The Oodua Peoples Congress on Wednesday sent a congratulatory message to President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, over his election victory. The National Coordinator of the Congress, Gani Adams, in the congratulatory message made available to PREMIUM TIMES said the success of Mr. Buhari at the election across the country proved he is the choice of the people. Mr. Adams commended him for his resilience and tenacity over the years. “I wish to send my congratulations to the President- elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, on his success in the recently-concluded presidential election. By his resounding success in the election across the country, General Buhari has proved that he is the choice of the people,” Mr. Adams stated. “I commend his resilience and tenacity over the years which have seen him equal the record of great leaders like Abraham Lincoln of the USA. His victory is a lesson to all of us that we can be what we want to be if we are patient and persistent in our legitimate pursuits in life”. “His speeches before, during and after the election are also commendable because they went a long way in dousing the tension in the country. This actually shows that the ‘Peoples General’ as he is fondly called is indeed a statesman’. The Congress leader called on Mr. Buhari to begin to see himself as the president-elect of all Nigerians and not just that of the All Progressives Congress. “However, having won the election, I want the president-elect to begin to see himself as the president-elect of all Nigerians and not just that of the All Progressives Congress (APC). For him, it is time to mend whatever differences that may have arisen as a result of the election. “It is time for all Nigerians, irrespective of political affiliation, to come together to continue to build our nation in a positive way, which of course, should be the focus of the president-elect himself and every other political leader across the various political parties in the country”, Mr. Adams said. “And for all of us, it is a new dawn in the annals of the country for an opposition party to win in a popular election. Mr. Adams also congratulated President Goodluck Jonathan for creating a level-playing ground for all the parties that contested the election and the high spirit of sportsmanship he displayed when he called to congratulate the president-elect even before all the results were released. “By his action, President Jonathan has truly lived up to his statement that his ambition is not worth the life of any Nigerian. This is an exemplary feat, which any other presidents coming after him must not fall short of achieving. “And to all Nigerians, who by their participation in the election also deserve kudos as they defied the weather, distance and other hurdles to cast their votes. Their actions have revealed that democracy in the country has come to stay”. “I urge them not to rest on their oars as their consistency in holding leaders accountable to their promises will go a long way in bringing out the best from the public office holders. Mr. Adams was among notable personalities in the South-West opposed to Mr. Buhari’s election. Shortly before the election, he organised a pro- Jonathan rally in Lagos which turned violent. He promised to deliver six million votes to Mr. Jonathan, but he was unable to do so. www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/180464-gani-adams-praises-buhari-says-hes-nigerias-abraham-lincoln.html |
the senate presidency is going to the north central, saraki or akume are the two most likely candidates. I think saraki will get it anyway due to his contribution to the success of APC both during the campaign and at the poll |
I'm really happy today. I thank God for vindicating me at last. I pray that God almighty will grant GMB the wisdom to lead this country to the greatness that we are all destined for in Jesus name |
how come we're not seeing result from southeast and south South? I hope they are not planning to inflate the results after knowing the margin of their loss in other zones? |
APC leading with small margin in ilejemeje LG area, ekiti state |
PDP and rigging are synonymous |
Fayose! |
while I condemned the setting up of a secret radio station, I expected the writer to tell what the contents from the radio station have been so far and not just guessing what he thinks it is after all the radio station is already in operations when PDP started using AIT to disseminate false and inciting info we warned the govt against such but no one cared to listen now the opposition party has followed suit the politicians are just unnecessarily overheating the polity and I honestly hope we the common men can rise and refuse to be used by these self-serving politicians |
#GMB |
you're such a pathetic individual, why must you add tribal sentiments to every issue? now that someone has shown you articles written by Sahara reporters to expose the people you mentioned in your post, are you now ashamed of ignorant and myopic reasoning? with people like you around, one wonders if we will ever get things right in this country |
while this is very commendable by Mr president, the question I ask myself is why wait till 2015 to honour 2012,2013 and 2014 Corp members? I had a friend who had been due for the presidential award since 2013, but nothing was done since and the guy already gave up on the whole stuff. what if there was no election this year? or what if the election wasn't postponed? does it mean these guys wouldn't have been rewarded? if you're just giving a guy who finished Nysc in 2012 a federal employment in 2015 and you expect him to take it, you're indirectly saying you don't expect him to be gainfully employed 3 years after service and that tells you the rate of unemployment in the country I hope we will get to a time when our politicians will start doing things with sincerity of purpose and not because of mere political popularity. God bless Nigeria |
this is just pathetic from the PDP! how petty can they be really? does this allegation make sense to them? tinubu will force osinbajo to resign, then he becomes the VP and wait for buhari to die, really? and what if buhari doesn't die in the next 10 years? tinubu will poison him? I think gej should call his campaign organization and party men to order, it's getting really embarrassing that all they can come up with is death wish for buhari, if this had been from APC I'm sure they will be all over the place raising some useless false alarm. buhari will not die but live to deliver this country from your evil hands! |
that's the problem with this govt! .we don't need highlight/summary of the report, rather we need the full report and then we can make our own informed deduction this one that the AG is saying nnpc should remit a minimum of 1.48billion dollars doesn't make any sense to us, if there's a minimum then what's the maximum? in order to avoid all these ambiguities, give us the full report except you guys have something to hide |
how reliable is the source? I doubt lai Mohammed will say this. moreover other news outlets will be awashed with the story if it's true |
it's either these afenifere guys don't know what they are saying or they are just trying to deceive people how can gej implement the recommendations of the confab without first amending the constitution which we all know is the sole responsibility of the legislature? and whether we like it or not, APC will win significant number of legislative seats irrespective of who wins the presidential election, so how will gej get the approval of the APC guys for the implementation of the confab reports? |
ironsi isn't a national hero! his coup was perceived to be tribalistic in nature! why don't ask yourself this question? has been immortalized by the eastern people? if his people don't even see him as their hero, why should other people do? charity begins at home |
when they told us election would be postponed, we all said it wasn't going to happen but alas it happened. I've learnt to trust Sahara reporters now or at least give them some element of doubt |
so what about the bishops and kabiyesis who are Christians themselves but keep their caps on even during prayers? |
and reno omokiri claims to be a pastor? if GMB hasn't visited some States and someone is telling us how long GMB spoke in those places, how can you trust the other info the guy provided? I honestly believe gej aides are just ridiculing him daily, what on earth will it cost them to do some research before coming out to disgrace their boss |
ffk is a shameless individual. as for gej, he should forget about this election cos Nigerians have embraced this change already |
whao! I just hope GMB will fulfill all these promises. gej your time is up |
why won't the debt be much when all Fayemi did was to award inflated contracts, doing projects that have no direct impact on the people like building a new governor's lodge when the civil servants in the state haven't been paid for two months now? he spends huge amount of money advertising himself on TVs and pages of newspapers paying huge amounts to some useless elites all in the name of commissioning some useless projects while the common people on the streets have no jobs |
hehe, Nigeria military over to you! what do you have to say about this? maybe this is the third shekau. anyway, I really don't care whether he's alive or not, all I want is an end to all these crises, may God give total victory over them |
I'm more than convinced that our leaders know the people behind this book haram issue, what baffles however is; why haven't they done anything about these people? are they so powerful that even the fed govt cannot prosecute these individuals? I pray God help us in this country, sometimes the whole thing just makes one sick! |
RIP to afrika and the other student activists who lost their lives to the tragic incident! July 10 used to one of the most lively days in school in those days as you get to meet former students leaders. |
RIP man, what a great loss to the nation! I really love his insightful and unbiased contributions to most national issues. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. |
Thanks |
