I applied for study permit from inside canada it has been approved however
My husband is in Nigeria and I applied for his Visit visa on the new portal since April not a single word from IRCC.
Now I dont know what to do
Based on my study permit that has just been approved can I apply for work permit for him on the old portal creating a new profile or I do it on my own profile.

Hello, the processing time for sowp from Nigeria is 57weeks, however recent trends shows that it takes about 3-6months (approximately 12- 24 weeks) especially for this 2022 applications. Stay positive!

I don't think your being inside Canada implies that your application is being submitted from inside Canada. It would've been so if your wife is in Canada already, for instance, on a visit visa. But since she's still in Nigeria and will do her biometrics and medical in Nigeria, the application statutorily falls under "Outside Canada" submission.

Note that this is just what I think; IRCC might say otherwise, dunno.

Best Countries for Spouse Visa

Canada
Your spouse can travel with you to Canada. If he/she has the necessary permits, they can even work full-time thanks to the Canada Dependent Visa. You can sponsor your spouse (married or unmarried in Canada) while you’re studying there. The spouse you sponsor will reside in Canada with you.

Your spouse will have to apply for a work permit to work in Canada. With the work permit, He/she is free to work anywhere in Canada without a labour market impact assessment. You will need to meet specific standards in order to obtain a Canadian student-dependent visa for your spouse. The work permit will often be valid for the same amount of time as the student visa.

The dependent visa category, commonly known as the Canada spouse visa category, covers numerous sub-categories such as the spouse dependent work permit for Canada, spouse immigration for Canada, etc. When applying for a Canada spousal work permit, the waiting period for dependent visas is roughly 60 to 90 days, and when applying for spousal immigration to Canada, the waiting period is approximately 10 to 12 months.

The United Kingdom

You’re enrolled in graduate-level coursework.
Your full-time degree program lasts at least nine months to finish.
You’re enrolled in a study program that lasts at least six months and is supported by the UK government or another foreign government.
You possess a visa under the Doctorate Extension Scheme and are a recent PhD graduate.
Keep in mind that you cannot apply to bring a family member to a study abroad program if you are pursuing an Advanced Diploma.
If your spouse is applying independently of you at a different time, they simply need to show they can support themselves. These funds must be with you or your spouse for at least 28 days in a row. The conclusion of the 28-day window must be 31 days or less after your spouse submits their visa application.

If you are studying on a loan, you must present documentation from your loan or sponsorship company. You must demonstrate that you have the funds to support your partner if your loan does not cover their support.

Canadian visa officers will consider study permit applications which include accompanying family members, but including family members on a study permit application may influence the visa officer’s decision.

Canadian study permits are temporary resident permits, meaning that the holder of a study permit must satisfy the visa officer that they will leave Canada when their permit expires. In some cases, if a student requests to bring their whole family with them to Canada, the visa officer might suspect that the student doesn’t really have the intention to leave Canada after their study program. This can affect the visa officer’s decision on whether or not to issue the study permit.

All study permit applicants are asked to submit a statement explaining why they want to pursue education in Canada. The applicant may use this section of the application to explain why they wish to have their spouse and/or children accompany them to Canada. The final decision on study permit approval is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Please note that it is possible for a person to apply for a study permit without their family members, but to later submit an amended application requesting authorization for family members to join them in Canada.

However, applying to amend an application in this way can result in misrepresentation, including a five year ban from Canada, if the applicant does not follow the correct procedures. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient financial resources to support themselves during their first year of study. Those who wish for their family members to accompany should be prepared to demonstrate additional funds to support their family. If an international student is accompanied by their spouse and/or dependent children, they should be aware of how this will affect their housing and health insurance needs.

Bring Your Spouse

A foreign national is welcome to include their spouse on their application for a Canadian study permit, keeping in mind the above-mentioned impacts this may have on the approval of the study permit. If a foreign national is approved for a study permit in Canada with their spouse accompanying, then the spouse will be eligible to apply for a spousal open work permit. This work permit will authorize the spouse to work full-time for any employer in Canada for the same period as their partner’s study permit. If both partners are interested in pursuing studies in Canada, they each must apply for separate study permits.

Bring Your Dependent Children
A foreign national is welcome to include dependent children on their application for a Canadian study permit, keeping in mind the above-mentioned impacts this may have on the approval of the study permit. If a foreign national is approved for a study permit in Canada with their dependent child accompanying, then the child will be issued a visa authorizing their stay in Canada for the same period as the primary applicant’s permit. All minor children are entitled to pursue education at the pre-school, primary, or secondary level of study provided one of their parents is authorized to work or study in Canada.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada defines ‘dependent child’ as a person under the age of 22 years old without a spouse or partner. A person over 22 years old may still be considered a dependent if they are unable to financially support themselves due to a mental or physical condition.

Can I bring my spouse or common-law partner to Canada while I study?

While here, your spouse or common-law partner would be eligible for an open work permit. While you’re studying, he or she can work full- or part-time for any employer in Canada without needing a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).

If you are granted a post-graduate work permit once you complete your studies, your spouse or partner is eligible to renew their open work permit for the duration of your post-graduate work permit.

Can I bring my kids while studying in Canada?

International students are also eligible to bring their dependent children with them while they study. A dependent child is any child under the age of 19, or over the age of 19 who has depended substantially on their parents for financial support since before the age of 19 and is unable to be financially self-supporting because of a mental or physical condition.

If your dependent child is school-aged, they are eligible to attend one of Canada’s free public elementary or secondary schools while you study without needing their own student permit.

Can I stay in Canada after studying as an international student?

Being an international student in Canada may increase your eligibility for permanent residency, or open the door to immigration programs that you weren’t previously eligible for.

Your experience studying, working, and practicing your English or French language proficiency can all contribute to your eligibility. Your partner’s experience working and improving their language proficiency can also contribute to your eligibility.

If you choose to immigrate to Canada permanently following the completion of your studies, you will likely do so through the federal Express Entry system. This system consolidates the three major categories of federal economic immigration and groups all eligible candidates into a pool together. Every candidate in the pool receives a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, and the highest ranking candidates are periodically issued invitations to apply (ITA) for permanent residence.

Your CRS score is calculated differently depending on whether or not you are applying with an accompanying partner. If your partner has been living and working in Canada while you study, it’s possible that including them on your submission to Express Entry will increase your CRS score.

You can also double your chances of receiving an ITA if both you and your spouse submit profiles to the Express Entry pool. Your partner’s experience may make them eligible to submit an expression of interest to Express Entry as a principal applicant.

Remember you can only hold one or the other. A spousal work permit or study permit.
