I am sure these heavyweight politicians will return to the PDP. My only fear is their ambitions. Alhaji Rasheed Ladoja, Otunba Alao Akala and Engr Seyi Makinde are all eyeing the governorship seat. If the former governors can throw their weight behind Engr Seyi Makinde, the youngest of the trio, PDP will sweep the 2019 polls.
am telling man no candidate is as formidable as Seyi Makinde let Akala and Ladoja just step down and vie for Senate ..we can't rule Jumoke Akinjide,Teslim Folarin and the likes...The APC on the other hand...anyways 2019 will be interesting to watch in Oyo state

Politics / Re: Asari Dokubo: "Lagos Will Be Nothing Without Ijaw Oil" (Video Interview) by sashash(m): 11:50am On Jul 05, 2017
oyatz:
Most people in Nigeria wrongly assume that Nigeria or various tribes of oil producing region own oil, this is not true at all.

1) The oil companies ( mostly foreign) own the oil.
They went to borrowed billions of dollars from reputable financial institutions, paid for prospecting licenses, drill and extract oil, sometimes from the depth of the ocean and sell the crude oil while paying an agreed percentage of the proceeds to the federation account.

2) The knotty issue is that they pay whatever they like because, Nigeria doesn't have the technical capacity to determine the actual quantity of oil they extract...this illustrate the superiority of knowledge over ignorance.

3) When Nigerians, especially the Niger deltans militants shout 'our oyel' they don't know that the oil is only theirs in name but in reality, the oil companies own the oil.

4) The best way for these oil rich region to fully achieve resource control is through ECONOMIC means.
Let the Governments and peoples of the Niger Delta float their own oil companies, sell shares to foreign technical partners, sell like 10% of the shares to other Nigerians in companies that will be publicly quoted on the stock exchanges in Nigeria, London, New York or J'burg and start businesses.. They can't lose, they have comparative advantages over the Northerners and Afonja they love to accuse of undue benefit from oil.

5) If they must be genuine peace in the oil rich Niger Delta region, I expect sensible FG to deliberately encourage direct participation of the Niger Delta peoples in the oil industry ...militants won't be blowing oil installations if Delta, Bayelsa States Governments, Tompolo, Edwin Clark, GEJ, Asari-Dokubo & other potential trouble makers are part owners of oil refineries scattered across Akwa-Ibom , Bayelsa,Ondo to Delta States.
The FG can even give out money to workers in the oil companies to buy shares in the oil companies while repayment is done by monthly minimal deductions from their salaries over 10years, so when they retire, they become pensioners-shareholders...you won't like to sabotage a company where you are eating and also co-owner.

6) The youthful energy, mental capacity and financial resources used in Militancy can take Nigeria to a new height if properly channeled to productive ventures.
I think an history of ARAMCO is Saudi Arabia will help a few misguided* people that keep saying our oyel* ....Nice explanation so far God bless you bro....

Alot of things are changing and right now the wise ones are purchasing insurance policies to take care of their risks in family, business, assets and lives.
yes know but the insurance industry still suffers due to lack of enforcement of government policies towards insurance like car insurance and others ...ever imagined all cars plying Lagos having genuine car insurance...do you know what that portends

Car Talk / Re: Weststar Announces The Return Of FIAT To Nigeria, Makers Of Ferrari And Maserati by sashash(m): 7:21am On May 16, 2017
AutoJoshNG:
Weststar Announces the Return of FIAT to Nigeria, Makers of Ferrari and Maserati – Also unveils one of its new models, The FIAT Tipo

It is with great excitement that Weststar Associates Limited, (Authorized General Distributors of Mercedes-Benz, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, & Ram in Nigeria) confirms the arrival of the much-anticipated Italian brand - FIAT in Nigeria. Plans are already in motion to officially launch the first model to return – the ‘FIAT Tipo’. This makes Weststar also the authorized distributor for FIAT and FIAT Professional automobiles in the country.

FIAT is majorly known as automakers of luxurious high performance sports cars such as Ferrari and Maserati. In October, 2014, Fiat and Chrysler Group of automobiles formed a merger to become FIAT Chrysler Automobiles. This new alliance paved way for access to newer technologies and advanced engineering solutions. In 2016, Ferrari was signed off as a separate entity in order for FCA to focus more on manufacturing city cars.

This same Italian heritage is seen in the FIAT Tipo, with its unique features such as versatility, large interior space and compact exterior dimensions. The name - Tipo is a celebrated designation that FIAT has used many times during it’s over one century of history. The Tipo is one of the models to carry the coveted name of which nearly two million were produced from 1988 to 1995 and which was first awarded "Car of the Year” in 1989.

“We are thrilled about this development as Nigerians can now enjoy real value for their money. The FIAT Tipo fits perfectly in its segment and will be officially presented before the month ends. The Tipo offers high appeal as it comes with a vast variety of standard options. Its Italian heritage promises comfort, quality and versatility. With the FIAT Tipo, you do not need much to get a lot. Thus, it serves as a wonderful option for Nigerians even as we have already put in place, an excellent maintenance culture offered by our aftersales team” – Stavros Diamantidis, General Manager, FCA group, Weststar Associates Limited.

The four-door sedan version of the FIAT Tipo is one of the first models which will be exclusively available at Weststar Associates Limited, Authorized General Distributors of Mercedes-Benz, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, FIAT and FIAT professional in Nigeria.

Culture / Re: Yoruba Revolutionary War Chronicles. By Samuel Johnson by sashash(m): 11:50am On Dec 16, 2016
God bless you for this.well said in order to understand the Yoruba mindset about politics then we should study politics of 1st and 2nd republic.GEJ won massively in 2011 because we felt he was a breath of fresh air well we all know wot wanted .we sud nt forget that PMB and even Ribadu of the ACN so called Yoruba candidate was dere den in 2011 yet GEJ won .
Padipadi:
GEJ personally insulted & disrespected me by removing fuel subsidy on the 1st of Jan 2012. He was insensitive there. GEJ failed me by not guaranteeing the promised power generation expectation of 10,000mw but left me with only 3,500mw to manage with my fellow Nigerians.
APC propaganda didn't tell me these facts. I don't support politicians based on he/she's my brother/family syndrome. I support who I morally think is ok!
I m not speaking for Yorubas but I share similar thoughts like them. Most Yorubas supported GEJ in 2011. So why are you or any pained easterner/south-south crying foul play. If only you blamed me or any Yorubaman that voted APC that they should v looked for alternatives...I ll beleive you are completely right.
We don't like OBJ blindly. OBJ didn't get much support when he was contesting with a fellow Yorubaman (Olu Falae) in 1999. In 2003, he made some improvements between 1999-2003. We beleive he could come back & continue to do well. OBJ is not a Yorubaman's favourite. We don't shield a man that have error. We try to check it.
Some of these elders appeared or if not compromised! Are these not the elders EFCC is dragging about that one of them collected N100m?
If we have a well meaning elder last year, he ll rather say we keep our vote or vote for a diff party rather than vote GEJ.

Myopic, unexperienced kids like yourself and that overgrown, greedy Arrow called Tinubu went with Buhari.

You only had two options, no more and you went with the worst option.

So, don't say we shouldn't bring GEJ into this issue.
There are three types of Yoruba voters/politicians.
1. Those who vote cause they reason well
2. Those who vote cause they were persuaded by propaganda
3. Those who vote cause they were given bags of rice or kegs/gallons of oil & ankara.

Out of the three, No 1 is the most populous. These were the people that supported GEJ in 2011. If it was the vote of the easterners/south-south alone that year GEJ ll not win. the southwest vote gave more to GEJ. The opposite happened in 2015 and you were crying foul play. Always saying Yorubas are responsible for your case. The same thing during the time of the civil war where Igbos till today accuse Awolowo of diff things. What of the majority Christian middle belt that went against the Igbos during the time of the civil war & again in 2015 election votes. If I continue, we ll completely derail the thread. Yorubas have their fault. We may be guilty of mis-calculations in 2015. But I ll rather note vote for anyone if GEJ was the only option last year. every region should charge their politicians to do good governance. By 2019, If APC/Buhari have not improved...I guarantee you that no well meaning Yoruba man ll vote them.

Who called Yorubas AFONJAS until 2014?

Nobody!

The AFONJA tag came in vogue after the SW allied with the North against Southern interests.

I don't reallly get moved by being called an Afonja. Afonja is only recognised in Ilorin. He's not a suitable role model so we don't get mad when he's abused or we are abused through him. I only laugh at the mysery of anyone referring to Yorubas as Afonjas or Igbos as IPods. It's a shame Seun & his mods only remember my own words as abusive or bullying on Nairaland (that's a story for another day).

You have a blind hatred for GEJ because neither Tinubu nor OBJ (your star leaders) are better than GEJ.

They have done everything they accuse GEJ of, so why the hypocrisy?

-Lord
I voted and campaigned for GEJ in 2011. How can you say I or other well meaning Yorubas hated him. We are aware ofthe North's manipulations. If only we can see a patriotic Igboman that beleives in one Nigeria, he or she ll be hot cake for Aso Rock in 2019.

My brother, he was initially with UPN, he wasn't popular so he was modest, the fact that he wasn't allowed to fly the flag of the Party made him leave, A yoruba man with UPN symbol won't go join the northerners immediately, those days people are way way tribalistic, yoruba for UPN, Hausa for NPN

My brother!! He actually wanted to be the Ogun governor and he went to Obafemi Awolowo but the man told him he was still too young and wealth doesn't mean you can be a good leader. How old are you? Am so certain you were probably still a kid when Abiola contested or you were plainly part of the stomach infrastructure scheme he built his fake ass popularity on.

Best we never had my black bumbum
