It is not out-of-place to go with a little diary and a pen... but that doesnt mean you are going there to write down everything the interviewers says (no be lectures my brother).
Basically, jotting down stuffs might get you a bit distracted; and while some interviewers might have no qualms with it, others might consider it non-professional. You are very free to ask your interviewer and question before or during the interview including if you can jot down certain things .
In my first ever interview with GSK, I went with a little diary but I didn't make much use of it except to read out some questions I had about the job

Additional responsibilities include:
Learn TW’s proprietary contact management
system and perform tasks that will provide an
analysis of existing databases in order to identify
opportunities to maximize the participation and
sale of TWDS products and services. Conduct
research that ensures all contact information in
the contact management system is current and
on point to expand penetration in the market on
the sale and use of TWDS products and services.
Develop an understanding of our product portfolio to assist prospects and clients with questions/inquiries pertaining to participation and purchase decisions.
Correspond with both prospects and existing
clients regarding our compensation survey
products and online services. Increase
participation in our compensation surveys and
increase our renewal rates of existing
participants in our surveys. Promote additional
products to existing clients as warranted.

Support Client Care Associates and actively
participate in and contribute to ongoing projects
and enhancement initiatives within the group to
maintain and improve client satisfaction.

The Requirements:
*College student working toward four year
degree in sales/marketing or other business
related field
*Prior experience in sales, marketing, or call
center preferred
*A commitment to assisting customers
*Detail oriented, motivated, positive attitude
*Strong computer skills a must – Excel, Word, MS Outlook
*Excellent verbal and written communication skills
*Willing to work in a team environment
