KeriBaby: . Sorry for the late response Dearie. I'm sure you understand . I did mine that same day though. |
safarigirl:My dear, I've seen Psquare a couple of times and they went the way of others on stage. Although, theirs bring vigour and a whole lot of energy. Maybe it's because I love them. I trust Timi Dakola though but haven't seen him on stage before. Your veiwpoint about paying DJs and paying artistes is hilarious but unfortunately true. Such is the way of the world as far as Nigeria and shows are concerned. Honestly Dear, organizers would up their games the moment our musicians do the same. It's really tiring. Where's lalasticlala when you need favours ![]() ![]() |
DoctorDoom:You raised the most important point there. Rather than leave people with something worth remembering, the keep revelling in a wicked vicious cycle. No Nigerian artistes has ever left me speechless with their performance. My sole purpose of avoiding them overtime remains the same. |
9jabox:Hahahahahahaha Harry Song must have been engrossed with the lies that he forgot he was lying to himself. You can imagine. Unfortunately, this same Harry Song started out as a live performer, singing at a popular club every night before he was discovered. |
Octaves:You're quite right but I beg to disagree with your assertion concerning "real vocalists". We have them and they're many. Iyanya, Praiz, Tuface, Dare art Alade, Tiwa Savage, Chidinma, Yemi Alade, Timi Dakolo, Omawunmi, Waje, Ige, Banky W, GT da Guitarman, Capital FM, among many others. Again, I beg to differ with "most people don't appreciate real singing talent". We do and the consciousness is fast increasing. It would have been better if you said that genres that support good vocals are not really appreciated here. Auto tune is largely the problem. Who would love to disgrace himself on stage? |
Djicemob:True that, Tuface, Lagbaja and a few are the only ones we have around as far as live performances are concerned. |
I made up my mind ever since two years ago not to punish myself over attending musical shows involving Nigeria artistes, both Gospel and Secular. Reason for this has been best known to me from day one - our artistes are lazy, an eyesore and arrogant on stage. So I was at the Eko Hotels yesternight for the Glo Laffta Fest. Who doesn't love a comedy show? For me , it was the best moment to ease myself of the many pressures I've been subjected to of late. Honestly, I had forgotten that music was added. I guess I wasn't really expecting a thing from any of the artistes. The code has worked ever since; love their songs over the air (TV and radio), avoid their live performances like a plague. After laughing to no end, Burna Boy, just like every other Nigerian act came up without a single back up. It was solo, perhaps more money to him. Calling on DJ Jimmy Jatt at intervals, I could remember Burna Boy singing over six songs within 10 minutes. Which successful artistes does this ![]() Within 15 minutes, Burna Boy had almost finished his album. His average time for each was 2 minutes each, worst of all, they were all lip-synced The presence of DJs at shows meant for artistes have done more harm than good over the years and this is in turn affecting our music beyond the shores of Africa. The cliché has been the same over the years; they come on stage with the intention to "sing along" all in the name of performance. It doesn't make sense attending events and all you hear on the stage is "DJ! Let's Go!!" and all you see afterwards is the annoying, regular, unrepentant and unprofessional catwalks they exhibit on the stage. Parambulating like it's a fashion show. For Pete's sake we watch other foreign acts and they don't do all these. I keep a particular video close to my heart, a live video of Jay Z (a rapper) performing "Young Forever" with Beyoncé. One would think we have not started compared to these folks. We claim our music has attained a reasonable standard, yet they all tow the same line, boring walks, calling on DJ's to play the next track just to "sing along" or lip sync in the name of performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rmfmdKOLzVI Although the subsequent comedies from Basketmouth, Bovi, I go dye and others resuscitated the show. Perhaps our artistes would fare better if they don't sing, come to the show, sign autographs and go home because I can't fathom how they justify the word "performance". Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Beyoncè, 50cents, Ashley Simpson, the great R-Kelly, Jennifer Hudson, Mariah Carey, Britney Spears among others have been caught in the lip-synching SCANDAL at some point in their careers, yet we brandish it in Nigeria like nothing is wrong with it. www.forbes.com/sites/michelecatalano/2013/01/25/from-michael-jackson-to-beyonce-a-brief-history-of-lip-syncing/ Perhaps this explains why our glorified international acts struggle in the international scene, save for those who take their shows to these folks. Life, as far as music is concerned is beyond cut and paste in the studio. It continues on the stage not with mediocrity but giving your all. I honestly couldn't wait to leave the venue after seeing Korede Bello, Dija, and Reekado Banks trying to find their way to the backstage to prepare at about 10:30pm. The scenario is all too familiar; better to have me listen to your songs in my house than see you jumping around while you sing your 2 mins songs with the cliché "DJ! Let's go!!" PS: For those who don't know, lip-synching is considered offensive and highly scandalous if roped around an artiste in saner climes. Cc Lalasticlala |
Goodboiyy:True, I quite agree with you. I'm from Ughelli. Now I understand your now![]() |
Goodboiyy:We are bro, we are. We're just not educated enough. By the way, what's with the hashtag in your sig ![]() |
SmartMugu:Thank God someone agrees with me. |
erico2k2:MAYBE I don't even have any Urhobo friend and I don't need to join a "SCHOLAR" group to tell if Urhobos are educated or not. Study the life of Urhobos around you and not any socialite club. The number seven is very much debatable; it still does not change a thing though. I'm a full blooded Urhobo man![]() |
Goodboiyy:Oniovo, biko, take out your number 7 abeg. |
Hypocrisy or not, every man is worth a trial. Jonathan's incompetence far outweighs his good sides. A man who never stopped lying each time he comes face-to-lens with the media. I am ready to criticise this government but I would not hastily conclude this administration is all lies. A government barely 4 months in office and the PDP goons are already expecting it to achieve what GEJ's president failed to achieve in 6 years. While I'd say that the APC has no clear philosophy, the person of MB/PYO puts my mind to rest in carrying out the task confronting them. All through Jonathan's campaign, I saw a man who knew he had failed but not man enough to say "no more!" I saw a man being motivated by his wife, thieving, selfish, lying ministers cum politicians whose only interest was keeping their shares of the National cake. That Nigerians are here today is the handiwork of Jonathan, his cronies and the complacency of the PDP. I'd rather prefer to have the body language of Buhari make things happen than allow the cluelessness of Jonathan run the affairs of Nigeria. It's no longer business as usual. Wailers can wail for as long as they want to. Better to have a man who is interested in Nigeria than one who is interested because his ND kinsmen are all out to protect their jumbo cakes. NB: In the end, we shall say all is well that ends well. |
Gazaliah:It's proper you do so, bro. I mentioned "Verified by Visa". My e-transaction card (UBA Africard which is a Visa) never asks for such. This explains my assertion. |
IamOpemipo:I guess so. ![]() |
wristbangle:Exactly my point. Although Tiwa has not taken the legendary role but the likes of Yemi Alade is nowhere near. |
kannymoore:Thanks ![]() |
kannymoore:Thanks ![]() |
wristbangle:The article is too hasty for me. I don't see Yemi coming close anytime soon. Regardless, there are several factors to bear in mind when considering or comparing these two. 1. Tiwa's pregnancy: Although this didn't totally put her out but it sure hindered some of her outings, though not all. 2. Mavin: Don Jazzy's style has been a factor to consider. Don Jazzy has a way of reaching out to his crew one after the other. You record today, another next week, maybe next month. And to think that there's Dr. Sid, Reekado Banks, Dija, Da Prince and Korede Bello are all in wait for their chance, Tiwa may not be coming out weekly like Mavin revolves around her. 3. She has put to bed, yes, and I don't expect her to put her baby aside and just resume recording cum shooting tomorrow. Comparing both of them and saying Yemi Alade has dethroned Tiwa at this point is unfair and a great injustice to Yemi Alade herself. This is a situation of an international act over one trying to register her name. That Michael Jackson failed to sing for a very long time prior his death never meant that Chris Brown or Usher dethroned him. |
elmisti:God bless you bro. Aliexpress, e no gree use, ebay, na lie. Asin... I weak ![]() |
bjay5585:You sound arrogant. The basis of the whole thing from the outset was not to prove I'm better than you are. Arguments wear me out easily and I've tried making a joke out of it the whole time. I'm fresh Elmisti, kindly help give the sage one of your Cuban filtered **** for being old and experienced "in the game". |
bjay5585:At this juncture, I'm honestly tired. Cc Lifeisguhd Olami90 Elmisti Xcozee Please help this brother out ![]() |
LifeIsGuhd:Hehehehehe I stalled too. I cannot come and die![]() |
Olami90:Leave am . Dem no dey tell person Funny how he kept on mentioning card pin. Perhaps he thought it was POS That your link though You people should let the man rest na![]() ![]() ![]() |
bjay5585:Provide the numbers on your card without your pin. I'll teach you how ![]() |
Harinholar:Lolz. Dearie, the explanation is simple concerning e-transactions. You'd be required to provide the 16 digits on frontal part of your card. Eg; 1234 5678 9012 3456. Once you've supplied this, you'd be asked to provide you Card Verification Value (Security) which is a 3 digit pin at the back of the card. Eg; 112. After this, you'd be ask to provide your DOB (although not in all cases). You'd also be asked to provide the expiration date on your card. Eg; 01/20. Next, you may be taken to your card's homepage. In my case, I'm redirected to "Verified by Visa" page where I confirm some details and voila, end of transaction. So how is pin requested for in this regard Even Quickteller online does not request for pin. NO WEBSITE WOULD ASK FOR YOUR PIN! The best they can ask for is a token generated code. Lobatan![]() |
