Hello everyone!! This is not my personal experience but testimonies from friends who had their babies in Canada recently. Please, avoid agents online selling birthing packages.

Everyone I know who used them had a horrible and traumatic experience with their Nigerian hosts in Canada. Brampton, Ontario, to be specific. After paying thousands of Canadian dollars for; omugo, nanny, accommodation and transport, the services were none existent, completely different from what was advertised and followed by abuse and humiliation. Please, try to make your own arrangements.

Apartments can be booked via airbnb websites. You can contact your preferred doctors once you arrive Canada and pay directly to the Doctor's office. After which the doctor will register you at the hospital and you pay hospital fees directly to the hospital.

After birth the nurses will give you documents detailing how to apply for birth certificate and social security number. Once you apply, you will receive it in the mail in a few days/weeks then you can proceed to apply for your child's Canadian passport. When coming back to Nigeria, apply for visa on arrival for your child via Nigerian immigration website.
Avoid birthing agents o!!!

CeeCeeWigs:
What many people don’t know about the Canadian system is that as soon as your child is born you can automatically give consent for the Vital Statistics agency to share your information with the Canadian Revenue Agency in order to apply for the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) where you get paid between 500 to 600 CAD for each child depending on their age.
And if your child has any disabilities you can get additional support with the Child Disability Benefit. These are things our government should and can take of but we are where we are.
For those considering Canada, this is one of the many advantages you enjoy
I have heard of this but I believe it only applies to children whose parents work and pay taxes in Canada.

Good evening everyone. Please can you advice on the preferred airline to use from Nigeria to Toronto while pregnant? Someone suggested Lufthansa. However, I heard a transit visa is required. Is this true? Has anyone here experienced Ethiopian airline? Please share your experience.

Good evening, everyone. I have been following this thread for over a year and I have gained a lot of knowledge from you all. Thank you very much and God bless!! By the special grace of the Almighty, everyones visa journey would end in praise, Amen!!

Here is my time line;
application date: 2nd Oct 2021
biometrics done: 5th oct 2021
biometrics updated on portal: 4th Feb 2022
BVL dropped: 18th May 2023
visa number & expiry date: 20th May 2023
PPR: not yet received
**eligibility (completed) & background check (in progress).**

However, my concern is I applied with my husband but there has been no update on his application. His eligibility has not even started. We applied to travel for vacation as a family and all our kids are American citizens so there was no need to apply for them. please has anyone experienced this and what steps did you take to rectify it?

Hello everyone, I have been a silent reader. My husband and I submitted our visa application on Nov 16 in Abuja and still no news. I see many people who applied in Dec have received their passports. Please is there anyone here who applied in Nov still waiting for a response??
TravelRe: Canada Visit/tourist Visa Discussion. by Scentiments: 7:13pm On Jan 07, 2022
Hello everyone, I have been a silent reader. My husband and I applied/biometrics for our TRV on Oct 2nd 2021 but still no response. However, I have noticed most people who applied through the new portal received response quick.
Can we also reapply through the new portal or is it only meant for applicants who have relatives currently living in Canada??
Please your response will be highly appreciated
