Religion / Re: For Catholics: Who Is Your Favorite Saint? by SeaGoddes(f): 9:19pm On Dec 20, 2008
shiju:

My favorite saints are St Theresa of the Child Jesus, St Rita of Cascia, St Anthony of Padua.

All my life, my Mum always reminds on us to call on St Anthony of Padua when looking for lost items, but one incident that would stay in my memory forever was this particular time when my sister lost an unscratched N1,500 recharge card.

This happened in the early era when GSM lines were newly rolled out and very few people had the lines then, so in my house, it was only my parents that had GSM lines.
Momsie sent my sister to buy MTN recharge(that was only when N1,500 recharge cards were the only denomination available). My sister had to walk quite a distance to get this and by the time she got home she couldn't find it in her jeans pocket.

Momsie was so mad and after raking about her carelessness, advised her to pray to St Anthony to intercede and find it for her. My sista prayed about it and we all went to bed.

The following morning, my brother went out to clean Popsie's car as usual and just decided to check the mailbox in front of the house. U guys won't believe this, but there was an MTN N1,500 unscratched recharge card in it. shocked.

This was strange, because we hardly check the mailbox in front of the house for any mails since Momsie insists we route all our mails through the family P.O.Box for security reasons. Why my brother decidd to check the mailbox that morning, we would never know.

Till date we still wonder about it, but we just knew it was God through the intercession of St Anthony of Padua. wink

yes he does work wonders, and i can testfiy to his works wink love him smiley

Politics / Re: The Problem With Nigeria by SeaGoddes(f): 4:15am On Dec 20, 2008
i think the problem with Nigeria first is bad leadership. the leaders are ineffective and they are very corrupted starting with the president
second problem is greediness. these leaders who are purposed to be serving the people are there serving and saving for their big stomach and great gran grand children they wouldn't even get to see.  when a country rich in oil that the world eyes shouldn't they invest in it and use the money at least to better their Infrastructures? but instead they are there feeding their greediness. our health care system is a mess, and you can even tell when the president leaves the country just to get a checkup in other country now what message does that send? no body expects nigeria being a third country to just boom like the developed ones but at least we have resources to at least better the well being of our folks especially with resources such oil and other naturally resources

I love St. Augustine - for his teachings; St. Charles Lwanga - his unwavering faith even in the face of death.
