I attended unity secondary school;one of schools in tolu complex. Unity secondary schools happens to be the oldest among about 16 secondary schools in the complex. Tolu complex was built by Lateef Jakande in the 80's. These government schools were built for those that cant afford expensive schools.

HI,

I have read your response. I think we must critically appraise some of our practices so that we get better. I believe the author raised a valid question that believers must ponder about..Does religious practices/beliefs in any ramification address any of the problems in our dear nation? For example:

1. Poverty.
2. Corruption.
3, Lack of development.
4. Stagnant mindset.
5. Limitation in problem solving and creativity.
6. Limits reason and seemed to encourage
magical thinking, miracles and superstition.
7. Competency?
8. Leadership, accountability and a clear
vision.
9. Critical thinking and outcome based on
knowledge.
No doubt the values or morals contained in any religious books be it Christianity, Islam, Judaims, Hinduism or school of thought such
as Buddha as its place.

However, the reality is that history shows that
empires from the past such as the Abbysinnia
, Egypt, Greece, Roman, Ottoman, persia
empires were renowned becase their
civilisation and influenve wete based on
knowledge.

Currently, the most developed countries with
better economics are based on knowledge..
Science, Technology and Mathematics.
The bottom line is that knowledge is superior
than faith. Religious beliefs or doctrine should not only be limited to scriptures or historic literature of the past.
As a nation we all need to spend more time on acquiring skills that can solve our present challenges, gained technological advancement
to reduce poverty.
Personally, as a nation deluded by religions
doctrine we waste a signifiant amount of time
on Fridays and sundays praying to some
imaginary being for divine intervention to solve all our problems such mindset is not forward thinking. The Gospel and the salvation of Jesus should be a source of moral guidance.
However, personal responsibilty and awareness of problem solving must be a norm.
Imagine. If the time or hours millions of
faithfuls spend in religions places on fridays and sundays where used in a farm or to acquire some type of skills it will be productive
collectively.
You can still be a morally upright and be functional member of society without
religions indoctrination.
No modern progressive country in this
current time appoints or elect leaders solely
based on their religious indoctrinations.
For nigeria as a nation and Nigerians as a people to develop and grow we must value
knowledge and competence and encourage
people who have qualities to lead in every
areas of our institutions.
Religion doctrines, programmes, and fanatism is not the remedy for the current challenges of this days. The prophesy and preaching of
moses, Jesus, st paul, Mohammed are helpful about the past but the future requires a different stratedy based on knowledge.

Please note spiritiality differs from religion.
God gives knowledge, understanding and wisdom. We must move ahead with knowledge like any develop country and leave behind ignorance and backward doctrines.

Church and mosques are adding their own moral quota values to the society. Show us what moral values quota you are adding than complaining and complaint as if you are only born to complain in life? Those of you who are poor materially and mentally are always the ones to come online to talk rubbish without any physical impact to society you are making than complaint. Rich men are uncountable in churches and morally balance without making noise. Davido's father despite his riches never used his position to bad mouthed churches and mosques. It is only people like you that is not only poor materially, but mentally that always rush to social media to talk rubbish.

If your father or mother never benefited from morality taught in churches and mosques, there is a chance your pregnancy would have been terminated without either of them feeling remorseful. If there are no churches and mosques trying to do their best to increase moral values in the society, do you think you can enjoy life without them? Majority of people living morally today were once harden criminals and bad guys that would have injured you if they were not picked up to have changed of life.

Morality will keep increasing as Jesus prophesied at the end time in matheu 24, "... Sin shall multiplied..", everybody will be lovers of themselves...Wheather churches or mosques increase or not, Jesus prophesy will come to pass. Sin has already multiplied, but as population increases, it is better to keep having more good churches even close to your house with aim of reducing negative impact of increasing sins in the society which indirectly protect you from those that would have been more dangerous towards you but captured by church.

No church or mosque will tell you go and be corrupt, but if you are determined to get corrupt; it your decision and not the church responsibility to monitor your mind in your closest. If church remove all their moral people away from earth or instructed to back to their past ways before they encountered Jesus; you can not survive in the world that will be left for you to leave. Focus your energy on your government, churches and mosques are not your problem.

The issue is that, in Nigeria or
third world African countries, the
duties your government, father or
spouse etc are supposed to do, they
fail and instead of holding them responsible
you turn to God to perform the duties
of man.


Abroad, work is readily available for
you, therefore you don't need to write
application letter to take to your pastor
or imam to pray over it, apply anointing
oil and 7 days fasting to beg God to give
you the job.


In Nigeria, If your husband is irresponsible
and refuses to buy food and pay school
fees, you report to your pastor who may
call the husband for counselling and
also you the wife to pray to God to turn
his behavior around.

Abroad, you don't need pastor or God
to beg him. Just report him to authorities
and they will compel him to pay a certain
monthly upkeep to his family. If he fails
for just one day, na prison get am.

Again, abroad, Students seeking university education don't need to pray and fast to for JAMB to answer them, because schools are
everywhere and even if you no get money,
scholarship or students loan is available,
therefore God doesn't come into the
picture.

In fact, too much religiosity is a symptom
of a failed society and hopelessness on
the side of the citizens😢😢😢😢

Any society that is overly religious, you
will find that poverty is serious in such
societies. See Muslim northern Nigeria for
example. They are ready to slaughter and
burn in the name of their prophet, but are
the poorest, disease ridden, illiterate
societies in Nigeria.

As for the kids, if they are not orphan? Where are the parents? Why are parents failing in their responsibilities.. You born pikin, you must be prepared to take care of their welfare and needs unless you are impaired by disability and pooe health... Too many fathers and mothers having children for self gratification but they do not care and are emotonally absent... These persons should be held accountable and penalised.

For someone to send that amount you deem small, are you aware of her living conditions in Canada? Do you know if she's living fine and has no health issues ?
She has not visited Nigeria once and you didn't think that she might be finding it difficult to survive not to talk of footing the bills to visit her family in Nigeria
This just boils down to lack of communication cos she's your sister and you should at least be aware of the happenings in her life
She'll obviously be depressed cos she's single, alone and now her family dey judge her join

Here is my story....

I have a 3 siblings and I am at odds with my eldest who is a lady. The way it is, I may never have a conversation with her again.

She was the first person to be invested in by my parents after which I came. Luckily enough, she was able to strike gold in her career and do well for herself. She went abroad for her masters with my parents supporting with half-payment. Unfortunately, whenever it came to family demands and helping the other younger siblings, she has either been negligent or grudgingly does so.

Few years after going abroad, she decided to lockup and sends only 40k home which is supposed to cater for food for a month.
Now parents are retired, the whole family weight falls on my following sibling and I. The youngest one education is on me. Happy she will finish soon. Parents need to be supported in challenging times, one is coping with diabetes and the other is with some challenging issues I can't say here. Their savings are being sapped by their needs to keep living on.

But my so-called elder sister based in Canada despite knowing their condition is silent. She still sends her peanuts, while I and my younger brother who is an upcoming fashion designer do 2X what she does. This aches our parents and sometimes makes our mother cry and our father rant with regret.

A time now came, our mum got admitted in the hospital. Condition was so salient that she had to be hospitalized for weeks. Hospital bill was 450k. The Canada-based first born doing a good job, who was always talking to her, praying with her on phone, etc only sent 100k. We the others did the rest. Glad mum is back at home but her heart is broken and has refused to talk with her. She's been in Canada for 5 years and has refused to even support any of her siblings to come abroad too.

My other siblings say because we all refuse to be dictated to by her is the reason for her behaviour. I don't care. Mine is that if you know that you are going to be useless to a family, let your parents know before hand so the money used in training/feeding you can be used for farming business which will despite bad weather bring returns than on a child who feels is not obligated to support the parents who supported you all through.

Goodmorning house. Family and friends are pressuring me to marry but this is the dilemma am going through.

Genotype has become a major barrier for me to get married to lady whom I love. We are tested both AS. My fiancee is from the same ethnic and christian background like me.

On the other hand, I have this female friend whom i recently ask to know about her gnotype. She told me she is AA. Like joke, i ask for confirmation and she brought all d test results frm different lab. The issue is now this female friend is not from my tribe, she from a muslim background although she does not seriously practice it.

My fiancee from my tribal background, but genotype did not match with me. And the other lady from different background, she is AA and match with me. One girl I dated then was AA but the love was not there between us.

Its really frustrating to be AS if you are a Man that want to settle down I am really confused right now. Am above 30. How do i handle this issue of Genotype, ethinc and religious issues? Pls i need advice.
