Dpharisee:
Where is julian assange, the man who indirectly helped him to become President by exposing corruption in the democratic party and war crimes?

Well, assange's sin was that he purportedly embarrassed the political and intelligence class in DC with those leaks. And of course, the highest people in the media were also humiliated with his reporting. And they were all infuriated, so assange needs to be lock away to teach others a bitter lesson going forward.

Meaning every classified information that must be leak must help the political class, not hurt or threaten their grip on power. As usual, I believe Trump was persuaded by McConnel and other established swamp senators in Washington DC, not to go forward with the pardon. Also, remember that his Iimpeacment case is going to the Senate for a vote on conviction, which can be used as leverage as per reports.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly used his clemency authority as a political tool rather than an act of mercy, issued a final wave of pardons and commutations on his last night in office, delivering relief for a mix of beneficiaries that included former strategist Stephen Bannon, Republican Party and Trump fundraiser Elliott Broidy, and former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, found guilty in 2013 of corruption charges.

He granted pardons to 73 people and commuted the sentences of another 70 people, according to a news release from the White House.

Several high-profile figures received pardons, including:

Former Republican House member Rick Renzi of Arizona, convicted in 2013 of extortion, bribery, insurance fraud, money laundering, and racketeering. Renzi left prison in 2017.
Former Rep. Randall “Duke” Cunningham, R-Calif., who was released from prison in 2013 after serving eight years for charges of bribery, fraud, and tax evasion.
Broidy, who pleaded guilty to acting as an unregistered foreign agent and accepting money from Chinese and Malaysian interests to lobby the Trump administration.

Bannon, who is awaiting trial in Manhattan on federal fraud charges tied to a border wall fundraising effort.

Trump and Bannon have had an up-and-down relationship since the flamboyant adviser left the White House in 2017. At one point, Trump banished Bannon from his inner circle, claiming that he was a source of a critical book about the president, but Bannon still worked as a prominent backer of Trump's 2020 reelection campaign.

Pardons follow intense lobbying effort; no family members included

For weeks, political allies, defense attorneys and others have staged an intense lobbying campaign, urging Trump to act on behalf of their clients.

The list was released about 1 a.m. Wednesday, with about 11 hours left in Trump's term.

Soon after, at 1:07 a.m. ET, Trump issued an executive order revoking an ethics rule he authorized in 2017. The move frees former aides from restrictions on lobbying the government.

From the border walls to the federal bench to raging political divisions:How Donald Trump's presidency has changed America

Trump intervened in the case of rapper Bill Kapri, also known as Kodak Black. The president commuted a 46-month sentence for lying on a background check related to a gun purchase.

Robert Zangrillo, a Miami real estate developer who was part of the recent college entrance scandal, received a full pardon. He was accused of conspiring with a college consultant to bribe officials at the University of Southern California to designate his daughter as a recruit to the crew team.

Paul Erickson, the former boyfriend of Russian operative Maria Butina, also received a pardon. He was sentenced last year to 84 months in prison on charges of wire fraud and money laundering.

Among the white-collar offenders, Trump commuted the sentence of Sholam Weiss, convicted in a $450 million mortgage and insurance fraud scheme. He had been sentenced to 835 years after jumping bail.

Weiss was captured in Austria in 2000. His case was supported by Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz and Trump attorney Jay Sekulow. Weiss had been scheduled for release in 2738.

The list is also notable for who isn't on it: The president himself, his family and his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani.

In the final weeks of his presidency, some had speculated Trump would issue pre-emptive clemency to shield his family and lawyer from future legal vulnerability. Federal authorities have been investigating Giuliani and his business dealings in Ukraine.

Also not on the list were julian assange, the WikiLeaks founder indicted in 2019 on espionage charges, and Edward Snowden, the fugitive American who leaked secret files revealing vast surveillance operations carried out by the U.S. National Security Agency.

Lawmakers had asked Trump not to pardon assange and Snowden.

Trump talked to aides about preemptive pardons for Republican lawmakers and others involved in planning the Jan. 6 protests who might face legal problems, an aide said. White House officials talked Trump out of granting pardons connected to the riots.

Trump's mass-clemency action loomed as President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris hosted the first national vigil for the more than 400,000 Americans who have died during the coronavirus pandemic.

Last-minute pardons, including disputed ones, are something of a tradition for outgoing presidents.

As he left office in 2001, President Bill Clinton pardoned fugitive financier Marc Rich in a move some analysts tied to financial contributions.

Trump's previous pardons: Paul Manafort, Michael Flynn, others

Before the last round of pardons, Trump has granted clemency to more than 90 people during his term in office, including allies and former aides involved in the investigation of Russian election interference during the 2016 election.

That group includes Paul Manafort, a Trump campaign manager in 2016 who was convicted of defrauding banks; George Papadopoulos, a former campaign aide who admitted lying to the FBI; and Michael Flynn, a retired Army general who pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials.

Trump also commuted the sentence of longtime political adviser Roger Stone just days before he was set to report to prison after he was convicted of lying to Congress and obstructing the Russia investigation led by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Among other pardons: Charles Kushner, the father of presidential son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner. The elder Kushner has been convicted of preparing false tax returns and witness retaliation.

Pardons have also been granted to two former Republican members of Congress who were early supporters of Trump's presidential bid: Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., who had pleaded guilty to misusing campaign funds; and Chris Collins, R-N.Y., who had pleaded guilty to charges of conspiring to commit securities fraud.

In many cases, Trump did not work with the pardons office at the Department of Justice, but took action on his own based on requests by lobbyists to him and his top aides.

Legal analysts said Trump turned the presidential pardon power into a personal project designed to reward friends and political supporters.

President Donald Trump began his final full day in the White House Tuesday with a long list of possible pardons to dish out before snubbing his successor Joe Biden’s inauguration and leaving for Florida.

On Wednesday at noon, Biden will be sworn in and the Trump presidency will end, turning the page on some of the most disruptive, divisive years the United States has seen since the 1960s.

Biden, a veteran Democratic senator who also served as vice president to Barack Obama, was set to travel to Washington on Tuesday with his wife Dr Jill Biden from their hometown of Wilmington, Delaware.

Together with incoming vice president Kamala Harris — the first woman ever to hold the job — Biden was due to deliver an evening address on the Covid-19 crisis, from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.

By contrast, Trump has remained uncharacteristically silent as the clock ticks down to his departure to a new life in his Mar-a-Lago golf club residence in Palm Beach.

By Clever Advertising
Banned by Twitter for his stream of inflammatory messages and misinformation, he has largely stopped communicating with the nation. He has also yet to congratulate Biden or invite him for the traditional pre-inauguration cup of tea in the Oval Office.

Instead, Trump has spent his time meeting with a dwindling circle of loyalists who backed him during a doomed, two-month effort to overturn the results of the November election.

That effort culminated on January 6 with Trump encouraging a crowd to march on Congress.

After the crowd broke through police, killing one officer, and trashed the hallowed Capitol building, Trump was impeached for the second time in just over a year — another first in a presidency of many firsts.

His final Gallup poll as president on Monday showed him exiting with 34 percent approval, his record low. Trump’s overall average of 41 percent since taking office is also the lowest for any presidency’s approval rating since Gallup began measuring in 1938.

Biden, meanwhile, is putting the finishing touches to an inauguration that will feature a small crowd and massive security — more fallout from the pro-Trump riot, on top of existing concerns about Covid-19.

– Pardons –

Trump issued a scattering of last-minute orders on Monday, most notably a lifting of the travel bans imposed because of the coronavirus on most of Europe and Brazil.

Under Trump’s order, borders were to have reopened from January 26, almost a week after he leaves office. Responding almost immediately, Biden’s spokeswoman Jen Psaki said the measure would not stand.

For Trump, the main piece of unfinished business is now the expected slew of pardons that he is reported to be preparing.

According to CNN and other US outlets, Trump has a list of about 100 people he will grant clemency to.

After what The New York Times reports has been an intense lobbying effort, these are expected to be a mix of white-collar criminals and people whose cases have been championed by criminal justice activists.

More controversial possible pardons that have been the subject of speculation for months would be for the likes of Edward Snowden, julian assange and Trump’s influential advisor Stephen Bannon.

If Trump gave himself or his family a pardon — something currently not expected, according to latest US reports — that would likely harden anger among previously fully supportive Republicans in the Senate, which is expected to start an impeachment trial soon after Biden takes office.

– Unity and fear –

Biden’s inaugural speech is expected to focus on his appeals for Americans to reunite and to take on the Covid-19 pandemic with new seriousness.

He is also set to announce a dramatic shift away from Trump’s “America First” ideology, taking the United States back to its traditions of alliance-building. This will begin with the new president ordering the United States back into the Paris climate accord on day one.

But the 78-year-old Democrat’s fervent appeals for optimism and healing are running up against the hard reality of multiple crises.

Covid-19 is out of control, vaccine distribution is stumbling, and economic recovery remains in the balance. And after Trump’s refusal to accept the results of November’s presidential election, the country is seething.

Biden will take the oath of office on the steps of the Capitol under the protection of more than 20,000 National Guard soldiers. Checkpoints and large zones closed to ordinary citizens mean there will be only a smattering of guests.

The acting defense secretary said Monday that the military and FBI were vetting the National Guard troopers, who carry automatic weapons, in case any of them pose a threat.

– Inauguration snub –

Trump, the first president to lose reelection since George H.W. Bush was replaced by Bill Clinton, will also be the first ex-president to snub his successor’s inauguration in a century and a half.

On Wednesday, he will depart for Florida from the White House early, in order to benefit from full presidential travel privileges up to the last minute.

Marine One will take him from the White House to Joint Base Andrews to catch Air Force One — the presidential plane that, from noon, will no longer be his to use.

According to a Bloomberg report, Trump is organizing a military sendoff for himself at Andrews, watched by a crowd of invitees.

BIG THINGS ARE HAPPENING!
Update: Here is what we know right now. President Trump has court cases still pending that will go to the Supreme Court. Thanks to Texas, he now knows how to file it under article 3 and not under article 2.

This will force the Supreme Court to hear this rewritten case. President Trump has the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) report. It was announced as a late submission. Barr has stepped down on the 23rd, so he is now able to be a witness. It was not able to be announced until now. Durham is now a special counsel.

He can prosecute in any state, all Biden’s! He is allowing the civil, criminal, and federal courts to fail. Why? So he is able to handle the situation properly, using the military tribunals.

President Trump has all the data from NSA, the Kraken supercomputer, the Alice supercomputer, and other systems most are not familiar with. He has the dueling electors from 7 state legislatures. He has VP Mike Pence as the final arbiter of ballots to accept on 1/6/20.

He has the Insurrection Act (see below in a previous post), the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) Emergency Act, the 14th Amendment, the 2018 Executive Order allowing for the rejection of the election based on Foreign Interference, which we now know is true.

He has January 27, 2017, the very first President Trump Executive Order, the Patriot Act, the FISA warrants, the possible Declassification of EVERYTHING, including Wikileaks.

President Trump has 1000 people swear affidavits, the QR code scan personnel who just needs access to some real ballots & he can detect if they are fake by looking for creases & printing items using his scanner technology.

Trump has all the statistical data being analyzed, the videos, emails, phone calls, bank transfer statements showing the coordination of the coup.

We know Zuckerberg funded and manned it, Soros funded it. He has the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organization (RICO) law passed in 1970. President Trump has crimes against humanity videos, which Wikileaks just released massive videos. julian assange is about to be pardoned, so he can talk about Seth Rich.

Now that the governors and secretary of states certified the illegal ballots and Biden has accepted them, they knowingly committed treason! Criminals are desperate and stupid! We just raided the solar company and Dominion is closing up the shop. Many media company CEOs are gone.

The same goes for many politicians. President Trump has the CIA servers from Germany used to change Dominion machines and he will soon have access to the state's machines too.

He baited them to staying in DC so they could be inaugurated...arrested! Biden has not accepted any transition money nor has Kamala given up her seat. The military has infiltrated Antifa & BLM and President Trump has the financial tracings.

He knows exactly which politicians took Chinese and Soros money. He put in Miller & Watnick. He also just reduced more regulations and wrote an Executive Order in the military line of succession.

He is defunding the CIA. He just replaced Kissinger & Allbright on the National Security Advisory Board with his loyalists.

The military has been flying more planes over America and to Guantanamo for the first time in years.

The DNC wanted to close Gitmo, but President Trump said no way and said softly under his breath, I want to use it for her”, meaning crooked Hillary. The navy just parked huge naval fleets on both coasts.

The 82nd airborne is preparing for an operation (same group of Flynn & Donoghue). Things are falling into place. He has it all.

He is just laying out the case and building the narrative. He knows he won and they cheated.

He gave them the chance to fix things. They chose not to. Do not feel sorry for them. They did this to themselves.

What if Donald Trump wins again?
David Frum: First-term Trump was lazy, gullible, ignorant, vain and crooked. Second-term Trump would be worse.

By David Frum
October 7, 2020

If Trump can limit his Electoral College losses in the fall election, he can still eke out a win.

What if he wins? The first thing to understand about that great “what if”—from which so many other grim “what ifs” would follow—is what in the real world a so-called Donald Trump “win” would look like.

If everyone eligible to vote is allowed to vote, if every vote legally cast is counted—then Trump is doomed. His only hope is to find some way to stop the voting, stop the count, and then rely on the weird mechanics of the U.S. Electoral College to save him, against the people’s vote.

Barton Gellman reported in the Atlantic in September that the Trump team is working with officials in Republican-held states to set aside vote counts altogether—and instead authorize state legislatures to choose the state’s electors. If this scheme proves unfeasible, the Trump team has in mind a series of smaller finagles: arbitrarily stopping vote counts prematurely, rejecting—or outright seizing—mailed ballots, and many other forms of chicanery not seen in U.S. politics since the aftermath of the Civil War.

Here’s the core math to remember on the way to a Trump “win."

PAUL WELLS: What if Donald Trump loses?
It’s a good estimate that somewhere close to 145 million Americans will vote in 2020, up from 133 million in 2016. The average of all the major national opinion polls suggests that this vote will break 50.3 per cent for Biden, 43.5 per cent for Trump; a margin of 10 million votes for Biden.

But in a presidential election, the crucial votes are cast not by the people, but by the states, through the Electoral College. In 2016, Trump won 2.9 million fewer votes than Hillary Clinton, yet he won 306 electoral votes to Hillary Clinton’s 232. If in 2020 Trump can limit his Electoral College losses to his very most threatened states—Michigan and Arizona—he can still eke out a 279 to 259 win. (Trump also got a single electoral vote from Maine in 2016. If he loses that, too, he can still squeak to victory, or 278 to 260.)

For all the talk about the solid Trump “base,” it’s important to remember that Trump has been the least popular first-term president in the history of opinion polling, the only first-term president never to reach 50 per cent approval in any reputable poll. Every single day of the Trump presidency since his inauguration in 2017, a documented majority of the American people have disapproved of his administration.

So, the answer to the “what if Trump wins” question needs a little clarifying. Before we reach the effect of a Trump second term on the domestic and foreign policy of the United States, we need to consider how Trump gets from here to there. In real life, the question “what if Trump wins” really means:

What if Donald Trump claims a second term despite another rejection by the majority of American voters?
A Trump “win” will open the question: does voting work? If the American people cannot get rid of a rejected president by casting millions more votes against him than votes for him—how do they get rid of him?

If Trump not only loses the popular vote, but loses that vote in ways that look unfair—stopping the count, junking mailed ballots, forcing voters in minority neighbourhoods to wait in huge lines while voters in wealthier neighbourhoods wait in short ones—what then? The only way a Trump re-election can be achieved is by setting aside normal expectations of how democracy should work. What happens then? Will politics move into the streets? Since the killing of George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer in May 2020, American cities have been wracked by protests and disturbances on a scale not seen since the 1960s. Do bigger and more turbulent protests follow in 2021?

A Trump second term will probably not look like the mostly quiet first three years of the Trump first term. A Trump re-election portends severe political instability for the United States. If Democrats take the Senate in 2020 or in 2022, will there be more impeachment contests, not only of Trump himself, but of despised Trump cabinet appointees like Attorney General Bill Barr? And what happens to the Supreme Court nomination that a re-elected Trump will try to cram through over the objection of the majority of U.S. voters? Will doubts about Trump’s legitimacy spread to other parts of the U.S. political and constitutional system?

And if so, what happens next?

What if Donald Trump tries to force his agenda after a second popular-vote loss?
Republicans face a tough Senate map in 2020. The Senate seats on the ballot in 2022 look even less hospitable to a Trump-led Republican Party. Odds are high, then, that Trump will face not one but two hostile chambers of Congress in a second term.

Those two hostile chambers will show a second minority-elected Trump presidency scant deference. They will see Trump as an illegitimate president, corrupt and compromised by foreign powers, somebody who gamed a broken system hopelessly biased against the American majority.

Trump will have no leverage, no ability to persuade Congress, no ability to reach over the head of Congress to mobilize the American people who will have just repudiated him. His only powers will be those that a president can use unilaterally.

Which leads to the third “what if”:

What if Trump’s scandals and crimes catch up with him in a second term?
In July 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court gave Trump the gift of time. Congress and New York state prosecutors had subpoenaed Trump’s bankers and accountants for financial records. Precedents dating back to the 1880s clearly favoured Congress. But the court found an escape hatch that postponed release of the documents until after the November election.

What has already been seen of Trump’s financial history has been scandalous enough. Evidence of tax fraud, of insurance fraud, of bank fraud, of charity fraud, of money-laundering, of business deals with foreign criminals has all come to light. Should Congress and state prosecutors get hold of more complete records, Trump may face civil and criminal liability on a scale more like a crime boss than a president of the United States.

Yet Trump will be president and will have tools to protect himself: especially the power to pardon. Trump can incentivize and reward silence by witnesses against him. He commuted the sentence of Roger Stone, his go-between to julian assange and WikiLeaks during the 2016 campaign. He could pardon Paul Manafort, Steve Bannon, Ghislaine Maxwell and other Trump associates accused or convicted of crimes that might implicate Trump. He could pardon his children. He could test the limits of law and try to pardon himself.

A second Trump term will see never-ending battles over a president’s power to immunize himself from accusations of crime. It will be Gotham City with the villains in charge.

So, the fourth “what if”:

What if Trump tries to lead U.S. alliances and partnerships around the world despite his illegitimacy at home?
Former secretary of defense James Mattis often says that the United States has two powers: the power of intimidation and the power of inspiration.

In a second Trump term, America’s powers of inspiration will dwindle. America under Trump looks authoritarian, corrupt and incompetent. Its performance during the COVID-19 pandemic was worse than incompetent. The U.S. president seemed motivated by crazy fantasies and infantile egotism as hundreds of thousands of Americans sickened and died unnecessarily.

The rhetoric of democracy will sound derisive in the mouth of an administration put in office by a favoured minority; the language of human rights will command little respect when the American president himself calls it “beautiful” when U.S. police turn their weapons on reporters doing their jobs.

Trump has made clear his vastly greater comfort with and sympathy for authoritarian leaders than democratic allies. Public opinion in the democratic allies has turned sharply against Trump and the United States.

And all this alienation of democratic friends coincides with a marked decline in America’s powers of intimidation.

During the financial crisis of 2008-2009, the U.S. economy was triple the size of China’s. Over the past decade, China has closed much of that gap: the U.S. economy is now only 50 per cent larger than China’s. On the present trajectory, China should equal the U.S. in the next decade or so.

Trump’s big idea as president was to preserve the U.S. lead over China. His administration adopted three big policies to achieve that end: a) a big corporate tax cut to boost U.S. growth; b) tariffs and other anti-trade measures to harm Chinese growth; and c) a big increase in military spending to deter Chinese aggression.

The big tax cut failed to deliver results. It went into effect at the end of 2017. The U.S. economy grew by 2.9 per cent in 2018 and 2.3 per cent in 2019—pleasant but unremarkable, and always short of Trump’s promise of four or even five per cent. There was not a single quarter under Trump when growth caught up to the best quarters under Barack Obama, in 2009, 2011 and 2014.

The trade war with China backfired on the United States. Chinese growth did slow in 2018 and 2019—but remained double that of the U.S. Meanwhile, American anti-trade measures harmed the U.S. farm economy and were the main reason for the slowdown in 2019 as compared to 2018.

As for Trump’s military buildup—$100 billion more in the current year than Obama’s last year—it seems to have had no effect at all. Ships and planes cannot protect democratic demonstrators in Hong Kong, or pressure China to crack down on North Korea, or stop Chinese cyberattacks on U.S. hospitals, or match China’s aid to resource-rich African countries. The two countries are just playing different games. When the United States accumulates weapons to win the game China is not playing, it does not prevent China from winning the game China is playing.

Which raises another terrifying “what if”:

What if there are more and worse crises ahead?
During the COVID outbreak, Donald Trump proved himself a dangerously poor crisis manager. He refused to plan for bad contingencies. He disregarded unwanted information. He interpreted all news through his own ego. He trusted crank information that promised no-work miracles over the advice of experts and scientists. He squandered his credibility by blatantly lying. He could never summon an iota of care or concern for anyone beside himself.

Luckily for Trump, he enjoyed a comparatively easy ride through his first three years in office. Except for natural disasters, he faced only self-created crises until coronavirus struck.

That luck is unlikely to hold in a second term.

There may be more and worse natural disasters, like the hurricane that struck Puerto Rico in 2017 and the wildfires that ravaged the Pacific coast this summer. The recovery from coronavirus may be slower and more painful than hoped. The massive government debt piled up by Trump in his first four years—the heaviest load since the Second World War—may spike interest rates. China and India may fight, North Korea may fire rockets at Japan: your imagination is the only limit here. And Trump will be Trump, only worse. First-term Trump was lazy, gullible, vain, ignorant and crooked. Second-term Trump will be all those things, but also exposed to the whole world as lacking any clout with Congress, any authority in the country. Trump will tweet, people will get mad, but the president will have lost his ability to make things happen. When it counts most for Americans and the world, there will be effectively no U.S. president at all.

Yet as absent as he is, Trump still commands the loyalty of a ferocious minority who regard him as their champion against a threatening world. If he can hold the presidency for four more years, he can hold them. Which brings us to the last ominous “what if”:

What if Trump remakes the Republican Party as a Trump party for years to come?
The Republicans under Trump have become a post-democratic party. They have ceased to compete for votes. They instead compete to prevent voting. If they lose in 2020, they may accept that this project has failed.

But if Trump wins the Electoral College again in 2020, Republicans will collect the rewards of power without earning them the democratic way. A sinister new project will have delivered proof of concept. When something works, it survives. It spreads.

A second Trump term will see never-ending battles

Over the long term, it is conservative Americans who have the most to gain if Trump loses. The discrediting of Trump offers their only path back to democratic viability. Republicans will not self-correct on their own—we have seen that over the past three-plus years. Too many have staked too much on him to turn away, unless painful defeat compels them to turn away. If Trump preserves a hold on power after November 2020, he will preserve his hold on his party—and continue his corruption of that party. Redeemed from Trump, they can renew themselves as a democratically competitive party of the centre-right. But only via defeat can they be redeemed.

The “what if” of a Trump win is a turn away from democratic competition to rule by the most ruthless, the most shameless, the most willing to prevail by any means necessary. That’s a turn to a very dark and dangerous future indeed. On Nov. 3, Americans will decide upon one direction or another—not only by how they vote, but by whether those votes are allowed to decide.

Ronald Reagan liked to call the United States a “shining city on a hill.” He was borrowing from the biblical Book of Matthew: “A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” In the Bible, that verse was not a boast. It was a warning. A city that is set on a hill cannot conceal its faults. Everybody can see. So it is with the United States. Their affairs matter to everyone. If their system succeeds, all free people everywhere are freer and safer. If their system fails, all free people everywhere suffer alongside them.

So what happens if Trump wins? The democratic idea loses. The world trade system loses. Collective security against authoritarian threats from Russia and China—that loses, too. Anybody of a mind to chuckle, point or condescend—after your first few moments of feeling superior—you lose, too. The whole world thrives or falters according to whether the United States thrives or falters. If Trump wins, that experiment falters—maybe not forever, because nothing is forever, but for a dangerously long time.

It’s not only American democracy on the U.S. ballot in November. It’s yours, too.

David Frum is an author and political commentator who served in the first administration of U.S. president George W. Bush. His latest book, Trumpocalypse: Restoring American Democracy, was published in May.

Religion is just a set of doctrines. If you mean religion in terms of going to Sunday services and dancing and all the antics they engage in on regular days? No. That's nonsense.

You can be religious and not be spiritual. Religions is based on doctrines adhere to in the cause of understanding God or anything you serve. Spirituality with God is your personal relationship with God.

A religious person would flood the pages of Nairaland or pray the loudest in church to impress onlookers but might be worse off privately. A spiritual person knows those quiet moments of solitude mean more, and it shows in the way he approaches life even when he knows nobody is watching 'cause there's a supreme being (God) watching. smiley

One of the first things you'd learn in any philosophy class or from any such book is, question everything and only accept them as true until the facts can be analyzed. In this age and time, anyone who depends on one or two sources as his sole information hub is a fóól.

WikiLeaks, for example, is trusted by almost everyone outside the corridors of government power but I cross-check what I read from there. When julian assange was negotiating his freedom and right of passage with the Ecuadorian government while finding refuge in its London Embassy, he could have been turned. He could have done anything to gain favour with them. There are so many sources for information (which have antecedence of being relatively unbiased). I'd never depend on just one.
A truly educated and rational persons gets several versions of any issue and perspectives of it before forming his own opinion on the said issue.

I was about getting into the trump issue before you posted your reply.

First of all, I see how you disingenuously discredited Obama's precedence and appraised Trump for something's that could only have been possible but for Obama.

You focused on two things in your effusion of praise for Trump. Military foreign policy and the economy. But you have conveniently left out that Obama left behind a relatively good, growing and stable economy and also a relatively peaceful globe.

You are giving an extremely simplistic view of the whole issue. For instance, you are praising Trump for not starting any war and criticizing Obama but this same Obama ran on a platform of anti war rhetoric. He was staunchly against the Iraq War started falsely by the bush administration and began pulling out the troops from Iraq and started campaigning for peace and justice in the Middle East. A campaign that got him the Nobel peace prize and started the Arab spring, a revolution that paradoxically led to the war in Afghanistan. If you know you're history well, you'll know that Obama did not wish to engage the US military in further wars in the Middle East but events called for it namely the chaos of the ensuing Arab spring which the terrorist further capitalized on and Russia's growing involvement in the Middle East and it's annexation of Crimea forced Obama's hand.
Finally, It's actually somehow a negative paradox when we have to be happy that a US president does not start a war.

Now unto the economy, Obama inherited a shambolic economy from the bush administration and turned it around and set it on a path of a stable upward mobility which trump inherited (again, unlike the economy bush left behind) and now, the economy has fallen flat because of trump's ineptitude in handling the crises.

Furthermore you say you like trump because he doesn't care about being politically correct but there is a reason it is named so. A political leader bears the responsibility of leading EVERYONE irrespective of differences in beliefs. To do this effectively, a political leader has to be very careful with his utterances in order not to sow discord amongst his subjects or incite violence against his fellow subjects, that births the term politically correct, they are simply some controversial words and terms a political leader should avoid in order to maintain civility, harmony and peace.

When a popular politician begins to breach this wall and throws caution to the wind, violence and social unrest ensues, which is what you are seeing.

Your entire argument is mired in casuistry and sophistry. You are neither here nor there.
I asked you straight forward questions but you decided to provide complex non-answers.
Are you religious? Ans; I am spiritual but i don't go to church or admire any preacher. (how does this work?)
Religion is just a set of doctrines. If you mean religion in terms of going to Sunday services and dancing and all the antics they engage in on regular days? No. That's nonsense.

2nd question: what are your trusted sources of information? Ans; I don't listen to fox or CNN because the're biased. (you still do not answer the question)

A truly educated and rational persons gets several versions of any issue and perspectives of it before forming his own opinion on the said issue.

3rd question; are you philosophically liberal or conservative SOCIALLY? ans; I am a mix of both, (you still do not answer the specific question). Except you didn't understand the question. My question meant, do you support equal rights for LGBTQ people? Do you support the militirazation of the police? Do you oppose the repeal of th 2nd amendment and stronger background checks for possession of firearms? Do you support the notion of equality of all humans irrespective of sexes and genders? Do you support the right to choice of a pregnant woman?

These are all part of liberal policies and ideologies. You didn't give any clear answers to any of these.

-I'm pro-life (as long as carrying the child to term woulldn't risk the life of its mother medically).
-LGBTQI is the most unnatural thing to accept ever. But I don't support brutality against them as long as they keep whatever they do within their circle and don't force it down the throats of others.
-The police has always been a paramilitary organization. It should never be anything less or more. Just what it is.
-There has to be background check for anyone wielding a gun and the weapons should be government-sanctioned, while not taking away the right of a people to defend itself.
-I support humans getting a level playing field for anything. Everyone has to earn any riight they seek and no special favours, male or female.
-There are only 2 genders: Male and female.

4th question? What draws you to trump?
Why Trump? A question I've answered in more ways than one? He tells it as it is.
-He's not a political jobber but a business man.
One of his campaign slogans was, "Let's run American like a business". Meaning, if it's not paying us, we'd stop investing. America was losing money to the needless wars so he started withdrawing.
-First President not a start a war in 40 years.
-Negotiated the Israel-Arab peace deals (further reducing the chances of a full-blown war in the whole of that region).
-Exposed the hypocrisy of the mainstream media for what it is. (I did mention bias from either side earlier on).
-Before Coronavirus, increase reduced the unemployment rate to 3.5 percent (lower than Obama could).
-Demystified the office of the POTUS.
-Keeps interacting with any and everyone directly via social media and refused to insulate himself from the people.
-Bold and fearless (you read of Buhari admitting Trump asked him why he was targeting adherents of a certain religion).
-Put Iran in its place. (Paying Iran billions like Obama did was a betrayal to all peace-loving people and countries as Iran sponsors terrorism).
Trump was the answer to being tired about Obama's betrayal (of peace, of blacks, of the expectations in 2008...). I could go on.

With Trump, you'd know he's the one in control and you know who you are dealing with. With the others before him, you know they are being controlled with party leaders calling the shots.

you made one point saying he doesn't bother about being politically correct and then went on a garrulous narration of past presidents, still not fully addressing qualities of trump that attracts you to him.
Careful. You're breaching the terms of engagement you stepped into the light with. You risk shredding them with your choice of words. Pick a side: Hurling insults or having completely civil and rational exchanges between us on the afore-highlighted topical issues.
We've already established brutal cusswords or the most gentlemanly lexical exchanges, I'd ride either chariot first to the finish line. It's a game of wits after all. smiley

I have admitted to (over the years on Nairaland) a number of things about me (some on this thread) which a few who have interacted with me off-Nairaland can attest to:
Am I religious? While I believe in the concept of God, in recent years I have willed myself to be as less religious as possible.
I am probably the least religious person on this thread because I believe religion is nothing but organized with rules seeking to dictate our every activity. You've probably attended church last year more times than I have in the last 6 years.

I focus more on spirituality than religion so, yes, I subscribe to the Christian faith in that concept but I disagree with a lot of things (doctrines and the almost literal or transliterated interpretation of the Bible, for example). I'd never regard any person as my "spiritual father".
Worse even, I avoid people who are overly-religious 'cause with certainty, they are fanatics. Don't ever tell me "My pastor said...". I'd avoid you from thence.
Liberalism or Conservativism?
I am a cross between being liberal and conservative (people call such people "centrists"wink but with the contemporary interpretation of liberalism, I tilt more towards being conservative, politically especially.
Most trusted sources of information?
Sources without an obvious horse in any race. A Scottish newspaper is less likely to be biased about football reporting about a London derby than Manchester and Liverpool newspapers. The later have rivalries or indirect rivalries which would influence the reporting.
I'd never accept a Fox News or CNN reporting at face value. I'd dig further because they have horses in the race (pro-Right and pro-Left).
I read from multiple sources and get raw feelers from real people with nothing to gain or lose directly which way an issue goes. Whistleblowing sources are one of them.
julian assange of WikiLeaks had nothing to gain or lose by releasing the Hillary Clinton dossier in 2016. That's just one example.

What draws me to a figure like Trump?
I've stated on this thread over time that my affinity for Trump is, with him what you see is what you get. If he's going to call you an 'idiot', he would publicly. If he hates you, he'd tell you to your face. And he's not down with the politically correct culture. And he's doing everything he said he would while he sook to become POTUS.
With Trump, you know what to expect. He's not going to claim to welcome all illegal immigrants before the media then end up building cages like Obama did with the ICE program.
Hillary has been a political jobber all her adult life and has done nothing for the minority community which she claims her party represents.

Bill Clinton feigned a nice guy person almost as lovable as Reagan and JFK but imprisoned more black men than any other US President in history.
Politically correct culture is synonymous with hypocrisy.
Obama feigned a nice guy persona then went on to arm militias-cum-terrorists during the Arab Spring which swelled the ranks of ISIS and made Boko Haram become a terror group from 2016 then culminating into ISWAP and other factions.
He did nothing for the black community even when he promised them a lot.
He escalated wars and invaded countries when he claimed he'd withdraw troops.

That is why julian assange of wiki leaks and Edward Snowden of NSA scandals happened, they revealed News USA is hiding from the rest of the world and even it's citizens.

that is why Nigerians are very afraid of FBI, CIA etc even though those guys aren't even as good as Anonymous or fancy bear when it comes to hacking and cyber space, check all their movies USA ALWAYS wins, same with the news it always points in the direction that USA will eventually win.

I bet you didn't know that Nigerian forces are the fastest ground forces in history in world war 2 on march 14, 1941 the Nigerians chased down the Italians in record time in Ethiopia, yet you have 0 respect for Nigerian military because of all the bad news you hear and the lack of shame our people have so they steal openly and keep their dirt in the open for all to see.

The world fears American military even though Israel has a better trained, more compact military, more efficient, infact Vietnamese Rice farmers defeated US troops WELL in 1955-1975 massacred them. And USA started hiring military contractors and Africans to fight in their name so it always seems USA has little or no casualties because US army didn't die meanwhile their us military contractors and the Africans they hired died but won't be counted to the rest of the world as US citizens or casualties.

Thanks for all the likes and comments so I'll add jara.

"Do not fear the enemy for they can only take your life, fear the media far more for they will destroy your honour" -

this was what the Vietnamese General Vo Nguyen Giap (who actually had no direct military training and was a history teacher at a French-speaking academy) told the Vietnamese people during the Vietnamese war with America.

That's why I referred to them as rice farmers and not soldiers even their highest ranked fighters weren't actually trained majority of the soldiers were rice farmers Yet they defeated USA and very few people know the outcome of the war thanks to US media control.

After the war one of USA's top military officials said "it was the first war we fought on the television screen and the first war our country ever fought were the media had FULL REIGN"

Nigerians have been lied to alot to believe America has the best military in the world.

World War 2 was majorly won by the Soviet Union

The Vietnamese war was won by Ho Chi Minh, even with the untrained less equipped and poor Vietnamese people.

America was loosing the war but lying to their people that they were gaining ground.

They're still fighting in Afghanistan for over a decade and haven't made any serious progress.

The only credit they can claim is the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which reports says they were already willing to surrender because the Japanese fear the advancing Soviet Red Army.

I don't see any major war they've won, and I see people who keep on believing their lies as those who know little about historical events.

All these bad coverage will affect us negatively, perception, travel for business, leisure and education already China is in full swing it's business as usual you can go online and order goods from China Nd it'll be delivered to Nigeria meanwhile someone outside Nigeria cannot order goods from Nigeria and get it in his/her country. Why? Didn't China have worse hit than us? They supressed their Corona cases and even tried to silence the doctor who broke the story remember?

Countries purported to be badly hit are being restricted by E.U and many nations, Portugal was angry that UK restricted their citizens when they don't have many cases then imagine whether or not Nigeria won't be restricted when you present to the world on BBC that;
1. your people are ignorant,
2. The virus is ravaging Nigeria
3. The medical sector is poor and ill equipped to face the disease even tho we dealt with ebola

Connect the dots
How do you get this informed? (referring to Vietnamese rice farmers and other wars)

Nigeria we nor dey try at all

Small thing we don run go call BBC, CNN, Al-Jazeera

To sell bad stories of our country and you expect the world to respect us?

Incase you don't know, USA vets most news coming out of USA to the rest of the world especially anything that will affect their Military reputation

China, russia, India, south africa etc all vet news that pertains their various nations

That is why if you go to China today they will say you the foreigner is the cause of Corona, if you go to South Africa today they will say you the foreigner is the cause of drugs, rape, Hiv, prostitution everything bad happening in South Africa.

We are too interested in earning crumps that we sell our reputation for next to nothing.

Not really hunger my bro, our problem is borne out of our selfish desire, greed or quest to have everything. Sadly we even join foreigners to speak ill of our country as if Americans and Europeans are saints. A typical American will fight tooth and nail to uphold that name "America" as a great brand to the other world, unlike in Nigeria where people can even sell their families for the love of money....May God help us.

We are talking about a pandemic that has no cure and you are comparing it to military might of the western world !!!
So we should rather say there is no corona virus in nigeria when we know rate of infection is rising everyday ? And When the cure or vaccine comes out we will be told we don’t really need It since our country is corona free while we die in silence??
Where is the sense in what you just typed ??
The cost of HIV retroviral drugs is supported by the western world because they know the rate of infection in nigeria is high and people can’t afford to buy it .
To make it worse over 246 people like this shit you wrote !!! Are we this stupid in nigeria ?
The United States made it known that over 100k people died , the UK did samething
