How does the color or ethnicity of Dangote matter? We have small gdp - let even say it 10B dollars - but Kenya has a bigger budget than Nigeria. That is money in gov coffers. If we go for bank assets - I can bet Kenya is probably now at 50B dollars - and Nigeria probably less than 100B dollars. Name any indicator - and your paper-weight economy is just not there.
This was when our budget was supposedly at it lowest in the middle of our deepest 2016 recession yet we lead in infastructural construction, with SA trailing behind...
Most of the infastructures you see us posting started back then..

Sorry care tell me at least one single positive lesson one can learn from Nigeria? Ghana is better.
They are many but you asked if one...let your economy produce individuals or even if it is govt that would build a certain iinfastructure that makes existing in world look like a child play...that way you can be a leader in that .

Dangote fertilizer plant...largest in the world
Dangote Refinery....Largest single train Refinery on planet earth..

Don't even bother, there is nothing to learn from Kenya other than ballooning slum and re-creating slumpolis...

A sachet of powdered milk setlls for as low as #30 in Nigeria (Dano milk) while liquid milk in can sells for as low as #160 or so..

With $1 you can get as much milk as u want...
Hollandia milk, peak milk, three crowns all sell below #250 I think..and they are all liquid in tin containers. ..

Lol @ bolded. grin grin I told you you know nothing about international finance. You just proved it openly again. South Africa like Kenya suffers from trade deficits. The Rand is already losing value like many others across Africa. Printing more money without corresponding production to match it would lead to inflation.! A secondary school girl in Nigeria can tell you that. It's o' level econs. grin
You remind me of Idi Amin who asked his central bank manager to just print money. When the man, an economist, advised against it, Amin had him killed. grin
Like you, your monkey east Africa grandpa, Amin couldn't understand why a country can not just print and print money like newspapers.
I guess you are just as dumb as your fellow East African illiterate, Idi Amin. cheesy

We are paying salaries and servicing our debt. You should hold Kenyatta responsible when China seizes Mombasa port from under your nose.
You know the sgr you built with the expensive Chinese loan is already losing money. grin

Your debt profile is worse than Nigeria's. How are you going to pay when tourism is gone, tea is gone, your diaspora is broke and locusts are messing up your agriculture? Kenya is finished!
wink
SA rand is worst in africa hit with about 20.6 year -to-date while Egyptian dollar os the best performer on the continent. .

Construction of the 614km gas pipeline linking Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano has begun. The $2.5bn investment from Sinosure will see new gas power plants in Abuja (1,350Mw) Kaduna (900Mw) and Kano ( 2,350Mw) spring up. The financiers said they're optimistic about the return on investment.
Allow me post the full report so rvp can read and be bitter... grin

The Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano Natural Gas Pipeline (AKKP) is a planned pipeline to transport natural gas from Ajaokuta, in Kogi State to Kano, in Kano State, through several states and urban centers, as part of the Trans Nigeria Gas Pipeline.

The $2.5bn investment from Sinosure will see new gas power plants in Abuja (1,350Mw) Kaduna (900Mw) and Kano ( 2,350Mw) spring up. The financiers said they're optimistic about the return on investment.

The pipeline originates in Ajaokuta and proceeds in a general northeasterly direction through Abuja Federal Territory, Kaduna, to end at Kano, a total distance of approximately 614 kilometres (382 mi).[1][2][3]

This pipeline is intended to establish a connection between pipeline networks in the eastern, western and northern regions of Nigeria. The project strives to utilize the country’s abundant natural gas resources to sustainably supply gas to northern Nigeria. The development is expected to reduce the quantity of gas flared in the country's oil fields and thus improve air quality. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), announced tenders for this project in July 2013. The Cabinet of Nigeria approved the project in December 2017

NNPC has executed contracts for the engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and financing for Lots 1 and 3 of the 40inch by 614km Ajaokuta – Kaduna – Kano gas pipeline and stations with a consortium of indigenous and Chinese companies under a 100% contractor financing model.

Dr. Maikanti said that the project will also help to reduce gas flaring in Nigeria and encourage diversification of energy resources in the country. He also reaffirmed the Federal Government’s plan to also extend the West African Gas Pipeline (WAGP) to Morocco and commended PETAN for its contribution to the development of the Nigerian petroleum industry.

The Nigeria Morocco Gas Pipeline (NMGP) designed to be 5,660km long, will reduce gas flaring in Nigeria and encourage diversification of energy resources

The guy don't understand economic stuff. How can he compare SA with Malaysia, Brazil, turkey,Indonesia, mexico,Thailand, or Philippines?

Malaysia per capita is over 10,000 dollars way way above SA
Brazil GDP is trillions of dollars way way above SA
Indonesia GDP is over a trillion
China is 14 trillion economy, way way above SA
Turkey GDP is double of SA
Mexico has GDP of over a trillion, that is way above SA

In honest truth..
SA is in par with Colombia.Yes Colombia.
The GDP of Colombia is around 300 billions and per capita is around 6,000 which is very similar to SA. The other folk who is closer to SA is Iran and Argentina, although Argentina is a bit ahead in terms of per capita.
They are all ahead of SA in both economy and infastructure..turkey for instance is has a pop of about 84m with a GDP of almost $800bn while SA has a pop of 60m with a litter over $300bn....the difference is widely clear..

Show me new slums - that have come up in Nairobi - slums have no area to expand. As we speak about 5,000 slum dwellers were evicted recently to pave way for sewage and water expansion.

Unlike Nigeria that has integrated slums - in Nairobi it easy to deal with them - because they are illegally built on public reserve land.
Slums are const antly destroyed in Lagos...this year alone before covid19 2 slums was destroyed and one is scheduled to be destroyed after corona....even last year about five was destroyed...
The important thing is destroying it and re building affordable housing for them otherwise expect the slum to be re-created in another corner..

Nairobi is awesome wink that aside,I know Eastleigh already.it used to host so many foreigners most especially somalians and it is also a place where most of the forex trade is controlled in Nairobi.it is chaotic but not a slum by any standard. Nairobi if you include the metro is nearly clocking 10m...so if you exclude the two well known slumpolis of Kinshasa and Lagos...it will be amongst biggest cities in Africa together with Cairo.
You've been astro projecting right from page 1 just so you can feel better about kenya...if this gives you comfort I don't know...
You have 4 million plus pop living in Nairobi with about 2.5m regarded to be living in slumm.that should tell you alot about the sorry state of nairobi.....I mean you were the same person exalting Eastleigh as some sane environment for average nairobians only for me to find out that it is a filthy vertical slum just like huruma.. Now that what I call slumpolis... Eastleigh is an example...I will try looking for another neighbourhood afrikan traveler once posted...I have forgotten the name of that place but it's looked looks like a replica of Eastleigh...your cbd's and estates account for the remaining 1.5m that doesn't live in slum...

As for Lagos expect the population to drop with this new rails connecting Lagos to Ibadan and Abeokuta...that will massively move industries, companies and population there over the next 10 years....imagine living in Ibadan but working in Lagos..after the days work you hop on the next train to Lagos from either Ibadan or Abeokuta...that how great cities were developed...

You're unable to defeat the homegrown terror that has sent 8M nigerians (population of small country like Benin) into IDP camps where the United Nations are feeding them...and you want to lecture us about the military.

Alshabab can only launch terror activities in Kenya like they would in London or Paris or Newyork - 3 or 4 guys - sneaking in and causing little drama here and there...those are cowardly terror acts. They don't hold territory in kenya like they do in Somalia.

The strength of the army is the ability to enforce territorial integrity. Benin Army is, therefore, stronger than Nigerian army because they are able to maintain the territorial integrity of Benin. No Benin citizen is in some IDP camps.

As for Boko haram - why would they even bother with Abuja - when they control territory and are levy taxes - enforcing Sharia law - and are authority in huge territory in the North East of Nigeria.
I didn't even read whatever you wrote...but I can tell you for free that you are wasting your time..The whole knows our army is better than anything in Kenya...whether you argue from Somalia to Jerusalem it won't change that reality which is a fact....
