Yes, you can use it if you happen to get an appointment date before the expiration date in July.



Go with the Regular option.

You will have to transfer and activate your new SEVIS ID to your SEVIS fee payment portal assuming it has not expired. It is free of charge, so go to the www.fmjfee.com page to this. It should take about a day to get it transferred. That way, you can use your new SEVIS ID to do the DS160 and book a date.

I recently got admitted to study MSc Construction Engineering and Management for Fall 2022 semester. My COA is 53k, no funding at the moment but I was able to secure Mpower loan of 50k and planning to use my Dad as sponsor to cover the balance of 3k. I will be applying for visa as soon as possible and I will like to have an idea of the questions I can expecting and the best way to tackle them. Also, please anyone who has applied with Mpower loan, kindly share your experience. Thanks

We are on the same boat. I actually cancelled schools I had already chosen cos they aren't on mpower/prodigy list of schools. Narrowed my search to approved schools.

VO; why are you going to the US?

Me; I'm going to pursue a Master degree in Construction Management at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio.

VO; why BGSU?

Me; Aside from the relatively low cost of attendance in BGSU and relatively low cost of living in Ohio, the school Engineering Technology department offers a concentration in Construction Technology with active research in Construction Project Management and Decision Making. After asking various questions in an email conversation with Dr. Arsenio Rodrigues, I was made to understand that the department offers graduate internships which promotes professional experience because of its affiliations with various construction firm like Turner construction, Alvada Construction, Baker Concrete amongst others.

VO; why US?

Me; well, I chose the United States for a couple of reasons.

1. So as not to remain obsolete in this fast growing pace of technological advancement and I know a degree in the US will bring me very close if not at par with the technological advancement in my field.

2. With my experience in the cooperate environment. In the Nigeria job market today, a degree from the United States is well respected and highly ranked, also because most schools in the United States offer practical research work in various field which I know will give me the competitive edge I need and make me a valuable asset when I return to my country.

VO: what's your research interest

Me; my research interest is in the area of Construction Project Management where I will be looking into understanding the Effect of Motivation on Worker's Productivity during Construction Projects and I will be working with Prof. Scot Gross and his team.

VO; what will this degree do for you

Me; A degree in Construction Management will improve my knowledge of the Managerial aspect of Construction and Decision making concerning scheduling, quality, cost and time management of Construction projects from inception to completion.

Me; He works for a company that deals in importation and supply of medical equipment to various hospitals in Nigeria.

ME: He sponsored part of my education when I was an undergraduate and now, he’s particularly impressed that I’m seeking new frontiers to give my career a boost.

But fall 2022. My question is, for your fall 2021 graduate assistantship was it fully funded or you still have some deficits??
Second question is ....Did you apply using GRE or IELTS before you’re been given graduate assistantship.

I am very sure you have a graduate assistantship and I will suggest you include it in WHY BGSU. I am also a Quantity Surveyor but I am planning towards FALL 2022. I pray for favour on your behalf bro.

Hello guys

My EA was approved on the 11th of August and the earliest date I could schedule was 24th of September but I was able to pick 7th of September before expiration of the EA. After my EA expired, I saw the prompt to apply for another EA but was denied some days after. My school resumes on the 26th of August but as a GA I have to resume on the 25th of August. I emailed the school for extension but I was told that my GA will be moved to another available student of I don't get there on the 25th of August. I can't see the EA prompt on my CGI page again. I don't know if I should defer to Spring but if I do, I will lose the assistantship and according to the program coord, no GA for Spring semester. Pls I need advice�

Yeah, I just called thru the Lagos Embassy. A fresh EA request transferring to Abuja will attract another MRV fee payment. If you feel you can't wait any longer and can afford to pay another MRV fee, please do. But you have no idea if it's a wise decision for you. I also await an EA approval just like you do. I applied to the Lagos Embassy on the 17th July, and my resumption date is 23rd August. I've waited long enough too, but be wise.

Please I applied for EA since the 20th of July and up until now it has not been approved. I only got an email that its been reviewed and I've sent a reminder after but since then, nothing o. School resumes 26th of August and after I emailed my school for an extension, it was denied but I was told I have to be in school before 2nd of September. I'm kinda scared not to lose the assistantship. Pls any advice. Thanks

I applied for an expedited appointment on the 23rd of July and my resumption date is 26th of August. Planning on getting to the US before 20th of August for a mandatory orientation on my I-20.
