Jonathan is Ijaw, not Igbo, or do you only make that distinction when you hear Oil and Biafra? @Sanchez01, I just want you to see what Nigerians really think of everyone that isn't Northern or SW so you don't visit another politics thread and run yourself down thinking you're attacking others. Good Morning
I'm often referred to as an Igbo by some, if not most Yoruba people. Problem is, these people believe there are ONLY three ethnic groups just because it is said that there are three MAJOR ethnic groups. I'm used to it and it bugs me in no way. I only see them as ill-informed. Although, they mean no harm when they refer to me as such. Understanding for them is far-fetched.

The SS and the SE is beyond oil and Biafra. My grouse is bothered on the fact that we cannot consider ourselves as superior just because we're not comfortable with sharing a government with them. And I don't attack Igbos, never will. I'll only voice out when war is preached. Perhaps I could support the Biafra cause if it's not based on bitterness, hate and does not incite violence. The SS and the SE are sisters and nothing will take that away. Good morning Deariesmiley.

However, we Nigerians are determined to fight corruption with the last drop of our blood.

Enough of looting our common wealth and living larger than life.

We use this medium to warn all the past and present corrupt politicians to start to return our loots in their custody as a matter of urgency.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed.

charix:
I seriously don't understand why this lip-syncing thing is even an argument, I don't see the point of it. Regardless if the artiste lip-syncs or not, I would enjoy value for my money. I came to see the artist not judge their voice performance.

However there is one other thing I paid to see - the stage presence. Too many Nigerian artistes do not have stage presence and the reason is because on regular show outings they are accustomed to performing on only one stage. This makes them hardly move about. Seeing Ne-yo make use of all five stages at the MAMAs set a record other african acts couldn't keep up with. I want promoters to build multi stage platforms our artistes can use in honing their skill to international standard.
If you're dying on seeing the artiste, why not hook up with him on one of his social media accounts, find out where he fields and visit the same so you could see him, or you put him in a grotto, have him wear a Santa Claus-like costume and shake hands with himhuh

I don't mean to poke but your post makes no meaning. Over #5,000 people left their homes, parted with sums to see just one person. Is the glory of the sun on his facehuh Live performances is not to judge the voice, never.

Your second paragraph is indeed saddening and disturbing. What has multiple decked stages got to do with stage movementshuh Follow one of the links I provided and see how Jay Z and Beyonce choreographed "Young Forever" with a single stage. What would you say of Whitney Houston who does R&B/Soul or a typical Alicia Keys who doesn't leave her Grand Piano on the stagehuh Or what do you say about Taylor Swift, though young, yet projects and beams confidence and grace as she walks to and fro the stage/aislehuh Decked, multiple or layered stages is solely to enhance the stage not the performance of artistes. Adele's live performance of "Someone like you" was executed beautifully with pacing. She stayed glued to her pianist till the end.

Stage presence is not in gallivanting but in managing whatever platform is put before you to use. There's no correlation between a giant sized stage and leaving an impression. Please go and watch some of N'Sync's performances as well as that of Mariah Carey and ENYA. You'll know what stage performance is.

Imagine Burna boy saying "Make una stand up abi na only rice una come chop?" Like seriouslyhuh

Perhaps some folks don't know the world's most popular cartoon started as far back as 1940. Yes, very true! The first productions of Tom and Jerry, two of the most honoured cartoon characters in motion pictures, were created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.

Their plot centered on a never-ending battle, in other words, a chase between a house cat and a brown mouse. The Hanna- Barbera duo had written and directed 114 Tom and Jerry cartoons from 1940 to 1957, at the MGM cartoon studio in Hollywood.

The pair won a total of 7 Oscar awards for Best Animated Short Subject, more than any other character-based theatrical animated series. The series has also been named as the ‘Greatest Television Shows of All Time’ by TIME, in 2000. Tom and Jerry was also placed at the 66th position, in the ‘Top 100 Animated TV Shows’ by IGN, in January 2009. Read on to know interesting and amazing information on the history, origin and background of Tom and Jerry.

Below are pictures of the Tom and Jerry characters from 1940 till date smiley

1. Hanna-Barbera era (1940–1958): The very first few episodes of the animated series portrayed Tom as a feisty wild cat than a house cat as he could be seen with two wild teeth and sharp pointy claws. Tom, from the first few episodes was out to eat Jerry, thus presenting the cartoon as 'too' violent for kids.
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/LXRyhHiDTOE/hqdefault.jpg

https://jerryandtom.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/puss-gets-the-boots.jpg

However, Tom's physical appearance evolved significantly over the years. During the early 1940s, Tom had an excess of detail—shaggy fur, numerous facial wrinkles, and multiple eyebrow markings, all of which were streamlined into a more workable form by the end of the 1940s. In addition, he also looked like a more realistic cat early on; evolving from his quadrupedal beginnings Tom to become increasingly and almost exclusively bipedal. By contrast, Jerry's design remained essentially the same for the duration of the series. Below is a screenshot of Tom whose appearance had changed compared to the early episodes.
https://i.ytimg.com/vi/FYXLPrgmwPI/hqdefault.jpg

Tom and Jerry remained popular throughout their original theatrical run, even when the budgets began to tighten in the 1950s and the pace of the shorts slowed slightly. However, after television became popular in the 1950s, box office revenues decreased for theatrical films, and short subjects. At first, MGM combated this by going to all-CinemaScope production on the series. After MGM realized that their re-releases of the older cartoons brought in just as much money as the new cartoons did, the studio executives decided, much to the surprise of the staff, to close the animation studio. The MGM cartoon studio was shut down in 1957, and the final of the 114 Hanna-Barbera Tom and Jerry shorts, Tot Watchers, was released on August 1, 1958. Hanna and Barbera established their own television animation studio, Hanna-Barbera Productions, in 1957, which went on to produce TV shows, such as The Flintstones, The Yogi Bear Show and The Smurfs.

2. Gene Deitch era (1961–1962): A lot of people perhaps never knew about this era. This era of is quite boring to watch, even till date. Fans that typically rooted for Tom criticized Deitch's cartoons for never having Tom become a threat to Jerry, mainly due to the constant intervention of his replacement owner – a corpulent, grumpy middle-aged white man whom was also more graphically brutal in punishing Tom's mistakes as compared to Mammy Two-Shoes, by beating and thrashing Tom repeatedly, searing his face with a grill, and forcing Tom to drink an entire carbonated beverage.

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/0mlAm-d1ne8/maxresdefault.jpg

3. Chuck Jones era (1963–1967): After the last of the Deitch cartoons were released, Chuck Jones, who had been fired from his thirty-plus year tenure at Warner Bros. Cartoons, started his own animation studio, Sib Tower 12 Productions, with partner Les Goldman. Beginning in 1963, Jones and Goldman went on to produce 34 more Tom and Jerry shorts, all of which carried Jones' distinctive style (and a slight psychedelic influence). Jones had trouble adapting his style to Tom and Jerry's brand of humor, and a number of the cartoons favored full animation, personality and style over storyline. The characters underwent a slight change of appearance: Tom was given thicker eyebrows (resembling Jones' Grinch, Count Blood Count or Wile E Coyote), a less complex look (including the color of his fur becoming gray), sharper ears, longer tail and furrier cheeks (resembling Jones' Claude Cat or Sylvester), while Jerry was given larger eyes and ears, a lighter brown color, and a sweeter, Porky Pig-like expression.

PS: I hate this era. SUPER BORING angry angry

3. Second Hanna-Barbera era: The Tom and Jerry Show (1975–1977): Tom and Jerry were reunited with Hanna and Barbera, who produced new Tom and Jerry cartoons for Saturday mornings. The return of the founding duo brought about changes to the two characters. Tom and Jerry (now with a red bow tie), who had been enemies during their formative years, became nonviolent pals who went on adventures together, as Hanna-Barbera had to meet the stringent rules against violence for children's TV.

https://1975tomjerry.50megs.com/TJGAcredits1.jpg

4. Filmation era (1980–1982): The Filmation Tom and Jerry cartoons were noticeably different from Hanna-Barbera's efforts, as they returned Tom and Jerry to the original chase formula, with a somewhat more "slapstick" humor format. This incarnation, much like the 1975 version, was not as well received by audiences as the originals, and lasted on CBS Saturday Morning from September 6, 1980 to September 4, 1982. The red bow tie which was seen on Jerry in the Hanna-Barbera era was removed.

https://cdn.screenrant.com/wp-content/uploads/tom-and-jerry-1980.jpg

5. Tom and Jerry's new owners: In 1986, MGM was purchased by WTBS founder Ted Turner. Turner sold the company a short while later, but retained MGM's pre-1986 film library, thus Tom and Jerry became the property of Turner Entertainment (where the rights stand today via Warner Bros.), and have in subsequent years appeared on Turner-run stations, such as TBS, TNT, Cartoon Network, The WB, Boomerang, and Turner Classic Movies.

6. Third Hanna-Barbera era: Tom and Jerry Kids (1990–1994): One of the biggest trends for Saturday morning television in the 1980s and 1990s was the "babyfication" of older, classic cartoon stars, and on March 2, 1990, Tom and Jerry Kids, co-produced by Turner Entertainment and Hanna-Barbera Productions (which would be sold to Turner in 1991) debuted on Fox Kids and for a few years, aired on British children's show, CBBC. It featured a youthful version of the famous cat-and-mouse duo chasing each other. As with the 1975 H-B series, Jerry wears his red bowtie, while Tom now wears a red cap. Spike and his son Tyke (who now had talking dialogue) and Droopy and his son Dripple, appeared in back-up segments for the show, which ran until November 18, 1994. Tom and Jerry Kids was the last Tom and Jerry cartoon series produced in 4:3 (full screen) aspect ratio.

7. Individual episodes (2001 and 2005): In 2001, a new television special titled Tom and Jerry: The Mansion Cat premiered on Boomerang. It featured Joe Barbera (who was also a creative consultant) as the voice of Tom's owner, whose face is never seen. In this cartoon, Jerry, housed in a habitrail, is as much of a house pet as Tom is, and their owner has to remind Tom to not "blame everything on the mouse".

8. Warner Bros. era (2006–2008): During the first half of 2006, a new series called Tom and Jerry Tales was produced at Warner Bros. Animation. Thirteen half-hour episodes (each consisting of three shorts, some of them—like The Karate Guard—were produced and completed in 2003 as part of a 30-plus theatrical cartoon schedule aborted after the financial disaster of Looney Tunes Back in Action) were produced, with only markets outside of the United States and United Kingdom signed up.

9. Second Warner Bros. era (2014): In 2014, Cartoon Network announced a new series consisting of two 11-minute shorts that will preserve the look, core characters and sensibility of the original theatrical shorts. Titled The Tom and Jerry Show, the series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation, with Sam Register serving as executive producer in collaboration with Darrell Van Citters and Ashley Postelwaite at Renegade Animation. Originally slated for an undated 2013 Cartoon Network premiere before being pushed back to April 9, 2014, this is the second Tom and Jerry production presented in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

personal opinion. I hate Asa's brand of music, I find Timi a more appealing alternative so he's a better artiste to me. Asa's hype is 70% based on where she's at and people she's working with, if Timi had that, Asa wouldn't see his back
My dear, save we want to tell a lie, Asa's brand is unique, innovative and refreshing. Asa, unlike many other acts, is not hyped. She's good and she deserves whatever is thrown at her from fans all over the world. Timi's brand is just starting off and it would take a while for him to register his brand on everyone's heart. Timi is good but he's nowhere near Asa. Asa's blend of music is giving Nigeria a total facelift in the Western world. Timi would struggle if given the same people Asa has at her disposal. He would have more of foreign fans than Nigerian fans.

He has done live band performance which he did nt lip synch before, which I attended in Texas in 2012. It was a great live performance compared to psquare and others I witnessed before. Ask those who have witnessed it before. They bill more for this that's why they don't always do it. Talk what you know about.
So it was in Texas you saw him afterall. I think the foreign impression still wears on our artistes afterall. Although, I equally agree with safarigirl and others who mentioned live performance being expensive but truth is, it's quite disgusting if you hear how much these guys charges per show where they get to lip synch. Perhaps they want a live goat+cow added because after their mediocre performances, they take their social media accounts to tell the world how electrifying their show was.

I've never had the opportunity to see D'banj performing live, probably because I don't like him one bit. Although I have seen a handful of his live performances over the TV and it's the same as others. So saying he did a live in Texas or South Africa prior the AFCON is not it. Question is, can we say live performance is his thing or it just comes once in a while? If it's the latter, then he's no different from those on ground.

The commandment in Lev 19:28 is NOT for those who wear tattoos but those who imprint the names of the dead or dead loved ones on their body. Simpl put, it's a warning concerning those who tattoos the images, names or faces of the dead on their body. The Bible never outrightly or explicitly condemn tattoo. I believe it depends on the knowledge of the person in question. Beyond song, it may be impossible to praise 24/7 because even if you desire to, the nerves wouldn't allow. However, praising 24/7 depends on the method the person applies. If it's a full-time praise for one person, then I doubt this. But more than one person, say 20 or more, then it's possible.

Again, with the hassles of this present time, a 24/7 praise is unrealistic.

NB: Either 24/7 or 30 minutes, it's not the duration that matters but the heart with which one has before going to God. Afterall, God searches the heart.

True, the SU does almost nothing other than walk around hostels with public address systems riddled with sirens. Regardless, this is better than nothing.
