Since then, she used every opportunity to enrich herself. Every day, she was the first to arrive at work, and the last one to leave. She made every second count, spending her time learning the ropes. Her efforts soon paid off; she was made a sales representative, and quickly progressed to being the regional general manager of this multinational company in China. Wu did not possess strong academic qualifications, and was revered as the ‘Queen of Part-timers’. Subsequently, she assumed the position of GM of IBM China. The President, Abeokuta Customary Court Grade I, sitting in Ake, Ogun State, Mrs. Christianah Olaleye, said her court has dissolved 266 marriages in the last 12 months.



Besides, she said the court also reconciled 74 couples within the same period.



Olaleye, who said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abeokuta, condemned the high rate of divorce in the country, describing it as worrisome and disturbing.



She blamed the high rate of divorce on intolerance and immorality.



The court president accused some parents and guardians of shirking their responsibility of bringing up their children properly, noting that improper upbringing was one of the causes of the high divorce rate.



Olaleye said, “To some extent, I think some parents are to be blamed for not giving proper guidance to their children.Today, most children lack tolerance; this makes their marriages to crumble.



“I have had some turbulent times in my 48-year-old marriage too, but it is tolerance and the future of my children that have made me to remain in it.”



She, therefore, counselled prospective couples to pray fervently before getting married.



“Prayers play a major role in marriage; couples must not put God aside in whatever they do. It’s very important to ask God for guidance,” she advised.



Olaleye said her court only dissolved marriages when all possible means of reconciliation had been exhausted, but added that the court was interested in the welfare of children involved in such cases at all times.



She said, “When children are involved in a marriage, then it becomes very necessary to do everything possible to save such a marriage.



“In case we cannot save the marriage, then the custody of such children and their welfare become our areas of interest. We can’t force couples on each other, but we have to really try our best before we dissolve any marriage.”



She also said that some of those seeking marriage dissolution were often motivated either by other men or women whom they wanted to marry.



Olaleye said, “Most couples seek divorce because they have found other men or women, and there is little or nothing the court can do because their minds are already made up.



“Most of them don’t think about the children’s future at all. It’s indeed a worrisome situation.”

My walk with God has been topsy-turvy. I have fallen many times but God did not forsake me. I got born again while I was in JS 2, backslided in JS 3 but God brought me back in higher school after like 7 years. To summarize all, like Peter, though I fall I never fail following my Lord- Jesus Christ. I thank him daily for the redemption and forgiveness of my sins (they were too heavy).

You must learn how to use empirical evidences in order to come to a conclusion. My statement of second class was made when compared to local accountancy bodies not that the certification is a second class (please read the spirit of what I am writing). I myself would not have sat down for a second class certification because I strive for the best.

My question are:

1. Which certificate is the most preferred (which commensurate with higher pay in UK)?- please use UK salary checker

2. How many years of working experience would you have had before you can be admitted to ICAEW?

3. How many accountancy bodies in the leading economy has relationship with ACCA ( i am not talking of ANAN equivalent)?

4. Which one is harder between ICAEW & ACCA?

5.If you have the opportunity to write ACCA & ICAEW, which one would you have written?

I asked the question so that you can see the shortcomings of ACCA and people should not just take it hook-line and sinker.

I am writing ACCA because I want to migrate and at least to have an Internationally recognized accounting certificate and of International Financial Reporting. However, I was shocked to know that the leading bodies in Australia, Canada and even South Africa does not just admit you like that (the way ICAN just admit ACCA) without writing exams.

As you said, I am preparing well o as I am already reading for June diet and I have Corporate Finance & Valuation by Bob Ryan (P4) for my P4 (just been sarcastic).

If you can answer my questions favourably, I will swallow my pride and follow you.

Please stop misleading people. Certified Financial Analyst is a certification for those with apt for Finance Analysis and this include derivatives, financing, investment management while ICAN or ACCA is for Accountants- those in preparing, presenting, and auditing of financial statements.

CFA is not the peak- it is just a branch on its own as ACCA or ICAN is a branch on its own.

CFA certification does not make you an Auditor or Accountant, it only makes you Head of Finance which has to do with treasury function, fund management and investment management

I will like to tell you that none is better. Each is just good.

I am an ICAN member and also writing ACCA and I will like to base my conclusion on this premise.

On ACCA- ACCA is a second class certification when compared to ICAEW & ACA in England & Wales, and in International level, ACCA is not recognized for membership by most of the leading economy withou firstly doing exams and these include USA, Canada, Australia etc. The reason is that ACCA is not really a local body but international accounting body.
However, with ACCA you are exposed to new methodologies because of its internationalization which has to do with International Financial Reporting Standards, Business Ethics etc

On ICAN- this is the most revered accounting institute in Africa. However, the problem that ICAN has cannot be isolated from Nigeria. It is based on the fact that if the macro is problematic, the component micros will be. I used 2 years to finish ICAN (and inducted in 2007) and it helped me to quickly get on with my ACCA (I have 2 papers to completion and I never attended ACCA lectures in Nigeria but using my ICAN notebook along)- there was nothing new in ACCA that I did not learn in ICAN-be it derivatives, international & local financial reporting, business valuation, Relational Database Management System. If Nigeria turns good today, there is now way for ACCA oo because all over the world, the most paid are those with locally recognized authority.

However, as of today, I will recommend that you should write ACCA so that you can use back door to join ICAN, but if you don't have money to pursue it, do ICAN- there is no discrimination when looking for qualified accountant in Nigeria

Whether na ACCA or ICAN just ensure that you are sound and can make money

Is this how a degree holder (I assumed) should respond to a simple question? I am proud to be an HND holder (mind you I am also a Chartered Accountant) and I will aspire to the top of my academic aspiration but that is not the issue. The issue is what was put in the Newspaper advertising the vacancy is not what is on the website-mind you HND is part of the requirement.
