I was reading a thread on Nairaland front page today where a guy was complaining about his girlfriend mismanaging N500,000 he gave her for business.

The problem was not with the topic itself as anyone can mismanage funds, but i cringed when i read the comment of some ladies on the topic. They insulted the op, claiming he was a broke-ass that cannot take care of his girlfriend.

you meet a lady for the first time, you are already making promises to her. You make it seem normal that you should take care of her needs.


Guys giving their girlfriends allowances. This is one of the most stvpid things guys do. Why should you place your girlfriend on salary? Why? Is she an orphan? This has made many girls spoilt and feel entitled. She is a human being like you. Imagine two corpers dating and the guy is taking out of his own allowance and giving it to his corper girlfriend. Guys can be very stvpid. Stop giving your girlfriend salaries. Being a girlfriend is not a career.


Dont use money to 'spoil' her. If she is not worth 1million naira, dont give her 1 million naira. Ladies have shared business ideas with me and you see how dumb the ideas are. Most of them dont know how to do business.

We make the mistake of giving too much. I assure you if you are doing well, you spend on yourself and make yourself look good and comfortable, ladies would be comfortable dating you without you spending unnecessarily on them.

Buy them gifts, take them out, be caring, but be down to earth realistic. Dont make it look like you are plucking money from trees.
