On 11 September 2001 (known as 9/11 in America), Islamist extremists hijacked four planes that were flying above the US.

Two of them were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York.

Another was crashed into the Pentagon, the top military building in the capital city, Washington DC.

The fourth plane crashed into a field, 80 miles from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The attacks shocked the world. It was the biggest terrorist attack ever on America.

8.38am US time (1.38pm UK time)

US air traffic controllers confirmed a passenger plane, American Airlines Flight 11, had been hijacked.

8.45am US time (1.45pm UK time)

Flight 11 crashed into the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York.

9.03am US time (2.03pm UK time)

A second hijacked passenger plane, United Airlines Flight 175, crashed into the south tower of the World Trade Center.

9.30am US time (2.30pm UK time)

US President George Bush made a TV statement to people in the US, saying: "We have had a national tragedy.

Two aeroplanes have crashed into the World Trade Center in an apparent terrorist attack on our country."

A third hijacked plane, American Airlines Flight 77, crashed into the US military headquarters in Washington DC.

9.59am US time (2.59pm UK time)

The south tower of the World Trade Center collapsed to the ground in New York.

Many people were killed, including emergency workers and firefighters who went into the building to help people.

A fourth hijacked plane, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a field.

10.28am US time (3.28pm UK time)

The north tower of the World Trade Center collapsed to the ground as well. Many more people lost their lives.

RIP EMMANUEL BALOGUN

We live in a very trying and perilous times. A very dear friends undergraduate's 17yr old son got drowned at the Dome hotel pool in abuja last weekend. He was in the company of his friends. The friends didn't report to the hotel mgt what happened nor to the deceased's (Emmanuel Balogun) parents.
They went back to the school (Uni Abuja) hostel immediately after the incident. On Monday a young girl from uni abuja called the mother of the deceased that they did not see Emmanuel her son in class. She went further to tell the parents it's like something has happened to Emma and ended the call. The mother called back the line but it was switched off.

She notified her husband & they immediately placed a call to their sons number and it was off. They drove that Monday night to their sons hostel but met his absence. They now got information that a party was thrown for fresh year students over the weekend at the Dome hotel in town. They set forth for the hotel. The hotel mgt told them there was a case of drowning in their hotel over the when'd & directed them to the police. The police now led them to the mortuary, lo & behold it was their son. Yesterday morning, myself & the deceased uncle went to the police to see the CCTV footage of what transpired @ the hotel.

What I saw and later heard yesterday was unbelievable. From the CCTV, we noticed the deceased entered the pool with 3 of his friends and around 3.33am he started struggling in the pool. His friends where all watching him until he stopped struggling and drowned. They all left the pool immediately and one took his handset the other took his trouser and brought out the money inside the pocket and wore his shoes. They left the hotel around 4.18am according to the footage we saw.

The police went to the school & effected the arrest of the trio and mgt of the hotel. At the DIG's office yesterday afternoon, I heard something that has being giving me cold shivers all through yesterday and right now. One of the boys said that he wanted to raise an alarm to save the boy but the other two boys asked him not to.
That the deceased is always doing shakara because his father his rich, he went further to say that the other one said all the girls are always admiring the deceased so he should let him be joor. This are just mere 17/18yr old boys. Watching the CCTV footage where the friends were watching him drown and collectively decided,cos there was a time they grouped together to discuss for about a minute & from the confession of one of them is not only traumatic for me but also disheartening. They watched their "Friend" die out of jealousy & envy. According to them, it was the deceased that paid 2k each gate fee for them and also bought fish and juice which they all drank.

This are mere teenagers with that kind of heart. My people, be extra careful for people you call your friends. According to the DIG, A lot of people are being murdered daily cos of envy from friends. No doubt, There are good and wonderful friends but also, know ye, there are also friend-enemy everywhere. So be extra careful and prayerful cos the love of many has really waxed cold. The young man was buried today amid tears according to the wishes of his parents but his wicked friends & hotel mgt are still in police custody at the force headquarters as we speak.

This Monday, drivers who were commuting on the interstate highway BR-364 in Brazil, were in for a surprise.
Tires of the vehicles screeched as commuters came across something unexpected in the middle of the road a giant snake that stretched 9.8 feet long (around three meters).
The event took place near the northwestern city of Porto Velho and was filmed by people who stopped their cars and got out to help the snake cross the road safely.
Italo Nascimento Fernandes and his wife were some of the people who were commuting down the road this Monday.


“We decided to stop the car and get out.
There are no signs for the cars to wait so she can cross. I have seen snakes run over on the highway before, and think such thing is a crime,” Italo told the media.
He then also added that many people followed his example and got out of their cars too.

A Lagos Division of the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of former Super Eagles star, Austin Okocha, over tax evasion charges.
Mr Okocha – or Jay Jay Okocha as he is popularly known – has repeatedly failed to appear before the court to answer why he allegedly failed to pay his income taxes.
Adedayo Akintoye, the judge, issued the warrant for the arrest of the former Eagles captain on January 29 and thereafter adjourned until February 19.
However, on February 19, the prosecution had not effected the arrest forcing the judge to, again, adjourn till April 15 and ordering that the warrant be executed by then.


The football star is facing a three-count charge instituted by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice bordering on failure to furnish his income returns and nonpayment of tax.
The state filed the charges through its prosecutor, Jide Martins, in June 2017 and the suit began four months later.
The defendant, however, had failed to appear in court.
After several adjournments without Mr Okocha appearing despite having been served the court papers, Mr Martins prayed the court to issue a bench warrant for his arrest.
According to the prosecutor, Mr Okocha had failed to furnish his income returns for tax purposes to the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service.
Mr Martins also said that the defendant had failed to pay his income taxes.
He said the offences contravened Sections 56 (a) and (b) of the Lagos State Revenue Administration Law No. 8, 2006 and Section 94 (1) of the Personal Income Tax Act Cap P8, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
