Is Nairaland guilty of plagiarismas they also lift wholesale pictures etc like Linda Ikeji? NO! look at what I gleaned from the Wikipedia Plagiarism page Factors that justify reuse[edit] Pamela Samuelson, in 1994, identified several factors she says excuse reuse of one's previously published work, that make it not self-plagiarism.[31] She relates each of these factors specifically to the ethical issue of self-plagiarism, as distinct from the legal issue of fair use of copyright, which she deals with separately. Among other factors that may excuse reuse of previously published material Samuelson lists the following: The previous work must be restated to lay the groundwork for a new contribution in the second work. Portions of the previous work must be repeated to deal with new evidence or arguments. The audience for each work is so different that publishing the same work in different places is necessary to get the message out. The author thinks they said it so well the first time that it makes no sense to say it differently a second time. Samuelson states she has relied on the "different audience" rationale when attempting to bridge interdisciplinary communities. She refers to writing for different legal and technical communities, saying: "there are often paragraphs or sequences of paragraphs that can be bodily lifted from one article to the other. And, in truth, I lift them." She refers to her own practice of converting "a technical article into a law review article with relatively few changes—adding footnotes and one substantive section" for a different audience.[31] Samuelson describes misrepresentation as the basis of self-plagiarism.[31] She also states "Although it seems not to have been raised in any of the self-plagiarism cases, copyrights law's fair use defense would likely provide a shield against many potential publisher claims of copyright infringement against authors who reused portions of their previous works."[31] Now let me ask if not for Nairaland and Linda Ikeji do you think its everything TMZ, Media Take Out, TIME, Forbes etc post that the average Nigerian will see. Obviously not, you need platforms like this in order to help get the message out...the doctrine of Fair Use protects Linda Ikeji... I wish she would get a solid copyright lawyer |

arsetalks:What does plagiarism and picture have to do with each other? U need dictionary? |
onatisi:Pls go and Google the term cult following. I was at one of Nigeria's top tier banks in December 2012. They hosted Linda Ikeji on one of their floors, e remain small the CEO for ask for her autograph. Linda has become too big to fail o bruh All the controversy plays in her favour. She is a gossip rag. |
onatisi:bossip.com does the same thing Linda does and is an American country. Why hasn't Google yanked then off. We blacks are the authors of our own undoing. Because she brought. Range to show una Abi. Chei. The hate and thirst in Nigeria is real. After I marry shortly I'm moving out of country for at least two years so some envy will die down. |
priscaoge:I don't blame you. I won't even say anything. May God provide you that thing you seek which will bring fulfilment to your life...But you have better chances in romance section... |
arsetalks:Give me three instances of her plagiarism. If not shut up |
capricun:Can you slap your father? |
Techies won't get it. Business development ppl will. And there is a culture of impunity at Google exposed by whistleblowers. They DONT like to paY publishers. Why didn't Seun stay with adsense? |
For all the people that think Google did not have any malicious reason for killing Linda ikeji pls guess again. It's not copyright like they say on the surface. Linda ikeji is the biggest competitor to Google Nigeria adaense business. Three things you have to understand, 1. Google Nigeria is not the same company as Google Inc. The former makes its profits in Nigeria where the online ad business is not as robust as it's intl counterpart. 2. Linda Ikeji makes millions of dollars directly from advertisers. This is money she takes out of Google's mouth. Whilst she still runs theirbadsense platform on her mobile and desktop sites making tens and tens of thousands of dollars routinely. 3. That is a threat to Google Nigeria. A few months ago, a Google ad sense worker turned whistleblower explained how Google has a policy of looking for ways to disconnect successful publishers from their ad sense revenue in order to drive the brands profit. That story was on front page then, if you need a link, ask me and I will provide. So Google copyright argument is just their official line. Have you ever stopped to think why Nairaland does not run Google adsense? As for the haters. Yes we all know Nigerians have jealousy and envy more than business acumen. I'm in the business. Linda is my competitor. My site makes 8 figures a year but I don't touch Google. Bastardos dealt with me before. Linda's biggest mistake was not exclusively going to Nigerian brands direct and being on . FOr you haters, I feel sorry for you because by the time she starts driving a Bentley you guys will choke on your hate. Seun, mods pls front page Abeg. Wanted to say this on my other three yesterday But Phcn struck and I gave up. People need to know how Google ruins publishing business out of greed and corporate impunity and intolerance. PLS. |
iceberylin:and he is labelled an slowpoke instead of a friggin hero u see this life |

Google and a consortium of interests are trying to kill Linda Ikeji website Google is killing it for economic reasons...Google does not like paying publishers money... LindaIkeji was worth more than a million a day in Google payouts, so economically Google is inclined to cut off the gravy train All Google needed was collaborators. Cue the dude with a hard on for Linda Ikeji... The babe needs to repent and give her life to Christ because she has so many BIG haters...GOOGLE is not a small fry I shiver as I type this! Because of the wrath of Google Well the babe has supposedly opened a new site lindaikeji.mobi...it lacks a lot of its old functionality at the moment, but at least there is presence and she reacted quickly.... Personally I think Linda will march on...most of her advertisers are FMCG companies and they dont really need to worry about her as a reputational risk... Her and Tiwa sha! |

Linda always credits the source. That is not plagiarism. Next thing they will say nairaland users are plagiarizing too. Rubbish. Haters should go and find work. |
Is this true? |
talktimi:This is getting childish. I admit I fuelled the flames a bit. But fact remains she said atm is nasty but didn't say the a part of atm is anything to worry about. She also seems to visit sex forums a little too much for comfort but as an adult that's her perogative. However she doesn't bloody need to generalize about how American women are cheap sexually. My sister is American. I'm allowed to take offense but not because my sis is American but because I hate stupid generalizations by people who should know better. |
valmunich:The feminists won't respond. Too busy looking for man to marry. I'm dead serious |
talktimi:I understood 100%. She does atm in her personal life |
Are there Nigerian feminists? Because I know many Nigerian women hungry for marriage. Is it possible to be a feminist and desire marriage at the same time? Should men propose to feminists or should it be vice versa? Women are confused. I don't know if E! Or chimamanda is to blame.... ![]() |
Women are getting married for document so they can have some property or benefit in case the man strays.... Lol!!!! |
talktimi:Ok what did she mean pls |
LaBellaMafiaZA:U r d one that mentioned ATM and u certainly were not referring to automated teller machines |
Op yeah personally I seen men in Nigeria that import brazillian, American, Latina and other kinds of exotic women to Nigeria to bang. Do Most of the men believe that these women can offer a sexual experience their Nigerian counterparts cannot? Do they find them more attractive? I don't know what it is but there is a marked difference between an Atlanta strip club and a Lagos one. |
LaBellaMafiaZA:Ok so an.al is cool but just don't put it in your mouth afterwards. Making perfect sense. Somebody needs to give your daddy a medal. Mschew |
jmoore:U ain't never lie |
It's d single unfortunate ones that have a problem |
Hausa fulani on weed |
