah right. Biafran would have failed. The same greed and power struggle that exists today would have still existed in Biafra. And someone here believes that Ojukwu will fight evil with brutality etc, what kind of country would that be. And because Ojukwu himself will be perfect and not fight his political enemies with the same brutality. Biafra: Ojukwu would have assumed the new nation is his and will not relinquish power. Oppositions will rise, factions formed and a civil war will ensue. Nigeria will discover oil and the economy will be booming. Biafrans will migrate to Nigeria. Biafran economy will fail, country becomes weak and war ridden. Look at the Igbo leaders we have today. If we don't have Biafra, at least we have our own states. We have leaders at the national level. We should at least do the best we can with what we have, that might convince Abians and maybe other groups that a seperate nation will be at our best interest. Although even at that, I don't believe it is. |
This post and the responses actually shows that Nigerians now have a voice and have awoken from their slumber. Atleast we now understand the foolishness of our leaders. How can distributing rice in such fashion with police beating folks with batons and citizens collapsing be a service to our country. It is easier to distribute rice than implement carefully thought out policies that will positively affect our citizens. I am fast loosing hope in Jonathan. He might not be as smart as I thought he was. I am terrified to say that Babangida might be making the most "sense". Oh, there is Ribadu. When will these guys start campaigning. And why the hell must we add the "Dame" title for any lady that becomes relevant in Nigeria. Pls people we must vote for the right candidates this coming election. we must demand more from our public officers. We should critically analyze each candidate and vote with objectivity instead of emotions. |
Ladies like tall men because 1) Tall men have the best personalities 2) Tall men are ALWAYS successful 3) Tall men love them the best 4) Tall men rule the world 5) Tall men can reach the heavens 6) Their offsprings will have all the above traits 7) Short men will be extinct soon 8.) Being with tall men is the best thing that will ever happen to them 9) The word short is evil 10) Being with a tall man guarantees a problem free relationship Abeg let's go get a life. This thread sef. |
I support, this is waaaay to looooooong overdue. A state of emergency should not only be declared in Aba but in the whole of Abia State for failure of leadership. THERE IS NO LEADERSHIP IN ABIA STATE. The Governor should be prosecuted by any legal means necessary for crimes against humanity. EFCC!!!! Where is that now useless body. No infrastructural improvement or meaningful governance has happened in Abia state for years. The state has been thoroughly looted and is in deep debt, no law, no order. And now the embecile governor wants to give amnesty to kidnappers, to murderers The militants atleast had a cause although they lost their purpose but amnesty given to them can somewhat be justified. What justifies amnesty for plain killers without any cause. These guys are terrorists and should face the law period. And can you imagine that some folks were calling for an Aba State!!!!! I sorry o. |
What is happening? I see folks don't understand what kind change they really want. So this news is junk abi? The way your country is ran and your money is spent is junk abi? No constructive rebuttal just a dismissal? I sorry for us o. |
@Gbawe I am in full support of your argument. If a taxi driver hits the president's envoy then the security details need to be investigated and reprimanded for doing a poor job of securing the president. Infact, their boss will have to explain how such a lapse occurred. Please stop comparing this to President Bush's shoe incidence. They are varying circumstances, The taxi man, also should be arrested (NOT BEATEN "BLUE BLACK" and processed as accorded by law. Why would you all sit there and support that he is beaten up? Why would you compare now to the military regime of the past saying he is lucky to be alive? I see most of you have an illusion of what a civil Nigeria should be like. FYI: I do support Jonathan but just might vote for Ribadu. |
I've never quite given this a big thought. It is indeed a tough choice. I agree Ribadu has the best intention for Nigeria. I somewhat agree with the opinion that he should be offered a position in the Jonathan administration (if Jonathan wins). I believe that Jonathan has the temperament to lead Nigeria at this time. But yet, it's still a tough choice. GEJ, |
I found this interesting. So I googled some of the names and came up different views about the original inventions. In particular, this site tries to disprove all of the claims. http://www33.brinkster.com/iiiii/inventions/ I guess someone can do more research to truly validate these claims, |
Ikengawo:Always on point! But you may be talking over his head. Silly thread. |
?
