I am sure I had posted such information here. They send both GRE and TOEFL scores at the same price. N8000.
It's even cheaper to send TOEFL score with d Access bank visa card because it costs just 6,500. For GRE score ordering, Mafit is cheaper.

Send at the test centre. The department still knows how to link the official copy with the online application. If you send the scores after the application you'd pay $27 for each score report which is above N14k.
14k shocked? At what rate....
I wouldn't advice anyone to send scores at such high rate. I sent all my scores via BY Mafit at 8k per school, and with access bank visa card, it's 8,775NGN.
Make we dey cut cost oo.... grin grin

PhD students have some sure funding but ms guys usually have a stiffer competition. Some ms students here who had funding in other departments last semester got teaching assistantships this semester. I think at this point, his profile and luck would be the best bet. Another thing is to start going through other departments site for those who need RAs especially the agricultural departments. Those places have more positions than people usually. The downside is that you still have to pay in state tuition.
@bolded. I never knew it's possible to secure RA position in a department different from d applicant's intending dept cool. Does this apply to incoming graduate students too?

hello house,

I have been a little busy of late that's why I only come here to read post once in two days.

Which of the TAMU's are you people talking about? I applied to TAMU Kingsville, LSU, Auburn, UHoustin and Lamar for MS Industrial and Operations Research Engineering.

Time (wanted to do all by January) and difficulty paying for test scores and app fees made me stop there. I had plans applying to at least 7. The thing expensive no be small.
TAMU is Texas A&M college station while TAMUK is the one in Kingsville.
TAMUK should be begging to have u ni, cos u got nice profile. Wishing all of us full funding. wink

My guy said 3.583. Why not 3.583388946 lol.

Answering this question is difficult because overall it is just there. Just there, meaning above average but not stellar. Do not be crestfallen however. Several things go into GPAs.

1. Your final 2 years in which you did core courses.
2. General improvement in the GPA from year 1- final.
3. Consistency
4. Core courses related to the PhD or MSc you are considering.

For instance, someone with a 3.5 who hopes to do some research in Interfacial Fluid Mechanics and got As in Transport Phenomena and Basic fluid mechanics courses while in Undegrad may appear to have a better transcript than a 4-Pter who perhaps got Cs there. Also, someone who had say 1.5 from years 1-3 but had 5.0 in 4 & 5 (thus landing on a 3.5) may appeal more to the evaluation committee than someone who blitzed through year 1-3 and wobbled at the final 2 years thus landing at 4.0. As you can see, a lot of things go into it that's why higher GPAs seem to be favored (as it guarantees more As in core courses than other wise).

I feel the need to add at this juncture that other parts of one's application could be the deciding factor even ahead of a GPA. If a renowned Prof in your field recommends you to a school whose committee members are well-known to him, his LOR would be weightier than an unknown Prof saying you are the best thing since sliced bread. Additionally, having cognate research experience like publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals and making presentations in conferences appear to be the best bet towards gaining admission into graduate school.

In a nutshell, don't bother about the GPA as you cannot change it (even if it is not bad). Just work on the other aspects of your application.
@ bolded grin grin.....d guy want d maximum possible approximation na.
Comment on point boss!!!! As usual.... wink

LSU applicant here.
So far so good, I've gotten admission into King Fahd University of Petroleum and Mineral Studies (MSc in Chemical Engineering) with full sponsorship and Imperial College, London (MSc in Petroleum Engineering) no funding whatsoever, hoping on PTDF scholarship. I applied to LSU, KSU, Utah, Notre Dam. I just got a rejection email this morning from Notre Dam. I applied for PhD program in all USA schools as funding is most important. My profile: Bsc chemical Engineering, GPA 4.58 (3.74 WES conversion), toefl 98 and GRE 312.

Choi!!!! This guy!!!!
I just open mouth as I dey read una profiles shocked ....
I think we should have LSU Applicant Association of Nigeria (LAAN) grin grin
KFUPM is a nice school, but I heard they admit mostly Muslim, applicants from other religion have very slim chance of getting in. They even have questionnaire on d religion thingy in their online application. Perhaps, u are a moslem brother...... I once applied to d school but the lecturer who was supposed to submit a recommendation letter for my application didn't meet up with their deadline, so my application was eventually not reviewed. I will still give it a shot again...

In addition to d schools mentioned earlier. I also applied to:
University of Arkansas
TAMUK (During my application, I contacted a prof who's doing research in my area of interest. After some email exchanges, he asked me mention his name in my application material as my potential advisor. I believe things will evetually work out fine)
Ohio University
U of Louisiana Lafayette
Wichita State Uni
Wayne State Uni.

San Diego State Uni (though they are still on my neck for my official transcript and degree certificate from my school. Fee days ago, I got an email from d Administrative Asst of d dept relaying a well packaged info from d Grad Coordinator (I initially thought it was admission decision). When I opened d attachment in d email, I was pissed with d content. It was just a letter from d grad coord informing me that my application isn't complete. Though they asked me to forward my SOP and LOR to d dept. I responded to d email explaining d challenges associated with sending my transcript to them, n d grad coord reverted saying that he perfectly understand my frustration, but that d grad school do not permit them to evaluate profile without official transcript......I just tire for d school

The speaking requirement for GA in university of Arkansas is quite high (ie, 26). I was surprised when the school contacted me saying that they use WAEC result for applicants from Nigeria...... Did any UArk applicant get that? I wrote d TOEFL test though

Thank God these great men here with stellar profile aren't applying to d same program as me.....they are mostly 'War heads', so I still get hope with my weak profile.... cheesy grin

Hello house,

Please is there anyone who is in Georgia Tech, applied to Georgia Tech or know much about the school?

I submitted my application to the school late last year before their priority deadline, though my recommendation respondents were not able to submit their recommendation before the deadline; only one did.

Few days ago, I got a response from the Director of Office of Student Services of my desired department. Below is his response:

*************************************************************************************************
Dear Seeker88:

We are in receipt of your application to the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. You have a very strong file and credentials. Thank you for your interest in Georgia Tech!

You have not been offered admission, but at the present time your file has been made available for viewing by the faculty of the Woodruff School via an internal web site. If a faculty member views your file and expresses an interest in working with you, we will notify you and continue to process your application. This evaluation will continue until April 15, 2017 and we will advise you of our decision at the latest by that date.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

**********************************************************************************

Mbok, is this a mild way of saying that my application is rejected?? angry angry. Please who know how their admission process works angry
Please tell me what you think about this feedback...
Thanks in anticipation....

You guys have been doing a great job here, ensuring this thread doesn't die!

However, like some people rightly pointed out, test takers on this thread no longer share their GRE test experience. They just come in, ask question and disappear. I implore all GRE test takers to always share their experience for posterity sake......this thread would have been this great without the contributions from those who have shared their experiences. Don't just comment only when you need information, cos that's not gonna help in the growth of this thread.

Regarding the issue of sharing our graduate application experience, I think that would be better compiled after going through the whole process.... undecided
We are still in the process and not really 100% certain of what the outcome will eventually be. Nevertheless, sharing a specific feedback from school or challenge encountered while applying to a particular school is not a bad idea, as the good people here who had applied to the school (or know about d school) could make a useful contribution. That's by the way.... undecided

Any applicant to TAMU, GIT, LSU and FSU/FAMU? I applied to many schools though, both the high and low.... grin grin grin. God will see us through.

Thanks a lot. I appreciate this forum. You guys are wonderful. Please can you guys suggest more schools for me who ain't stingy with funding

My profile:

Undergrad Course: Civil Eng
CGPA: 3.78/4(usa conversion)
GRE: 306
I didn't take TOEFL

Thanks in anticipation
For now, I can't specifically recommend schools that are not stingy with funding as I am also an applicant for Fall 2017. Your profile is okay. I'd suggest you search for schools that offers your course (with your desired specialization). You could narrow down your search to schools whose GRE requirements are close to your scores.

Also, check the research expenditure of schools/faculty.....I noticed that schools with higher research expenditure tend to give more funding to their students. Send emails to the graduate coordinator of the schools selected; certainly, most won't respond to your emails and few will respond. Strategize further based on responses received..... Send as many emails as you can; there's no fee for emailing the grad coord at least wink wink

During my search, I stumbled on a copy of Engineering School ranking from US News and World Report, and it was quite helpful in making my selection (I have attached a copy here for your use). I applied to very few top schools considering my 'not-stellar' profile, and turned more applications to the schools down the ranking while believing God for my testimony soon smiley smiley
https://www.dropbox.com/s/e9p1vxwrnnqszdy/All%20Engineering%20Ranking%202017-US%20News%20%26%20World%20Reports.xlsx?dl=0

Whichever strategy u wanna stick to, act fast because the priority deadline for most average school is around mid Feb 2017.

I wish you all d best in your application.

Pls house, an urgent question...is it compulsory for one to send photocopies of certificate to WES after one's school has sent transcripts down?
as a matter of fact, the certificate isnt ready yet. has anyone in this house been in a similar situation recently or at any time in the past years? what did you do about it? will be transcript be reviewed in this case. WES has actually confirmed receipt of documents.i wish to address this now to avoid delays. @sir riddy, lagosismyhome, deetus, texrem et al...Thanks
I don't think they will evaluate your transcript if ALL the required documents (including degree certificate) are not received. However, you could still send an email explaining your situation to them. All d best...

I am currently processing my graduate admission so I want to ask How many documents should be sent to WES for evaluation.
Depending on the type of evaluation u intend to do with them, they have the required documents for each evaluation type and for each country. Check those required documents at their website: www.wes.org
