XploraBen: Yes it has happened to me several times-it might be during a conversation or when it's posed to me as a question.People always become ambivalent and doubtful each time i made it clear i don't have a girlfriend!Hehehe, funny but true. It could be downright annoying though. Imagine being truthful and they're laughing, sometimes I'm forced to say I was joking. I stopped this a long time ago. Now when asked, I say 'no' and keep a straight face! Na by force! |

bunmioguns: Jim Reevesit's actually Fly away. I think he died in a plane crash and the authorities attempted suing him for suicide. Something along that line. |

My first impression was way back in 2005 a few months after my first internet experience. I didn't know what to make of it. Heck didn't even think much of Facebook. All I needed the net for was to follow some tv shows and comics. ![]() FF to around 2009 when I was doing some research on language use, a result directed me to NL. I saw a mixture of clever comments and the just plain silly ones. The silliness of some of those comments must have really affected me then cos I completely forgot about NL until my kid bro told me about it, I remembered my previous encounters. They're more clever people around here. But 'sadly' we've got a whole lot more silly people (by default and by choice) here! ![]() |

eleojo23: Maths is important for critical thinking.Well put. In fact, I clapped for you. OP maths is necessary. Was in the Arts in Secondary school and though maths wasn't my fav subject, I understood its importance and performed averagely and sometimes above average (when I was "serious" with it ).You see, the thing with seemingly irrelevant subjects is that they help you develop certain skills that'll help you later on, especially in your chosen field. Moreover, most disciplines meet at some point. E.g ●You can't do anything without the power of expression i.e language. ● The knowledge of mathematics, analytical skills and an attention to detail is key to the study of syntax, linguistics and some other "art" courses. ● People such as scientists and engineers with a background in (or who did well in) literature or fine arts usually do better. They're more likely to think "out of the box". they're the ones who'd usually 'invent' something. ■■■Bottom line: No scrapping of maths as a requirement for admission. Before you know it, it'll go the way of history as a subject in schools. We're already paying for that. |
OP, you are close; yet so far! It's easy to share your opinion if one doesn't approach the matter with a solution oriented mindset. The truth is that the root of issues such as you raised above is VALUES. If , as Nigerians, we identify and realign our values, we'll surprise ourselves with what we'll achieve. This "re-orientation" WILL NOT start from the so called leaders. It'll start from you and I in our homes, schools, offices etc. Nigeria can recover, will recover if you and I let her. |
Hmmm...for those always asking about salary structure. |

paxonel, I beg to differ with you on this: " we are all saved. so long were born into a christian home and not in the family of any other religion". Only a personal confession as a result of deep conviction can save one. i.e.being born again. |
