Congratulations to Khosi. You can whinge and bitch and moan about her all you want, but you can't deny the fact that she played the game better than all your faves. In its' purest form, Big Brother is a game of survival, not morals or sentiments.

As for the BBTitans experiment, to be very honest, the only thing it accomplished this year was produce a better and more catchy theme song than BBN. That being said, there's a lot of room for improvement. Instead of being BBN or BBMzansi Lite, this new series could use a little flavor to really set it apart from both BBN and BBMzansi.

Off the top of my head, some of my more rough suggestions include releasing a new BBTitans season every 2-3 years as opposed to annually. My logic is that it may give the show a big event kind of feel -- sort of like the World Cup. [Another interesting idea that could go hand in hand with this arrangement might be to revamp BBTitans such that it would serve as a kind of BBAfrica All-Stars. What I mean is, instead of casting brand new housemates, maybe bring back old housemates from previous seasons of BBN and BBMzansi including those who were evicted much earlier in the game, those who were disqualified (Yes. Tacha, Beauty etc. should be eligible), and those who made it quite far in the game but didn't make it to the finals or didn't win.]

If bringing back old housemates doesn't seem feasible and/or they insist on casting new housemates, the organizers need to be more radical with their housemate selection. I've talked about this here before. The main objective of the Big Brother experiment is to observe the outcome of placing housemates from different backgrounds, often with radically varying personalities, philosophies, habits, eccentricities, behaviors, perspectives, ideologies, etc in an enclosed area for a loooooong period of time. The more different the housemates are in terms of personalities, the more tendency there is for drama to ensue in the house, which equals premium entertainment for us (the viewers). The huge success and popularity of the UK version of the series, especially from the early 2010s, derived from this simple formula.

We need weird and unique housemates (or as Geezeem would call them, "X-factor housemates"wink. The types you would find difficult to encounter in a day-to-day setting. I'm sick and tired of listening to people hype bland, boring and predictable "ships". We need varied content on this show. Perhaps enlist the help of a professional behavioral psychologist, or maybe even BBUK or BBAUS producers, to facilitate the housemate selection.

Another idea is to extend the number of days? Perhaps go back to using 91 days? 105 even? It's just a thought tho'.

Also, we need better twists, tricks and turns to be implemented. I'm sick of the predictable fake eviction twists or new housemates popping in halfway into the show with no meaningful purpose or mission. The organizers need to watch BB seasons from USA, Canada, UK, australia or even India. Some of the twists I've seen from a few seasons of those shows are just downright genius and creative, and designed to keep the show interesting and full of suspense.

Another good idea would be to just bring back Big Brother Africa. Seriously. Like, just bring it back.

They should bring our show back!

The BBUK season I remember had a blind housemate and a fat African woman. Was it interesting?

Three months is the best time for the show. If anything, I prefer two months and three weeks. The seventy-seven days weren’t too short or long. A hundred and three days became a chore to both viewers and contestants.

fitzmayowa:

BBUS is one of the best shows 24 seasons and still going, I think they should adopt the format here leave the viewers out it let the HMs scheme their way to the prize money.....

As much as I really really detest the public voting system, I actually wouldn't want BBN to abandon it for the BBUS system. I LOVE BBUS' chess-like gameplay with all the strategizing and the alliances and the action packed HOH and veto competitions and would have loved to see that sort of gameplay in a Nigerian setting, but I'm afraid it wouldn't be received well by the Nigerian viewing public. We've grown accustomed to audience participation in Big Brother via voting. We've been doing it for years. There would be serious backlash if such happened.

The recent BB australia season is proof if this. They switched from audience voting to housemate voting and it became the most controversial season in the history of the country's BB series. The reception in Nigeria might be much worse.

Like they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. As bland as BBN is, people still enjoy it. The producers have no legitimate reason to flip the gameplay style over on its head. The only legitimate concern facing the series now is the possible BBN fatigue growing gradually in the country, especially in the aftermath of the 2023 Presidential, Gubernatorial and State of Assembly Elections.

All of that being said, I'd like to see a new Nigerian reality TV show separate from Big Brother that will implement the BBUS gameplay. I'd like to see the dynamics and how Nigerian contestants will handle all the pressure, high stake competitions, alliances, betrayals, bullying, conspiracy etc. It would be an interesting watch for sure.

BBUK is light years ahead of BBN in terms of the HM selection and the kind of content

Damn straight.

however, BBN there are alot of restriction because of the environment, we the viewer even miss alot of things not shown because of the environment, our own brand of reality TV is not "realitying" because of the environment......

Exactly. Nigerian reality TV is too safe even by reality TV standards. It isnt necessarily a bad thing though, but people like me prefer raw and hardcore reality TV.

Globally it is one of the biggest.

Not even close, bud.

When I say successful, I'm talking numbers and following. Contestants on the challenge were amazed with Tacha's following and how big BBN is.

That's not a very solid metric, assuming the "numbers and following" you are citing here relates to social media. If you consider the entertainment landscape in Nigeria and compare it to other countries, it's kind of a stretch to assert BBNaija as a global success on the bases of online numbers. In Nigeria, and probably the whole of Africa, Big Brother is hands down the biggest series in all of reality television. In the western world, Big Brother is just a run of the mill and not as popular as their rival shows. BBUK and BBUS peaked in the late 2000s and early 2010s. By then, BBNaija wasn't even in the picture. BBN took off in 2017 and by then the UK and USA versions of show were being worn down with dwindling ratings and followership. Not to mention the plethora of reality shows in the West that are even more popular than BB (Kardashians, Floribama Shore, Love Island, Challenge etc.).

In Africa, BB is our bread and butter. That's why it's so popular here. But in terms of success, BBNaija as a show (I'm not talking of the individual housemates) is yet to attain the global heights and recognition of BB in the United States, Canada, Britain, India, Phillipines, australia, Israel, Portugal, Germany etc.

As for content, you should realize that the environment matters. Nigerians are not into the scheming and mind games a few of you clamour for. You people don't even follow BBcan or BBus, where you'd see the content you clamour for. You guys enjoy BBN, but you enjoy hate watching it more.

[color=#550000]It's not even just about the scheming. Go watch one season of BBUK and get back to me. BBUK and BBN use the EXACT SAME FORMAT, but BBUK has better planned and well thought-out twists with more creative tasks, a more interesting selection of housemates who all stand out in their respective ways (it's hard to spot a delawood in BBUK).

And I've watched a good number of BBCAN and especially BBUS seasons from start to finish btw, so don't assume that I've never watched them. My watching BBN is more of a force of habit and due to the fact that I used to be a BBN fanatic, especially during Lockdown. Watching BBUK for the first time reduced my interest in BBN, because the production is simply impressive. You may interpret it as me knocking on our local content, but I just can't deny that BBUK is objectively better than BBN.

They both mentioned it that their connection was genuine and they were looking for something serious. They were acting like she was leading two innocent men that just discovered she was playing them. The same guys who agreed to play her when they found out, so what's the relation of them playing her and saying today they were coming for something serious.
