StarryV: Mama I'm here o. Seriously on low key mode. I'm yet to travel because of this my new position at work. Hopefully I'll travel at the end of this month. Went for my antenatal visit today and was asked to come next week for pelvic examination. Whatever that means, it sounds scary sha and I'm thinking of dodging it abeg what's that and how is it done? @ dodging it. Don't be scared, at this point nothing can be more painful than the birth itself and I doubt it'll even be painful cos they wouldn't tamper with your cervix. I've never had one done anyway and I believe at this point usually a scan should tell them what they need to know, but if your doctor says so, then go for it.. We all on low-key mode o, it's well. Keep us informed when u do go for it.❤️ |

okeysoninv: their tax is the least is it not?. how much is house rent ? £ 200- 300 outside London as a single person. your other bills can never reach £150, transportation is subsidized , you can't enter uk today and starts driving next day. public transport is subsidized.many Nigeria are making it over there , the hardworking ones. so forget story. Now I See your perspective you have absolutely No idea what you're talking about... That's why you're typing what you're typing. Nevermind. I leave you with this statement "Travel and see". |
Travel › Re: Why Do African Brothers Abroad Discourage Others From Moving Abroad Too? by Sassy256(f): 6:34pm On Jul 15, 2022 |
casualobserver: What exactly do you mean by encourage? Let me explain it to you as someone who has a British passport has live abroad for many years but returned home.
The truth is life over there is a sort of bondage for someone with a Nigerian mindset. You are constantly working to pay bills , no matter how much you earn your expenses rise such that you are a slave to your job, the system entraps you in ways I can’t describe here for sake of brevity, unless you are amongst the few who can establish a means of income in the multiples of hundreds of thousands be it dollars be it pounds. Otherwise yes you will eat well and enjoy certain basics that may not be available in Nigeria for most Nigerians but there are many negative intangibles especially for someone raised in Nigeria.
Unless you are a high paying job, $100-200k + life is not a bed of roses. Even at that level you are struggling but can afford things to mitigate the struggles like holidays back home or other destinations. In theory you will be better off than in Nigeria initially but life is such that once you overcome the basic sufferings back in Nigeria, the intangible negatives start to matter. I am back in Nigeria and I wouldn’t go back. I am lucky I can travel out when I am tired of Nigeria but I will never again live abroad….unless I am forced to. With all the problems of Nigeria, there is no place like home. There is a sense of freedom and self worth in Nigeria you have that you lose when you go abroad, that’s one of the intangibles I talk about. No matter what you will always be a nobody abroad….that’s another!!!
Would I encourage anyone to move abroad. It’s a hard question because you will pay a huge psychological price for moving abroad, one you will not understand until you get there and one I can never explain to you until you have experienced it. What I would say is, if you want to go abroad, have a mission and come back with if 5 years!!! I won’t encourage or discourage anyone!!! I wouldn’t actively encourage anyone because I don’t want to be the one responsible for selling you a dream that will not match your reality!!!! I wish I could like your post more than once or make everyone listen to/read this but sadly they will never understand until they come here and see the life for themselves. I personally made the decision that I won't live all my life in this UK, with tier2 visa I hope we get a British passport sooner than later, once I get that with my kids, we're homebound. The passport is just so we can travel as we like cos of the somewhat volatile nature of Nigeria otherwise, NO PLACE LIKE HOME. |

okeysoninv: change ur orientation, many are finding it easy. move out of London, look for a care work, you won't pay tax. tell me how you won't make it. Firstly, I'm not in London. Secondly, Who says care workers don't pay tax? You think it's only about tax? What about Ur bills, houserent, car insurance, fuel/diesel for car or transportation? TV licence and other smaller bills? You're definitely getting information from illegal immigrants or people that are squatting. Life out here is not rosy, you have to work for every pence, it definitely becomes easier after a while but not as many portray it from Nigeria. |

okeysoninv: they want to see it like they are finding it difficult but that's not reality over there. Nigerians are like people that don't want you to over shine them , i.e the reason of all the discouragement. My dear, a lot of people are finding it difficult over here o, I'm currently in UK so I know what I'm saying. But it's not all bad. |
Travel › Re: Why Do African Brothers Abroad Discourage Others From Moving Abroad Too? by Sassy256(f): 3:48pm On Jul 15, 2022 |
DannyFX2638: this is where the problem is . Most people refuse to come back not because of they don't want to , They are afraid of how the society will see them ..
Imagine telling your guys that you are going to Canada then after some months , You come empty handed .. haaa .. You reason am nahh..
Ordinary your village you day go , u go buy full bag.. Make them no go see you as failure , How much more Overseas? People don't understand this part. This is exactly the reason so many that have travelled can't think of coming back now. |
Travel › Re: Why Do African Brothers Abroad Discourage Others From Moving Abroad Too? by Sassy256(f): 3:45pm On Jul 15, 2022 |
okeysoninv: ask them to come back, they will abruptly refuse Even if they're finding it difficult there coming back most likely isn't an option because most of them sold all they had to go there so they have to endure at all cost, not because they're enjoying it too much. |

abike12: what is the basis of your belief that it is too early? have you been pregnant before or do you have a uterus? There's a pregnant woman living with you and telling you how she's feeling but you want strangers to validate her symptoms... Why is that? Mama abike12, please calm down this is not how to respond. That's a concerned husband talking and I see nothing wrong with his statements. He's not arguing with anybody so please don't take this personal. |

Pweetiebabe: Good day mamas, PLS how safe is Lonart or Coartem or Amatem in the 2nd trimester(23weeks). I have been down with body pain since weekend but Catarrh and Cough with headache and Cold come join(only in this my small body) .. I chatted with d Consultant on d Whatsapp group they open for us @ ANC(badagry GH). The Dr ask me to get either of those drugs with Piriton and Paracetamol. So I want to know how safe they are I have taken Lonart in previous pregnancy I have taken Amatel softgel this pregnancy. Usually artemeter & lumefantrine combination antimalaria tabs are safe in 2nd and 3rd trimesters. It's only avoided in first trimester. I have never been prescribed piriton for anything in pregnancy though so I don't know of that. You can still ask from a registered pharmacist when you go to buy it just to ease your fears. |
