Sports / Stephen Keshi Fired As Eagles Coach by sarzwizard(m): 3:39am On Jul 05, 2015 |
Stephen Keshi’s contract as head coach of the Super Eagles has been terminated, the Nigeria Football Federation has announced. The 53-year-old who was re-appointed as the country’s senior national team coach in April was kicked out on Saturday evening, with assistant Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF led by Amodu Shuaibu to take offer till a substantive handler is announced. “Having thoroughly reviewed the reports/ findings of the NFF disciplinary committee and NFF Technical and Development Committee, as well as having reviewed the actions and inactions of Mr. Stephen Keshi, in the performance of his duties as Super Eagles’ head coach, which we found to lack the required commitment to achieve the ederation’s objectives as set out in the coach’s employment contract,” a statement by the NFF Executive Committee read. “To this end and pursuant to the provisions of clause 4.3 of the employment contract between Mr. Stephen Keshi and the NFF (the contract) and the various clauses therein, the Nigeria Football Federation has decided to exercise its option to summarily terminate the employment contract of Mr. Stephen Keshi with the Federation with immediate effect.” “It added that the termination was “without prejudice to the settlement of any existing and due financial obligations between the NFF and Mr. Keshi. “In the interim, the Super Eagles’ team affairs will be jointly managed by assistant Coach, Salisu Yusuf and the Technical Directorate of the NFF headed by Coach Shuaibu Amodu, until the Federation names in due course a new head coach, who, along with the NFF will chart a new direction for the Super Eagles to ensure credible participation in international competitions and assist in building a sustainable football culture for the country,” it concluded. The former Mali and Togo handler job came under intense scrutiny since the 2-0 victory over Chad after he put a non-league player on the bench and his name also appeared on the FIF website as one of more than 50 coaches applying for Cote d’Ivoire national team job. m.goal.com/x/en-ng/news/13301362 |

Politics / 10 Facts About New Senate President Bukola Saraki by sarzwizard(m): 8:20pm On Jun 09, 2015 |
This move has been causing rifts in the seemingly unbreakable All Progressives Congress, with many members’ loyalty being questioned. Sen. Bukola Saraki may be on his way back to the PDP Here are some facts you don’t know about the new Senate president. 1. He was born in 19 December, 1962, and is originally a medical doctor. 2. His father is Dr. Abubakar Olusola Saraki, a one time Senate president (1979 – 1983) in Nigeria. 3. He studied medicine at the London Hospital Medical College of the University of London from 1982 to 1987 and practiced as a medical doctor at Rush Green Hospital in London. 4. His political career kick started when he was appointed by the former president Olusegun Obasanjo his special assistant on budget issues in 2000. 5. He was the one who initiated the Fiscal Responsibility Bill and served on the Economic Policy Coordination Committee. 6. On 2003 under the umbrella of the then ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, he ran for and won the governorship of Kwara state. 7. He was Kwara state governor for two terms, from 2003 till 2011, and had mostly positive reviews of his job. 8. He was the first Nigerian governor to be awarded the national honour, a Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). 9. Many governors have tried to copy Saraki’s community health insurance scheme, environmental ‘Clean and Green’ scheme and agricultural transformation scheme, which have been praised as one of the reasons Kwara is a profitable and clean state. 10. Before becoming a senator, he was the former chairman of the Nigerian Governor’s Forum. www.naij.com/456207-10-facts-about-new-senate-president-bukola-saraki.html cc:lalasticlala 1 Share

On the positive significance,we can basically congratulate them by having improved the technology in a very high rate as compared to the time it would have taken if it were for our own . In the negative part is where their culture has totally corrupted us moraly. What do i mean? Science/Technology / Is Cph4 Real by sarzwizard(m): 12:07pm On May 31, 2015 |
I saw Luc Besson's Lucy this weekend. The plot hinges on Lucy recieving an overdose of CPh4, a drug (natural product found in pregnancy at week 6) that accelerates brain activation. The plot is fun but full of holes. Morgan Freeman, the neuroscientist in the film, claims that we only use 10% of our brains. This simply is false. We use our whole brain--100%-- just not all at once. For example, we may use our visual system sometimes--our taste system some different time-- anger sometimes-- love other times--in any case, the whole brain gets a workout over a long enough period of time. The human brain runs hot--it is 3% of body mass but uses 20% of our energy (up to 40% during critical growth)--we could not afford 100% use continually--too much glucose. What would high continual use look like if it ever happened-- would we achieve this supposedly superhuman level-- not really-- clinically we see extreme nerve activity in epilepsy--epilepsy is uncontrolled excitation--if Lucy really had 100% of her brain continually active she would be writhing on the ground in a seizure. Indeed she would pretty quickly go into a state of status epilepticus-- which would be fatal. So the science is just wrong. Besson claims CPh4 is an actual substance. Could be. There is a class of agents called growth factors. There are numerous growth factor for neurons, as well as for glia (nerve support cells)-- examples include NGF, BDNGF; indeed there re about 100 different growth factors, and CPh4 could be one of these. The film mentions that CPh4 promotes bone growth--there indeed are bone growth factors. They are called BMPs--bone morphogenetic proteins That said, excess growth of the brain would not increase functional capacity-- we call increased brain growth cancer not superpowers -- increased bone growth would be acromegaly--not a pretty sight for Ms J--she deserves better. So, sorry all, but we are not going to get to genius level by taking a wonder-pill. In closing I might add that I have taken some purported cognition enhancers-I also have tested a number of them clinically-sorry--they just don't work. Pretty gbood movie, however. |
Health / Re: Do People Only Use 10 Percent Of Their Brains? by sarzwizard(m): 11:11am On May 31, 2015 |
Although it's true that at any given moment all of the brain's regions are not concurrently firing, brain researchers using imaging technology have shown that, like the body's muscles, most are continually active over a 24-hour period. "Evidence would show over a day you use 100 percent of the brain," says John Henley, a neurologist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Even in sleep, areas such as the frontal cortex, which controls things like higher level thinking and self- awareness, or the somatosensory areas, which help people sense their surroundings, are active, Henley explains. Take the simple act of pouring coffee in the morning: In walking toward the coffeepot, reaching for it, pouring the brew into the mug, even leaving extra room for cream, the occipital and parietal lobes, motor sensory and sensory motor cortices, basal ganglia, cerebellum and frontal lobes all activate. A lightning storm of neuronal activity occurs almost across the entire brain in the time span of a few seconds. "This isn't to say that if the brain were damaged that you wouldn't be able to perform daily duties," Henley continues. "There are people who have injured their brains or had parts of it removed who still live fairly normal lives, but that is because the brain has a way of compensating and making sure that what's left takes over the activity." Being able to map the brain's various regions and functions is part and parcel of understanding the possible side effects should a given region begin to fail. Experts know that neurons that perform similar functions tend to cluster together. For example, neurons that control the thumb's movement are arranged next to those that control the forefinger. Thus, when undertaking brain surgery, neurosurgeons carefully avoid neural clusters related to vision, hearing and movement, enabling the brain to retain as many of its functions as possible. What's not understood is how clusters of neurons from the diverse regions of the brain collaborate to form consciousness. So far, there's no evidence that there is one site for consciousness, which leads experts to believe that it is truly a collective neural effort. Another mystery hidden within our crinkled cortices is that out of all the brain's cells, only 10 percent are neurons; the other 90 percent are glial cells, which encapsulate and support neurons, but whose function remains largely unknown. Ultimately, it's not that we use 10 percent of our brains, merely that we only understand about 10 percent of how it functions. www.scientificamerican.com/article/do-people-only-use-10-percent-of-their-brains/ |
Health / Do People Only Use 10 Percent Of Their Brains? by sarzwizard(m): 11:06am On May 31, 2015 |
The human brain is complex. Along with performing millions of mundane acts, it composes concertos, issues manifestos and comes up with elegant solutions to equations. It's the wellspring of all human feelings, behaviors, experiences as well as the repository of memory and self-awareness. So it's no surprise that the brain remains a mystery unto itself. Adding to that mystery is the contention that humans "only" employ 10 percent of their brain. If only regular folk could tap that other 90 percent, they too could become savants who remember π to the twenty-thousandth decimal place or perhaps even have telekinetic powers. Though an alluring idea, the "10 percent myth" is so wrong it is almost laughable, says neurologist Barry Gordon at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore. Although there's no definitive culprit to pin the blame on for starting this legend, the notion has been linked to the American psychologist and author William James, who argued in The Energies of Men that "We are making use of only a small part of our possible mental and physical resources." It's also been associated with Albert Einstein, who supposedly used it to explain his cosmic towering intellect. The myth's durability, Gordon says, stems from people's conceptions about their own brains: they see their own shortcomings as evidence of the existence of untapped gray matter. This is a false assumption. What is correct, however, is that at certain moments in anyone's life, such as when we are simply at rest and thinking, we may be using only 10 percent of our brains. "It turns out though, that we use virtually every part of the brain, and that [most of] the brain is active almost all the time," Gordon adds. "Let's put it this way: the brain represents three percent of the body's weight and uses 20 percent of the body's energy." The average human brain weighs about three pounds and comprises the hefty cerebrum, which is the largest portion and performs all higher cognitive functions; the cerebellum, responsible for motor functions, such as the coordination of movement and balance; and the brain stem, dedicated to involuntary functions like breathing. The majority of the energy consumed by the brain powers the rapid firing of millions of neurons communicating with each other. Scientists think it is such neuronal firing and connecting that gives rise to all of the brain's higher functions. The rest of its energy is used for controlling other activities—both unconscious activities, such as heart rate, and conscious ones, such as driving a car. |

Average people include me use only 10% of brain capacity by working, learning, moving, socializing, etc What happen if someone reach 100% brain capacity ? These higher percentages correlate with her brain capacity usage 1) control of the cell; 2) control of others; 3) control of matter; and 4) control of time. A blue crystalline synthetic drug called CPH4 (finction name) that make someone reach 100% brain capacity The real chemical name is 6- carboxytetrahydropterin synthase CPH4 is a molecule that the pregnant woman is making it after six weeks of pregnancy in very - very tiny quantities. And it’s true that the power of this product for a baby is the power of an atomic bomb. (Fact) Yes, it is fun if we can control universe... ***Quote from Lucy** Learning's always a painful process. Like when you're little and your bones are growing and you ache all over. Do you believe I can remember the sound of my own bones growing? Like this grinding under the skin. Everything's different now. Like sounds are music that I can understand, like fluids. It's funny, I used to be so concerned with who I was and what I wanted to be, and now that I have access to the furthest reaches of my brain, I see things clearly and realize that what makes us "us" — it's primitive. They're all obstacles. One neuron, you're alive. Two neurons you're moving. And with movement, interesting things begin to happen. Time is the only true unit of measure, it gives proof to the existence of matter, without time, we don’t exist. Life was given to us a billion years ago. What have we done with it?
