Babyo, been nice reading your comments .I believe in the inherent goodness of people except a few.Nairaland has been a nice and new experience for me,I always used to ask my brother what he was doing on the internet up till now. Its been wonderful getting to meet other Nigerians in cyberspace.
have to get some sleep now.
All the best.

I am proud of my culture also(Efik), its part of what makes us who we are.I have seen the problems caused by people not having a sense of identity. You find here people who don't know if they are British ,black British, British blacks, African or Indian.
But like you said ,its who an individual is that's more important.Last weekend I met a white family in Kent ,I got stranded and was thinking of getting a hotel but they insisted I spend the night with them and still keep in touch. These are people who never knew me and knew all the bad stories about Nigerians.
I know its hard for people to let go of prejudices but they are often not true.Judging people because of where they come from is crap.

Thanks my sister, in an earlier post I said this whole matter was just a result of politics for government patronage. I have spent a lot of time with Igbos and even here in London my best friends and my brother's friends are Igbo. I even thought I would marry an igbo girl as two of my best girlfriends who are still my friends though they are married are Igbo.
People just need to get above tribal sentiments in Nigeria.
Romance / Re: My Boyfriend Is In A Hotel With Another Girl by samsilo(m): 12:24am On Apr 25, 2007
Most important question, what is he doing in the hotel and is in your town? Are they attending a course together, conference , colleagues or what?

Nairaland / General / Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by samsilo(m): 11:48pm On Apr 24, 2007
There was absolutely no electricity in my house in Calabar for for more than 2 months after Christmas be cause of a blown out transformer. Most people who could afford it bought generators and trust PHCN(NEPA),they asked people to contribute 500,000 for a new transformer for the street. Me I no answer them.
Romance / Re: Why Do Some Men Inteprete Friendliness As "interest" by samsilo(m): 3:26pm On Apr 24, 2007
Anabell please ignore this buffoon, he obviously is poorly educated and I can see from when he started on mammaput that his command of English is poor.
@ topic .This is a catch 22 situation. Most guys have learnt from experience including myself, that women are usually indirect when they fancy a guy especially in Nigeria. It is a very tricky game to understand when she is playing hard to get and when she is just being friendly ,the more experience you are the better you become at it.
I personally have always had very close platonic female friends, some closer to me than their boyfriends who come and go.
Politics / Re: Why would obong of calabar try to stop the eze ndi igbo of calabar by samsilo(m): 2:37pm On Apr 24, 2007
I wish you guys would stop disrespecting the Obong of Calabar on this thread.
Apart from sitting on one of the oldest and grandest thrones in Nigeria he is a father who's children would surprise you in terms of thier accomplishments, a professor of of surgery, and is very respected by his people of whom I am one.
I said it earlier ,REST THIS MATTER.
Go and do some research on the man instead of dissing.
Politics / Re: FG To Name Ribadu New Police IG! by samsilo(m): 2:17pm On Apr 24, 2007
If this is true then it is really good news. No matter what else anybody can say about Ribadu ,he is fervently patriotic and clear about his views on redeeming our country.I was in Cross River state until recently and saw what a strong willed person in position of authority can do. Look at NAFDAC under the fearless Prof Akinyuli.
Razor, forget OBJ for now,the level of corruption in the police is like NEPA(PHCN), it affects everybody and wrecks the image of our country.
Last week I gave a friend my Digital Camera to give to my wife in Nigeria, Immediately he left the airport he was arrested by the police ,taken to the station and asked to pay 30K. Someone who just came into the country after 6hr flight spent 5 hrs in the police station because the idiots refused to believe reciepts abroad do not always carry purchasers name.
Will we talk about the innocent people killed almost daily by the police? If you ask me the Nigerian police force is probably the worst thin g to happen to our dear country.
Some one else can continue at EFCC, we need to build up institutions not people

Cute ass ,TRUE,TRUE,TRUE. wink
Romance / Re: Can The Truth Really Set Us Free? by samsilo(m): 1:44am On Apr 24, 2007
The bible saying is "Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free"(can't recall the verse). The meaning here is quite different from the often misquoted "tell the truth and the truth shall set you free",try this if you have committed an offence and you get arrested. You will soon be free in the police cell.
That said, lies are damaging to your conscience, integrity and feeling of self worth. As humans it is almost impossible to be truthful all the time for example ,if I genuinely promise to do something believing I will and then don't for what ever reason, then I told a lie.
Sometimes to avoid something terrible eg when armed robbers asked my friend to show them into my house after robbing him of his phone and he bravely lied ,saying he was calling to find out the house number when they took his phone. they left him to look for some one else to rob.
Politics / Re: Musa Yar'adua Is The New President Of Nigeria! by samsilo(m): 1:00am On Apr 24, 2007
I have discussed this election result with many people and the conclusion almost all the time has been the same. The electoral process has been compromised definitely, but knowing Nigeria it is not only one party that does this. Also with good reasons setting sentiments aside Yar'adua is the best man for President.
Pat Utomi would be the ideal candidate but not in real life Nigeria. We need a disciplined and if not totally uncorrupt ,at least
sincere , modest ,focused and determined president to heal the wounds Obasanjo and his henchmen have unleashed on the minds of Nigerians. If you take note there has not been much criticism of the person of Yar'adua, rather it has been about the mechanism and method of his emergence both at the primaries and these elections.
I strongly believe he will surprise Nigerians and serve a purpose in our history, just like Obasanjo who since 1999 has helped to make the possibility of military rule in Nigeria far fetched
Romance / Re: Does True Love Exist Among Nigerian Lovers by samsilo(m): 4:18am On Apr 23, 2007
True love definitely exists among Nigerians but like someone said, long mouth no gree vulture make e get full cheeks. Other factors have pushed love to the sideline. In Nigeria today many ,many girls are driven by both poverty and greed.
The disadvantaged position of women due to a male dominated society puts men in a position where a lot of them just look at women as objects that can be bought and paid for. There few jobs after leaving school and many parents cannot meet with their kids demands(not needsoo!).
It is a sad situation and unfortunately I don't see any hope as far as the economy remains the way it is.Its all about money for hair, money for handset , recharge cards cry cry
Romance and love tend to flee this sort of arrangements so it is getting rarer than before

Politics / Re: Nigeria's Image Was Badly Damaged On Oprah Today! by samsilo(m): 3:45am On Apr 23, 2007
Instead of insulting each others tribes I believe people on this forum especially those abroad can help personally to stop the bad impression about Nigerians.
I and my friends cannot count the number of times we have seen Nigerians in public on buses ,trains etc being loud and saying thing things they should not be discussing in public(e.g how to work without "papers"wink
I have had many arguments with people about the inferiority complex that makes blacks, not only Nigerians to bling up just to show they have made it.
We need to tell people the true situation of things overseas i.e how hard you have to work to get paid, instead of packing all the cheap jeans, T shirts and knock off designer goods home to show off when on holiday.
Some problems are beyond us on a personal level.A system where there are no jobs, where people get rich overnight by hitting one contract or knowing somebody.A society where achievements without material gain is seen as wortless, the list is endless.
For those blaming Oprah and the victims of 419, do you know how many people get 419 mails daily in Europe and the US? Do you also realise it is very annoying and its a sort of invasion of privacy to find that crap in your inbox almost daily.
The victims of 419 may be greedy but the lure of easy profit is very tempting and they may plead entrapment.
If all Nigerians could behave the way my father taught me to ,which is simply the fact that I don't give a S**T about what anybody has or how rich you are but seek my own path in life.the country would be a better place.
That's why I hate OVATION magazine with a passion.
Romance / Re: Recharge Cards Or Love Cards: What Kind Of Card Do Girls Prefer? by samsilo(m): 1:31pm On Apr 21, 2007
There is something nobody has mentioned here,do you guys know that recharge cards are the new [b]WESTERN UNION[b] . A lot of girls hide the fact that what they want is money ,when you send them the cards they sell it. If you use call centers you will find girls coming to sell recharge cards especially those around the universities. A friend of mine once found PIN nos worth 10K in a girls inbox and she confessed she gets them from guys (toasters) and sells them when she is broke
Romance / Re: Which Of These Two Women Should I Marry? by samsilo(m): 10:34am On Apr 21, 2007
Sorry about mentioning you ,I just believe people should know and face facts. I am not supporting having multiple partners(read my post again), and I clearly stated that good sex does not come from repeated practice but knowing what to do. That's why I said Lady A is the one.
Also forget about spreading anything any wise person these days does not
Romance / Re: Which Of These Two Women Should I Marry? by samsilo(m): 2:10am On Apr 21, 2007
To Zigbo and all those attacking this guy for having two girlfriends I have to ask you where you live.If it is in Nigeria then you don't know guys in Nigeria. Before I got married I made a conscious decision to keep away from girls because I had seen enough to know that there is no real joy in all this plenty woman matter. It is better to get someone you are in love and comfortable with and shut out the rest.
This thread raises fundamental issues,I used to be very close to many girls(friend and confidant, not lovers) and I found out in Nigeria there is so much ignorance about sex among many girls. They do it ,but because people are not honest and frank about discussing sex they don't know jack.
The result is you find married people with so many sexual problems( I dealt with many professionally). My first statement was because I know how guys get married in Nigeria and for most it is a question of selecting out of a bunch of girls they are dating(whether you know or not believe!)
What we need to do here is learn from the contributions being made and stop judging the starter of this thread.

@topic , woman A definitely has all it takes  to make a good wife and pain is due to reasons stated by previous posters but more often inexperience is the cause. If you are both open minded this will soon be a thing of the past. Believe me I Have come across many Nigerian girls who after 3,4 or more partners didn't know what it meant to come, so they had sex just to please their men. If she gets to enjoy it ,na you go tire.
Romance / Re: My Boyfriend Has Hired A Private Detective To Investigate Me! by samsilo(m): 1:26am On Apr 21, 2007
The guy is simply playing mind games.Like other people have noted even if you need private investigation of someone ,GSM has removed the need for hiring an agency . If you are the kind of person who "drops" for people in Niaja you can make a few calls and some jobless people will take on the job of informing you.Even in when I was in Nigeria I knew people who could give you a girls history(facts not fiction),but it takes maturity to come above such things.
A relation of mine lost her fiancee to such talk as his family network(uncles ,aunties ,cousin in the same University etc) kept on giving him a running comentry on the girls moves.
My final take, if the guy is not mature and discerning he will listen to so many stories till him tire. So Razzor he does not need an agency , if it means so much to you just watch your back
Romance / Re: Ladies Initiate Break Ups In Most Relationships? by samsilo(m): 2:04pm On Apr 17, 2007
A lot of guys don't like telling a woman its over .They would rather set about annoying or frustrating the woman till she jumps ship for someone else. I am sure you have heard the saying "hell hath no fury like a woman scorned", so alot of guys play it safe and let the girls do the breaking up. I have seen guys sending some one to toast a babe to distract her so they can take off.
