The Abia Police Command has confirmed the arrest by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), of four suspects in connection with the kidnapping of one Chekwas Daniel in Aba.

The suspects are Bright Chinonso, Eze Ernest, Chisom Godwin as well as Chinoyerem Chineye, who plotted and kidnapped the victim in his shop on Tuesday.

The state’s Police Commissioner, Janet Agbede confirmed the arrest in an interview with our correspondent in Umuahia on Friday.

“The investigations will be concluded today and the suspects will be charged to court. I think what they did was a deliberate action.

“The suspects saw the number of the man written on his shop door and then they called him while he was in church attending service.

“They told him they wanted to buy some 90 yards of a certain material which huge volume motivated the man to rush out before church service ended to attend to them.

“When he got to his shop, he did not see them so he called them back and they came and as he opened the shop, they grabbed him and put him in a vehicle.

“But as he was being moved into their vehicle, SARS men led by Johnbull Obioguru got tipped off and they chased them and arrested them at Ngwa road by Mosque street and rescued the victim,” she said.

PoliticsOrji Kalu Donates Solar Power Worth Over 20M Naira To Kuje Prison Community by SaviMedia(op): 10:53am On Jul 01, 2020
By Philip Odion

I was compelled to write about what Senator (Dr.) Orji Uzor Kalu did for Kuje Prison because I witnessed a bit of it. My cousin is currently in Kuje prison as an inmate. Also, my townsman is a prison officer in Kuje. Through the two, I was able to get the details of the event that I now share with you.

I had gone to Kuje to deliver food to my cousin. As I was being searched at their front desk area, preparatory to letting me into the complex, suddenly, Senator Kalu arrived. There were some heightened activities and movements signalling that an important government official had arrived. The warder in charge of the arrival hall quickly waved me to a corner and motioned for me to be quiet and to wait for the August guest to be received. The Officer in Charge of the Prison and other prison officers came out to receive the Senator. They all went into the office. Then I heard the warders saying among themselves that Senator Kalu had come to inspect the solar electric power he installed for the prison. This happened last weekend.

As I sat in the waiting area for my cousin to be called out, I saw the Senator, led by the Officer in Charge and followed by other officers, all going into the prison yard. When my cousin came out to meet me, I asked him what was going on. By then the Senator was already inside the yard and I could hear the loud shouts of excitement as the inmates and warders were jubilating and calling the Senator's name. My cousin explained to me why everybody was excited.

I learnt that since December last year when Senator Kalu arrived in the prison, he practically changed the lives of the inmates in every conceivable way. He paid the legal fees of scores of inmates. He helped many more to perfect the conditions of their bails and to regain their freedom. Every inmate with a problem only needed for the Senator to hear his problem and something would be done to help.

He fed inmates. He paid for medicine for those who were sick. Before Senator Kalu arrived in prison, the prison community had electricity between 7pm and 11pm each day. But right immediately after he arrived, he increased the time they had electricity. He paid for electricity from 3pm to 7pm and 11pm to 1am. It is important to note that the Senator had a private generator that supplied power 24/7 to his area. He just wanted to help the inmates and staff of the prison by more than doubling the duration for which they had electricity.

Even before he left the prison on 3rd June, 2020, Senator Kalu had initiated a solar power project for the prison, by way of a lasting solution to the electricity supply. It was initially considered an inmates-financed project. But the cost was a whooping 27 million naira. It was considered too exorbitant and was nearly abandoned. But the Senator surprised everybody. You would think that once he left the prison, he would forget the people in prison. But not Senator Orji Uzor Kalu. He came back and paid 21 million naira toward the solar project. Olisah Metuh, Jolly Nyame and a couple of other inmates paid the remaining 6 million naira.

From this project, Senator Kalu has demonstrated four distinct qualities. He is generous. He is a man of honor that will keep his word even when the circumstances change. He is a very generous person. He remains an exceedingly wealthy man irrespective of the massive disruptions his businesses suffered due to the fake conviction and imprisonment he endured for 6 months. Orji Uzor Kalu is a man who will go to any extent to help those in need.

As my townsman further confirmed, the staff of the prison are hearing that the Senator is contemplating some further measures that will dramatically transform and modernize the Nigerian justice system from top to bottom. He is planning a total reformation of the justice system in Nigeria and everybody will benefit from it.

To add, the Senator is a simple man. He doesn't seem to like a lot of ceremonies or attention. The prison had already enjoyed the solar power for over a week before he came to inspect it. And he came unannounced and with only one of his aides. His visit lasted less than 25 minutes and he was gone.

Now every custody in Kuje Prison has power, DSTV and the ability to pump water 24/7. (Yes, he paid for the DSTV for inmates and the prison clinic till the end of the year). The clinic, the church, the mosque and the library now all have electricity 24/7, thanks to Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.

As he was leaving the prison, I tried to get close to him to get his business card. No way: a mean-looking warder told me to sit down and finish with my cousin, as if he knew what was on my mind and was determined to frustrate it. Anyway, it was quite interesting to witness all that.

Politics9th House Of Representatives Unveils One Year Scorecard by SaviMedia(op): 8:49pm On Jun 11, 2020
As Nigeria set to celebrate June 12 Democracy day 2020, it's also a remarkable date for some of the elected political office holders and lawmakers across the country.

The lower chamber of the National Assembly, will be marking her one year since some of its members were elected into the house. The 9th House of Representatives led by the Speaker, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila has unveiled its scorecard through the spokesperson, Re. Benjamin Okezie Kalu.

The scorecard made available to ABACITYBLOG contain an up-to-date report on the activities of the house by the spokesperson; Legislative Agenda, Summary of Bill Progression, the house activities on COVID-19, Motions, etc.

Read below the full scorecard signed by the House spokesperson Hon. Benjamin Kalu, representing Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State.

Exactly a year ago, your elected representatives were sworn into the 9th House of Representatives. We were inaugurated at a time when the legislature was in needless deep-seated acrimony with the executive to the detriment of national growth. We also inherited a legislature that was unpopular, distrusted and antagonized by the public.

With a herculean task cut out for us, the House, under the leadership of Speaker, Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila resolved to do away with business-as-usual, to shake tables and bring about a House of reforms guided by the ethos of Nation Building: A Joint Task. We immediately set to work to return the polity to a system of checks and balances that thrived in an environment of mutual respect and harmony of government; and to also restore public trust in the legislature through transparency, openness and partnership with the public.

As we mark our first year in service, it is in the spirit of this transparency that we render a summarized report of our activities in the past year.

LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

On October 11, 2019, we adopted a legislative agenda wherein we committed to engender positive change in social justice; sustainable power; environment and climate change; economic growth, development and job creation; gender equity; education reform; anti-corruption; sustainable agricultural development; food security; security; welfare of IDPs; public health and national budget reform using all the legislative tools of intervention at our disposal.

Over 100 standing committees were constituted by the leadership of the House to facilitate these policy objectives, with care taken to ensure that all members and Chairpersons were chosen for their unique competencies.

SUMMARY OF BILL PROGRESSION

As at June 10, 2020, over 850 bills have been introduced to the House, and are presently at various stages of consideration as outlined below:
Bills introduced - 853
Bills awaiting second reading - 639
Bills referred to committees - 103
Bills before the committee of the whole - 65
Bills read for the third time - 41
Bills negatived - 1
Bills withdrawn - 2
Bills passed - 36

As the People’s Parliament, we have endeavoured to keep a finger on the pulse of the Nation, ensuring that the bills we pass provide real solutions to real issues. So far, we have passed various bills to end estimated electricity billing, guarantee interest free student loans for higher education, provide a better labour environment for Nigerian workers, strengthen agriculture and diversify the economy and provide a favourable business environment for MSMEs among other issues of the nation. Some of these bills include the Electric Power Sector Reform Act (Amendment) Bill; the Physically Challenged (Empowerment) Bill; National Orientation Agency Act (Amendment) Bill; Labour Act (Amendment) Bill; Finance Bill; Students Loan (Access to Higher Education) Bill; Federal Roads Bill, 2019; Public Procurement Act (Amendment) Bill; the Company and Allied Matters Bill; and the Emergency Economic Stimulus Bill, 2020.

Furthermore, in line with our promise for national budget reforms, the House took the pains to ensure that for the first time in over 20 years, the Appropriation Bill was passed in time to return the national budget to a January-December budget cycle. Correspondingly, in a swift reaction to ensure better budget funding and promote ease of business for MSMEs, we passed the Finance Bill in time to accompany the 2020 budget.

However, beyond our legislative duties, the House has visibly identified with the common Nigerian worker, intervening where necessary, in an effort to ensure a sustainable balance between the interests of employees and employers of labour.

For example;

On October 5, 2019, the House identifying with Nigerian teachers, called for better welfare packages for teachers.
On December 12, 2019, the House intervened in a strike action to ensure the implementation of the agreement between the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE), the Bureau of Public Enterprises and the Federal Ministry of Power.
On March 12, 2020, following interventions by the leadership of the House, the national leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) promised to review its ongoing two weeks warning strike action.
On March 17, 2020, the House again intervened to avert industrial action by medical doctors in the FCT in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, making sure to lend its voice to the calls for hazard allowance for medical personnel in the front lines of the fight against coronavirus.
Over the past year, and in true commitment to section 14 of the 1999 Constitution, the House has also intervened in matters concerning the safety and welfare of Nigerians;
On September 6, 2019 the House called for calm following xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa, while seeking compensation for Nigerians; and
On April 10, 2020 the House demanded an end to the inhuman treatment of Nigerians in China at a meeting between the leadership of the House and the Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Zhou Pinguan.

COVID-19

In a year marred by the deadly coronavirus pandemic, the House has substantially contributed to the fight against coronavirus. Individually, members of the House on March 31, 2020, donated two months of their salaries to the covid-19 fund, and continue to engage in extensive sensitization of their constituents on public health and safety protocols, while personally donating palliatives and PPEs for indigent people in their various constituencies across Nigeria.

Collectively, the House;

Prevailed on the Federal Government to evacuate, return and quarantine Nigerians stranded overseas due to Covid-19 travel restrictions;
Directed the Federal Ministry of Education to convert available Federal Government properties across the country for use as emergency care centres and isolation units by the Federal Ministry of Health and the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC);
Passed the first Emergency Economic Stimulus Bill in a bid to mitigate the adverse economic effects of the pandemic on Nigerians;
Prevailed on the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development to improve the implementation of the National Social Investment Programs (NSIPs), the National Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, and update the National Social Register (NSR), to ensure that all social programmes are more impactful, particularly as we struggle to recover from the economic impacts of Covid-19; and Sought a 2-month electricity tariff reprieve for Nigerians through the second Emergency Economic Stimulus Bill in order to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

MOTIONS

The House has considered a total of 394 motions out of which 393 resolutions were reached. Several of the motions considered by the House in this past year, were products of diligently conducted needs analysis to reflect the will of the people, exercise its oversight responsibilities as stipulated in Sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 Constitution and address front burner issues in the nation, a few of which are; Rising insecurity in several parts of Nigeria in 2019,
Financial management and improprieties of several ministries, departments and agencies of the executive arm,
The need to reactivate abandoned seaports across the country,
The extrabudgetary spending of NDDC and their failure to submit their 2019 budget estimates over 13 months past the due date,
The ecological challenges of several constituencies in Nigeria,
Issues arising from the Covid-19 pandemic including, the evacuation of Nigerians stranded overseas, the need for palliatives and stimulus packages, need for electricity tariff reprieve during the extended lockdown, the need for more isolation centres and increased public health awareness, and many more,
The casualization of labour by local and international companies,
Maltreatment and racial discrimination of Nigerians in China,
The need for better laws and stiffer penalties for rape and violence against women.

PETITIONS

The House has received a total of 151 petitions all of which were referred to the Committee on Public Petitions for consideration.

PUBLIC PARTNERSHIP AND TRANSPARENCY

A key part of our agenda is to reduce the opaqueness of the legislature to ensure that Nigerians are stakeholders and partners in progress. In furtherance of this, the House, through the Committee on Media and Public Affairs, on February 19, 2020, launched the Green Chamber Magazine, a publication which has allowed Nigerians first-hand access to the activities of the House.

CHALLENGES

The past year has not been without its fair share of challenges as we recall with sadness, the passing of our colleagues, Rep. Fagen Gawo and Rep. Jafaru Iliyasu Auna, of blessed memory.

We acknowledge the challenge of slow implementation of House resolutions by the executive and expect that the executive will do better in honouring the resolutions of the House as they reflect the voice of the entire Nigeria.

The House also contended with several instances of misinformation which attempted to pitch the public against the legislature. We acknowledge the need for constant public engagement to help in the demystification of the functions of the legislature and invariably cure the opaqueness around our activities. We acknowledge the efforts of the Committee on Media and Public Affairs in this regard.

We recall the public outcry regarding the Control of Infectious Diseases Bill, introduced to the House in response to the gaps observed in our Quarantine Act. Fortunately, this outcry, though premature, allowed us the opportunity to reassure Nigerians of our commitment to continuous public engagement in our activities as the bill is currently undergoing public hearing with the extensive participation of relevant stakeholders.

We further recall the public reaction against the House regarding the high cost of ₦37bn budgeted for the renovation of the National Assembly Complex. While this feedback was misdirected, as the project falls under the auspices of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), it is instructive to state that the cost has been reduced to ₦9bn in the revised 2020 budget, thanks to the engagement of the Nigerian public.

OUR REVIEWED LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

The world as we know it has changed. The covid-19 pandemic has challenged our previous assumptions and revealed the weaknesses in our systems, necessitating the urgency of a re-strategized approach to fulfilling the commitments of our erstwhile legislative agenda. As a result of this, the House under the wisdom and leadership of the Speaker, has today, launched a revised legislative agenda identifying 10 key policy areas; Healthcare Delivery; Education; Economy; Security; Agriculture & Food Security; Sustainable Power; Environment and Climate Change; Human Capital Development and Social Investment; Governance; and The Parliament.

With legislative interventions separated into immediate, intermediate, and long-term action, the new agenda represents our renewed contract with the Nigerian people. We hope that we can count on the support of Nigerians as we navigate the next three years of our assembly. As the people’s parliament, we will continue to seek out informed engagement and constructive partnership as we work to implement the policy objectives we have set out in the new legislative agenda.

PoliticsHouse Of Reps Set Records Straight Over Defamatory Statements By Dr. Ojougboh by SaviMedia(op): 2:35pm On May 26, 2020
The Federal House of Representatives has reacted over claims made by the Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Executive Director, Projects and member of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) on AriseTV.

During the interview, Dr. Ojougboh blamed the House on numerous issues under Buhari's administration, ranging from the delay on Budget passage, Budget padding, etc.

Reacting over the claims, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, the spokesperson of the 9th House of Reps in a statement, set the records straight. While putting up the facts, he refuted all the claims made by the NDDC Executive Director.

The statement titled; "RE: DEFAMATORY STATEMENTS BY DR. OJOUGBOH, NDDC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR", read below...

The attention of the House has been drawn to certain statements by Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Executive Director, Projects and member of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the Niger Delta Development Commission (“NDDC” or the “Commission”), in what can only be described as an unhinged television interview on Arise News.

The House of Representatives understands that the spurious and defamatory claims made in that interview by Dr. Ojougboh were engineered to cast aspersions on its integrity and credibility. Therefore, while we cannot speak to the activities of the previous assemblies, it has become imperative for the 9th and present House of Representatives to issue the following rebuttal.

BUDGET DELAY

The claims by Dr. Ojougboh that the House of Representatives delayed passage of the 2019 NDDC budget are simply untrue and indicate a concerning ineptitude, ignorance and/or deliberate mischief by the Executive Director to deceive Nigerians about the financial improprieties of the Commission. When in reality, it has been the House pushing the Commission to do the needful and render account to the Nigerian people.

Section 18(1) of the NDDC (Establishment) Act mandates the Commission to, not later than 30 September in each year, submit to the National Assembly, its budget estimates for the following year. The House recalls that for more than 13 months after the time required by law, the Commission deliberately failed to submit its 2019 budget to the National Assembly for approval, choosing instead to engage in illegal and unauthorized spending to the tune of billions of naira.

It took the intervention of the House, following a motion moved by Rep. Benjamin O. Kalu on November 26, 2019, to compel the Commission to present its 2019 budget. The House further recalls that on December 10, 2019, the date fixed for the budget defence, the Commission failed to appear with its 2018 budget performance report, a document critical to assessing its previous expenditures and approving its 2019 budget; as a result of which, the budget defence had to be stepped down.

The Commission was only able to return with their budget performance report on February 5th, 2020 following which the House passed the 2019 budget 3 weeks after (February 27th, 2020).

The House states that the negligence and/or deliberate mischief of the Commission has also frustrated all efforts by the National Assembly to expeditiously approve the Commission’s 2020 budget. We recall that on April 28 and May 12, 2020, the National Assembly sent joint reminders to the Commission requesting copies of the 2019 budget performance report to enable it consider the Commission’s 2020 budget.

Unfortunately, in a reply dated May 13, 2020, the Commission cited the COVID-19 pandemic as excuse for their failure to provide their 2019 performance report. This is curiously ironic considering that despite the pandemic, they have been able to access their offices to spend monies, handle sharing of palliatives, make payments in billions of Naira and undertake transfers, promotions and suspensions of public officers, etc. Therefore, till date, the Commission has refused to render an account of their 2019 budget expenditures to Nigerians.

BUDGET PADDING

Dr. Ojougboh’s claims that the House of Representatives “vandalized and raped” the 2019 budget by adding ₦85bn Naira are not only false, but paint a rather disturbing image of the Executive Director’s emotional state as well as his relationship with facts and reality.

Contrary to the allegations of padding, the House recalls instead, that it was forced to cut down the budget estimates from ₦409bn to ₦345bn when it was discovered that the Commission’s projected expenditures were unrealistic, having exceeded their revenue source by ₦63bn.

The House is also concerned by Dr. Ojougboh’s grave allegations attempting to indict President Muhammadu Buhari of influencing the 2019 NDDC budget by inserting the so called “President’s regional projects”. While we have a duty to remove any suspicious items identified in the budget, it must be stated that the House is not aware of any line items in the 2019 budget estimates bearing the name or indicating the personal interests of the President.

FORENSIC AUDIT

The insinuations by Dr. Ojougboh that the House of Representatives is against the ongoing forensic audit of the Commission are untrue and misleading. The House has always expressed its total support for the forensic audit ordered by the President.

This is further evidenced by the fact that it was the House at Committee level which added a provision for the forensic audit in the 2019 budget after discovering that the Commission’s original budget estimates failed to include a line for the forensic audit.

Echoing the sentiments of Nigerians, our only concern is as to the propriety of the appointment or supervision of the forensic auditors and also to ensure that any auditing process is done in accordance with the Constitution. The House insists that a supervision of the auditing process by the IMC or any other subjects of the audit, defeats the cardinal principle of natural justice, nemo judex in causa sua (no-one is judge in his own cause) and undermines the integrity of the investigation.

As the People’s parliament, the 9th House of Representatives remains committed to exposing corruption, inefficiency or waste in any aspect of the government. We state that our support for the forensic audit does not in any way silence or preclude our oversight mandate in Sections 88 and 89 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFRN) (as altered) as both arms of government must continue to work according to the principles of the doctrine of separation of power.

It is an exercise of the system of checks and balance and not a duplicity of effort. Therefore, the House will continue independent investigations in order to be equipped with information in anticipation of the outcome of the forensic audit.

The men of the Abia State Vigilante Service have arrested twenty four market women parked in a container truck, at the Ekwereazu boundary between Abia and Akwa Ibom states.

The women who came from Akwa Ibom state and were on their way to Aba, were arrested with the truck driver and two of his conductors for violating the border closure and lockdown order by the State Government.

HealthWoman Who Tested Negative For Coronavirus In Enugu Dies A Day After by SaviMedia(op): 7:29am On Mar 18, 2020
Woman who tested "Negative" for #Coronavirus in Enugu dies a day after; Family blames State govt.

The daughter Utchay @UcheNgwu7 writes:

"Dear RT. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi,

"I am writing on behalf of myself and family in regards to the 70 year old woman suspected of the Covid -19 in Enugu published on Saturday 14th March 2020.

"The patient who is my mother unfortunately passed away on Sunday 15th March 2020 having tested negative to the aforementioned virus. She returned to Nigeria on Wednesday 11th March, 2020 after 5 months trip to the UK to visit her children."

Above were the parts of the statement posted online by the family of the suspected Coronavirus patient in Enugu State who tested negative for the deadly virus.

It should be recalled that a certain woman, age, 70, causes stirs at the University Teaching Hospital Enugu, on Saturday, after she showed up at the hospital for check up, on sighting the woman who just came back from UK, the health workers scamper to safety following lack of safety gears in the hospital.

Reacting, the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC) weighed in and collected the sample blood of the woman who was isolated at ESUTH Colliery Parklane and the result came out negative.

However, the 70yrs old woman, (name withheld) died a day after the result came out negative.

The cause of her death according to the statement shared online by the family is due to the kind of treatment at the isolation center and the kind of environment she was kept during the few days she was isolated.

"My mother was isolated in a dilapidated environment that seems to have been left uninhabitable over a long period of time. The isolation centre in Enugu is an abandoned old section of the hospital, where the grass and debris were being cleared whilst my mother was there", says the statement.

The full statement reads below...

"The staffs at the hospital were unprofessional in the way they handled my mother. She was stigmatized and this made her feel worthless. My mother arrived at the hospital on Friday 13th March, 2020, blood samples were collected on Saturday 14th March, 2020 with results expected on Monday 16th March, 2020.

"As declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO) that this is a global pandemic, one would expect a faster testing time. My mother had to spend 3 days in a dire situation, without adequate health care and unsure of what is happening around her.

"If the result for Covid-19 was ascertained on time, my mother would still be here with us, as she would have been moved to a better equipped hospital with the right experts to deal with her underlying illnesses".

"My mother died due to the negligence and unpreparedness of the state in putting adequate facilities including staff training in place. The corona virus was detected in December 2019. It is absolutely disappointing that there is no appropriate isolation centre in Enugu State.

"After the death of my mother, finding a workable stretcher to move her body was impossible! You would expect any hospital to provide basic facilities such as a stretcher – my mother’s body was carried into the ambulance on a wretched tool.

"Considering that the Covid-19 result proved negative, we can conclude that my mother died due to the following reasons –

· The state of the said ‘isolation centre’ ( pictures attached).

· Wrong treatment

· Staff stigmatisation due to lack of training in dealing with such cases.

"Furthermore, shortly after the news of a suspected Covid-19 patient was published, the Enugu state government responded by releasing 20 Million Naira for the management of the state isolation centre.

"In my opinion, that is a little too late as strategies for dealing with the Corona Virus pandemic should have been put in place before now. It should not have taken my mother’s suspected case to prompt an action from the government".

The government should have anticipated this and appropriate measures and facilities put in place.

"As l write this, l am sure that no plans has been made for any future case of Covid-19 despite the promised allocated funds".

"In conclusion, l would like to reiterate that the environment of the isolation centre, staff behaviour and the unpreparedness of the Enugu state government resulted to my mother’s unexpected death".

"The objective of this letter is to make sure that no other person will have to go through what my mother went through. I am appealing to the governor of Enugu state to ensure that the funds allocated to the isolation centre is rightly used for the purpose for which it was meant.

"I urge the Enugu state government to ensure accountability to this respect.

Sincerely,

A very heartbroken daughter.

PoliticsThere's A Plot To Lure Sanusi Into Politics And Destroy Him - Ohanaeze Alleges by SaviMedia(op): 11:11pm On Mar 16, 2020
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has appealed to the dethroned Emir Of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to retire quietly into advisory services for the North to rebuild itself, through Radical reforms that  will end insurgency ravaging the North.

This is even as the group said there's a plot to lure him (Sanusi) into Politics and destroy him.

OYC, in a statement signed by its President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, advised Sanusi to resists any temptation of joining politics, as there's a grand plot with evil intent by Northern political Musketeers to drag him into politics and destroy the remaining part of him that survived the recent dethronement and Banishment as Former Emir of Kano.

"with no visible platform to succeed politically, his detractors had recruited vain Singers and political Jobbers to drag him (Sanusi) into politics for his final demolitions," parts of the statement reads.

According to OYC, Sanusi should Clear his Conscience by Openly or Privately Tender Unreserved apology to Former President Goodluck Jonathan for any Perceived political wrongdoing knowingly or Unknowingly in the Past, and make Peace with Igbos and  Yorubas.

The full statement reads below...

"Those Political Musketeers plotting for Sanusi's final destruction are secretly sharing on social media his past unpleasant remarks against Yorubas and Igbos and his non Challant attitude towards the Ese Rita Oruru illegal and Criminal abduction at the age of 13, from Yenagoa Bayelsa State, in 2015 by a Man named Yunusa Dahiru, and vividly Ese was taken to Kano, where she was abused, forcibly lslamized and married off without her Christian Parents Consent, the Conversation and marriage took place in the palace of the Emir Of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

"He should be bold to inform Arewa Youths that, " he had kissed Politics Goodbye" and as a respected voice in the North, he should  Join Mallam Balarabe Musa and El Rufai to declare for power shift to the old Eastern Region, as an opportunity to rewrite the wrongs of Yester-years, and as OYC warn that only Nigerian President of lgbo Stock will save Nigeria from disintegration.

"OYC insists that Igbos in Eastern Nigeria (Southeast and South South) are Set For the 2023 Presidency as its not yet time for open Campaign but definitely talks are ongoing with critical stakeholders across the board.

"Igbos are Set to Lobby the North, as OYC will meet Arewa Youths during the Easter Festive  season in Abakiliki, Arewa Youths should hold their Political leaders responsible  for their failures in Governance through rogue collaboration with Boko Haram to create insurgency as a  political bait to capture  political power in 2015, which accelerated Poverty in the North with over 13million Northern Children out of school, and insurgency ravaging the entire North

"OYC demand that Arewa Youths should approach the South to rescue the North from the recent state of squalor by supporting Igbos for 2023, to Cure North of insurgency and Poverty through visibly lgbo ingenuity and Indomitable Spirit that made South African President to engage one out of millions of brightest Minds of Igbos, Dr Ngozi Okonji Iweala to restore the dignity of their Country as Africa's power house

"this is a clear evidence that Igbos had the Enterprenual Vigour and resilient Spirit that will definitely change the misfortunes of Nigerians, as Nigeria will regain her full Capacity and Potentials as the Giant Of Africa with an Igbo man or woman as President Muhammadu Buhari's successor in 2023.

"OYC insists that the flimsy rethorics of Yerima Shettima, President of Arewa Youths, that One of igbo Son's non violent approach to Self determination, is a call for disintegration of Nigeria is laughable and a huge Joke, as he (Shettima) should help USA Government to capture his Northern brother,

"the leader of Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, who had killed over 33,000 Nigerians and makes the North the most inhabitable area in West Africa

"OYC assures the North that Nigerian President of igbo Stock 2023 had the strategy to end insurgency in the North, which is more important for them than hanging on to political power, definitely another Zik Of Africa will Emerge in 2023, as OYC diaspora had raised 11 million dollars to independently fund the Igbo presidency project.

Barcelona star, Lionel Messi, has spoken out for the first time since LaLiga was suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak.

Messi, who was on self-isolation took to his Instagram page, insisting that health must always come first.

The football world has suffered from the spread of the pandemic as La Liga joined Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Premier League in bringing competitive football to an immediate halt.

With the development, Barcelona have also cancelled all training activities for two weeks.

The Argentine has called on fans to stay safe and adhere to hygienic practices.

Reacting through his Instagram page, the Ballon d'Or winner wrote...

These are complicated days for everyone. We live worried about what is happening and we want to help putting ourselves in the place of those who are having the worst of it, either because it directly affected them or their family and friends, or because they are working on the front line to combat it in hospitals and health centers. Health. I want to send a lot of strength to all of them.

Health must always come first. It is an exceptional moment and you must follow the instructions of both health organizations and public authorities. Only in this way can we combat it effectively.

It is the time to be responsible and stay at home, it is also perfect to enjoy that time with yours that you can not always have. A hug and hopefully we can turn this situation around as soon as possible.

PoliticsPeter Obi Attacked By Internet Trolls Over Comment On Removal Of Emir Sanusi by SaviMedia(op): 2:52pm On Mar 12, 2020
Mr. Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor, yesterday, spoke against the removal of Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano.

According to Mr. Obi, Sanusi's removal has impacted negatively to Nigeria.

It should be recalled that on Monday, 9th March, 2020, The Kano State Executive Council under the Chairmanship of his Excellency, the Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, unanimously approved the immediate removal/dethronement of the Emir of Kano Emirate Muhammad Sanusi II.

Revealing why Sanusi was dethroned, The Kano government in a press statement signed by Secretary to the State Government, Usman Alhaji, said The dethroned Emir of Kano was in total disrespect to lawful instructions from the office of the state Governor and other lawful authorities, including his persistent refusal to attend official meetings and programmes organised by the Government without any lawful justification which amounts to total insubordination.

The press statement further noted that the removal of Sanusi was reached in order to safeguard the sanctity, culture, tradition, religion, and prestige of the Kano Emirate built over a thousand years.

However, reacting over the decision of the Kano State government, Mr. Obi, through his official twitter handle said "the Emir removal portrays clearly, the recklessness of our country today".

"The removal of Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir of Kano has impacted more negatively on #Nigeria than on the former Emir himself. His removal portrays clearly, the recklessness of our country today", Mr. Obi wrote on twitter.

"A few weeks ago, while speaking to investors in London, their primary concern about investing in #Nigeria was the unceasing lawlessness and insecurity. The recent reckless executive action in Kano further validates their fears.

"We must be better and act better if we seriously plan to play on the global stage", Obi added.

Meanwhile, the statement didn't go down well with his followers who think he should have let the decision of the Kano State government slide. According to the commentators, such development should only bother the Northern elites and not a Nigerian affairs.

Eze, replied; "Must you politicize everything. What concerns you with northern emirs? Leave them to settle their affairs, and focus your attention on your people. Sometimes I don't know what is wrong with my Igbo brothers. May God give us wisdom on how to play politics.

Demikhay, replied; "Mr. Obi so the removal of Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as CBN Governor by Jonathan didn't impact more negatively on #Nigeria than on the former Emir himself? His removal also portrays clearly, the recklessness of our country back then. It didn't start today.

Obong Ekpe, wrote; "Wetin concern you Bros.huh

Just de watch am like movie, its none of our problems. Sanusi didn't say a word when Buhari rigged himself back to power, so e no concern us. Buhari and Ganduje can do whatever they want with him.

Doris, replied; "Not just the removal , both the arrest, why hold him against his will, that he won't have any visitor, just like leaving in bondage, who made those kind of law in this our 21st century...there a no difference between this and slavery.

Admiral Speedy_5, wrote; "Somebody wants to invest in a factory in Nigeria, after ticking all necessary boxes he now not coming again because Sanusi lost his traditional Emir stool.

Just like the withdrawal of Harry and Megan from Royal duties would scare away investors in UK.

Isn't this hilarious?

Hassansarki wrote; "Please don't make it a PDP thing, stop politicizing it for us . We can fight our fight without political interference. We know how reckless the dollarated government of Gandollar is. You need not remind us on that . SLS removal is unacceptable.

Abdurasheed razzaq, said; "Your party sacked him as CBN governor without due process in 2014...was that not the height of recklessness
All these AUDIO investors you guys are always meeting..We no dey see their hand
Na kano dem wan invest or Anambra

Mazi Olayinka Danladi, wrote; "What it portrays is the dangerous power wielded by our politicians. This democracy and it's constitution that eroded our culture and traditions and puts our Kings at the mercy of thieves and liars is the craziest evil that ever befell the black African race.

...Accuses Igbo governors of aiding, abating Fulani terrorists across South-East

Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has said that that the five Governors of the South Eastern Nigeria are currently aiding and abating the killings of Innocent Igbo people they ought to protect.

Kanu in a release signed by him and made available to Aba City Blog on Wednesday lamented that the killings of over 20 persons that took place at at Ndegu Orie Umuoguduakpu community in Ohaukwu Local Govt Area of Ebonyi State were as a result of recklessness and nonchalant attitude of the Igbo Governors.

He said every Igbo son and daughter, father and mother who look up to governors across the east for protection can now see for themselves that Fulani caliphate are the ones in charge, stressing that the Governor's are mere stooges.

He debunked the statement that the killings were orchestrated by Benue people who were having boundary dispute with their Ebonyi neighbours, stressing that such claims were made to divert attention and draw enmity to the wrong direction.

According to Kanu, "On 10/03/2020 about 1430hrs at Ndegu Orie Umuoguduakpu community in Ohaukwu Local Govt Area of Ebonyi State armed Fulani terrorists camped at neighbouring Agila community Ado LGA of Benue state.

"Numbering about thirty five (35), some dressed in military uniform and supported by the Nigerian Army who were already present in Umuoguduakpu village harrassing people.

"These Fulani terrorists in collaboration with the Nigerian Army invaded the community and killed 20 persons. Those killed include Fidelia Ali 0meh 70yrs, Helen Ali(f) 55yrs, Ogayi Ali 45yrs, James Eze 58 yrs, Eke Ajah (f) 75yrs, Idenyi Agbo 45yrs, Elizabeth obele(f) 65yrs, Ogah Oge 35yrs, Ogba Eze(f)65 yrs.

"Also houses and farm produce storage facilities were burnt and destroyed during the attack. These Fulani terrorists and Nigerian soldiers beheaded their Biafran victims in their trademark Jihadi style.

"They also destroyed Bethel Methodist Church at Umuoguduakpu. BBC, CNN, NTA and Channels have maintained their criminal silence over this abominable atrocity. I am certain that when the time comes they will report IPOB response with glee.

"Those that look up to governors across the east for protection can now see for themselves that Fulani caliphate are the ones in charge."

OYC, in a statement signed by its President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, urged Igbo governors to, as matter of urgency declare the zone security outfit before Boko Haram terrorists masquerading as Herdsmen invade Southeast East in attempt to destroy the fragile peace we enjoy in the South.

"OYC demand immediate action to prevent the looming danger of attacking Igbos in our zone," parts of the statement reads.

"Southeast Governors Forum through the South East Security Committee should ensure the timely Commencement of Southeast Regional Security Outfit OGBUNIGWE before the end of first quarter of 2020.

"OYC Condemned vehemently the Provocative threat of Boko Haram leader to attack Ipob members on Protest, it's a confirmation that Sponsors and supporters of terrorism are envious of the strength and determination of Biafra agitators to draw World's attention on the perceived Persecutions and threats of life against the Christian community in Nigeria,

"OYC warn that any Provocative attack on the soil of igbo Nation might sink Nigeria as it will never go Unchallenged. This is a trap to provoke biafra agitators to pick up arms and abandon their non violent agitation, and We Urge them not to fall into these traps.

"OYC appeal to ipob, Massob and other biafra agitators to suspend any further actions or activities in terms of processions and protests until the South East Governors tighten up the Security of the South East, recall its 50 years now since after War, that there's no record of any Explosions in the Southeast, and it will never happen again,

"Boko Haram should Not dare Igbos as We are already vigilant and Ready to defend Our territories against any eventuality... they should concentrate their activities in the North.

"We call Federal Government to intensify their efforts to end insurgency in the North and co operate with US Government to arrest the leader of Boko Haram leader.

PoliticsIgbo Youths Will No Longer Be Sacrificed For The North - Ohanaeze Tells Army by SaviMedia(op): 11:17am On Feb 27, 2020
Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) has reacted over the recent pronouncement of Nigerian Army Recruitment exercise through, Brig Gen Emmanuel Akpan, Director of Army Recruitment Resettlement and Reserves of Nigerian Army," that Army is willing to recruit Nigerian Youths for the only purpose of defeating Boko Haram insurgents in the North East".

OYC in a statement signed by its President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, described the news as a welcome development, adding that such recruitment should be reserved only for Northern Youths as Igbo Youths are not comfortable with such Recruitment.

According to the group, there are suspicious and Queries about the rationale behind Such pronouncement for Such obnoxious recruitment in the South East, rather in the North or South West.

"Such recruitment is a death verdict and Penalty for any intending Youth waiting to be recruited solely for North East insurgents", parts of the statement reads.

"OYC insists that Operations Shege Ka Fassa, Civil JTF, repented Boko Haram insurgents, Meyatti Allah and Arewa Youths should be recruited massively and if the intention was targeted on Igbo youths, by choosing South East as the venue to Announce the recruitment exercise, Such agenda is Dead on Arrival, as Igbo Youths are only available for Agricultural and economic recruitment.

"OYC want Igbo Youths to be engaged in Community Policing or Regional arrangements, there are various recruitment exercise going on in various states in the South East regards to engaging Youths to tackle insecurity challenges in the South East.

"OYC will discourage any Igbo Youth ignorantly may be under pressure to go and sacrifice his or her life for the North East, South East lacks the manpower, for the recruitment exercise into Nigerian Army, because of other meaningful and significant programmes Youths are about to be engaged in the South East.

"Igbo Youths will never be used as sacrificial lamb for The North East insurgency,as Nigeria is descending into regional Security directions, every Geopolitical Zone should address their challenges without resorting to using Untrained Igbo Youths as sacrificial lamb.

"OYC call on leadership of Miyetti Allah, threating to establish their own Security Outfit across the Country,to Use the opportunity of Nigerian Army Recruitment exercise to relocate all their Herdsmen to North East and defeat Boko Haram with Nigerian Army, their Charity Should begin at Home not Abroad.

"OYC will dismantle any Miyetti Allah Security Outfit in Igbo land,as the South East Governors ban on Conveyance of Cattle by Foot is still effective and any herdsmen seen with any sophisticated weapon will be dealt... Ndigbo Agwo nno na'akirika.

PoliticsOhanaeze Ndigbo Apologises To IPOB, Rename South-east Security Outfit by SaviMedia(op): 7:33pm On Jan 22, 2020
Ohanaeze Ndigbo apologises to IPOB, rename South-East security outfit from “Operation Ogbunigwe” to “Otawike”

By Ngozi Onwukwe

Apex socio-cultural Igbo group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC), has called for Peace talk amongst all warring parties and stakeholders in Igbo land.

The group which tenders an apology to the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, noted that the peace talk is to Unite every stakeholder towards maximum Security and the protection of South East in the face of insecurity challenges emanating from the nefarious activities of Herdsmen, Armed Robbers, Kidnappers and other social vices.

OYC, in a statement signed by its President General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, frowned at the ongoing division amongst warring parties and stakeholders in the South East, adding that the group had witnessed continuous verbal disagreement between Southeast Governors, political leaders, and IPOB members, which had affected adversely the political fortunes and Unity, and portrayed Igbo Nation as not United in pursuit of our Collective interests.

However, to put an end to this, the group statement reads, thus…

“Based on the missing link that was created in the absence of Our Departed Supreme leaders, Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Dr Alex Ekwueme and HRM Eze Ezebuilo Ozobu, OYC calls for a truce amongst warring parties and stakeholders, as we had initiated appropriate steps and lasting measures to ensure that peace returns to Igbo land by openly tendering apology to IPOB for all the perceived injustices melted on them by other Stakeholders.

Also, our Apologies to the South East Governors for the abusive Words they had received in the course to reposition Igbos from other stakeholders, as OYC had the mandate of Some Eminent Igbo personalities and Igbo Youths to tender Unreserved Apologies to all Warring parties and stakeholders, and interface with all.

Considering with Substantial evidence that Igbo External Detractors had sponsored division amongst warring parties and are fueling crisis with the evil intent to continuous wreak havoc on the Unity of igbos having lost out in the scheme of things at the Executive,Legislative and Judicial arms of Government, OYC seek for Peace, harmony towards restoration of the resilient vigour of Igbo nation.
