2,380 Barewa students in hostels meant for 1,000 — BOBA By Taiye Agbaje The President of the Barewa Old Boys’ Association (BOBA), Alhaji Umaru Abdulmutallab, has disclosed that over 2,380 students of Barewa College are crammed into 10 hostels meant for 1,000 students. Abdulmutallab, who was speaking at the annual dinner/ lecture organised by the Old Boys’ entitled: “World Financial Meltdown: Causes and Effects”, in Abuja, said the state of the college was extremely depressing. According to him, “for the 2008/2009 school year, the total students’ population is 2,380 crammed into 10 hostels designed to accommodate no more than average of 100 students each. “The college has three laboratories and the equipment there is nothing to write home about. In addition, more than half of the 87 teachers have no furniture and the staff room is jam-packed. The school’s assembly hall built in the 1950s to accommodate not more than 300 students, now serves 2,380 students. He said Barewa College, as an institution, had done well in the past by producing many leaders in not only the North but the entire nation. “Now it requires the help of everybody to continue to maintain the high standard expected of it,” he added. He noted that In spite of the high profile personalities that attended Barewa, which included President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the poor state of facilities in the school today has remained appalling. In his remarks, Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State said the infrastructural decay in the school is “as a result of the general decline and decay in our social system.” Speaking to Peoples Daily, the Minister of State for Power, Nuhu S. Wya, who is also an old boy of the college, enjoined its students to continue to toe the track which they left behind. “They should keep on flying the flag that we left behind. Continue to work hard to keep the good examples we have left behind because the sky is the limit for every hard worker,” he said. The Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Alhaji Garba Mohammed Gadi, opined that help was needed to arrest the decay in the school that has produced Nigeria’s numerous leaders. “That is why we are here and a lot of contributions have been made in cash and in kind. It is an impressive gathering for all the boys getting back to discuss the problem of their alma mater in order to come out with a solution to move the nation forward,” he said. |
that name Farouk is not an Hausa namei know that, but Abdulmutallab is a very very hausa name. It is impossible to find an arab with that name. Also dont forget that the hausas are all over africa and including yemen too, so he might be an aboki, but not really from nigeria- so let us keep our fingers croseed |
;d |
I heard the guy is from Ado-Ekiti.god punish you, na my state you dey curse like that ![]() |
A LONDON student claiming to work for al-Qaeda tried to blow up a Christmas Day flight, FBI sources claimed last night.olodo chiogo- UCL is university college london- let me just say I heard someone say someone say this guy is nigerian The guy is a mechanical engineering student |
So you now work for CNN too abi? or you found out in your room?olodo- 1-kobo, search his name online- Moreover, I have friends at UCL and I am chatting with them on facebook and they are telling me things- I no go talk online I dey fear, i no hear anything ![]() |
he knows maybe the man's not even a Nigerian?honerico- he is prolly nigerian- I have already done my investigation on him. |
Thank God the eediot is talkingyes ooo, infact the guy is going to spill the beans 100%, trust those cowardly abokis. The dumb al-qaeda people should look at the history of the people they use ![]() |
He could be there on scholarship from anybody including al Qaeda.Thats true- wow this could be a well-planned attack, so they must have recruited him from nigeria |
Are you reading the posts on the forum or speaking to the voices in your head? The guy, as i have mentioned previously has his roots in katsina state- but is likely to be a british national. If he isn't a british national then he must be the son of a wealthy nigerian- the guy attends UCL for crying out loud, that school is not cheap if you are an international student |
soon nigeria will be on the "RESTRICTED COUNTRIES" listVery likely it will be. Nigeria has always been a supposed security threat and a possible source of a terrorist attack. Now that this aboki and son of a cattle rearer has proved our enemies correctly, expect the visa lines in the american embassy to grow longer. F.u.ck, why couldn't i be sudanese? |
Keep your lube handy too. They might wanna go "in" just to make sure. ![]() |
he is probably british- they should stop calling him a nigerian national and a british national |
man this is a serious matter- no time for your silly jokes |
Infact I can't find any other muslims who bear the name abdulmutallab except katsina muslims www.ucl.ac.uk/~uczxmtk/UGM0702.doc you can find the culprits name here, one of our northern brothers at work ![]() |
You're ashamed of Nigeria because you are dumb.Whatever man, relax, I am dont care about your opinions anyways- I am not in your social or intellectual class, you only have the opportunity to talk to me because we are online. Savor this opportunity but don't abuse it. @topic Abdulmutallab is a hausa fulani name, infact I have confirmed that he is a mechanical engineering student at UCL |
I repeat that name abdulmullad is unqiue to the hausa people of nigeria- i have checked it out already. |
You're a complete, dumb cretin.I am ashamed too. I am receiving texts from nigerians all over the US who are ashamed too. I would change my nationality if i could. ![]() |
lol @ ohsis let the media keep using the names muhammed and al queda hopefully that would overshadow him being a nigerian. i have been watching the news and i haven't heard "NIGERIAN" yet are u ppl sure he's nigerian? . they are currently interviewing a passenger that sat in front of the suspect and they passenger said they all heard a pop, and then some volts followed by sparksAbddulmulaad or whatever is a very popular Katsina name. The guy is likely a Nigerian student studying abroad probably. That is why he could board the plane without being harassed severely, because he had a British passport. I dont know why they didnt freak out when they saw a one-way ticket. |
I think the guy probably figured it is better to enjoy the 72 virgins here on earth . . . 72 virgins on earth is worth a million in the after life. . .No, it wasn't that the guy couldn't carry on with the plans. The bloody son of a cattle-rearer was trying to detonate the stuff. |
I hope their names will distinguish them from some of us without exploding tendenciesyou must be kidding right- you know all of us look the same to them. |
I Just saw on TV a dutch journalist win an award for his story on the witch children of phenomenon in the Nigeria(Niger Delta in Specific), what the hell is that ? Why are we being so inhuman to those defenseless tots in name of "Jesus" ?I thot the south-south was developed? |
How the hell is someone named Abdul mullad not strip searched from head to toe. Infact how was someone with such a thick muslim name allowed on a plane- ![]() I have always been a big proponent of significant harassment searches especially for those with such thick names. I dont care if other people feel bad, you only get to live once. |
yoruba muslims don't usually bear such a concentrated name those are the two culprits- hausa fulani or yoruba muslim-except of course if their are other significant groups of muslims in Nigeria, I am ignorant of. |
