First I will like to thank you for the nilesat frequency and other tips from you.
And for letting some us knowing the history behind satellite technology,of which great numbers of people in the world, one way or the other benefit from.Thanks to the minds that concieves the theory,thanks to the hands that put it into action and thank you obnelly for letting us know.

English author,Arthur C.Clarke,who stated in 1945 that the satellites could be used in communication,is regarded as the inventor of the telecommunications satellites today.In his writing he had also stated that the human being could benefit from the satellites as a means of communication once they were put into orbit.Subsequently another great contribution to this theory was made by an American scientist ,J.R Pierce Clarke. Also, Konstantin Tsiolkousy,
a Russian mathematician, had contributed a lot to this theory by finding out the necessary conditions enabling the rocket to get out of the earth’s gravitational area.

Robert H. Goldard,an American scientist,did the first scientific tests on satellites. The rockets failed to go further than he had intented.But he was the first scientist to use the main rocket fuel,a mixture of benzine and oxygen.The former Soviet Union has gone down in history,launching the first satellite SPUTNIK1.This time the first satellite with a living creature, SPUTNIK 2 was launced by the Russians on November ,10,1957.The U.S.A launched its first satellite called ”EXPLORER” four months after the Russians.But none of those three were telecommunications satellites.

In the end, the world’s first communications satellite, SCORE, was launced by the USA on December ,18,1958.
But unfortunately it was able to function in orbit only 12 days....

The era of Satellite communication,literally, started on July,10,1962,when TELSTAR1 was launched into orbit.The first tv broadcast , covering the Atlantic Region was made through TELSTAR 1..TELSTAR 1,launched by The American Telephone and Telegraph Company, was in the shape of a cylinder. Having failed to launch further than 10000 kms,then’s rockets were stationed into elliptic orbit,causing both the satellites to move too fast and the staff of the ground station to have difficulties in controling them.These problems needed being solved.The scientists ,finally, came to the conclusion that the best way to handle such problems was to launch the satellites into isochronal orbit...

On 19,August,1964,the USA overcame such problems by launching satellite ,SYNCOM3 into isochronical orbit.The first live tv program was transmitted by the satellite SYNCOM3. from 1964 Olympic games taking place in Japan.

Intelsat Contributing much to the history of telecommunications satellites,INTELSAT,with the participation of eleven countries, was founded in the capital Washington D.C in 1964.Today it is an organization of 143 countries including Turkey.

Eutelsat In 1977 another enormous innovation was made and with the participation of 17 European countries,Eutelsat,which has been dominating the whole Europe since then,was founded.Turkey is one of the members of this unique organization..

@okolie using your strong decoder to track other satellite network,is possible.to do that there are some steps you need to follow.
1Determine the network u want to hook up to.
2.Get the network transponder i.e the satellite and the tracking frequency.
3.Go to menu on ur strong decoder.
4.Go to installation press ok on your remote control,the write up'enter pin'will be displayed,enter zero four times i.e 0000.
5.Go to manual scan,select the right satellite and enter your tracking tp i.e frequency and symbol rate.
6.Your dish must be properly connected and mounted in the right position i.e if the network you want is at east your dish must face east also.
NOTE: Not all the time the gurus are online,so dont take the lack of response to your post as if ppl here dont want to help you.
I will like to add that whatever it is you are looking for might have already been discussed in other threads, so next time you are looking for help, take your time,search through the threads and discover the wonder in satrakand of nairaland,trust us it has help a lot of ppl even the gurus,yes even the gurus!

Well back to ur question,upgrdn decoder involves the followin step;
1. connect d 2 decoders using rs 232 cable.
2.Go to menu of the decoder.
3.Go to system setting on the display menu
4.Go data transfer
5.select copy firmware
Well not sure if the step re in order,all this I do without consulting my decoder(memory do fail)however u can rectify my mistake(if there's) during the course of ur upgrading.

Check your cable connections,I mean where your cable connect at the back of the decoder or where it connect to the LNBF.Check whether the negative and the positive are touching each other.Those hair-like wire and that single wire are not mean to touch each other.
If that is not the case,then take it to multichoice(dstv)office, they will find solution to whatever is the problem.

That means your patch is off,to switch on the patch u have to input the following four digits twice: 6969.
If this did not work,that means the patch u upgraded to did not support the options menu.So u upgrade/downgrade to your former patch or another patch that supports the options menu.
Try the solutions lets see what will happen.

@all, see how times changes everything,gone are the days free 2 air is the most discussed issue,then come dongle ,then c line,then ppl started deserting FTA.
There is time I think we will soon start producing dishes of all sizes,decoders(even now I still blieve we can,if we stick to FTA),I see wonderful things happening then,phenomenon like the 5m dish fabricated in Kano,then was later installed in warri,then d valuable lessons on how to construct dish by several generous gurus and other several phenomenon, right here in Nairaland!!! Those are are my most memorable days in this forum,if Fta will perish(I know its not possible.
I want all of us to know one thing,the developed nations will never want us to advance in technology,so dont be decieve by dongle,cline and and the nonsense DSTV.Dongle do nothing but kills innovations.

Copy d firmware of another strong decoder (same model) to ur decoder.Use rs232 cable its easier dat way.
