The HDMI port on your laptop is OUTPUT ONLY port. A solution to your request is to make use of a HDMI capture card to pipe the media from your camcorder to the OBS software

I'm here to submit ideas on the electronics and fanciful gadgets. The interior could be furnished with electronic gadgets such as a fairly wide display like those in Tesla-S models running a full windows/linux operating system with GPS, internet connectivity and so on. I could help with developing ideas in those areas. Following!

CityNG:

Restoring or repairing/rebuilding?

Doing both. I realised during the repair process that there were some parts that were about failing.

Almost done restoring my e46 that suffered a terrible crash, just aligned the wheels today and test drove her around but I noticed the centre case of the propeller was damaged during the crash. That is already on my to do list for next weekend. I'll be uploading pictures after the whole restoration has been completed.

oh that's good.
I have problem with my AC too, I need to have a new compressor on the e46, and change all the AC components. Currently I have not been using it,waiting till i fix it, I'm not confident to give it to technicians whom I do not trust.
I have been driving the old reliable m50...
if you were based in Lagos, I would have recommended the guy who worked on mine
Car Talk / Re: BMW Owners' Forum by samuelk(m): 6:36am On Jan 08, 2014
finally summoned enough courage to allow the AC technician takeout my dashboard for the evaporator to be replaced. It wasn't as difficult as i thought maybe due to the expertise of the guy that carried out the task, will upload some pictures

So sad brother. Those guys have a way of not minding there biz. Nxt time ur A/C goes warm pls check the cabin filter b4 any gas issue comes up. Had a similar experience with my kompressor only 2 find out the cabin filter was blocked with dirt.

Thanks bro, seems there's truly a leak because there wasn't much pressure left in the system today when i checked and there's no leakage in the lines. Will monitor it till tomorrow morning.
Car Talk / Re: BMW Owners' Forum by samuelk(m): 8:42am On Dec 24, 2013
my sad story.... After church service on sunday, I pulled over at an auto store to get a can of R134 to topup my AC since it was low on gas...i suspected a tiny leak since i parked it while i travelled. While i left my engine running with the bonnet released for the guy to recharge the system, i took a walk about some metres away to answer a phone call only to return and discover that the guy has been draining the gas left in my system all the while in the name of 'letting out the air' like he said. To cut the story short, he then proceeded to refill the system and behold, very warm air from my AC vents. This caused a long argument and other observers had to come in to settle the dispute. We then reached an agreement to fix it the next day since there was no AC technician to diagnose it around.
Went back the next day only to be told that my dryer was damaged. Replaced that and the system picked up again and worked fine for some hours only for it to go warm again. Returned to the workshop to test for leaks in the lines and confirmed that there was none and it was then traced to the evaporator. Now i have to replace my evaporator but the sad part is that my dashboard has to comeout for it to be replaced. sad sad

kuntash: Halos, good people,

don't know if this had been treated...

can anyone confirm the heated side mirrors are permanently heated?..

in Naija, 25c is considered as quite cold. and I understand , it should be off at more than 25degree centigrade.

I only just noticed it this morning.
does it always stay on? I mean heated?

The side mirrors on my BMW is permanently heated and has remained like that eversince regardless of the weather condition

Blame me less pls , lazy reader here.... angry

well, i find BMWs easy to carryout DIY repairs on if you are brave enough. Ever since i got my E46 330i, i've been carrying out repairs on my own. so far i've been able to carryout fixes like cam sensor replacement (exhaust), Radiator change, Intake manifold cleaning and its components like ICV e.t.c. Absorber replacement. This fixes have DIY tutorials and videos online and helps the owner to understand his/her vehicle better.
My neighbours laugh at me when i go under the car saying 'why you go buy motor wey dey problematic like BMW' not knowing i love carrying out preventive maintenance.

It would be nice if you could show us what your doing with your Beema. Let start to encourage people to either work on their cars themselves if they have the knowledge, or at least take them to competent mechanics. With the level of complexity of the more modern cars, it wont be long before our roadside destroyers start condemning even the latest Toyotas because of their electronic complexity.

will upload the pictures later. The issues at point of purchase were;

multiple cranking when starting in the morning

car in safe mode (not revving past 4000 rpm)

climate controls not functioning

rough idles

hardstarts when warm

faulty MAF....disonnected

After scanning it pulled up codes relating to the camshaft position sensor 'exhaust' idle control valve opening and closing coil, cylinder misfire, o2 sensor behind catalyst, vanos solenoid circuit or so. So i started with changing the camshaft position sensor which didnt make any difference. So while researching online for fixes for the remaining error codes, i came across a post on bimmerforums that said something about a DME relay causing codes related to the o2 sensor and idle control valve coming up so i went back to the car to test the relay using a method i found on youtube. Well the relay didnt report much resistance after clicking which showed it was going bad which had me going all the way down to Ladipo to get another and a spare.
After installing the new relay, it only made a slight difference but that didnt deter me from going further. Next day i got down to cleaning the throttle body, DISA and idle control valve which were quite dirty and that was when the breakthrough showed up, that fetched me more power while accelerating but with constant 'jacking' but was revving past the 4k mark already but still with the issue of not starting when hot. I returned to the internet to check for possible causes but didn't get much info on that so i went to pay some of my mechanic friends a visit just to engage them in talks about the issue and i was adviced to check the fuel pump and filter.
The next morning which was yesterday, i got myself under the car and took out the fuel filter...it seemed clear then i got into the car to check the fuel pump. I could hear the whirring but that didnt convince me enough but there was no way i was going to bring out the fuel pump 'fear factor grin ' so i called up a bmw mechanic around to do it for me which he did..... Initial tests on the fuel pump showed that it was pumping well but i just wanted to throw my last coin at the fuel pump so we set out to Olowu spare parts market at Ikeja to get a new pump.
During the process of testing the new pump and mine which i took along, we discovered that the fuel pump motor was actually spinning higher than that of mine so i bought it and we headed home to install it....and behold, it was the fuel pump, the first crank turned up well with a good hum, even with the MAF connected which had previously been disconnected....took it around for a spin and the movement was just superb! turned it off and started again.....cranked and turned up normally, that is how i saved my pocket some thousands.
Will be checking some electrical wirings on the car later today.
