Recall that Siggy reported earlier that a final year 400 Level UNIBEN Student from the department of Mass communication named Juliana Martins was shot by a trigger-happy police man during a peaceful protest at NPDC, Benin-city in Edo state.

Furthermore, UNIBEN Students through the SUG PRO, Comrade Afolabi a.k.a Uniben legend have lent out their voices for justice for Juliana has the police officer in question is yet to be apprehended.

Consequent to this, the photo of the police man who shot Juliana has been released online as more voices cry out for justice to be meted on the defaulting officer.

The Vice-Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede has announced the reopening of the institution 28 days after closure over violent protests by students.

Siggy reported that the students on October 1st protested the death of a final year student of the Department of Foreign Languages, Aishat Adesina after they alleged that the school medical centre mismanaged her health condition.

The students were sitting for examinations before they embarked on protests, forcing a disruption of the exercise.

A release by the public relations officer of the institution, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, stated that the decision to reopen the University was taken at an emergency meeting of the Senate, on Friday, 29th October, 2021.

According to him: “The students would come to the residence on Friday, 5th November 2021 and continue with their examinations on Saturday, 6th of November, 2021 in tandem with what was previously on the ground.

“Parents and guardians are hereby advised to inform their children and wards, particularly those who have already finished their examinations to stay at home so that none of them would use the excuse of the reopening of the University to do something untoward.

“Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, then charged the students to be law-abiding and not to engage in anything that could further elongate the session.”

A male teacher of Itori Comprehensive High School in Ogun State has been beaten up black-and-blue for hindering a male student from assaulting a female student, Siggy discloses.

This occurred after the teacher asked the student to stop beating a fellow female student.

The unnamed student who happened to be in SSS 3 entered the class while the said teacher was teaching and began to beat the girl who was in the class.

According to an eyewitness, the teacher had told the boy to stop assaulting the girl, but instead of heeding to the teacher, he turned to the teacher and beat him up too.

It was gathered that while the teacher was rushed to the hospital the boy has been apprehended and taken to the police station while the Amotekun, a security newtork in South West region of the country was on ground in the school as at the time of this occurrence.

Chioma Chikaodili Mbionwu, the 300 level medical rehabilitation student at the Nnamdi Azikwe University (UNIZIK) who was killed by unknown gunmen will be buried this week in Anambra State, Siggy reveals.

20-year-old Miss Mbionwu died after she was hit by stray bullet close to the Nnewi Campus gate when gunmen attacked Unit offices of the Department of State Services (DSS) and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

The talented footballer will be laid to rest in her hometown, Awgbu in Orumba North Local Government Area of the state on Thursday, October 27.

Meanwhile, a friend of the deceased who was with her when the incident happened debunked media report that Chioma was killed because she tried to make a video recording of the gunmen.

"Chioma was never making any video of anyone. Her phone was in her bag as we were running for safety. We were coming back from Church service that fateful day, we stopped at a cobbler to mend a footwear, then we heard the gunshots from UGM, which made us to run into a nearby shop for safety. They were after someone and were shooting sporadically. Chioma was just a victim of stray bullet." the friend narrated.
