seanpounds:Hey we are in a similar field of interest. What I know for sure, about biomedical science, is that good schools usually interview and this plays a major role in being accepted. Its going to be hard doing that in naija- email and ask how interviews are being done before u apply. |
^ I was actually the one who posted since I was banned. I dont really need my degree to get evealuated since I have a rough idea of what I have in the british sysytem and US system. i was just curious and for my own erudition because I heard a second class upper is usually converted to something low like a 3.3 sometimes, which is really a average GPA under the US system. So i was just wondering if british educated people get screwed in the application process i.e you need a first class to get into a top school which is not the case for US students who could get a 2:1 equivalent and still get into top schools in their country. |
igbo boy:Don't be silly those are not examples of fraud- they are embezzlement, chop chop I never said 419 scams is Igbo- infact Yoruba people are the don lol and I am yoruba |
sefago family hehe |
All this one na story. Igbo people sell drugs a lot period. We don't need to bring other ethnic groups into this. This is quite common knowledge. Even the dumbest chinese kid knows this lol. Even the 419/scams u are talking about- the largest fradus have been done by igbo- Anajemba- infact there is a whole book written on him |
mekusxxx:LOL, i am not claiming him. I am not just sure about this tribe thingy for personal reasons. I saw this: However, THISDAY checks reveal that Aganga was born in Lagos, he schooled in Lagos and lived in Lagos before travelling out of the country but he has his root in the old mid-west region.Which is not even true- Aganga went to Christ School Ado-Ekiti, one of the best secondary schools in nigeria during his time before going to UI and then Oxford. So he never lived in Lagos for a long time. I think this story is likely not true |
Katsumoto:Thanks, moreover it is his choice to work at GS, and he definitely would make more on the side. As an accountant he would prolly be doing private consulting on the side. You dont know what he does at the side. Aganga was shortlisted for a reason, - it is likely that he has been consulted in some capacity by the Nigerian government. felele:Moreover don't be ignorant- the position he holds is very rare to get. He must have been exceptional to get there even way more than other managing directors. The path to managing director at an investment bank is a long an arduous one. However, its even more difficult when you come in as an experienced hire-you must have distinguished yourself in your previous firm (Ernst & Young in the case of Agana) out of the large number of applicants. Your claims of what you earn are insignificant. I pointed out Aganga's salary to show that he is not doing badly even those he works for people. Some people make choices to distinguish themselves in their careers, while some start multi-billion businesses. Aganga is a distinguished accountant, and thats enough said. Concerning his qualifications, I think an economists would be better off in that position especially a macro- or development economists. However, this is naija, and we should be happy we are not getting a mallam with a masters in islamic banking a someone earlier pointed out. I do believe there might be qualified lagosians. But if there are equally qualified lagosians, i would like to know. As for my state, Aganga origins is actually closer to my state than you realise , but that is not why I am selecting him |
felele:If Massa is paying you $300,000+ per annum before bonuses then who cares ? Be misyarning there, you earn that type of salaray? And you are spending time on NL- thank God for anonymity. He has over 15 year of experience as an acoountant in Ernst & Young which is also noteworthy. There is nothing wrong with working for people- I hear this a lot on NL people claiming they are going to start a business/started a business and disparaging those who work for companies.mind you, it is likely that Aganga sits/ or in the future would sit on top of the board of directors of several major companies. Be enterprising with garri there, instead of thinking how your salary would clock close to 500,000 dollars like Aganga |
HE IS JUST ONE OUT OF 15OO GOLDMAN SACHS MANAGING DIRECTORS WORLDWIDE. CONTRADICT THAT FACT IF YOU CAN, YOU NUMPTY!!!LOL, you should try and get a job at Goldman Sachs lets see if they would offer you an entry level position. Being a managing director is really hard. However, its also not a superworthy achievement maybe except for someone who is black- its probably rare to find an minority in the top echelons of GS and most of them have phenomenal records. |
LOL, I admit I did not read the whole thread. But that one was a bad joke ![]() |
^ Dont be retarded- its not an hoax, there has been significant pressure on shell toapologize for most of what they have been doing especially by environmental groups. Shell is obliged to hold to some ethical standard no matter what. Everyone knew what shell was doing but its very rare to get a corporate apology because it means acceding that you are wrong. Usually a corporate apology is met by falls in stock prices and such. I think y'all should be happy they apologized ![]() |
@poster Another imb.ecillic thread . . . Proundly name your tribe so that I would know where to start with you fool.

Will this become another Igbo bashing thread? No group has a monopoly on the dealing of drugs in Nigeria and among Nigerians abroad. This "Holier than thou" attitude really needs to stop. I mean come on, every society has their own bad apples. Do not allow one bad apple spoil the bunch. For every one Igbo drug dealer, there is always a higher number of Igbo doctors, accountants, pharmacist, and investment bankers etc. I have noticed a trend on Nairaland, every bad aspect of society is always blamed on the Ndi Igbo. 419, drug trafficking, kidnapping etc is always blamed on the Igbo.
Its true though and common knowledge that the majority of drug dealers in china are nigerians specifically igbo. We should be thinking of how to rectify this- tribes aside. |
Finally Beaf and resource control people can be happy |
He is Edo, not Yoruba. But was born and bred in Lagos.Hmm he is ethnic edo- really? I dont believe that, he is prolly yoruba living in edo |
There are fears that the nomination of Mr. Olusegun Olutoyin Aganga, managing director of London-based investment bank, Goldman Sachs as minister by Acting President Goodluck Jonathan may run into stormy waters.LOLZ, I learn something new everyday about my beloved country |
all the banks recieved bailouts, those that needed it, and those that didnt PS goldman sachs usually only hires mint MBAs from wharton of harvard or other top business schools perhaps your friends are going to mop floors
Not true. They hire undergrads (Analysts), MBA and APD (advanced degree holders- PhD- in science and engineering, MD, JD )- Associates Hah funny. My friends are undergrad- they are working in various division- IBD, sales and trading, operations and research. As I said it depends on people's idea of smart. I have a different idea of what it means to be smart. All the banks received bailouts because of systematic failures. ANother IB has caused Greece to fall into trouble hehe. I hope Segun Aganga is not going to come and sell complex loan products to improve the Nigerian economy. That would finish us ![]() |
Who stole Jonathan's hat from his wardrobe? Its a resource control cap. Under the cap is where all the Niger Deltan chieftains keep the stolen loot reserved for the development of their people. |
Beaf:LOL, I have some family from Edo, and they wear those ugly caps a lot. Wish what you want, if Jonathan moves towards resource control his days in office would be numbered. The Northerners who put him there, know what they are doing. My real name is beautiful like all yoruba names. well we are in the 21st century, and nowadays u need private equity. . . deep bond markets, ability to tap international finance and so on to build your infrastructure. . .He actually heads the hedge fund department of Goldman sachs- interesting, so he is a risk taker for naija economy I am worried. Goldman Sachs is the number one bank in the world doesn't mean much- during the economic crisis they were receiving bailout all though they paid it back. As per the smartest in the world, I beg to differ, , I have at least six friends who are heading to work there next year, one of them was my lab partner and in all my classes at college. Most of them will not be what I call smart just ambitious and greedy. Infact, all the people i know who work for IB are not really nice ppl. Unecessary bureaucracy. Ministers also have deputies called Minister of State. We do not have enough money to be running such a bloated civil service. It is not sustainable gievn the ammount of work that needs to be done in the country. So, i thought- I think the ministry of women affairs should be substituted with the ministry of terror prevention (both internal and external), mines and steel should go under resource development. We evn have youth development lol |
trueword:This list is likely not final. Infact dont be shocked if none of the people on that list appear on the final list of ministers. |
well remember Ngozi okonjo Iweala as finance Minister? she did exceptionally well. . the world is now global, we dont need local champions,we need people that can think big and actualize our dream for us. . . let me ask u. . .if yar aduas tenure came before obasanjos,do u think we would have paid off our debts by now? or u think our $38billion dollar debt(we had then) would not be used to siphon more money all in the name of debt service by some silly minister we dont need any more bureaucrats in abuja, we need more technocrats
I am more curious about what role he played in Goldman sachs. Okonjo iweala did a lot of work on development, infact has research as a PhD student was on development economics- which is what Nigeria needs to leave the infrastructure synonymous with 18th century England. |

Moi? You're way out of your league, boy, I pay my staff more than that, and that's the ones here in Lagos.
, but that is not why I am selecting him
