To be serious, if you believe in all the tenets of christianity- the classical tenets to say- then you are prevented from being very openminded about certain things. Halloween could be seen a s worshipping another god, when it just means dressing up having fun and such.

Now bring it to nigeria, where people are pathologically religious, while being totally ignorant about christianity in general. Halloween is a western celebration, i dont really care much about it, but I am using it as an example of why religious fanaticism/fundamentalism makes it difficult for us to progress

yep, i noticed that a lot too. Like in the US, the most liberal are usually the least religious, while the most biased people are usually very religious people- this isn't a cause and effect scenario, just that most abrahamic religions preach limiting the mind and believing in the supernatural or traditional. Christians/ (the second abrahamic religion that i am scared of mentioning because i dont want to be slaughtered) believe just based on faith and not critical thinking, and in the same vein most of their beliefs are based on instinct and not critical judgment.
Judaism is interesting because there  is a wide spectrum of practitioners, from Orthodox, Hasidic, to nonpractising jews.

you have to look at them all openly and objectivly.  i was raised roman catholic but now lean more towards hindu but that isnt right for everyone.  i had a friend in school who was raised russian orthodox and is not a methodist.  a guy i worked with was amish and now is lutheran.  what ever makes you feel complete or makes sence to you is what is right.  dont listen to the ones who say exploring religion makes you a child its a personal decision noone elses

This film they are making according to reports, tells the cause of the war, the way it was fought and the repacautions and lessons learnt. The name of the write is Sunny Ache but does anyone knows what part of NIgeria he's from? His name does not sound Ibo to me.

exactly, and that was one of the main criticisms about the movie. That it wasn't really more exceptional than previously produced bollywood movies, but that because it was produced by a British person and marketed towards a specific audience it was a success. Its portrayal of the slums of india was not really taken lightly by the indians.

I would be ecstatic if the movie was a hit, it would go a long way to show how much culture nigeria has, and that we face all the problems of a modern nation- while reconciling the differences inherent in us- but still striving to develop and become a leading nation. But i doubt the movie would do so. I am bit happier that it is a nigerian directing the movue but he might have to bend to the will of his investors if he is going to get money.

relax mate, and just read what i said, you are misconstruing 95% of what i am saying- fyi i dont watch american films anymore because they are, just like nollywood movies the same and not really innovative. But :

(1) Hollywood movies need to make a profit
(2) These movies must cater for the american audience
(3) This movie, must have something in it that would make people watch it. Famous american actor, beautiful cinematics, great soundtrack, poignant story e.t.c is required for a blockbuster movie. I am not seeing anything in this movie that would appeal to the wide american public which is obviously predominantly from one race
