The Government failed in its bid to protect innocent citizens - fact. The Government directly sent corp members from the south to the north amongst other Federal workers. - fact. The FG can now take several steps to protect lives and properties. The first short-term solution will be to immediately bring back to the Southern corpers home until such a time that adequate security measures can be provided. The medium term plan would be to impose a six month curfew on the affected States. Borno has had a curfew in place for the past one year ( yet see what the murderers are still doing there). This would give time for adequate security reports on the activities of the perpetrators, and possibly, total destruction of their operations. In the long term, the steady supply of soldiers for this murderous army should be blocked. How? Educate, I mean, really educate the almajiris. Using legal means, stop the use of children as beggars under the guise of Islamic education. It is such children that have been easily brainwashed over the years because they are psychologically disadvantaged. Now educate these children and ban any mallam from using the kids as child slave beggars. |
Blazay:You should not ridicule the religion of others. I'm sure you would instantly get on the defensive if the same was done to you. |
Digriz:You got it wrong. The emirs have nothing to do with this. It is a fundamental problem that has to do with people giving birth to children they can't take care of, thus sending them to mallams as almajiris. This creates a virile recruiting ground for those that believe that they can only be holy by shedding blood. |
Don't really care about how he was appointed. I am glad he was and is efficient. Is the Nigerian banking industry now as healthy as it should be? How can Nigeria further benefit from the man in the banking sector? |
This news is so exciting!! May those that wish to take innocent lives keep killing themselves. They deserve to die one by one. |
Thank God. May they die off one by one. Classic case of lunatics digging a hole for innocents to fall in, but fortunately, ending up in it themselves. Useless, worthless individuals. |
Since u have a man, darling, just be friends with this new dude. It's not all about having affairs. You might experience something rich with him. |

It's incredible how your thread has been hijacked. Anyways, congratulations are in order. How has your first month been? |
1forall:I love the response. The process as described by the moderator is the natural order of things. When such opportunities come our way, it makes sense to take full advantage of it. Naturally you should update your CV every quarter in order to be ready whenever an opportunity presents itself. |
Well, I expected the general to reject the results. That type of corruption is innate in him. What I did not expect was for him to stay aloof while his supporters unleashed mayhem on innocent people, but then, you know what they say - "Powerlessness" corrupts, and absolute "powerlessness" corrupts absolutely. |
Nigerians have spoken. The vociferous minority should not murder their way into power at the expense of the progressive majority. From Adamawa, to Taraba, Benue to Anambra, Delta to Lagos, the people have spoken. The blood-thirsty minority should leave us alone. |
Reports reaching me say there is chaos in Maiduguri. |
reindeer:That was in Kano. In Kaduna, Churches, Mr. Biggs etc. were burnt. Those were also attested to by eye witnesses |
Will GenBuhari stop posting large fonts pls. Stop spreading falsehood. Buhari did not win any official online poll. Nairaland poll does not represent the views of a large majority of Nigerians. If you were on ground, you would know that the rigging was done by CPC, when they sent underage children to vote. In addition, they were holding all sorts of meetings right there at the polling units. Even with this, they lost, and now they want to force their choice down our throats. Buhari is a loser, and he lost convincingly. A vast majority of Nigerians do not want him. |
It has spread to Kano! Kano is burning as I speak. Information has it that Galadima's house, Naaba's house, and several elders' houses have been burnt. I understand even the emir's abode was attacked. This is getting really worrisome. The North is on fire. |
Thank God for Nairaland. Now, all can read about what we go through in the North. You won't believe how much of this type of random killings occur, yet the incidents are swept under the carpet with little media coverage. It's good to see those on ground giving us updates on the development. This thread is not only relevant, it gives an opportunity for the oppressed to be heard. Now, what is the fighting about? Some desperate people rigged an election and still lost. Now they want to force their choice down our throats. It's also happening in Bauchi and Gombe. Na by force? We no want! We no want! We no want! Seriously, people should accept defeat when they have been roundly routed. |
GoodMuyis:Thank God you are safe. May God continue to protect you guys. Let us should stop justifying these ridiculous acts of violence by accusing PDP of rigging. This is false. If anything, CPC rigged this election massively with underage voting and polling unit campaigns. Now they want to start their normal blood-letting under the guise of political grievance. |
It's refreshing to see politicians accepting the results of the elections honorably. It's a good thing as long as such elections are free and fair. |
deezzle: |
ekt_bear:I totally agree with u. Nothing good can come out of that posturing. |
The state of democracy then and now is appalling. That was not an excuse for anyone to carry out a coup. What he did then was to set a precedence for other messianic individuals (IBB, Abacha) to carry out their own coups. You see, the problem is that we are considering the acts of individuals (Buhari, Jonathan, etc.), and not the process which serves as a receptacle for the actions of these individuals. If we consider processes, then we will blame Buhari for the other coups cos he started the process of coup plotting post-second republic. He is the progenitor of corruption epitomized by IBB because he gave IBB the opportunity to also carry out a coup. He is the source of our woes. |
tolufaj:One luv bruv. |
rasputinn:I'm feeling u bros (ever since the "stock market tips for Nigerians" thread). Bakare was indeed used by God. |
Someone asked in one of the threads what Buhari's offence is? S/He wanted to know why people had misgivings about the man. This is my attempt to answer the poster: Buhari's "ooffiense" is that in the early 80's he started a movement of coupists that all but destroyed the democratic PROCESS we were building. Had that process been allowed to take it's natural course, we would have evolved politically to such an extent that the current level of corruption we are seeing in the polity would have been reduced by constantly effective checks and balances. The current corruption in the polity is as a result of Buhari's coup. His coup birthed IBB's, Abacha's etc, hence he should be held responsible for the mess we find ourselves in. Buhari is the reason we are in this mess. |

Donlittle:What??!! Where are the agents of the other parties? Crazy stuff |
Thank God for democracy. Imagine if Buhari was still a GOC or a highly placed military man on active duty, coup for don happen since. Jonathan would be in kirikiri right now, and all Governors would be locked up. Now he has to struggle to get the power he has coveted all his life. Na IBB spoil him show those days, when him go overthrow baba Buhari. Keep trying Buhari. Unfortunately, it ain't urs for the taking. |
This was the same way Buhari felt in 1983; the only difference is that at that time, he could do what he knew how to do best - he got rid of the opposition (coup). Nowadays, the General does not have loyal troops to execute any coup, so he reacts emotionally. Tell the General that even if the Government of the day is bad, he still needs to defeat them at the polls in order to rule. Unfortunately, he ain't gonna win, hence will not benefit from a process he never believed in. |
