While the love of my son made me to pay lot of visits to my ex dad house in Ajegunle alongide Sango road ,i find out my son stayed 2 months at home before registering him into 1 mushroom school and his mum never allowed me to know what class he was .He spent just 1st term of his Nursery 2 with me and was doing fine before his mum decided to shock me .The visits made us to had things together again.

Before the kids holiday started ,she came around once and we did stuff together and immeaditely the school break started ,she brought my son and in all,i would say we have stayed almost 3 weeks together.(She went back to her place at Ajegunle on friday , .She never returned any of the items she packed. I find out her siblings and dad got a room for her .So,she got the room filled with all my belongings .If i ask her about it ,she tells me to forget about it and i didnt even complain. To say the truth ,the love i have for her have diminished a lot and it is up to the level that i dont feel anything for her if i dont see her .I only develop feeling for her if i see her with my son .

Now,my son have been with my younger sister since 15 days ago
and i find out that boy cant even write or read but could only fit for Nursery 2 instead of Basic 1 he was supposed to be promoted to if his mum didnt take him away .my sister is a teacher and she is good at teaching very well. From the lesson she enrolled him and her sons ,i was made to know that boy cant even cope in Basic 1 .Even ,he will only manage to be in Nursery 2.

I had to shed some tears on hearing this .I called my elder sister and told her i will not allow him to go back to Ajegunle.I plan to create time for him when school resumes .I am enrolling him into Nursery 2 and also get a teacher for him .I will make sure i close early from work to do my own part .

About his mum,i am not interested any longer .She have really done a lot of damages to my life mentally, financially and emotionally .The worst of it is my son eduaction .She have messed me up so much .I was supposed to get a new accommodation before she packed away my stuffs but i spent all the money i saved to get new items .I started over again and thank God ,i am moving out of this house latest september ending .

I am so devastated and i pray God give me the strength to teach my son the way i want and may God bless his brain too .I have decided to live alone woth him so i can train him the way i want and in God way .He is 5 years and 3 months old

Business / Senator Defeated As A'ibom Works Commissioner Becomes Political Leader by Akwaibomdaily: 2:46pm On Aug 20, 2023
...as Mkpat Enin bigwigs present him to public as Political Leader of Mkpat Enin

...we begged him for three months to accept Political Leadership - Hon. Umoattan

...nobody is more Mkpat Enin than any other Mkpat Enin son or daughter - Council Chairman

Yesterday, about five thousand attendees witnessed the event that brought to an end the speculation or otherwise the successful and official declaration and presentation of Professor Eno Ibanga as the political leader of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area to the general public.

Professor Eno Ibanga at about twelve noon made a triumphant entry in Grand style to the venue of the event, and was received by Mkpat Enin traditional rulers at the gates of Council Secretariat with thousands of people witnessing the brief traditional rituals that took place at the gates of the venue.

In what could be described as a festival of honour, Professor Eno Ibanga was thereafter received and adequately celebrated in the presence of former Governor Udom Emmanuel , Barr. Emmanuel Enoidem, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, and the dean of Commissioners and Special Advisers, Sir Monday Ebong Uko who led members of the state Executive Council and Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to Mkpat Enin where a reception was held in honour of Professor Eno Ibanga and he was officially presented by who is who in Mkpat Enin to the general public as the political leader of Mkpat Enin.

The event took place under a very peaceful atmosphere and clement weather.

Speakers at the event, drawn from the highest political echelon in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and across the state extolled the good virtues of Professor Eno Ibanga that has made him deserving the honour done on him.

At the event, the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel congratulated Professor Eno Ibanga on the honour done on him by his people. "This honour given you by Mkpat Enin people is a testament to your maximization of the opportunity to serve in Government to the benefit of the people. I have no doubts that you and capable to do even more and carry the task ahead successfully. Once again congratulations". He said.

Mr. Udom Emmanuel was represented by the immediate past member representing Eket, Onna, Esit Eket and Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Pat Ifon. Udom Emmanuel's presence was significant because he was the last Political Leader of Mkpat Enin, having taken over when there were crisis in 2016. He was on hand to congratulate Professor Eno Ibanga on his recognition as the political leader of Mkpat Enin.

In his goodwill message, the dean of Commissioners, and Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko who led a peck of Commissioners to the event, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong extolled the virtues of Professor Eno Ibanga. He said that with what he has witnessed at the event, it was obvious that Professor Eno Ibanga is a man of the people and he assured Mkpat Enin people of the capabilities of Professor Eno Ibanga to lead them aright, adding that the celebration in mkpat enin puts an end to the “imaginary crises” read on social media about the local government.

In his welcome remarks the Executive Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area Hon. Anieokpon Ekpo applauded Mkpat Enin people and other well wishers from across the state for attending the event in such a large number.

He said that the event was the beginning of full independence and emancipation of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area from being leaderless. He added that nearly everyone who ought to be at the event to make it a success was present.

In his words, "as the chief security officer of the local government, I have declared in unity with our key Stakeholders that Professor Eno Ibanga henceforth is the political leader of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area, and he has our consent to represent us wherever decisions that bind us as a people shall be taken. Nearly everyone that should be here is present. Anyone that is not present here is not more Mkpat Enin than all of us put together. What we do today stands as the voice of majority of Mkpat Enin people, anyone is free to talk or write but no one can take away what we have done today".

Notably, the Chairman of the occassion, the Rt. Hon. Bernard Udoh, a former three term (12year) member of House of Representatives in Abuja recalled how it took the members of Mkpat Enin Political Stakeholders nearly three months to convince Professor Eno Ibanga to accept their call to be the political leader of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

The Rt. Hon. Bernard Udoh said "The position of Political Leadership of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area has been vacant for a long time, since 2016 that the last occupant of that office officially declared that age is no longer favourable to him to act that duty. And three months ago, we sat down and agreed that we cannot be the only local government without a political leader. When we gathered and searched for who can lead us, we found no other person worthy than Professor Eno Ibanga. I would have been the one to take that position but I said no, I have found a man with capability. We have all agreed that he should lead us, and we pray God to strengthen him to do so.

Representative of the four clans of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area presented the position of their various clans.

Hon. Ephraim Akpan a former Local Government Chairman spoke for Ibiaku clan, Dr. Anietie Essien a board member spoke for Ikpa Ikono clan, Chief Inwang Inyang a senior Stakeholder spoke for Ukpum Minya clan, while Chief Friday Ayara a founding member of PDP from Mkpat Enin Local Government Area and chapter Chairman spoke for Ikpa Ibom clan.

All of them recognized and pledge the support of their clans to Professor Eno Ibanga and celebrated that Mkpat Enin is free from the era that any one man can decide for the generality of the people.

Specifically, Chief Inwang Inyang said "the bible says love your neighbour as you love yourself, we have seen a man that within less than three years in Government he has turned around his own community. And charity is supposed to begin at home. Anyone that cannot develop his own community cannot develop another community. We give him Political Leader because we have total confidence that given opportunity he will spread and attract development to the rest of Mkpat Enin Local Government Area".

The House of Assembly member after singing songs elaborated that who is who in Mkpat Enin are with Professor Eno Ibanga.

'If you look at this venue, you will see the Local Government Chairman, the House of Assembly member, three time House of Reps member from Mkpat Enin, all the former Local Government Chairmen of Mkpat Enin are here, former House of Assembly member. You also have here upto twelve ward chairmen out of fifteen, Councillors, supervisors, the front line women leaders in Mkpat Enin are here Lady Ekaette Usip and Mrs. Idara Ephraim Akpan are here, the youth Council Chairman Emem Alex, and the youth caucus Chairman Comrade Tony Evans. So please tell me which stakeholder in Mkpat Enin is not here. Apart from the Senator? The answer is that MAJORITY of those that should have a mouth in this matter are here in support".

Chairman of Youth Council, Etubom Emem Alex extolled the compassionate and generosity of Professor Eno Ibanga. "We say that this man deserves to be honoured, we have seen him empowering men, women and youth. He has come to say that there are goodies in Government. Empowerments here and there. We the youth call for peace. There should be no more social media banters we should warm up to enjoy the dividend of democracy".

Highpoints of the event were the presentation of certificate of recognition as Political Leader of Mkpat Enin to Professor Eno Ibanga by Mkpat Enin Stakeholders.

And the presentation of the sword of defense, signifying a symbol to use and defend Mkpat Enin Local Government Area from any aggression. Various groups in uniforms also made presentations and dances to celebrate Professor Eno Ibanga.

In his acceptance speech, Prof. Eno Ibanga thanked God for what He is doing in Mkpat Enin and for Mkpat Enin people. He expressed his gratitude to the Executive Governor of Akwa I on State, Pst. Umo Eno for giving him the opportunity to serve in the current administration and also extended his gratitude to his former boss the immediate past governor of the state who brought him fully into the government and politics, he particularly thanked his colleagues, members of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and Chairmen of Councils who were present at the occasion.

Prof Eno Ibanga called on all Mkpat Enin sons and daughters to think first of mkpat enin before self interest. He thanked the stakeholders for the confidence and trust reposed on him as their political leader and assured everyone that he would be inclusive, exemplary, selfless and sacrificial in his approach on issues concerning Mkpat Enin.

Condolences As Publisher BethNews Mourns Major Segun Oni, Other Military Personnel Ambushed On Monday By Dreaded Bandits

It is with high sense of loss and compassion that we hereby send our sincere condolences and profound sympathies to the entire family of Late Chief Oni in Erukucity, Kwara State over the demise of our beloved son, brother, Major Segun Oni.

It is obvious that the passing of a loved one, more so one's Father, leaves a very painful trail and agony. But please be consoled by the fact that from God we came and to Him we shall all return after our earthly sojourn.

for us humans, there is a time to be born and a time to die. Though the timing and manner of death, an inevitable end, is a secret known only to the Almighty God.

Major Segun Oni answered the call of God on Monday 13th of August 2023 at about 5:40am when the dreaded terrorists, bandits ambushed their camp in Niger State. We learnt he was the senior officer who led the squad to save the lives of the citizens and to protect their properties but it's so unfortunately he embarked on a journey of no return at the age of forty plus. I never knew July 20, 2023 will be the last day we will be exchanging pleasantries together when I received your call to tell me some things and to further commend my proactiveness over my profession Oh! what a painful exit!

It's on a record that Late Chief Oni, your biological father laid good legacies for you to follow in which you never derail from his good antecedents until this abrupt death. You are a very active officer in the Nigerian military force with a pure heart to discharge your effective activities at when due and always accommodating any Eruku Youths who come around you oh! What a giant stride Major Segun Oni.

We mourn with grief while I pray that the Almighty God grant the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. (Amen).

Religion / Divine Healing From God. by Missyajoke(f): 8:35pm On Aug 14, 2023
Lord Jesus I pray you'll touch the heart of anyone who will read this message in Jesus name (Amen). I pray in the name of Jesus that God will minister to you through this message in this name (Amen).
Luke 8:43-48 goes thus And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace
This Bible passage shows the healing power of God and how mighty God is. I pray for anyone reading this message that it there's any sickness you're battling with in the name of Jesus Christ you're made whole (Amen).

Jesus and his disciples went to Jericho. And as they were leaving, they were followed by a large crowd. A blind beggar by the name of Bartimaeus son of Timaeus was sitting beside the road. When he heard that it was Jesus from Nazareth, he shouted, “Jesus, son of David,[a] have pity on me!” Many people told the man to stop, but he shouted even louder, “son of David, have pity on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him over!”. Jesus prayed for Bartimaeus and he became whole. In the name of Jesus if you're experiencing any pain or discomfort in your body God has made you whole in Jesus name (Amen). Goodnight everyone, God bless you all.

Politics / El-Rufai Absent At His Son, Bello’s Wedding (Photos) by Islie: 2:30pm On Aug 13, 2023
Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State was conspicuously absent when Bello, his eldest son, got married to his second wife, Aisha Habibu Shuaibu, on Saturday.

Daily Trust had reported how El-Rufai jetted out of the country after he pulled out of the ministerial race.

The senate had last week confirmed 45 out of the 48 ministerial nominees of President Bola Tinubu.

But El-Rufai and two other nominees – Stella Okotete (Delta) and Danladi Abubakar (Taraba) – were not confirmed as the senate said they were awaiting security clearance.

The former governor met with President Bola Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja, on Tuesday, after which he flew abroad, with sources saying he was off to Europe, but would be in Egypt first.

Bello, Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Banking Regulations, had a private Nikah with the daughter of a former Military Administrator for Plateau and Niger States, Col. Habibu Shuaibu, in Abuja on Saturday.

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna, whom Bello served as legislative aide when the governor was a senator, stood in as the father of the day.

In Hausa tradition, the Wakili (representative) of the groom’s father receives the bride at a wedding, while the waliyyi, representative of the bride’s family at a wedding, gives out the bride.

However, this tradition does not stop the parents of the couple from witnessing their children’s wedding as Hajia Hadiza Isma El-Rufai was on ground.

Expressing delight over being the father of the day at the wedding, Governor took to his verified X account (formerly known as Twitter) to share some pictures of the ceremony with caption: “On Saturday, August 12th, 2023, I had the honour of standing in as the father of the groom at the wedding ceremony of my former Senior Legislative Aide, and House of Representatives Member (Kaduna North Fed. Constituency), Hon. Bello El-Rufai and his beautiful wife, Aisha Shuaibu. I wish them a happy married life and I pray that Allah makes theirs among the best. Ameen.”

Religion / Meditate On This Tonight by Mrsoft3(m): 10:36pm On Aug 12, 2023
*Meditate on this Tonight:*

*Topic: The Word*

*Text: John.1:1 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.*

The Word has been existing since time inmemorial.

Today's text establishes several important facts, and introduces an important term.
It establishes that the universe had a beginning. This actually means that right even before time began, the Word(Christ) existed. Who then is the Word(Jesus)? Jesus is referred to as "The Word," from the Greek word logos. He(Christ) is the Logos, the definition, the meaning, the "Word" of God. He, has always being in existence, He didn't just came to be when Mary the virgin (his mother) conceived and delivered Him.

Another important fact stated is: "and the Word was with God,". We have already establish that the Word is Jesus and the second part of John 1:1 shows that the Word is not alone. He is with God the Father! This is shows that the Word is not God but they(The Word and God) were together.

"and the Word was God."
the concept of trinity is introduced; where God is one being in three distinct persons. Everything that can be said about God the Father can be said about God the son. Hence, In Jesus(the Word ) dwells all the wisdom, glory, power, love, holiness, justice, goodness, and truth of the Father. In Him, God the Father is known.

Do you then think coming to Jesus will take you away from God? Let your heart come to a place of rest, because we can only approach the Father by coming through the son(the Word). Why not allow the one who has been in existence before the beginning be your guide as He leads you to the Father; our Father. Please pray with me.

Prayer Point: Dear Lord, I come before tonight with my deeds and unbelief. Please work upon my life and bring me to the point of total belief in the existence of the Word. In Jesus name, amen.

THE SEAT OF GLORY is a story of a youngman named Kolade. He has a special seat which he inherited from his father who also inherited it from his own father and down to their ancestors. It was believed that the seat is the symbol of the glory of the family. It was handed down from generation to another generation because it had not yet gotten to the person destined to activate the glory. It was told to Pa Akinsakin who was Kolade's father that Kolade was the one foretold by the oracle to unveil the glory but the procedure was not communicated to him by his father.
The seat of glory has been with Kolade wrapped in white cloth. It was carefully placed in his room with an instruction that prohibits any member of the family to go near it. Few years later, Kolade was in serious financial problem. He was known in the town to be lazy, jobless and always dependent on friends. He borrowed some money from one of his friends named Lanre for his family welfarism. He intended to pay back in three months but unfortunately for Kolade, he couldn't pay back because he had no other source of income. The debt became a heavy yoke on him till Lanre got angry and brought two hefty body guards to get his money. He couldn't get the money that day but with the help of his guards, he snatched Kunle who was Kolade's son and took him away from his parents as ransom for the #50,000 that Kolade borrowed. Kolade and his wife couldn't believe what Lanre did. Also, there was nobody to defend or assist them financially for the rescue of Kunle. So, Kolade went out for help. He met a friend and begged for financial assistance. The friend, Tobi suggested that Kolade should consult a Pastor, Alfa or an Ifa priest that would deliver him from all his challenges because he sensed that Kolade's financial problem had a spiritual undertone. Kolade ignored Tobi's advice and met another friend who was a farmer coming from his farm. Lakunle advised Kolade to go see an old woman who lived in the outskirt of the town very close to the deep forest. She was known for loaning money to people. Kolade found this interesting. He quickly went to meet the old woman for money. The old woman demanded for the special seat in Kolade's house as a collateral for the loan. At first, Kolade was surprised that the old woman got to know about the seat he inherited from his father but he never fretted about giving her the seat for the money. The deal between Kolade and the old woman was that, Kolade wanted to borrow #50,000 but the old woman wanted to lend him #100,000 so he could pay the debt of #50,000 and use the balance to start up a small business. There was an agreement that the borrowed money must be returned the same day in the next two months but in the meantime, the seat of glory will be in the custody of the old woman. for the eagerness of Kolade, he went straight home to bring the seat and gave it to the old woman. She collected it and gave Kolade the money he requested for with a warning that if he failed to return the money he borrowed at the appointed time, he should forget his seat in her custody.
Kolade accepted. He went straight to Lanre's house and got his son back. He also used the remaining money to set up a small retail business for his wife according to the advice of Mama but unfortunately for him, the business did not make progress. It happened that all the food stuffs that were meant to be sold out to make profit were used as the meal of the family. It got to the time for Kolade to return the money, he could not. So, he abandoned the seat with the old woman. Then his suffering became double. He started making findings to get another help out his predicament. Tobi came to the rescue. He lured him to see a man of God whom he recently heard of. The pastor told him about the essence of the seat and he added that Kolade needed the help of Christ to deliver the seat from the old woman and without the seat, it would be difficult for Kolade to be successful in life. The Pastor told Kolade that the glory embedded in the seat will only be activated by fasting and prayers but first we have to get the seat from the evil woman.
On the final saga of the story, Kolade and his wife went to the old woman with the money to return it and retrieve the seat. The old woman reminded Kolade of the agreement they had on their transaction. Mama Kunle, Kolade's wife stirred up an argument with the old woman. The old woman got angry and turned her into a barking dog. Few seconds before then, Kolade too had started exchanging words with the old woman, he wanted to run into the old woman's hut to take the seat, the woman struck him with the rod in her hand. Kolade ran away as fast as he could and few minutes later, he returned with the pastor. Pastor Sam was surprised when he saw Mama Kunle barking like a dog. He laid his right hand on her head as he spoke in tongues. After some seconds, the Pastor shouted the name of Jesus and Mama Kunle returned to normal. Pastor chastised Kolade for the foolish act for coming to challenge the old woman instead of following his lead. Kolade said he had prayed with his wife before coming but the Pastor insisted that it was not to just pray but to follow due procedures as laid down by the spirit of God. The Pastor returned to the old woman. He talked with her with intention to make her handover the seat in peace but the old woman was adamant. She started reciting some incantations. The Pastor too continued to pray and speak in tongues. The old woman wanted to hit the pastor with the rod in her hand but the pastor stretched the Bible in his hand towards the old woman and with a loud shout of the name of Jesus, the old woman fell gradually and began to cry begging the Pastor not to kill her. She ordered that Kolade should go and carry his seat and all of them should leave her domain at once. The Pastor went into the old woman's house to bring the seat. He gave it to Kolade and they left the presence of the old woman who lied on the ground like a dead person. Few years later, Kolade had prayed and fasted according to the instructions of the Pastor. He became a rich man who owned a big factory where he employed many youths of the town and beyond. He built a mall for his wife; his children were doing great in school and everybody around him benefited from his success. Because of Kolade, the people of the community learnt a lesson that a nobody can still become somebody.

Some notable lessons from the story
- good inheritance should be handed down to new generation not the other way round.
- working hard is best appreciated not depending on others
- loaning money except for the intention of investment is not a reasonable thing.
- it is wrong to look down on people. No one knows tomorrow.
- don't lend people money that you cannot give out for free. It can lead to conflict if the person finds it difficult to pay back.
- if it is necessary that you borrow money, make sure it is from someone that you know and trust. A strange lender could be very dangerous.
- in any difficulty a person finds himself, God is the best way out.
- a nobody can still become somebody. Treat people with fairness.

Family / Northern Women Face Divorce, Trauma For Receiving Treatment From Male Doctors by ijustdey: 9:12am On Aug 12, 2023
If it were not for the timely intervention of the elderly Islamic cleric at Kizara Village in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Garba Umar would have ended his 15-year-old marriage to his wife, Halima.

Her offence was allowing a male doctor attend to her in the labour room.

Saturday PUNCH learnt that when efforts by other women in the compound failed to help when she went into labour, she was rushed to the Tsafe General Hospital following noticeable complications that often accompany childbirth.

On getting to the hospital, there were no female doctors or nurses on the ground to attend to her. Thus, they were constrained to allow a male doctor on duty attend to her, at which time her health seemed to be failing.

Reluctant to embrace the option, the women said they had no choice but to allow the doctor (names withheld for security reasons) attend to her.

After three days of being in a coma, Halima survived, but she lost the baby. However, her family and friends were consoled that she made it out alive.

But unknown to the distraught mother, the consequences of allowing a male doctor attend to her awaited her at home. Her husband, it was learnt, had become livid, hurled insults at her and even threatened a divorce for allowing a male doctor to attend to her.

Those privy to the drama said Halima was on her way out of the marriage, but for the swift intervention of the cleric, who counselled and cautioned her husband against such a move.

The cleric told him it wasn’t prohibitive in Islam for a male doctor to attend to a female patient in the absence of female medical personnel,” one of the witnesses told Saturday PUNCH.

Sadly, such an experience is not new, neither is it exclusive to Halima.

The same fate befell Hafsat, a resident of Talata Mafara in Zamfara State, in which case her husband warned that on no account should she seek medical attention from a male doctor in his absence, no matter the gravity of the ailment.

The vicissitudes of life would, however, compel Hafsat to flout the instruction. Like Hafisat, she was delivered of a baby girl by a male doctor when the husband was unavailable. It took the intervention of family and friends that the marriage didn’t end in a divorce.

Double loss for Mukhtar

Unlike Halima and Hafsat, who were both lucky to have their marriages intact despite flouting the ‘golden rule’ set by their husbands, a 14-year-old mother in Zango Local Government Area of Katsina State, Aminat Mukhtar, wasn’t as lucky. Hers ended in a divorce despite aborting her education because of the marriage.

She said her husband divorced her for allowing a male doctor attend to her when she had complications during childbirth. Sadly, she had a stillbirth. Thus, she lost the baby and her marriage.

Mukhtar, who was a JSS 3 student at a government secondary school in 2022, said she was out of school for a year due to the development, noting that her suitor pressured her for the marriage, a situation that made her drop out of school for one year before the outcome of the short-lived marriage compelled her to return to school.

According to her, the school principal, Fatima Muhammed, was impressed with her courage and allowed her to return to the school. However, she could only return to JSS 3 instead of SS1 as her former classmates were already ahead of her academically.

Mukhtar revealed that her ambition in life was to become a school teacher.

She told one of our correspondents in an interview, “I am 14 years old and the eldest in my family. We are three in the family. The other two are a boy and a girl. I am in JSS3.

“‘I was initially attending school here (Government Girls Secondary School, Baure) when I met a man who said he wanted to marry me. He promised me several things and lured me to drop out of school. After I left school, I kept on seeing my schoolmates, and they told me that some programmes were being implemented at the school to assist students who were from poor homes like me. I made inquiries and confirmed that it was true.

“I subsequently called off the marriage proposal, and I returned to the school. Our school principal assisted me a lot, and up till now, she keeps on encouraging me. I have no regrets for my decision to return to school. my ambition is to become a schoolteacher and contribute to the development of my community.”

As heartbreaking as these are, such cases are prevalent in some northern states like Katsina, Kano, Sokoto, Bauchi, Zamfara, Kebbi, Jigawa, and others.

In some of the states, male doctors are reluctant to attend to female patients, especially in public hospitals, without their husbands present, for their own safety or the possible consequences for the woman.

A staff nurse at the Federal Medical Centre, Gusau, Zamfara State, Mohammed Sani, who spoke to Saturday PUNCH said male doctors had stopped attending to female patients, except with the permission of the husband or the guardian, as the case might be.

Sani told one of our correspondents that over the years, there had been marital quarrels, which often led to separation or outright divorce over the issue of male doctors attending to female patients, especially pregnant women.

He stated, “We (male medical personnel) are no longer attending to pregnant women in labour unless we get the written agreement from their husbands or relations. There are so many incidents where pregnant women who are in labour were attended to by male doctors and the issue became unpleasant in the end.

“You know that we have shortage of female doctors, as such, male doctors must be assigned to attend to female patients, especially those in labour.”

On the religious implication, a renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Liman Musa-Kura, told Saturday PUNCH that in Islam, male doctors are not allowed to see the anatomy of a married woman except with the consent of her husband or blood relatives.

Kura warned that male doctors should stay off from attending to a woman during labour unless it became absolutely necessary.

The cleric stressed that in the absence of female medical personnel, it was only if the female patient was in grave danger that a male doctor could be called upon to save her life.

Musa-Kura stated, “In Islam, everything is fully explained. It is forbidden for a man to see a female private parts if he is neither her husband nor her blood relation.

“So, in case there is no female doctor around, a male doctor could be assigned to treat a woman in the presence of either her husband or her relatives.”

Meanwhile, Kura lamented the shortage of female doctors in the state, urging the authorities to do something in order to avert the “ugly trend”. He cited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia “where only female health personnel can treat their fellow women.”

Interestingly, the opinion of the District Head of Gagi community in Sokoto State, Alhaji Sani Umar Jabbi, was different.

According to him, it was unconstitutional to ask housewives not to seek medical attention from male medical doctors, adding that it had nothing to do with religion.

He described as “heartless” the attitude of some men in the northern part of the country, who punish their wives or deny them the right to seek medical attention from the hospital because they do not want them to be attended to by male doctors.

As a way out, the monarch called for more protection for women, especially housewives whom he said deserved the same protection as the men in the society.

He stressed the need to invest in girl-child education, noting that “the consequence of not investing in girl-child education by our people in this part of the country is what causes men to dominate every strategic part, including the health sector.”

Umar Jabbi noted, “The problem with our men in the North is that they have conservative mindset for not supporting women’s education, and unless we provide the opportunity for girl-child education and their empowerment, we will continue to have a gap.

“We must henceforth realise that education of the female children too is part of human rights and should be given priority. The issue of health care is also a guaranteed right of everyone, irrespective of their gender or status.

“I pray we change our perspectives so that in future we can have more human resources to take care of those areas, such as nurses, doctors, gynaecologists, among others, so as to meet our demands.”

Indeed, like Umar Jabbi noted, while it is inexcusable for men to deprive their wives of medical care because of the absence of female doctors and nurses, the menace also highlights the consequences of depriving female children of education, a danger more common in northern Nigeria.

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation in 2022, Nigeria had about 20 million out-of-school children, especially those aged between six and 18. Even though the Universal Basic Education Commission believed the real figure was about 10 million, Nigeria is said to have one of the highest figure in the world.

According to UBEC, the out-of-school children mainly comprise of the girl-child in northern Nigeria, boy-child in the South-South and South-East geopolitical zones, internally-displaced children, and the Almajiri Qur’anic and itinerant children “who are predominantly found in Northern Nigeria”.

The Department of Special Programmes at UBEC was however mandated to coordinate and implement all special interventions to address the out-of-school children challenge.

Equally contributory to the travails of the girl child, especially in northern Nigeria, is the issue of child marriage. The United Nations Population Fund revealed late last year that no fewer than 20,000 girls were saved from child marriage.

The United Nations Children’s Fund also revealed in a 2021 report that 40 per cent of girls in the country were married before they clocked 18 years. The report said the act of forcing girls into marriage with creditors to offset a loan contributed to the rate of child marriage.

Also emphasising the importance of girl-child education, the Country Representative of UNFPA, Ms Ulla Mueller, said in 2022 at an event, “Education is crucial in realising the potential of women and children. As such, we must ensure that every girl has access to quality education that equips her with knowledge and skills.

“Quality education will also enable girls to have the confidence to pursue their ambitions. When women have equal access to education, they are better able to enhance their own lives and contribute to the growth of their communities. Achieving gender equality is not only essential for its social and economic benefits but also because it is the right thing to do.”

Thus, like Jabbi noted, there cannot be female doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals to treat pregnant women, much to the desire of some men in northern Nigeria, when the girl-child is deprived of education.

The poor access to healthcare underscores Nigeria’s high rate of maternal mortality, which is said to be the second-highest in the world. India is said to have the highest. A report by the World Health Organisation revealed that in 2020 alone, 540 women and children died per thousand in Nigeria, while the country accounted for 12 per cent of global maternal and neonatal deaths and stillbirths in the world.

Findings revealed that apart from the low access to proper healthcare, practices like this deprive women of the medical care that could have saved their lives.

Narrating his subjects’ ordeal, the community leader narrated, “Sometimes here in Sokoto, there was this housewife who was about to go into labour and her mother-in-law prevented her from visiting the hospital.

“We did all kinds of advocacy, but the woman refused to allow her go to the hospital. We later took the expectant mother to the hospital after being in labour for about three weeks. After her delivery, unfortunately she needed blood transfusion and the same woman placed a curse on her son if he donated blood to his wife.

“It took several interventions, and it was not until we told her that if she (the pregnant woman) died, she would be held responsible before she allowed her son to donate blood to the wife. We have so many stories related to this but the most important thing is to continue to create awareness to our people on the importance of education to our girl-child.”

On the religious beliefs attached to this, the community leader noted that ignorance and not religion was responsible for the belief that only a female doctor should attend to women in need of medical attention.

He stated, “It is unfortunate that some ignorant persons among our people link their actions to teachings of Islam, which is a lie. Allah never told us to deny our wives what can make them happy or well.

“The ultimate goal of religion is to save lives. Every aspect of human endeavour is there in the Holy Quran, even that of women, from delivery up to adulthood, and how they should be treated. You cannot deny women the right to quality health. It is there in the Holy Quran. People should ask what they don’t know.”

Literature / Delilah (Episode 1) by Storymack: 2:12pm On Aug 07, 2023
At age three, I and my twin sister were almost caught up in flames when our house got burnt. my eldest brother who was cooking got called by his friends to play ball, and without thinking straight he followed leaving the gas on and the noodles he was preparing on fire probably thinking he will be back soon. Despite there was firewood and a stove for him to use, my brother is always bent on using the gas ignoring the warnings of my parents.

I and my sister were asleep and my parents usually don't give him that freedom to play out with his friends, seeing their absence as an opportunity he quickly took it.
I don't know how long he stayed out, but I got chocked and began coughing when the house was covered with flames. my sister woke up also but we could not see, all we did was cough and cry and the fire began to burn.

my father built his house in an undeveloped area where we didn't have lots of people around but was mostly surrounded by bushes.
Then I heard my father calling out my eldest brother name and shaking the door violently, but unknown to him my brother took the key with him so that we won't go out when we wake up. No doubt my brother was very stubborn, but this time around he did too much.

"Daddy! We cried with our small voices as we heard voices outside.
"my children are in there, I can feel it! my father shouted when our neighbors wanted stopping him from running inside.

We didn't know what to do, and I turned and saw my small ball on the floor and I took it and threw it on the window since we could not climb because of how it was built and luckily for us my father saw it.
"Patrick! He shouted keeping his head on the wall.
"Daddy help us, we replied and coughed and my father began hitting the other side of the door.

The fire was burning with great speed, but the love of a father for his children was greater. Our eyes were closing and we passed out, but we woke up in the hospital.
"Patrick! Oh Patrick! my mother shouted and hugged me in bed. I could not say anything to her because I inhaled enough smoke from the house and was very weak.
"How are you? She asked touching my cheeks in tears but I could not reply.

After two days we were getting better, but my father was burnt badly and was in the hospital with us. We had minor burns also but it was not as serious as my father, but despite his burns he was so happy to see us getting better, but as for my brother Frank they didn't want to see him.
They were so mad with his carelessness for burning the house my parents worked hard for and almost killing the children they prayed for 8 good years after they had him.

That incident took us back to be almost poor because the hospital bills were covered by my mother who was a trader, and as for my father, the private organization he worked for laid him off because of his absence from work but they compensated him with some cash.
The compensation was kind of useless to my father knowing he will have to go back for job hunting so he can cater for his family, and without wasting time despite he was not strong enough and could not get a job, he used the compensation money he got to buy a taxi and hit the road.

Our condition was not funny and my parents worked extra hard for us but was very reluctant to forgive my brother Frank. To my father he has only two children despite my mother let go but my father was very hardened as he could not forget the hardship Frank brought upon us.
A Reverend father took Frank away at a point after so much begging and my father was so glad he did so he won't see him anymore, that was how much he hated his own son.

Many years has gone by and we eventually returned back to our house and got it renovated. my parents sent us to an expensive private university after we passed excellently even when they were not still financially buoyant. Seeing the sacrifices of my parents for us, we vowed to make them proud.
Four years later I graduated as an accountant and my sister as an educationist. When we returned home after our service, my parents joy knew no bound. They believed its their time of rest as all parents do think, and after 3 weeks of staying with them we got to know my father will be celebrating his 60th birthday.

I and my sister planned to surprise him so we arranged a small party at home for him. When my mother returned from the market she saw what we planned and smiled,
"You know your father, he won't be happy that you wasted money on his birthday, she said.
'Wasted? Mommy relax, we will soon get a job and money will come, Patricia said.

"But still you can use this money to...... "Mommy don't worry, money will come. Is it a crime that we want to celebrate our father birthday for the first time? Please don't stop us na, I came in touching her on her shoulder and she surrendered.
'Okay o, let me go change up then, my mother said.

"Please do, because there will be fun tonight! Patricia shouted very excited and my mother smiled and got into our room.
When we saw our father at a distance coming, Patricia suddenly initiated a prank we should play on him.

'Oh wrong nau, your father is tired, my mother said when she heard us.
"Mommy you too like this your husband man o, Patricia said.

"Leave my husband for me please, don't go and raise his pressure for nothing just because there's a cake he won't even eat because his diabetic, my mother said and we heaved.
"Don't worry mommy, we will have a job and papa will rest so that he can take care of himself, Patricia said.

"Yes, he won't have to go out every morning again at his age, just give us a little time and you won't work hard anymore, I added and a knock came on our door.

We knew it was our father so we breathed out and got ourselves arranged while Patricia ran in to bring the cake so we can surprise him when he steps in.
my mother opened the door and we screamed a happy birthday and sang for him.
He just laughed and took off his face cap as his wife hugged him while we awwned.

The love my parents have for each other is just rare, and I pray to have such a partner when I am ready to settle down.
"Happy birthday daddy! Patricia said.
"Thank you my dear, my father said and hugged us.

"But you two are not feeling fine, instead of keeping this money so we can use it to buy better food that will last us, you wasted it on sugar, he said and we rolled our eyes.
"Ahhhh daddy even for the first time let us do something different nau, Patricia said.

"Eh I know this is your idea so that you'll eat cake, but I appreciate thank you, my father said as we got in the sitting room and he tiredly sat down.
"Should I get you something to eat? His wife asked.

"No please, I'll just take my bath and a hot one for that matter, he replied and a knock came on the door when Patricia wanted going in to get the boiled water ready.

"Who is it? I asked going to answer the door and when I opened up I saw Frank and the Reverend father outside.
"Brother? Welcome brother, I said very happy he showed up and they walked in.
my mother seeing her son quickly hugged him while I made the Reverend father to sit.
my father didn't say a word but just looked at him and Frank was scared to look at him also.
"I see there's a celebration, the Reverend father said.
"Dad is 60 years today, I replied.

"Happy birthday daddy, Frank slowly said but my father was quiet.
"Happy birthday sir, the Reverend said.

"Thank you, my father slowly replied and Patricia came out from the kitchen and welcomed Frank and I quickly signalled her to put the water down because my father won't be using it now.
"Ermm sir, I know I have been here many years ago when I came to take Frank, He's back now, the father said.

"So finally he's back why? my father asked.
'Sir please I am still begging you, you can't have all good children and those fortunate to have all their children good they don't know what God has done for them. my parents do say God do mix children to give to us, but then we have to forgive whenever they wrong us, the father replied.

"Have you forgotten he turned to rebel against me and even denounced me as his father? I don't think he wants me because he can clearly do without me, besides its even too late, my father said.
"Please ignore his youthful exuberance, that's how ignorant he was. But then he needs his family most especially his parents blessings. His path are closed and I am not surprised, how will God open ways for him when his parents has grudges against him? That's how powerful a father blessings are and he has realized that he was wrong. Please take him back, the father said and Frank slowly went down on his knees.

"Daddy I am sorry. I don't want to recall all the pains I put you through and how I almost killed my siblings then. Even with that I was still stubborn not minding you two were going through a lot already. Please I am asking for your forgiveness. I am not doing this because I want your blessings or any kind of inheritance but i want to come back to my family because I belong here. I've been away for too long thinking I can do without you, I can't still explain the anger i had for my family that was gradually destroying me and that's so stupid of me, please daddy forgive me, Frank said while we quietly watched and my mother stood up from where she sat and knelt down beside him.

Seeing that my father quickly held her up,
"Please, no matter what he has done, lets not forget he was our first fruit of love. Let's not forget how we thanked God for giving him to us then, He's still our son I beg you. for my sake please take him back, my mother said.
"Get up please, why should you kneel to beg me? He asked and turned to Frank.

"I can never say no to my wife for what she has just done. You want to come back to your family huh? Fine but I hope your intentions are pure. Let me believe that you're changed for good, my father said and I smiled.
"Thank you so much daddy, Frank happily said and my mother happily laughed and hugged her husband while we ran and fell on our big brother.

I guess our father 60th birthday reconciled our family and the celebration took another shape.
Patricia was already seen sitting on the laps of Frank listing what he should buy for her as a big brother. It was funny to me when she complained to Frank that I don't buy things for her when I came out first, but I will always claim that we are twins and there's no need for that.

"Is that so? Don't worry big brother is here and we'll go shopping tomorrow, Frank said.
"Yesss!!!! Say that again so that Patrick will hear, Patricia said and I laughed loud.

Ever since Frank left us, I and Patricia became more close than ever before. We do everything together and was so inseparable. You dare not hurt my sister because you'll be facing me, and I never thought a time will come that i will be so against her because of a woman. I never imagined a time will come where I will turn my back on my family and forget all the love and sacrifices of my parents.

Praise GOD

During yesterday's Sunday service, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor E. A. Adeboye spoke on the message captured "Looking Unto Jesus". While delivering his sermon, he narrated a story about one of his sons who gave out his wife to a Herbalist after she became mentally unstable.

According to Pastor E. A. Adeboye from the video (1:29:33): "If you are having financial difficulties, look unto the great Provider. There are testimonies that many will never believe happened. We had a Congress in Akure, we prayed for everybody but when I was leaving, one of my sons stopped me, demanding that I should pray specially for him.

"He was a successful businessman but everything just went wrong. All the machines in his company spoilt and every attempt to repair them failed. So he began to borrow money to feed. He borrowed so much money that it got to a stage where his friends saw him coming, they hide. Things got so bad that the wife went mad. He just gave her out to a herbalist due to the frustration.

"So I told him to stretch font his hands, he did and I placed my hands on his and I prayed a simple prayer. He got home, laid his hands on the machines, they started working. He ran to the herbalist, laid his hands on his wife, she got well. The last time I heard about him, he has been made the Oba of his town. He is wealthy now."

Religion / The Fire You Must Not Play With by Slimstudy(m): 11:28pm On Aug 06, 2023
"Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?"
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?" Proverbs 6:27-28
"And you shall know the truth..." John 8:32

Not too long ago, I asked a colleague if he has ever seen a house on fire. He paused for a while and then shared an experience he had in his estate back in Jos, Plateau state, Nigeria. The owner of the house had gone to work on that fateful day, leaving behind his children who had just come back from school. One thing led to another, and the house was on fire. Expectedly, the children ran out of the building shouting, "Fire! Fire!" crying for help at the same time. Their cry, in no time, drew the attention of the neighbors who came rushing towards the house. As some were pouring buckets of water to extinguish the fire; others were throwing sand over the fire. Some of the concerned neighbors made spirited efforts to see what they could secure from the fire. In no time, the situation had gotten out of hand. The firefighters arrived some hours later, but their intervention could not save the day - the damage was already done. The house owner arrived and looked at the horrible sight staring him in the face with tears streaming down his cheeks. His tears moved others to tears. Years of labor had gone with the fire. Achievement of a lifetime had gone down the drain. Certificates, books, clothes, furniture, to mention a few of the valuables, were irretrievably lost in the inferno. From the look on his face, one could figure out what was going on in his mind. Thoughts of "Where do I start from?" must have crossed his mind. Friends and sympathizers who had heard about the unfortunate incident came together and started discussing how to alleviate his pain. It was a terrible sight indeed! Fire is a good servant. Its importance to human life cannot be over-emphasized. It is something that our continued existence depends on. Imagine a world without fire! But fire is also a bad master.

my goal for writing this article is not to deal at length with the natural fire that we are all familiar with but rather to draw our attention to the fire that is potentially more dangerous than natural fire. It is the fire that the wisest of men talked about in the Book of wisdom. That fire has destroyed much more than natural fire has ever done. No man in his right mind plays with natural fire, but we play with this fire because we don't know that it is fire. We don't play with the natural fire because we know it hurts, but we often play with this fire because we don't know it hurts. What we know can mean the difference between life and death,
success and failure, victory and defeat etc.
You may not understand what King Solomon was talking about when he said, "Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned? Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned" until you read some verses before. King Solomon had been warning young people about the danger associated with sexual immorality. He had told them what is at stake when they indulge in sexual sin. To further drive his point home, he began to speak metaphorically about sexual immorality. He wanted them to understand the full implications of their actions when they indulge in sexual immorality. He wanted them to see the sin through the eyes of God. Solomon was like saying, "Young man, let me lay it on the line. If only you knew what you are playing with. If only you knew what you are going to be in for. That girl you call Baby Doll, Sweetie, Sweetheart, Angel Eyes, Honey Bunny, Cuddle Bug, Babylicious, Bae, etc is actually a fire that will burn you."

Believe it or not, sexual immorality is a consuming fire. It does not matter what you call it. You may call it youthful indiscretion, youthful exuberance, sowing of wild oats, a love affair, a trick of youth, but it is a consuming fire. Indulging in it amounts to playing with fire. It is not your clothes, shoes, furniture that this fire will destroy but rather your reputation, integrity, body, soul, and destiny. This fire has destroyed many homes and marriages. The story is told of a happily married man who cheated on his wife. He was transferred from his Lagos office to Warri (Nigeria) where he got romantically involved with a demon-possessed lady. He lied to this lady that he was still single. To cut the long story short, he got her pregnant and after about 3 years, he was transferred back to Lagos. The lady eventually found out that he was married with three children, but that did not make her budge an inch. She insisted that he must marry her or she will show him who she truly is, but the man waved her threat aside. Shortly thereafter, his life became a chapter of accidents. He lost his wife and his three children in a ghastly car accident, but he survived it with serious injuries. While in the hospital, the lady paid him a visit and said to him, "You have just started." It was at this point that he opened up and confessed to the leadership of his church what had happened between him and the lady. This man spent almost two years in the hospital, lost his job, and today he is yet to get out of that bondage even after a series of prayer and fasting. The fire of sexual immorality destroyed his wife, children, and reduced him to a piece of bread. Little did he know that he would get more than he bargained for when he embarked on the journey of sexual adventure. He dug his own grave and that of his family for a night of fun.

The world says, "What you don't know won't hurt you." Nothing can be further from the truth. What hurts people in life is what they don't know. It has been rightly said that nothing in the world is more dangerous than ignorance. Ignorance is the number one reason the devil has succeeded and is succeeding in getting many young people to jump at the baits of sexual immorality. The devil has kept the truth about sex under lock and key since time immemorial. He knew that the truth about sex will tip the scale in your favor when you are faced with sexual temptation. It is time to wise up to the fact that sex is not all it's cracked up to be. Sex outside the confines of marriage is an albatross around the neck. It is a game that is not worth the candle. Stop believing the lie that having sex is just like any other sin. The Bible says, "Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body" (1 Corinthians 6:18). No other sin directly affects the body like sexual immorality. In the words of Albert Barnes, "It wastes bodily energies; produces feebleness, weakness, and disease; it impairs the strength, enervates the man, and shortens life." King Lemuel's mother warned him: "Do not give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings" (Prov. 31:1-5). Fornication or adultery is a sin that drains men of their mental and bodily strength. Many have sacrificed their future on the altar of sexual immorality. Give it a wide berth so your life can go as it is written of you. Reuben's life did not go as it was written of him on account of this sin (Genesis 49:3, 4). His portion was given to Joseph because he gave in to his sexual appetite. Friend, the price tag of sexual immorality is high.

Be not deceived; sexual immorality will undo God's plan for your life. It will set the stage for the battles generations after you will fight. The men of Israel did not know they were playing with fire when they went after the delectable and enchanting daughters of Moab. In a matter of minutes, that fire consumed 24,000 men (Numbers 25:1-9). King David did not know he was playing with fire when he had it off with Uriah's wife. What was the consequence of his action? Prophet Nathan said to him, "Now therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me, and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife" (2 Samuel By 12:10-11, can you see the generational problem that arises from sex? Samson did not know he was playing with fire when he fell in love with Delilah in the valley of Sorek. Immediately after, he fell in love with her, the Philistines came up to her and said, "Entice him, and find out where his great strength lies, and by what means we may overpower him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and every one of us will give you eleven hundred pieces of silver" (Judges 16:4-5). Little did he know that his sweetheart was a booby trap. Samson ended his journey on a sad note. He died without going the full distance with his divine assignment because he played with the fire of sexual immorality.

The devil knows these truths, and that is why he goes about offering men sex on a platter of gold. He presents the bait but hides the hook. Have you ever wondered why he offered Joseph sex in Potiphar's house? He offered him sex in order to turn his God-given dreams into a mirage. He offered him sex in order to preclude the possibility of him becoming "a man in whom the Spirit of God is" (Genesis 41:38). His place would have been given to another had he overstepped his bounds in the house of his master. Nothing endangers your God-given dreams like sexual immorality. You must avoid it like the plague if you don't want your life to be a warning signal to others. What is at stake when you play with this fire is beyond your wildest imagination. If you play with fire, you are going to get burned.

The good news is that you can break free from the hold of this sin. The blood of Jesus that was shed at the Cross of Calvary is powerful enough to set you free from every form of sexual bondage. All you need to do is accept Jesus as your Savior and Lord. With Jesus in your heart, you can say "No" to the tempter when he comes knocking on the door of your heart. The battle against sexual temptation is either won or lost in the heart. Therefore, keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

Say the following prayer:

Heavenly Father, have mercy on me, a sinner. I believe that Jesus Christ is the son of the living God and that he died on the cross so that I may have forgiveness for my sins and eternal life. I believe in my heart that you, Lord God, raised Him from the dead. Forgive me for every sin I have ever committed and come into my heart as my Savior and Lord today and take full control of my life from this moment on. I pray this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Mark 13:31-37 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the son, but the Father.
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.
for the son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.

Supernatural Restoration after 20 years!
"In 1997, I was dismissed from my place of work. However, my wife brought me to this church, and we began to key into the teachings of Bishop David Oyedepo. During one of the services, the Bishop declared that any faith that makes GOD absolutely responsible is an irresponsible faith; he further emphasized that we must play our parts in order to see GOD'S hand in our affairs, this I did. Then all the doors which had been closed against me miraculously opened up. I was reinstated in the organization I was dismissed 20 years ago with all my accumulated benefits, and salaries from 1997 till date fully paid. To GOD be all the Glory!"--Deacon Isaiah Idije.

Religion / Love And Forgiveness: The Path To Spiritual Growth by Pastoshizzy(m): 9:31am On Aug 05, 2023
Introduction:
Love and forgiveness are powerful virtues that not only shape our relationships with brethren and antagonists alike but also contribute to our spiritual growth in manifesting as a true son of God.

In this article, we will explore the significance of extending love to our enemies, detesting malice, recognizing the spiritual nature of our battles. Ultimately, we will conclude by highlighting the strength of our relationship with God when we embrace these cardinal rules.

1. Why love should be extended to our enemies:
- Love transcends boundaries and transforms hearts, even in the face of enmity.
- The Bible teaches us to love our enemies, as stated in Matthew 5:44: "But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you."
- Jesus demonstrated this love by forgiving those who crucified Him, setting an example for us to follow.

2. Detesting malice:
- Malice, or ill-will, is strongly condemned in the Bible.
- Romans 12:9 affirms our duty to abhor what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
- Holding onto malice hinders our spiritual growth and damages our relationships.

3. Our warfare is spiritual:
- The Bible reminds us that our battles are not merely physical but spiritual in nature.
- Ephesians 6:12 states, "for our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
- Recognizing the spiritual dimension allows us to approach conflicts with love and forgiveness, understanding that our true enemy is not the person, but the spiritual forces behind their actions.

4. Extending love to ourselves:
- Self-love and self-forgiveness are essential for personal growth.
- Jesus taught, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Matthew 22:39). This implies that we must also love and forgive ourselves.
- Embracing self-compassion enables us to extend the same grace to others.

5. Reconciliation and healing:
- Love and forgiveness pave the way for reconciliation and healing in relationships.
- The Bible encourages us to seek reconciliation with others, as seen in Matthew 5:23-24: "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother or sister has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First, go and be reconciled to them; then come and offer your gift."
- Through love and forgiveness, we can restore broken relationships and experience God's healing power.

Conclusion:
When we embrace the cardinal rules of love and forgiveness, we strengthen our relationship with God and experience spiritual growth. By extending love to our enemies, detesting malice, recognizing the spiritual nature of our battles, and embracing self-love and reconciliation, we align ourselves with God's will. In doing so, we cultivate a deeper connection with Him, experience personal growth, and contribute to a more loving and forgiving world.
Religion / How You Can Be Led By The Spirit by ocnovakmichael(m): 12:04am On Aug 05, 2023
Every Man is led by a spirit. It is practically impossible not to be led by a spirit. A man is led either by the spirit of God or an evil spirit. The steps of a man cannot be void of a spirit at any rate.

We are constantly bombarded with myriad of voices around us. To the voice we yield ourselves to follow at anytime is the leading spirit. Just like a car cannot move without premium motor spirit, so man cannot act without a spirit. You may have heard the saying, "The spiritual controls the physical."
Moreover, we must understand that every voice that comes our way significantly influence our lives either positively or negatively. However, the onus is on us to choose whose voice to listen to.
Paul, in his epistles, said it best: "There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification" (1 Corth 14:10). And in another place he said, "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?" (Rm 6:16). In other words, you're either susceptible to the voice of the enemy or susceptible to the voice of God.

The question is: how do you recognize the voice of God from the voice of our adversary?
As there is a correlation between a child's physical growth and spiritual growth. So there is a correlation between a child's physical perception and spiritual perception. Studies from Yale University show that your baby is learning to recognize you through their senses. At birth, they are starting to recognize your voices, faces, and smells to figure out who is taking care of them. Since the maternal voice is audible in utero, an infant starts to recognize their mother's voice from the third trimester.

Let us pick out the vital-salient points from the above research. 1. Babies recognize voices 2. Babies hear while in the womb
The Bible teaches that God knew and had called us while we were yet in the womb. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations" (Jer. 1:5).

The text above just got through saying as it's natural for babies to hear their mothers voice in the womb, to it should be natural for us to hear the voice of God because while we were yet in the womb he'd already appointed or called us to the nations of the world.
Nevertheless, exercising our senses in the word strengthens our spiritual auditory perception to hear and recognize the voice of God even more.
So how do we exercise our senses? Proverbs chapter six verses twenty through twenty-two gives us insight. "my son, keep thy father's commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother: Bind them continually upon thy heart, and tie them about thy neck. When thou goest, it shall lead thee, when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee, and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee."

Notice that text says, "It (the word) shall lead thee and it (the word) shall talk with thee." But we have to meet the annex conditions. That is, we must bind the word in our heart and tie them about our neck. In other words, let the word of God be in our hearts and in our mouths.

Consider for illustration, the word of God teaches us to pray for one another that utterance may be given to speak the word boldly.

Ephesians 6: 18:19
18. Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints
19. And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.

On a certain day I was returning from work; and I boarded a bus. While in the bus, people were chatting and some others were minding their own business. Suddenly, the Spirit of the Lord said to me, the woman in front of you in white apparel is going to preach now. I want you to pray for her that she'd open her mouth boldly to speak the word.
When I heard that, I knew it was the Lord alright, but I hesitated and began arguing in my spirit. saying, how can this woman preach at this odd hour of the day when every one in the bus is minding their business and looking forward to getting home.
Now looking at that woman in front of me, there was no sign she was going to preach. No Bible in her hand, she was even in a position of one who is asleep in the bus. However, the Spirit of the Lord spake to me the second time, this time it was loud that I had to turn to see who said that but found out it was coming from inside of my spirit.
While I was arguing with the Lord, that woman raised up her head and began preaching right inside the, noisy-busy-business minding, bus.
When I alighted off the bus, I ask the Lord to forgive me for arguing with Him.

What am I getting to? I was able to recognize it was the Lord talking with me in that bus because what He told me to do is in line with the word. That is, Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.

Scripture teaches that the Spirit and the Word agree in one. Therefore, we must study the word to know and recognize the voice of the Lord when He speaks! He always speaks!

Religion / For God So Loved The World by ValeeLove(m): 8:17am On Aug 03, 2023
John 3:16 - "for God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life".

This verse here is the crust of our belief as Christians. "Whosoever" refers to everyone, to anyone. To any human created by God on the surface of this Earth my message to you today, tonight - whatever the time you're seeing this - God loves you and he wants to to be saved from the eternal damnation that is coming for all mankind and demons/satan. Sin - created by man - has become a stumbling to the perfect relationship desired by God to man. He saves you with Jesus, same way he saved me. I am his forever and I'm glad I am so.
Come to Jesus NOW (Matt 11:28). Believe in him. Only him can satisfy you.

pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I come to you today as a sinner. I believe you died for me and rose again. I ask that you forgive me of my sins and translate me into the Kingdom of the Father. Today I vow to live by His will in Jesus name. Thank you for saving me.

If you've prayed this prayer, then congratulations,😊 YOU ARE SAVED.🥰 God loves you. Keep growing in Christ Jesus, in Jesus name. Amen.

Religion / Time To Fight Ii by Mogbonjubola55: 11:19pm On Aug 02, 2023
Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Colossians3:5

Anyone that has been in the in the Christian race for some years would have discovered the militant nature of the average Christian. Every true Christian is fully aware of the on-going conflicts around us, physical, mental, and spiritual. We are confronted with contrary doctrines in our daily lives, we face diverse kinds of temptations, we are bombarded with many ungodly ideas and propositions; sometimes it could be vicious attacks from unknown people or aggression from neighbours. In addition to all these, we are constantly faced with attractive and seemingly profitable offers from the pit of hell to lure us into all kinds of sins. The devil is prowling around the world looking for Christians to destroy according to 1 Peter 5:8: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.”

The survival of a child of God therefore depends on his or her preparedness for battle and the ability to fight. We must be ever-ready so that nothing will catch us unawares. We cannot afford to slumber or sleep, we are meant to be spiritual watchmen and scouts, constantly looking out for bands of approaching enemies that may try to take us by surprise. This is why the above passage counsels us to be serious minded and vigilant, carefully monitoring every move of the enemy around us, and to be fully prepared to counter and completely neutralise his evil attacks. However, one of the most dangerous places to be in a conflict situation is at the back. Whenever you see somebody dropping back in a war situation, be sure that the fellow will soon be hit very hard. King David learnt this lesson in a hard way. I pray that you will never backslide into error and be caught in the snare of the devil in Jesus’ name.

In Matthew 16:18, the Lord Jesus declared that the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church. These gates are the access points that the enemy may use to penetrate our lives. To permanently keep these gates shut, Colossians 3:5 counsels us to subdue the flesh and its worldly desires through discipline, and put it under control. If we fail to discipline ourselves, then it becomes easy for pride, sexual immorality, inordinate ambition, covetousness, and other forms of indiscipline to creep into our lives and give opportunity to the devil to butcher us. May the Lord deliver you from every evil plan against your life in Jesus’ name.

Finally, 1st John 3:8b says; “…for this purpose the son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of devil.” This instruction to fight becomes easy to carry out when we realise that Jesus Christ the son of God came to this world for the sole purpose of destroying the works of the devil. I decree that every work of the devil in your life be destroyed now in Jesus’ name.

PRAYER
Father, please help me to stand. Don't let me ever fall for the devil in Jesus name.

GENESIS 2:19

[NKJV]
Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name.

[BSB]
And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and He brought them to the man to see what he would name each one. And whatever the man called each living creature, that was its name.

Though these were done in the beginning, learning from them still applies today. By the grace of the Spirit of God, I promise you five things to learn from this Bible verse above. Viz:

*1* The Name of the man, Adam

*2* The Will of the Man

*3* The Kingdom of the Man

*4* God-Sent Flock to the Man

*5* The Fellowship of God with Man

Well, restructuring my list according to how they appeared in the Bible verse above, I will now briefly substantiate them orderly.

GOD-SENT FLOCK TO THE MAN

I had difficulty in describing them as "God-Sent Messengers" to man, but I find it convenient to describe them as "God-Sent Flock" to man. This is because, though they are sent by God or brought by God to the man, they are not sent to give a message to the man but to receive messages or receive help from the man. They are not sent as helpers to help the man but sent as helpless in need of the man's help. And though they are not messengers like prophets, angels, apostles, or emissaries from God to the man, yet because God is the One who sent or brought them, rejecting them also carries the same weight as rejecting the messengers God sent. In fact, the goats in "Matthew 25" were those who did not receive nor minister to the least of the Lord's brethren, whom He sent or brought for the goats to minister or help them.

A man of God was held accountable by God for some wretched and poor persons whom God sent/brought to him to be discipled by that man of God or at least to be shepherded by him. But the man of God turned them away and did not help them, and as a result, the evil one recruited them, and God lost them because of the negligence or ignorance of the pastor rejecting/ignoring them.

But David did great in this regard. While he was hiding in the cave of Adullam from the king's death messengers after him. "And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men" [1 Samuel 22:2]

That was in David's occasion, but in Adam's occasion (being the first man before David to have done greatly well in this regard), those whom God brought to Adam were disconnected, nameless, lacking identity, or in need of the man's help, even when the man himself was in dire need of a helper. All the living creatures of the ground that God made and brought to Adam were to be disciples for him or to be helped by him, even though Adam needed help himself. It's like a man who is desperately in need of secondary needs, but people in need of primary needs, who are in a worse condition than him, came to him, not to solve his need but for him to meet their need.

So Adam was trusting God for a suitable helper or for a wife, which God promised, or David was trusting God for the kingdom, which his anointing promised. But instead of the promised wife (helper) or kingship coming immediately, God sent a flock, or the needy ones came to Adam and to David in a more pressing emergency or needs.

THE NAME OF THE MAN, ADAM

Many of us only see the top Bible verse above for Adam naming the animals, but hardly see the same Bible verse above as the first time the name or word "Adam" appeared in the Bible (though not all Bible translations picked up "Adam" for others continued to use "the man" instead of "Adam"wink.

my point is, before God would have the man give names to others, God first gave the man a name, "Adam." You don't give what you don't have. Should the man who has no name be giving names to others in God's calling? So behold the man's naming with "Adam."

[Genesis 5:2 AMPC] — He created them male and female and blessed them and named them [both] Adam [Man] at the time they were created.

THE WILL OF THE MAN

In the top Bible verse above, God brought them to Adam (the man) to see what the man would call or name them. Why was God yet to see what the man would name them, when God has already seen or known everything past, present and future?

It was a clear occasion of God waiting or awaiting the "Will of Man" and not the usual occasion of man awaiting the Will of God to be done. God the Creator and Maker of those living creatures, brought them in subjection to the Will of Man, and God was curious "to see" not just "to hear" what the Will of the Man was in naming or assigning identities, references and numbers to His Creatures on earth. So both "Will of God" and "Will of the Man" were done in the establishment of the ground sourced creatures.

THE KINGDOM OF THE MAN

In the top Bible verse above, whatever the man called or named any living creature was its name permanently. God did not alter or disagree with "Whatever" the man's will called any of the earthly creatures God Himself made. This meant the man was King over the earthly creatures even in the Kingdom or Presence of God.

Usually, no man decrees a thing, and it comes to pass without God commanding it. And though there was no history of God upturning or overthrowing whatever the man (Adam) said or did before then, the man (who was never a son of man) did something that had eternal or everlasting durance.

When Joshua commanded the sun to stand still, and God listened and made the sun stood still, it was recorded as uncommonly for God to listen to the voice of a man like in that day as it is written:

[Joshua 10:14] — "And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the LORD listened to the voice of a man: for the LORD fought for Israel."

Has God not been listening to the prayers of a man? What is the difference between God listening to a man's prayer and listening to a man's voice in that day or manner? The difference lies in the Will of God. When men pray according to the Will of God, God hears them because the man's will aligns with God's will. However, in the case of Joshua commanding the sun to stand still, it was not God's Will that endorsed the man's will, and yet God listened to the man without the protocol of God's Will or Ordinances being consulted.

Similarly, that was how it was when Adam named the living creatures according to his own will, and he had the final say or judgment over their names, while God, their Creator, simply observed or upheld the decisions made by Adam.

The FELLOWSHIP OF GOD WITH MAN

Essence of all these was for God to fulfill the fellowship of God with men, Immanuel. It's a Fellowship that seeks to have God doing all things through or with men, when God could have done all things without men. He can do all things without us, but for the fellowship or Immanuel He will do all things with us. In "Genesis 1" God did all things without man, but in "Genesis 2" God did all things with the man.

Is there any thing God did in "Genesis 2" that the man was not involved in contributing to or in what God did or made thereafter? After doing them, God either brought the man to them or brought them to the man — this was the basic summary of 'Genesis 2' in one sentence of 16 words. Fellowship is Sharing.

If I were to ask the question how many of us know Christ loves us?
No matter what sin or sickness you are going through he loves you and died for you.

God is just, for our sins we deserved death, but because of his love jesus took that position and died for our sins a debt he did not owe and one we could not pay. He took with him all our sin, sickness and diseases and made us righteous.

Don't let the evil one deceive you or tell you you are too sinful, no matter what sin you are a slave to jesus delivered you from it and you will be free the moment you believe you are free "for whom the son sets free who is free indeed".

You shouldn't suffer or be a slave to something he has delivered us from through his death. "on that cross he took away all our sins and all our illnesses" and left them there"..

And with this simple prayer "Jesus, God help me I believe" and believe his words are true and everything else is a lie.

* If God said you are free from sin you are free from it. You can stop it and overcome.
*If he also said you are free from illness you are free from it. You are well indeed.
"for he was wounded for our transgressions, bruised for our iniquities and upon him was the chastisement for our peace by his stripes we are healed".

Don't let the evil one decieve you, don't let him make you feel you are too sinful or unworthy of his love for him to save you. "No word from God ever fails" so if God said "I know the thoughts I have towards you, thoughts of good and not of evil to bring you to an expected end" if he also said "Never would I leave you nor forsake you" don't give room for doubt he still and would ever love you.

Don't be decieved, God doesn't afflict, or place any illness on a person no witch or wizard or demon or angel or human is bigger or stronger than God or can keep you from the love he has for you. " God forbid ".
God's words are eternal and they don't go back to him without accomplishing what they were spoken for. But you need to believe it, believe that his words and only his words are true regardless of what your mortal eyes perceive. That's his universal law faith, "for if we were saved through our simple faith in Jesus how much more would he give us all things if we believe in him".

pray with me just this simple prayer with faith - " Jesus I believe you died for my sins, by your stripes i am healed. I am free by your blood.I can't do this by myself, God help me". Amen

Romance / Opinion: Having A Bad Attitude In A Relationship by eddie7: 7:04am On Jul 29, 2023
Having a Bad Attitude in a Relationship

It's better to be single and find peace within yourself than to be in a relationship with someone who has a bad attitude. Wait for the right time appointed by God.

If you are giving your all to someone and it's not enough for them, you are giving your best to the wrong person. Be cautious.

for Men:
If you are cheating, you are losing more than you think. You may believe you are winning the game, but you are actually losing. You may be able to deceive some women, but you cannot fool your Creator. You will face the consequences of your actions, so it's time to change and grow. Juggling multiple women does not make you a man. Being honest, loyal, and faithful to just one woman does! You cannot marry or sleep with every woman you encounter. There will always be beautiful women around, but you need to learn self-discipline and control. Choose one and make her your priority. It will save you from financial troubles, wasted time, unnecessary drama, and diseases. Also, there is no prize for having numerous sexual partners. Instead, you are hindering your own blessings and shortening your life. Please change your ways.

for Ladies:
Please refrain from seeking attention and publicity by posting revealing photos on social media. Wearing skimpy dresses, with your breasts hanging out and your bottom exposed, may attract a lot of attention and likes from men. However, a real man would never marry a woman who dresses immodestly and lacks self-respect. Remember, your choice of clothing speaks volumes about your character.

Remember, anything precious is always hidden and covered, like gold. Love and treasure your body. Exposing your unclothedness to the world only diminishes your value. Please change your ways.

Lastly, it is crucial that we put an end to the wrong attitudes and behaviors.

for Men:
Treat your woman in the same way you would want another man to treat your mother or daughter.

for Women:
Treat your man in the same way you would want another woman to treat your father or son.

Let's do the right thing, and God will guide us. I pray that any negative declarations working against your chance of getting married and having children are canceled now, in the name of God. Even if it seems impossible, God assures you that you will still find love and have a family, in the name of God.

Ukodhiko as Urhobonation Over Charles Obule’s Death

By Ajiri-Oghene Joseph Oreh

Member representing Isoko Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jonathan Ajirioghene Ukodhiko has condoled the Obule family of Sapele and the people of Urhobonation on the death of legal luminary, businessmogul and politician, Chief Charles Obule.

Obule, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State, reportedly died on Tuesday after a brief illness.

In a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, Ukodhiko expressed shock over Obule’s death, describing it as irreparable loss not only to his immediate family, the Urhobonation but Delta at large.

He stated that, “the late Charles Obule was a versatile lawyer, prominent businessman and astute investor and a notable politician who commendably combined a Pan-Deltan disposition and an Urhobo patriotism.

“He was a humanist who epitomized humility and compassion. Chief Obule had a pedigree for service, and he was committed to the development of the Urhobo ethnic nationality of Delta State.”

The Isoko federal lawmaker recalled the late Chief Obule’s generous contributions to the Urhobo Unity Hall at Uvwiamuge-Agbarho in 2007, the Mosogar Civic Centre, and several other projects and programmes of the Urhobo.

“He was a kind and generous giver who used his Obule Group of Schools, and Medical Centre to subsidize education, healthcare delivery, and other services to the people of Sapele and the Urhobonation.

“On behalf of the people of Isoko Federal Constituency, I commiserate with the Obule family of Sapele and the entire Urhobonation on the demise of their illustrious son, Olorogun (Barr.) Charles Ufuoma Obule, the Erhi of Okpe Kingdom.

“As Deltans, particularly we the people of Isokonation, are proud of Olorogun Charles Obule’s phenomenal achievements in business, law, health, education, politics, and we appreciate his philanthropic gestures.

“Chief Obule was a pragmatic leader of our party, the PDP in State, and we recognize his immeasurable contributions to the unity, advancement, and victories of the PDP in Sapele Local Government Area.

“I want you all to take solace in the fact that Olorogun Charles Obule lived a life of service and dedication. And it is our prayer God comforts and grant you all the courage to bear the loss even as we pray for the repose of his soul.” Ukodhiko added

Health / Foreign Trained Doctors: MDCN Is A Problem For Nigeria. by mushroomFarm: 2:25pm On Jul 24, 2023
THE NARRATIVES BELOW SAYS IT ALL!!

* There is a perceived huge descrimination for foreign trained doctors.
* Note that all foreign trained doctors are licensed to practice in the country they studied! This is part of the requirements to actually sit for this MDCN assessment exam. I will quote the law below

Foreign medical graduates must sit for and pass the MDCN Assessment Examination to be eligible to practice in Nigeria. Foreign medical graduates must show evidence from the health regulatory bodies of the countries where they were trained that they are qualified to be registered and could have practiced in those countries if they had wanted to do so.

.
.
WHEN OUR LEADERS HAVE AS LITTLE AS AN EAR INFECTION, THEY RUSH ABROAD. IF THE NIGERIAN DOCTORS ARE SO GOOD WHY DO THEY HAVE TO RUSH BUHARI'S son TO A FOREIGN COUNTRY??
.
.
IN RESEARCH AND TRAINING AND RANKING, NO UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA COMES CLOSE TO my MEDICAL COLLEGE IN RUSSIA CURRENTLY SITTING AT A GLOBAL RANK OF 72. BUT YOU WANT ME TO BELIEVE FOREIGN TRAINED DOCTORS FROM THIS HIGH RANKING SCHOOLS FAILED AN INCONSISTENT EXAM ORGANIZED BY DOCTORS WHO STRIKE EVERY OTHER DAY, GROSSLY INCOMPETENT BASED ON THEIR OWN PATIENTS' REPORTS AND HAVE NO SUBSTANTIAL GLOBALLY RECOGNIZED MEDICAL RESEARCH AND RESEARCH PROGRAMS.
.
.
.
.
YOU WANT US TO BELIEVE THE NARRATIVE THAT YOU HAVE A SUPERIOR MEDICAL ACADEMIC SYSTEM SUCH THAT A US/UK LICENSED DOCTOR FAILED YOUR EXAM? THE SAME PEOPLE THAT MAKES YOUR VACCINE, FEEDS YOU WITH UPDATES IN THE MEDICAL WORLD, ADVICES YOU ABOUT PLAUSIBILITY OF YOUR CURRICULUM IN MODERN TIMES, ETC.
.
.
.
.
These people are the joke of the century. You invite our foreign lecturers to teach you and assist you with modern surgeries all the time but you think the students you trained are better than us? The same nonentities that have turned themselves to demigods in the Nigerian academic system, I still remember how a final year medical student in one of the federal unversities in the middle belt was withdrawn to 200 level microbiology that year!

Another FTD I chatted with online, simply said, “I think they misunderstood the word “competent”. All through my medical career abroad (yes, I am a licensed doctor elsewhere!) I have never seen the ‘pinnard’ stethoscope physically. I only saw a picture of it in my textbook, I think second year med school? I mean whoever use that! I have my own Doppler. It is battery operated, so you can't say you got electricity problems. If you say I am incompetent because I cannot use your pinnard thing, then you got to have your head examined

Statements credited to Dr. Sanusi in News dailies has shown he has some form of prejudice with foreign trained doctors and has not hesitated to verbalize same at every given opportunity. [/b]According to him, “Nigerian medical schools teach clinical medicine and clinical dentistry, but elsewhere they teach diagnostic medicine. They train Nigerians for export purposes only,” (Tribune).

[b]With regards to the statement credited to Dr. Sanusi that Nigerian doctors trained abroad were trained for export purposes, one couldn't help but wonder where he gets these ideas from. Most of these doctors I have verified myself, are trained in the U.K., Canada, US etc. and are duly licensed thereafter.

.
.
Now let’s shift our focus a bit to look at what Nigerians feel: feed back from Nigerians has never had it that foreign trained doctors are the reason for our failing health system. I haven't read yet of an incidence resulting in gross mortality or deformity due to a foreign trained doctor’s incompetency. for one, medicine is an art and most skills are learned in the field of practice. Wether you are trained in Nigeria or overseas, you still have a lot to learn.

Judasmedia:
my Thoughts: Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) verse Foreign Trained Doctors (FTD) By Faith Obianuju

I have read with growing interest the series of events that followed the recently conducted MDCN assessment examination in University of Illorin Teaching Hospital. Of 680 candidates only 243 were said to have passed the assessment test. That is 35% overall. The doctors reacted and called on Nigerians to look into their plight. Well, the last time I checked, I was still a Nigerian. So I looked into their plight and below are my findings.

The exams as I have found out has a lot of inconsistencies and in the most case was poorly organized. First was the rather unnecessary increment in the examination fee from N76,200 to N131,000. Second was the fact that there was a grand design from the onset regarding who those, “who must pass”, those who “may pass” and “others”. The class captain and his assistants made the first list. Other group of candidates who made the “must pass” list, where those whom the registrar himself called to see him during his short session with the class on the 6th of November, 2017. The names of these students were publicly mentioned by him. He had a brief meeting with them and voila! They passed! I listened to the recorded meeting and confirmed it myself! Also in this list are names of those whose parents are renowned in politics and/or elsewhere.

Under the category of “those who may pass” was a list circulating at the onset for a particular group of students meeting particular requirements, some paid anything between N300k to N500k. Well, according to verified reports these group of candidates also passed.

“Others” are further classified into:

Those that made moves and
Those that studied.

Those that made moves mostly didn't go far in their moves as all efforts to get leakages were successful however, the timely change of uploaded questions dashed their hopes. Report also has it that some of them were swindled by University of Illorin Medical Students with one, Toba, a 500L or 600L student tagged as the leader and orchestrator of the fraud group. The GTBank account of his girlfriend Uddi Nora was used as a tool in their nefarious scheme. They made over N3M from their victims.

Those that studied didn't have pleasant stories either. This is because after changing the questions at the last minute, the new questions were found to be outside the coverage of the lectures. Even at that, according to verified sources, 91% of candidates passed the multiple choice questions which was computer based. “It doesn't matter where the questions were taken from as long as it is medicine, we are fine,” one on the foreign trained doctors wrote in their WhatsApp group, “Movement for Justice”, “my only concern is why then was there a need to have a remedial with a compulsory 70% attendance? We could as well have stayed at our respective abodes and study, then show for the exams!”

On the day of their Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), most candidates confirmed that the coordinator for the remedial courses informed them that the passing score for the CBT was reassuring and that over 90% passed. However, events observed during the OSCE created a tinge of fear in the hearts of the candidates as the examiners appeared to be too distracted, exhausted or just uninterested. One candidate said, “While I was examining the precordium of the simulator, the examiner answered a phone call! I was stupefied!” Another said, “my own examiner appeared to have a lot of things on his mind. He was restless, and for some reason the candy that was given to prevent hypoglycemia held his attention for the better part of the time I took examining the simulator. At a point he stood up to charge his cell phone!”

After the examination, the candidates went home to pray in hopeful anticipation. At about 2pm on Saturday, the results were published on the MDCN website and 437 hearts were broken. Only 243 candidates made it representing 35% of the entire class. Reliable sources revealed that 500 names were submitted to the acting registrar by the UITH coordinator however only 243 were published, making the candidates wonder if there was a possibility of a second pass list. If we are to minus the “must pass” and “may pass” group the list of honorable candidates who passed the exams could have been anything between 100 to 150. And true to that, as at the time of writing my thoughts, information filtered through the rumor mills that only 148 initially scaled through after whatever vetting the MDCN did to the 500 submitted names. Either ways, in advanced countries when less than 40% fails an exam, the fault is with the students, but when more than 40% fails the exam, the teachers and examiners are questioned because either the teachers did not lecture well, or the examination was above the level of the candidates. Hence, countries like US, Australia, UK, etc use standardized questions. Presently, UITH refers worried candidates to MDCN while upon getting to the MDCN office in Abuja, they are referred right back to UITH!

From what many candidates have reported, the new failing trend commenced after the acting registrar Dr. Tajudeen Sanusi took office last November, 2017. It would appear that the MDCN number one has not been debriefed by his predecessor, Dr. Ibrahim regarding the purpose for the assessment. Statements credited to Dr. Sanusi in News dailies has shown he has some form of prejudice with foreign trained doctors and has not hesitated to verbalize same at every given opportunity. According to him, “Nigerian medical schools teach clinical medicine and clinical dentistry, but elsewhere they teach diagnostic medicine. They train Nigerians for export purposes only,” (Tribune). Well, as pleasant as that sounds to the ears, let us not quickly forget that Ghana, Sudan and Egypt are becoming a cynosure of attraction to foreign students. Same cannot be said of Nigeria. Our President also went to U.K. to diagnose and treat an ear infection. We are trying to be self reliant, but we are in a fragile glass house, it is not wise to start throwing stones. As a matter of fact, a good number of medical schools in Nigeria has not made it to the list of World Health Organization accredited schools. A special report by the Daily Trust Newspaper, not so long ago, also presented the number of colleges of medicine in the six geopolitical zones vis-a-vis the number of applicants as summarized thus:

South West: 12 Colleges, 34938 applicants, 910 slots available
South South: 9 Colleges, 35828 applicants, 760 slots available
South East: 9 Colleges, 25103 applicants, 590 slots available
North Central: 5 Colleges, 21992 applicants, 400 slots available
North West: 4 Colleges, 25062 applicants, 330 slots available
North East: 3 Colleges, 9970 applicants, 265 slots available
FCT: 2 Colleges, 3320 applicants, zero slot available.

With the above set up, one wonders if Dr. Sanusi’s claims are grounded on facts or mere assumptions. In a fragile discussion as this one, caution should be considered when selecting words to express oneself. And Dr. Sanusi should know better.

With regards to the statement credited to Dr. Sanusi that Nigerian doctors trained abroad were trained for export purposes, one couldn't help but wonder where he gets these ideas from. Most of these doctors I have verified myself, are trained in the U.K., Canada, US etc. and are duly licensed thereafter. That the love for country brought them back to Nigeria should cause them to be celebrated and not castigated. In fact, Prof. Adedoyin, the coordinator for the remedial course was heard on tape saying his son, currently schooling in a Nigerian Medical college has plans for the USMLE already! A simple search on the internet reveals startling headlines! 80% Nigerian doctors seek jobs abroad (Vanguard Newspaper August, 2017); Crisis looms as 50,000 out of 87,000 registered Nigerian doctors are unaccounted for (Business Day Newspaper, Mar. 12, 2017); Over 40,000 out of 75, 000 Registered Nigerian Doctors are Practising Abroad - NMA Raises Alarm (deereporters.com; Nov. 17, 2017); 700 medical doctors leave Nigeria annually - MDCAN (Daily Post Nigeria; 2017/10/03); ALERT! 2,500 doctors WILL leave Nigeria between August and September (www.icirnigeria.org). The list continues. So one question Dr. Sanusi must answer…who are training doctors for export purposes? Your guess is as good as mine!

Let us proceed. Based on the supra mentioned, it is apparent that the one focus of Dr. Sanusi’s tenure so far has been the foreign trained doctors. In the light of this, two exams he has overseen has had catastrophic outcomes, making one wonder what could be the reason for this change. Under the watch of the past registrar, Dr. Ibrahim, many candidates passed the exams and are doing well, and now under the watch of Dr. Sanusi, the reverse has become the case. So something must be amiss between the approach of Dr. Ibrahim and that of Dr. Sanusi. What could that be? Who among these two is incompetent? Although, not a good argument, one can't be blamed if the mind concentrates on the fact that while Dr. Ibrahim is a medical doctor, his counter part is a dentist. Could this factor in? I leave that question open for further thoughts.

In fact, a collaboration between the Nigerian trained and the foreign trained would do our citizens more good than harm. The MDCN requirements for foreign trained doctors are already steep enough. First, School must be on the accredited WHO list, secondly, they must be verified by ECFMG/EPIC, the same body that verifies credentials of those applying to sit for the USMLE. And this cost a minimum of $240! If a foreign trained doctor can meet with these requirements, then there is no need making examination criteria stiff for them. The rules should be straight. A set average should be used, instead of saying, “since many passed OSCE but failed MCQ, let us use MCQ as a basis.” As was seen in LUTH last April, 2017 or “Since most candidates passed MCQ but failed OSCE, let’s use OSCE as a basis.” As was now seen in UITH center this November, 2017. Another candidate express the entire situation as, “under Sanusi’s tenure, consider yourself failed until proven otherwise. The way he is going, it is quite obvious he ain't going to pass more than thirty to forty percent of foreign trained doctors per exam. They are going to frustrate us man, delete the phrase ‘no place like home’ from our medulla and replace it with ‘any place but home’…he is got evil plans up his sleeve man.”

Another candidate, who attempted the exams in both LUTH and UITH said, “honestly, this has caused me serious shifting dullness. What do they really want from us? A passing rate of 50% overall or what? Prof. Adedoyin told us that in the MCQ, which has questions that were not covered in the remedial lectures, we had a 91% pass rate! Highest score was 90% and class average was 58%! The OSCE was not as good because of mostly human factors on the aspect of the examiners, not to mention the obscure marking scheme. But if an average of 50% was followed then the 500 candidates who made the original list would reflect the results more appropriately!”

The November examination has proven to be too big a blow for the young professionals as they have decided to reach out to Nigerians to seek for help. Sadly, majority of responders are Nigerian medical students, House Officers and registrars, most of which are riled with hate speeches as I have seen from screen grabs made available at my disposal. It would appear, honestly, that the wave of targeted hate speeches against these Foreign trained Nigerian doctors has spread far and wide among their supposed professional colleagues. With one doctor who claimed to have played supervisory role with them describing them as, “borderline incompetent”. Another exclaimed, “why are they coming back to Nigeria? Why not practice in the country where you trained?” Reacting to the same thread on Facebook, a foreign trained doctor said, “it is expected. 99.9% of those making those hate speeches wish they had the opportunities we have. Heck! The son of the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), Prof Rasheed graduated from University of Aberdeen. That in itself speaks volume!” Another FTD I chatted with online, simply said, “I think they misunderstood the word “competent”. If you say I am incompetent because I cannot use your pinnard thing, then you got to have your head examined. I have seen the diagnostic kit of the medical students, and house officers, I have never seen anything so incomplete. Medicine has evolved. We can learn from them and they can learn from us and the benefit will be on them, really,” She went ahead to add, “That someone keeps mute, humbles herself to learn a thing or two should not be misconstrued as incompetent. No one came here to compete with anyone else. If you really want to know what incompetency truly is, ask the patients. They are at the receiving end of whatever skills we got. Ask them…then you will know who between us and them is incompetent.”

The foreign trained doctors have now formed an association to enable them fight what they perceive as ‘discrimination against foreign trained doctors in Nigeria’. Series of interviews have been granted to news media, and letters have been written to senators. Their parents are also picking interest in their plight. Regardless of what anyone might think, we all know the situation of health care in Nigeria, and we do know the problem is not with foreign trained doctors. The sooner we realize the value of what we have, the better for all of us.

Recently, it was revealed that the Vice President Yemi Osibanjo has received a group of expatriates, mostly from India with a view of establishing partnership projects that would promote medical tourism in Nigeria. Worthy of note here, is that some of the foreign trained doctors also schooled in India. These doctors are already contemplating practicing elsewhere. Let us make a stitch in time to save nine.

Politics / 4 Governors, Wike, Attend Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem Son’s Memorial by Penguin2: 11:08am On Jul 23, 2023
And the big question is, is this proper?

And what were they doing there?

Did they even attend the boy’s burial?

Why attend his memorial?
No fewer than four governors yesterday attended the memorial service organised by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, for her son, Parker Shepnaan Dongban who passed on last year.

Some of the governors who attended the event held at Demshin in Plateau State still have cases at the election petitions courts where the Appeal Court President would have a major role to play.

However, there was no evidence that the Appeal Court president invited the governors to the event.

According to analysts, the governors might have attended the event in a typical Nigerian gesture, and perhaps, to curry favour.

Speaking at the service held at St. Peters Clever Church, Demshin in Plateau State, the Governor of Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, who said he was speaking on behalf of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), sympathised with Justice Dongban-Mensem, saying the governors identified with the family at the memorial service.

He said though the loss was painful, the governors recognised the impact made to humanity by the late Parker Shepnaan Dongban within the short period of his sojourn on earth, adding that his goodwill would be greatly missed.

He said: “Even though we remember our son today, we acknowledge that he lived an impactful life.”

Also speaking, the Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Caleb Mutfwang, who sympathised with the bereaved family, prayed to God to continue to comfort them.

He noted that no one can feel what the family has gone through since the untimely demise of the Parker.

He said: “There isn’t much to say on an occasion like this other than to say, may the good Lord continue to comfort you and the family because there is nothing we can do and the only thing is to pray for you.

“Even though one year has passed and we know you have enjoyed the comfort of the Lord, may you continue to enjoy the comfort of the Lord all the way. We will continue to pray that God will teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.”

Also at the memorial service were Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia; his Ogun State counterpart, Dapo Abiodun; former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Jonah Jang, and former Governor of Rivers State, Mr. Nyesom Wike.

In his message, the Bishop of Shendam Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Philip Dung admonished the congregation and also prayed for the repose of the soul of Parker.

He asked God to continue to comfort the family.

He appealed to the Nigerian leaders not to abandon the people, particularly those in rural communities who voted them into power but to come up with programmes and actions that would cushion the effects of the present hardships being experienced in the country.

Bishop Dung drew the attention of governments at various levels to the lack of social amenities such as drinking water, roads, schools, and hospitals in most communities and called for urgent steps to be taken to give the people a sense of hope and belonging.

He applauded the President of the Court of Appeal for her investments in education which, he said, has enabled the less-privileged children to have access to schooling.

As part of the event, a Multipurpose Hall built at Ngoottuguut in memory of Parker was commissioned by the Director General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Bashir Jamoh alongside Mutfwang, and other dignitaries.

GOD is Omnipotent, the All-powerful One with unlimited power and authority. He is not only powerful, but He is Power. The Psalmist says, "God has spoken once, Twice I have heard this: That (all) power belongs to God." (Psalms 62:11).

However, God is not only Power, but God is also Love. God is not only all powerful, but He is also Love. Bible says "....God is love; and he that dwell in love dwelleth in God" (1 John 4:16). In fact, from scriptures, it appears God feels more comfortable aligning Himself with His Love dimension than His power dimension. He makes me realise that LOVE IS SWEETER THAN POWER.

A proof of His abundant love revolves around His sweet mercies. This was what prompted Him to keep pursuing after rebellious mankind. He is the All-powerful One who meekly keeps knocking at the door of the hearts of humans, wanting to have a formidable relationship with us. This is despite the fact that He can do without us, since He is all sufficient. A good explanation to this is this: LOVE IS SWEETER THAN POWER.

God loves you vehemently and He desires an intimate relationship with you to help you fulfil your destiny. It is your destiny to have an intimate righteous relationship with God that is eternal in nature through Jesus Christ. Then you will be empowered with the Holy Spirit to have dominion over creation, and you won't be a slave to anything - including poverty, sickness, satan, hell, sin, curses, etc.

While you have the power of self will, to live your life the way you like and turn against the way of the LORD, please, choose Love today, because it is sweeter. And you see, the law of love goes thus: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' - Jesus (Matthew 22:37‭-‬39)

If we all can embrace God's kind of love, our world will experience heaven on earth.

How can all these become realistic?
The bible says: "for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16

Hence, the first step is to embrace Jesus as your LORD and SAVIOUR. You must be determined to forsake anything sinful, and simply pray:

"LORD JESUS, I believe in my heart that You died for me and You raised on the third day for my justification. And so I confess with my mouth that You are my Lord and Savior. From today, I belong to the family of God. Thank You for giving me eternal life."

Eternal life resides in you, and it compells you to love God's way. God bless you.

Politics / SEN UBAH: Key Achievement In The 9th Senate &Continuity Of Astute Representation by ChumzyOma(f): 12:53pm On Jul 22, 2023
IFEANYI UBAH (THE PRINCE OF THE 9TH SENATE), HAS HIT THE GROUND RUNNING.

Just as he did in the previous assembly which earned him the name; Prince of the 9th Senate, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah has hit the ground running to deliver effective representation and dividends of democracy to his nation, his region, his state, and senatorial district.

A quick flashback on a few key achievements from his capacity-laden representation during the 9th Senate goes like this:

for the Nation;

▪︎ Senator Ubah delivered over 800 billion naira inflow annually to the coffers of the country through his critical Bill that was signed into law by the former president on his sick bed in London.

for the Region;

▪︎ Senator Ubah moved a motion and also physically intervened to bring down the exorbitant freight charges by container handling companies like Maersk Line and Co, following the outcry by our Igbo brothers that are into freight forwarding and importation.

▪︎ He also intervened and has continued to intervene in seeking political solutions to the incarceration of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the resultant insecurity in the Southeast.

▪︎ He also facilitated the return of many of our Igbo brothers who were stranded abroad.

for the State;

▪︎ At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Ubah organised his friends and built state-of-the-art hospitals with ambulances, which he donated in the three Senatorial Districts of Anambra State.

for Anambra South Senatorial District;

▪︎ Senator Ubah broke records and delivered at least one project in each of the 119 wards that comprise the zone.
He facilitated jobs, zero-interest loans, and scholarships and empowered so many people.
The feedback from the grassroots was massive.
It was love.
They call him The People’s General.

Little wonder, Ndi Anambra South Senatorial District resisted the tsunami that swept through the state in the last election, and massively endorsed and supported their son, in whom they are well pleased, to a landslide win. He was alone in this feat as other Senatorial Districts in the State fell to the Labour tsunami.

Indeed, when the selfless is in power, the people truly rejoice.

The time has come to take
Anambra South Senatorial District to the next level.

pray for Ikemba Ndi Igbo in the 10th Senate.
