A 20-year-old man, Juan Penayo, surprised his grieving family when he walked into the funeral they were holding for him.

The incident took place in Paraguay, in the village of Santa Teresa in the eastern department of Amambay, reports Mirror UK.

Penayo returned home after he had been missing for several days and his family and friends suspected foul play.

Police had earlier discovered the gruesome remains of a burned body that could not be identified and family members believed it was Penayo.

As drug gangs operated in the area, they feared that he had become involved in trouble and killed.

Organised crime specialist, Candido Figueredo, told local media that Penayo left his home on Thursday last week and had not come back.

Manchester United are set to tie David de Gea down to a new five-year deal which will make him the highest paid goalkeeper in world football.

Marca are reporting that the Red Devils have now reached an agreement to secure De Gea’s future at Old Trafford after another impressive season at the club.

The Spaniard will earn a gross total of €21m (£18.4m) per year for each of his next five seasons at the club. This amounts to a rough figure of €404,000 (or £354,000) per week.

De Gea is expected to return to United and sign the new, lucrative deal after the World Cup.

His number will dwarf the amount earned by all other goalkeepers on the planet, as it is understood that the second highest earning stopper is Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer, who gets a gross total of €15m (£13.1m) per year.

The decision to put De Gea on this wage comes after he was named United’s ‘Player of the Year’ for the fourth time in five seasons.

Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, has revealed why he chose Nigeria over Germany.

Balogun played for the age groups in Germany before he switched his international allegiance to the West African country, following a phone call with former head coach, Stephen Keshi.

In an interview with The Players Tribune, the Brighton new signing also explained why he never supported the German national team.

“One night in March, my phone rang. It was a Nigerian number … it was Stephen Keshi, the Nigerian National Team manager. I was sweating as soon as he introduced himself. I wanted him to say the words I had thought about for so long. He spoke for awhile about how he wasn’t totally familiar with me, but he liked how I played.

“Then he said it: ‘I would like to invite you to be a Super Eagle.’

“Those words … they meant so much to me. It meant validation for every step of my footballing journey. It meant happiness for my family. Most of all, it meant an opportunity to go to Nigeria.

“And that … that was everything to me.

“I never supported the German national team, mostly because I thought they were arrogant and their football was boring to watch. Even in 2006, when Germany hosted and the whole country had World Cup mania — I secretly cheered for them to lose. Because I was a kid, and I was rebellious.
