Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has sworn - in newly appointed Commissioners and Special Advisers.

The Governor also administered the oath of office on Caretaker Committee Chairmen for the eighteen Local Government Council of the state.

The Commissioners and the local government caretaker Chairmen were sworn - in after they have been duly screened and ratified by the state house of assembly.

The Commissioners include : Mrs Yetunde Adeyanju, Mrs Titilayo Adeyemi, Hon Temitayo Tukana Oluwatuyi, Rt Hon Olotu Fatai and Akindotun Olubunmi Owanikin Esq.

The new Special Advisers are : Hon. Kolawole Babatunde and Hon Oyebo Aladetan .

The Governor congratulated all the newly appointed persons for being selected out of the multitude of equally qualified citizens who are willing to serve diligently.

Arakunrin Akeredolu said his administration has convinced the people of the State of his determination to always make them the centre of his decisions at all times.

He charged the newly appointees, particularly the Caretaker Committee Chairmen of local government Council, to consolidate on the achievements of his administration and that of their predecessors.

The Governor said the present government has been consistent in the implementation of its programme of redemption.

He said : " We have not departed from the path of steady, deliberate and purposeful development since inception of this administration in February 2017. We remain committed towards realising the full potential of our policy document. "

Akeredolu said the main objective of his administration is to open the rural areas for development and community extension services.

"We have opened and upgraded roads through the Rural Access and Mobility Programme (RAMP). We are constructing 1 Km Asphalt Overlay roads in each of the 18 Local Governments

"Public schools in all the LGAs in the State are being renovated massively. Over 700 of such have received attention from this government

"Our people now have more access to potable water and the assurance of inclusion in the activities of the government."Akeredolu said.

For the first time ever, a Nigerian state Governor made an intelligent statement. I'm impressed.

I have no doubt in me that Makinde would perform. So far, he has shown that he came prepared for the Job. His appointments and actions have been very strategic. Maybe it's an initial gragra but let's watch on.

Ondo State's office of the Statistician General has been gutted by fire.

The statistician general's office which is a metre away from the Governor's Office in Alagbaka, Akure was razed at the midnight of Saturday.

Our correspondent reports that the items razed by the inferno included - files and confidential documents electronics, furniture among others.

A staff of the office, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told SaharaReporters that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained as of press time.

"With what we noticed this morning, it shows the inferno happening at the midnight because of the extent of the damages at the office.

"Although, we noticed the incident around 6 am today (Saturday) and as at now no one can ascertain the cause of the fire," he said.

‘I met no money in the treasury’


Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that he took a loan of N7bn to pay workers’ May salaries.

He said this on Monday while addressing leaders of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

He added that he would rather focus on ensuring good governance in the state than pre-occupy himself with the actions or inactions of his predecessor.


He said “We have by far too many things to do than to begin to be bogged down by what someone did or what he did not do or what he left behind.

“I cannot begin to describe in the open to you the Ogun State that we inherited. I cannot begin to describe it to you. I will not because I have made up my mind that publicly and privately, I will not discuss anything about the past administration.


“We have resolved to draw the line and to move forward from there. We need to be focused. We are going to rebrand and re-launch the security trust fund.”

Abiodun added that his first challenge in office was how to pay the May workers’ salary, saying he had to call his friends who are managing directors of banks to get a credit facility of over N7bn to pay the workers.

He said, “30th day of May was our first day in office. And on the 31st, it dawn on me that it was the end of the month and we need to pay salaries.


“But here we are on our second day in office. I don’t even have an office; I don’t even know how to sign any document; I don’t even know what the protocols are. Suddenly, we realised it was 31st and I intend to keep my end of the tripartite agreement. So, I called the Head of Service; I told him we must pay salary. But he said to me, ‘You are new in government and everybody understands that you just assumed office and we don’t have that expectation of you paying salaries now. They (workers) will understand. There is very little or no money. We can talk to them.’


“I told the Head of Service, whether they (the workers) were expectant or not, it was my promise to the people that salaries would be paid as and when due.”

He added, “So, I picked my phone and called my friends who are MDs in different banks. I told them I needed to pay salaries and this is the little I have; almost nothing in the state account.

“I requested for a credit facility to allow me to pay over N7bn which is the state wage bill. That day, my intention was that maybe one or two will oblige me, but the five banks I called obliged me.”


He said civil servants received their alerts that evening and that gave a sense of fulfillment, being his first task in office.

The governor later held a closed-door meeting with the APC chiefs.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Publicity Secretary of party’s caretaker Committee, Mr Tunde Oladunjoye, said the governor called the meeting to brief them on the activities of his administration in the last one month.

The Ondo State Government has taken delivery of new medical equipment worth N2.1 billion.

The new medical equipment are meant to aid the delivery of Qualitative health services in the state.

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, took to his twitter handle to announce the delivery of the first batch of the 20 container trucks.

In his words: "#TalkAndDO Today we took delivery of over N2.1 Billion worth of Medical Equipment (20 Containers) from our partners @medshare. This is just the first batch. We understand that health is wealth and we are doing all in our power to equip all our hospitals. #DevelopOndo"

In another tweet, he stressed that; "Our goal is to ensure that all health centers in the state are equipped with world class equipment and with the launch of our contributory health care scheme, ILERA LORO, we will be removing the barriers to access to quality healthcare statewide. #DevelopOndo"

Akeredolu said that the multimillion Naira ultramodern and state-of-the-art biomedical equipment will be distributed across all the health facilities in the state.

He, however, asked the health professionals in the state to put the equipment to effective and good use.

I don't know how some of you think but I can educate you that the fact that he was retained means he did well in the 8th senate to earn it. The phrase that he cannot reap where he did not sow shows a lack of intellectual capacity development from many of you. He reap because he has sown good work in the past

Good. As much as i believe that the most experienced should always be considered first, the SP made a big mistake to have retained a PDP guy that has been a critic of the APC. You cannot make someone reap where they did not sow. This is politics. Choose from the young folks that campaigned for you. Simple as APC!
