Hello guys, please help with PowerPrep. The one i have has just 2 practice tests which i have done.

If anyone one would be kind enough to send me the link for download, i would really appreciate it.

Thanks.
The powerprep generally has just 2 practice tests. I don't think there's any other powerprep from ETS that has more than 2 test. However, u can practice further with d 2 tests in the Official Guide to the GRE by ETS.
How's ur performance in the 2 tests in powerprep? U mind sharing?

essayhelp is right. Kaplan practice tests don't mirror the difficulty of what you'll see on a real test. That you find them difficult doesn't mean the tests are helping you prepare for the real GRE. Most of these tests actually set very hard questions, that would never be asked in the real thing. They do this so you can feel bad about your prep, and think you're way behind in your prep. I think practice tests from the official guide, Manhattan (for Quant only) and Magoosh are better.

When you say the app is 'cool', what do you mean? I haven't heard about it, though.

Thanks a lot for the advice.

And for the app being cool, I was referring to the ease of use and the portability of the app. It also has a plethora of Quant n Verbal Questions for practice, predict scores for the Quant n Verbal section as one keeps practicing, indicates ones pace, etc

BTW, who knows a nice GRE material that treated "Permutation & Combination" wella...? I discovered this topic to be one of my weak points in Quant? Any suggestion on this will be highly valued.

Kaplan does not simulate the real GRE experience: it is considerably easier than the real exam.

Use Powerprep, Manhattan online tests, and Magoosh.

Hello mates,

Please is there anyone who's currently preparing with the GRE Kaplan online test (the MST tests) or who has prepared with it b4?? The scores i get in my practice test are not encouraging at all (max of 156 in Quant, and 150 in Verbal). It appears the MST tests are more difficult than the real test...?

Biko who has used this to prepare for the GRE test, and how does your real test score compares to your Kaplan MST scores?

Also, there's this app (prep4GRE) i stumbled on in Playstore which I think is cool, but dunno how relevant it is for my preparation....please, who knows how relevant that app is for GRE preparation

Thanks my people...

Thank you so much for taking out time to check for the available test dates. I have always had my eyes on the 12th Oct date in PHC...just wanted to be sure the date is still available before fixing my leave. This info has helped a lot!

I will update my browser as advised before checking it again, and hope it works. Please which of the browsers do u use for this?

Also, I saw an update on the GRE website about the Technical Difficulties being experienced on the test-take portal. So i think it might be a general issue.

Once again, thank you very much for your assistance.

There's been a change on the site, I think they're still working on it. To view available dates: click on "test Centers and Dates", next click on "View test centers, test dates and seat availability". Changes have been made on this page. In the first drop down box you have to select a test, in this case choice will be "GRE General Test", you have other options if you're writing a subject test. In the next box, you have to type a location; typing Nigeria (or just the location e.g. Lagos, Ibadan, Benin) will not give you any result. If you're using a computer, you'll get suggestions as you're typing making your job easier, but if you're not you can use the following:

Lagos, Nigeria
Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria
Benin City, Edo, Nigeria
Port Harcourt, Rivers, Nigeria
Abuja, Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria
Abuja Capital Territory, Nigeria

After entering your desired location, you can then click on "Find available test centers and dates" on the bottom of the page.

Thank you very much for this detailed explanation.

However, I followed the steps outlines above but didn't get the desired result. After clicking on "View test centers, test dates and seat availability", a page opened for the next step: In the 1st box on the page ("Please select a test"wink, there was no drop down box to select from, so i had to type "GRE General Test" in the text box.
In the 2nd box ("Find test center at or near this location"wink, I typed a location following the clue you gave, and finally clicked on the "find available test centers and dates" tab beneath d page. But finally, the last click didn't effect any change on the page as the page could not load to return search result......or could it be from my browser; I used mozilla firefox & internet explorer on PC...? Like you said, perhaps, it a general issue and they might still be working on it. Once again, thanks plenty bro!!! cool

Please any further assistance from a recent user of this site will be highly appreciated....

Nice scores! I don't think you need to rewrite the test. You also got good cgpa. Just arrange ur other application packages wella n u are good to go.....well done!

Also, could you kindly share your test preparation/strategies and experience so that others who are preparing for their GRE could learn from your experience/strategies.
Thanks ...

I don't think it's necessary forming WhatsApp group from 'cos info shared here can always be accessible to any GRE test taker unlike in WhatsApp group. Let's try to make d group more lively by sharing strategies for acing d GRE test based on experience....just d way the other great peeps here have done. My 1 pence though...

I am also preparing for the test. I stumbled on something which I thought is worth sharing here. It's about d access to up to 4 Kaplan full online practice test with about 10 verbal and 10 quant practice tests as well. It's d Kaplan Premium 2017 online access! Don't think it's cool to post the access details here, however, if u are preparing for GRE and need such access for your practice, kindly send me a pm....

I hope to share my GRE success story here someday and also contribute d little way I can just like my bosses here did: DanjaNinja, sirRiddy, mrjojo, happyday, and others I didn't mention. U guys are source of motivation to peeps here....remain blessed!

I noticed adding your numbers or names on to FB or WhatsApp seems to be the "in" thing. Dear, don't go about prepping for the GRE the wrong way. Stop! Don't go on to Facebook or WhatsApp yet!

You need to have a target score, prepare a personal study plan, buckle down and start practicing. It's the good-old method, and would continue to work. Like they say, the more things change, the more those things stay the same.

Of course, it's good to show your excitement about the GRE and browse around on what to expect, especially if you're new to the GRE. I mean, you can go on Facebook, see questions posted by someone, and discuss with friends. Same with Whatsapp.

But, you need to be careful. $205 to naira, at our current exchange rate is no joke. You need to know how to do practice for the GRE.

To do well on the GRE, you need to master core GRE skills.

For instance, there are some questions that will NEVER be asked on a GRE test. If you keep answering those, and you think you'd smile at your real test scores, think again. You'll never see extremely hard questions. Because it's a general test, and ETS is trying to gauge your level of critical reasoning skills, not our well you can solve that complex cubic polynomial question.

Truth is, some random person cooked up a question from the dark corners of the internet, and off they post it on WA or FB for innocent people to chew on. And daily, people are wasting valuable time on "extremely difficult" questions or way too arcane questions that you'd never see come test day.

ETs wants to test how well you can hold up, parrying diverse questions for a space of almost 4 hours. So, you'd be doing yourself a lot of harm, if all you do is solve some random questions posted on Whatsapp, check the answers, and smile at yourself if you aced it. Sorry, but it won't be that simple at the test center.

Here's what you should be doing: What scores do you want in Quant, Verbal and AWA? Write them out.
Next, find a quiet environment, remove all distractions and stretch yourself 4 hours with the standard breaks, and take the entire test (and that includes the AWA). Your head might start pounding the first time you try this. And that's the essence.

(Graduate school is no joke, and tests such as the GRE drill candidates, so they know that getting an MS or PhD is somewhat different from a BSc.)

And when you grade your answers, you won't like the result, compared to the target scores you wrote. I know I didn't like mine. But it's no time to whine. You need to set out few hours a day, depending on your schedule, making sure to practice questions (both on concept and strategy bases) on all sections of the test. And ensuring not to make the same mistake twice.

Practice and focus. It's how you get better.

It's how you master anything. It's how you prep for a test like the GRE.
U just said it all bro....I just hope that those who have been so anxious about joining GRE WhatsApp groups would learn from this piece.
Wishing all the GRE test takers here great success.

Thanks.
Go to this site: kaomanfen.com
You need to right click and 'translate to english' as the

GRE and TOEFL.
You can subscribe to magoosh if you can spare the cash. If you
cannot, kaomanfen and powerprep should be good too.

Please I really need your help on how to pay for the gre exam. What are the procedure or method to make the payment in Nigeria. I have registered and I have choosed Lagos as my test center. How do I make the payment, please I am expecting your reply.
The 2 options available to Nigerian candidates are: payment via visa card and payment via PayPal.

If you have diamond bank visa card that has been enabled for online transaction (ie, card already verified by "verified by visa" with an ipin, diff from ur normal ATM pin), u can just pay direct with s card n d equivalent naira will be deducted instantly from ur acct.

Otherwise, u can use PayPal to pay after u must have linked ur debit card (say GTB mastercard)to the PayPal account.
Lemme know if u require further clarification.
Cheers!

I am also a prospective LSU grad student. I applied for a PhD in chemistry and I was offered full tuition waiver and graduate assistantship. I got an initial acceptance letter (by email) from the department of chemistry which also notified me of my assistantship offer before I got a mail from the graduate school notifying me of same. It still reads provisional admission though cos I have to present my original degree statement (B.Sc cert. can suffice) when I resume at LSU. It will be extremely cool to have you guys around there.

Please, those who wrote their test recently n scored up to 160 in Q, what specific material did u use for d Quant and for how long did u prepare for d test??

Wrote mine in Jan 1st week and my score came out very low.....in fact, I couldn't believe my quant score when it was displayed on d screen. I prepared wity Barron in less than 2 months (combining work n study). I need to prepare better n fire back....with at least 160Q.

Is there anyone here who has combined GRE test prep with work n scored high in the test? Please an advice from anyone will be highly valued.

How low is your score...mine is 144V 151Q

I hope it isnt too low
It's quite low, just like mine: 146V, 146Q, 4.0 Writing. Though my undergraduate cgpa is above 3.5 after wes conversion....I may have to retake d test when my work schedule becomes less tight.
With ur score, u can still get admitted in many schools in d US provided ur cgpa is not low too, and u have good SOP n recommendation. Maybe work experience counts too....not sure though.
Sorry my response came quite late, work schedule has been really tight for me.

To send your degree certificate: make a photocopy of it, put it in an envelope, address it to WES and also include your Reference No. then send it through NIPOST (Any Post Office). if you send it through post office in Lagos, it should get delivered to WES in New York in 2 weeks time.

Please has anyone here used WES for transcript evaluation from Nigeria?

One of the required document for the transcript evaluation is a copy of candidate's degree certificate which is supposed to be sent to WES by the candidate concerned. Please who know the proper means through which the candidate sends such certificate to WES: uploading to WES online or sending the hard copy by post

Please, kindly assist with an urgent response.
