Well, I have discovered that there is nothing like building a good relationship and friendship. I hav a friend who works in one cable tv that has decided to help. I hav a friend also who works with frcn and he is ready to assist me with jingles and other radio advert strategies.

In due time, I wil start revealing some secrets of bulk sms marketing.

Good. What is the competitive pricing like? I want to be selling at 1 unit equals to 1 sms. What price is competitive? 1.30k? 1.40k? 1.50? 1.60k? 1.70k? 1.80?

I never clicked on any advert on nairaland, so I dont think NL ad converts.

Am looking at:
1. handbills
2. digital banners
3. stickers
4. radio
5. cable tv (like acbn)
6. word of mouth

Just offline stuff.

1. Nairaland: Many people click the ads. It works. Try a small campaign and see if it works for you.

2. Since you are targeting offline ads, then your pricing can push upwards a bit. Maybe around 1.5 - 2.00 . My previous suggestion for mainly for online ads. Most people offline still think SMS is N4 so if you sell it to them @ 1.8 they will not complain much.

3. You want to advertise on cable TV? Won't that be too expensive?

Thank you @sarutobi. What are the advert strategies one need to adopt?

1. ur pricing needs to be very competitive. Other providers are just a click away.

2. Advertise here on Nairaland. I have seen good results. Just target relevant sections.

3. I am not sure about adwords. But Facebook is good too.

4. Lastly, nothing beats walking up to your prospects and showing them what you can do.

If bulk sms business is really lucrative, how much are you making from it? What are the challenges you faced? How did you overcome the initial challenges?

This guy : smswazobia.com claims to be making 650k per month. He has more than 4000 registered users on his portal.

Honestly i don't know what exactly to say. But from experience, bulk sms is just like every Nigerian business.

It can make you 100K - 150K per month if you do it properly. The people making 650k etc will not be many sha. But i believe there are mega resellers out there who should be raking in figures close to millions per month.

You must advertise. WELL. people must know you. WELL. One thing i can tell you is that it sells fast but the profit margin is low. So volume is KING.

can someone who has no basic programming knowledge use it? is it as simple as building sites with wordpress?

see sneaky power of the app in design here

http://potdomains.com/

Unfortunately no.

Codeigniter is a framework, Wordpress is a CMS.

The difference is that with wordpress you can create simple websites, with codeigniter you can create Wordpress. You can even create Facebook with codeigniter. You see the difference?

You must be mid-level or pro-level with PHP to use codeigniter comfortably. you will struggle with it if you are new.

Have you heard of this application and as well used it?

It proudly powers www.padisoft.org One of my projects.

It is a simple, minimalistic PHP framework. I like it cos it does not assume too much and it does not take away the programmer's power like other popular frameworks.
For instance, Symfony, Lavarel and Yii all have modules for authentication, ACL, Manipulating Javascript etc. There is no fun in that (IMO).

Its just a set of simple tools. You should try it.

Hello Guru in the house how do i design sites like www.,www.africanwebservice.com,cnn.com.&?
pls details.
thanks

My brother, contrary to the suggestions above, these sites you mentioned (except www.africanwebservice.com) are robust web application, Not ordinary websites. If you are a beginner, stop looking at those sites for now and start trying your hands on easier sites. You will need ebooks and a laptop. You can get free web design ebooks online.

Nairabet for example is most likely built by a team of expert programmers. We are talking around 10+ years of experience.

Try you hands on easier sites first so that you do not get discouraged at the beginning.

Since his number are already stored on database. He must loop to fetch and/or array it, he can separate with comma or space and push it to the API.

No sir.

He should fetch it once.
Then with php do implode($string, $phoneNumbersArray); where the $string can be a comma.

Thats all. No looping.

Can someone give me steps to add bulk sms to a php site. I intend to loop through phone numbers of clients and send sms to them.

What steps should i take? No Phone numbers,e-books or whats app yet. Lets start here first thanks.

You do not need to loop at all.
Some sms api accepts bulk phone numbers separated by comma and you can send multipaged sms as a single one.

Check out www.padisoft.org for such api. Contact me if you have issues.

Programming / Re: Microsoft Ports. NET To Linux And Macintosh, Goes Open-sources; Is Java Doomed? by sarutobi: 10:04am On Dec 08, 2014
Everyone is making sense here but one thing still stands:

A programmer with over 10 years experience in java will not jump ship just cause C# is now open source.

I hear a lot of how good c# is, but no thanks.
