the guy was a freedom fighter- but yeah i forgot Mandela, well Achebe is second. I think Achebe is respected for his brilliance and Mandela is seen just like MLK.

Can you Imagine? Embarrassed Embarrassed. Most peeps love sending their kids to those high profile secondary skools cuz you are almost guaranteed an Ivy league uni.
yep and these people's kids are also still very book smart. Good education makes u smart except u are really stupid. So power wouldnt shift much even in our generation, just the same ppl with the same names. these people's kids might  come back and continue the cycle of stealing. they would be running for Governor in the next 20-30 years.

But most of people who have encountered nigerians always say how smart they are- when i met people at Berkeley over the summer and told them i am from nigerian, I heard "you guys dont mess with your books, and are always perpetually studying" which is true.

Imagine if posakosa's friend had used his brilliant computer brain to create a software that improved the security of I-banks or financial companies? He could patent that shit. agreed he wouldn't be a millionaire in his 20s but who cares?

Really? Na wa ooo. I bet nah for private skools dem pikin comot abi?
yep, and they dont attend private nigerian schools- that is for the nigerian middle class- they attend famous boarding schools in america.

I was talking to this black girl from andover (the famous boarding school were the richest of americans attend) and she was telling me how there are like  no african-americans in her school and all the black people are nigerian or from the carribbean. Then when she started reeling their names to me- every single one of them had noticeable names (u knw the ones u see in papers such minister so- and -so of power and steel). wouldnt name names but i can assure you that 95% of our "politicans are enjoying the national cake and dividend of democracy"

I know countless people whos parents are in the News papers everyday doing bull shit. I odnt even think it effects them at all.
yep, while dora akunyili is rebranding Nigeria her kids are attending the best schools that money can buy. Wonder where she got the money to finance a $60,000/ a year education. Prolly from her salary grin

I would tell the truth, i dont know- but the people I have met at loyola are talented. I used to think it was a lie when people called them the best in naija- (obviously because i was not smart enough to go there) but after growing up and seeing how they pack themselves at the cream of the crop schools in America/Britain  (what i nickname the bastions of white privilege), I would give them the award for best students (not best school).

Then after that, KC students use to represent- but i dont know what would happen for our generation. Lagoon is also a good school, I dont know much about local schools because sadly i am only knowledgeable about schools in VI/Lekki (where the students are really not that brilliant) but the people in village schools (I mean goverment colleges) are really smart

So nah only dem politicians dey go dia? Embarrassed. Dem peeps no sabi book nah. The real smart ones dey naija Fed Govt, some states and private schools.
The first group ate the ones I have met who have famous names, I mean names that you would recognize like dantata, people in government u knw now,  . They are around the middle range in numbers

Then there are some i know who go there on full scholarship and pure brilliance- most of them are from loyola jesuits/ (weird village schools). Mostly the minority

Then the third group are nigeran-american or bretegerians (british nigerians). The majority usually.

Usually they are very smart but if you give people from FGC the chance, nigerians would get a new stereotype- just that these guys are too poor to have the same opportunities as other ppl

"Yes you are not a tribalist and i guess you are not a Nigerian either. May be you haven't heard of Hausas like Adamu Ciroma, Jubril Aminu and Tijani Babangida. They are cattle shepherds with class."
i was kidding anyways- but i am saying the truth- it is like impossible to see hausa outside nigeria. Like the probability to see one is like 0.00000001. Infact if i see an hausa tomorrow, it would be like seeing a Martian or a ghost.

A lot of Americans I met who have nigerian friends, tell me oh his/her tribe is yoruba or igbo or their names are chukwu/ olu somethin. Observation not meant to cause world war

I love hausa women by the way they are very pretty and I wouldnt mind marrying one even if my parents think they are uneducated crap. My son/daugther would make a good cattle rearer I would have to admit (joking).

so would we go back to the topic of the thread: how posakosa's friend scammed people and how very soon the US government would prevent nigerians (hausa, igbo whatever u choose to name yourself) from working in financial institutions
Politics › Re: Nigerians Again: NYC Temp Accused Of Stealing Identities by SEFAGO(m): 7:11am On Oct 30, 2009
when you say diaspora meaning left Nigeria do you mean in recent times or 100 of years ago?
I mean the ones in cuba, brazil, puerto rico and haiti. I mean the ones who practise candomble, santeria and voodoo (though voodoo is a combination of igbo and yoruba practises)
Politics › Re: Nigerians Again: NYC Temp Accused Of Stealing Identities by SEFAGO(m): 7:06am On Oct 30, 2009
yeah, man but sadly those ones are not the best people to boast about- u knw how it is for the african diaspora living in the land of oyibo.

It is more of the straight from naija and nigerian immigrants who achieve a lot, regardless of their ethnicity. I can assure you that nigerians are not half as bad as americans or even close and we do get unnecessary attention, just like people from other ethnicity who do crimes.

These guys who stole petty 1.1 million dollars are small fry compared to madoff, the enron management, the CEOs of BOA and Lehman who ordered significant amount of bonuses, the real scam artist who run mega ponzi schemes.

However, we know how much oyibo love to stereotype people so we should just avoid trouble as much as we can and smile at them continuously. Then when we gain economic power show them who is boss

Sjeezy do u mean nigerian yorubas or the significant number of people who are of yoruba descent in the diaspora? i mean long time diaspora not new ones.

its laughing my fucking ass off
oh  ok, that good- i am beginning to learn all these instant messaging terms- slowly and surely i will get there
Politics › Re: Nigerians Again: NYC Temp Accused Of Stealing Identities by SEFAGO(m): 6:55am On Oct 30, 2009
False. Tell some you're yoruba and they'll either ask you "FROM WEST Africa?" or "Where in Nigeria?"
or they will think you mumbled somethin in between your thick nigerian accent.

i dont think this should be a tribalist thread. I do agree that a certain tribe has the monopoly on this certain business but as they say "correlation does not mean causation"
Politics › Re: Nigerians Again: NYC Temp Accused Of Stealing Identities by SEFAGO(m): 6:53am On Oct 30, 2009
yes, i plan to go to the doctor as soon as obama's healthcare bill is oked.

Relax: I was talking about the LMFAO (laugh my fat ass off)

It is 2pm here and I am trying to finish a paper on Kant- i need entertainment- somethin you are obviously not giving.

I wish posakosa/( easy people to instigate) were here, i miss him a lot already  grin
Politics › Re: Nigerians Again: NYC Temp Accused Of Stealing Identities by SEFAGO(m): 6:48am On Oct 30, 2009
again, LMFAO!!
laughing cannot remove the truth. And go to the gym if you have a fat ass, it is sad for young girls of your age not to keep trim and proper undecided.

Really?
well from my experience yes. But I would say it is split btw yoruba and igbo. I still try and remind my foreigner friends that there is a third major tribe in nigeroa called hausas, and they keep asking me where are they and I also assure them "they are taking care of the nigerian cattle/ central bank"

See i am not a tribalist just saying what i noticed from conscious observation
Politics › Re: Nigerians Again: NYC Temp Accused Of Stealing Identities by SEFAGO(m): 6:33am On Oct 30, 2009
If there's any tribe which ve brought more pride to the black race then it is the yorubas!
actually very very true.

from bayo ogunlesi to seal, we are doin are doin. But i still think we do 419 best grin

CNN still won't tell you. I have no problem with the overestimation though (like someone assumed), but I honestly think certain pharmaceutical companies with a lot of clout were gaining from this.
true didn't consider that.
Some dumb guy in racism tribalism section thought "the majority of Nigerians" were infected with it
yeah i have met lots of people who think the same way especially when they hear i am a straight up naija gangster.

i didnt say it sucked, i said i didnt like the style- two very different things. I wanted you to convert to my style in case you wanted to be a writer. Obviously not. so you just wanted praise and no criticism?
