If in a hide-and-seek game, the one whose turn is it to search searches for his/her peers and couldn't find them, absence of evidence occur, would that form a rational basis for the evidence of absence? Explain.

From your definition(leave the unnecessary part) Atheism is just a Belief there is no God. Would I be wrong to say atheists, in defence of atheism, build their conclusions on "Faith" based premises?

This is your first problem. Atheist don't say that there's no god. Atheists say that they don't believe the claim that God exists. These are two very different things.

One is the rejection of a positive claim. The other is a positive claim. Someone who says they don't believe in a God has no need to disprove the God claim.

The burden of proof lies on the person making the claim. If you claim that a god does exist then it's YOUR job to prove it. It's not the other person's job to prove it false.

If someone says the there is no God, they are now making a claim that does carry a burden of proof. But we atheists don't claim that God, in fact, does not exist. We simply reject the claims that one does.

So you can toss all the word salads you want. But you're not gonna pin the burden of proof on us. You claim that God is real, then it's your job to prove it. Plain and simple.

Very good. So what atheism has is a 'BELIEF' and not a 'FACT' that there's no God? A simply yes will do.

It is not an illogical proposition in Atheism but Atheism is the illogical proposition. I've been thinking: 'If absence of evidence is not evidence of presence(or absence) on what ground is atheism logical?'

The question is, how was atheism arrived at from rational thought?

It's the same thing with an atheist. No thinking man will call himself an atheist. Expecting honesty from one feels like losing his/her atheistic faith.

you might try searching Nairaland for posts about people like me claiming no god exists; just five people making the claim out of the many active members of this section would be enough

A counterclaim built on a counter belief with counter faith. I don't need search anywhere to see claims made by atheists on the existence of any God. I'd be deceiving myself to pretend atheists don't say that.

But on a rational level isn't a counter claim still a claim? If 'claims' are simply statements of truth doesn't atheism qualify as one? Maybe my learning is poor, please, what is a counter claim?

so? why does one group have the right to scream that he does and the other group can't also claim he doesn't

But this one group speak of revelations from a supreme being, speak a strange language(speaking in tongues) which even our science have not shown to be forged, does some healings which their members attest to. Aren't their stories logical enough for a belief in whatever they believe in? I'm not holding brief for theism. Do we just assume they are all lying to themselves?

Now let's look at the atheist. First, the absence of evidence is neither the absence nor presence of existence. The atheist's hold on truth here is on the absence of evidence. Is this logical. Shouldn't criticism and any position come with understanding? What's the 'understanding' behind atheism?

My post doesn't admit that a God doesn't exist, don't misinterpret it. It's simply that the evidence provided by theists is not really as palpable as we'd want it to be. It doesn't support the notion you are trying to tag to it.

Deal? That line makes little sense. If the theists and atheists come to such agreement what then? First, you've never heard an atheist say that God doesn't exist but in conclusion we should strike a deal on its cessation. Genius!

Of course atheism is not a claim that no God exists. Atheism is:
A BELIEF that no God exists. Argued with the same FAITH any other Theist argues his religion.

These guys may not believe in God but to become Atheistic because of a lack of evidence can only be rational if their is presence of evidence.
