Lawunmi11: Thank you so much @segun889. My mum picked up her 6 months visa today. I stated in her application that she’ll be spending 10 days during her visit, is it okay if she decides to spend 3weeks instead?
Thank you Congratulations. She can spend however long she decides but not exceeding 6months. So to answer your question directly- Yes it is okay. |

Very simple. If the application is for your mum. Just state their “He is my son”. That’s what I type in each time for mum’s UK applications. abuhaneefah29: Can anyone else help to answer this ? Would really appreciate |

She can show her house documents, utility bill energy bill to prove her home ownership. You will need your rental or accommodation letter/agreement Because your brother funded part of your fees and upkeep, it further supports that: 1. He has some commitment to sponsoring your education as well as your upcoming graduation. 2. He has capacity with evidence to fund your mum. Your mum’s application looks good to be honest. Lawunmi11: Thank you for your reply Yes she’s a home owner. How do you think she can prove this I’ll be responsible for her accommodation only My brother did fund part of my school fees and upkeep |

A few questions to ask; You have stated she is an integral part of the landlord association. so is she a homeowner? If yes, you can evidence this with property details. Secondly, are you gonna be responding for her accommodation only? Lastly, did your brother fund any part of your schooling or upkeep? Overall, I think your brother in US should provide a supporting letter to state he would be responsible for her travel (visa application fees and flight ticket) and miscellaneous expenses during her 10 day visit for your graduation. He should also state the amount he will support her with and can also include a statement that he already made some transfer to her account for her trip. It might also help to include his bio data page of his passport as well as yours. Lawunmi11: Hi all Please I need advice on what to do in this scenario I want to invite my mother to my graduation but I can’t sponsor her because I can’t afford it However, my brother in the US wants to sponsor her trip. He sent #1.5m in to her account a month ago. The issue now is that my mother is unemployed so is it okay to state and show in the bank statement that the money came from her son who is willing and capable to sponsor the trip. She has her own savings of about 600k in the account before the 1.5m. She’ll be staying with me during her 10 days trip I stated in her application that she’s unemployed but receives a basic #100,000 monthly allowance from my brother sponsoring the trip. I plan to show this in her bank statement too I also added that she’s an integral part of the landlord association in her community to show that she has ties in her home country Please What else can I add to the application to convince the Eco Thank you |

To answer your question directly- Yes you can have a 1 year COS. There is no fixed length for COS, it is rather dependent on the length of your contract. So bear in mind you will need a renewal of your work visa (ie new contract/COS) on or before the current one you will receive expires 24krests: Please treat as urgent !!!
I have been offered a one year COS for a care job. I will like to know if there is anything like one year tier2 visa. My fear comes from the fact that every COS I’ve been told about is either 3 or 5years.
Can I use it the one year COS for my visa application.
Please help me! |

No issues. You’re good to go Tkulthenoble: Thank you for the reply Bro. I got my Visa approved on Wednesday here in Abu Dhabi and got my passport this evening.
Another question, I mentioned in my DS-160 that I will be staying in Houston when I arrived in the states but during my interview New york was one of the states I mentioned to VO that I will visit but Looking at the flight from Dubai to Houston is far and more costly than the flight from dubai to New York. If I want to go in through New York will there be an issue for not going through the state I mentioned on my DS-160?
Thanks |

I'm not sure if you meant what to do at JFK airport or NY. Secondly clarify if JFK is your final stop or transit to your final stop. Generally though, JFK is very busy. Depending on your time of arrival there (mornings are slightly better) or the terminal you arrive at, you are likely to spend quite some time on the queue to get through CBP agent. You may need to use the air train as well. Once you collect your bags you can go to any of the lounge or to the food court if you have time. I must say that only if you have 4 or more hours to spend at the airport would you have time to do anything else otherwise, by the time you are through with CBP and getting your luggage i guarantee you'll be looking for the Exit to the Cabs. In future, try going through Newark or LaGuardia to compare if you prefer quieter airports (esp LaGuardia). Hope this helps etare788: Hello house,

Tkulthenoble: Thank you for the reply. around 5k USD would be great budget for this or more? Any idea? Plus do I need to do my hotels reservation before the interview in case the VO would ask ? 5K to spend in 14 days depends on your what your income and account balance looks like. 5K (flight+hotel stay for 2weeks+feeding +continental US travel+ some small shopping) looks good. You can make hotel reservations without payment (booking.com) to bolster your itinerary evidence. Please don't buy any flight tickets yet |

Two months —Too long. You need to probe for your passport for an expedited return especially if 5-10days was indicated on the original paper. Hello2023: Hello Abujaniv, I finished my F1 interview on April 27th, 2023 at Abuja, and the last time my case status was updated at ceac.state.gov was on May 2nd with a status of Application received. Since then, things have continued in this manner. After the interview, I was given a white slip with the locations to pick up my passport and visa in 5–10 days. I've been so concerned since I'm at a loss on what to do. I've contacted the embassy several times via phone and letter and have been advised to wait wit. Already, the two-month mark is approaching. Please, anyone else is going through this lengthy process? My first class is in the fall of 2023. |

Tkulthenoble: Hi my ppl need your help on my my transcripts for my B2 interview here in Dubai next week.
VO: Why are you traveling to the US?
ME: I will be trvaeling to US for for tourism, Where I will be visiting Houston to see the natural science museum, New York to visit the Town square, brooklyn Bridge, Libery Statue et.c, Miami where I will be visiting Miami beach etc and Carlifornia holly wood.
So my question on this my answer is, is ir realistic to visit all these states within 14 days? Cuz I did the same when I traveled to europe last year as a tourist I visited 5 countries from Germany, Please I need your answers cuz it will be very helpful. Thanks It is very possible to do these visits in 14 days. However be mindful that continental European travel is very cheap… you wouldn’t get similar prices for travel within US. |

You don’t need to cancel it. You put in a lower figure than the actual amount. This would typically not count against your mum. Mariamade21: Hello, Please I need an advise. I have submitted my mums application for a 2year visa and we made a mistake on the form, really don’t know how we missed it. The figure we put as what she earns is different from the payslips she has. Her salary was increased so she’s earning higher than what she was earning last year but we put the last year figure in the form.
Should we cancel the application and re-submit another ? OR Should we submit another cover letter highlighting the error?
Can this cause a refusal? She’s to do her biometrics on Monday. I’m really worried
Thank you |

YES you can help your mum complete her application and You don’t need a written permission to help her do so. LaShawn: Good evening all. Please am I allowed to fill the visa application for my mum? Does she need to give me a written permission? Because I learnt there is a declaration now asking if it is the owner filling the form for themselves or if there is someone else filling it for them. I am just apprehensive because if I fill it, it will be faster as my mum is not too computer savvy, but with help, she will fill it by herself (she can type well). |
Travel › Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by Segun889: 7:42pm On Apr 02, 2023 |
LaShawn: It’s okay if her husband is covering the cost. So you need to check the average cost of flight to uk at the moment (eg £600 and extra £300-400 for stipend depending on how long she is staying there). If she isn’t going shopping, 3M (approx £5232) will appear as a lot. Remember, to use oanda to calculate estimates.
My dad stated in his financial consent letter that he would be the one to pay for her flight ticket and her pocket money. That is why I wanted to know how much she could put down as her spending money out of the statement containing 3m.
For me, I don't have a regular job because my professional course leaves me with little time to work due to placements and I have childcare too. I managed to do some hours earlier in the year, but that's about it. Though I have a mutual funds account in Nigeria, can I present that?
In view of the information, like what percentage of the statement can she present as her spending money?
Thanks as I await your kind response. |

hounta2: Please I just graduated from school and I've been sent an invitation by the British Army to come for my assessment but I dont have heavy statement of Account...please can I use someone's else bank statement or what can I do? You don’t need a heavy bank statement for visa application if your application is genuine. However, you do need to show your travel expenses and that you can sustain yourself when you are in the country. In your case, since it’s for an assessment, indicate your trip if for a week for example. If you have where to stay, then it’s even better as you wouldn’t need to show proof you can afford accommodation |

LaShawn: Thank you so much. Yes, feeding and accommodation would be on me. Do I need to attach my own statement for that? (I would attach my tenancy). You're welcome. attach your tenancy agreement. you can attach your payslip or bank statement. PS: although it's good if you submit your payslip or bank statement, it wouldn't necessarily be a cause for rejection. Make sure she also submits are regular bank statement to evidence she can afford her flight ticket. |

LaShawn: Can someone please help me on the amount she intends to spend on her trip? Her sponsor statement bal is about 3m your own status in the country can be a huge determinant for how much you need to input. if she doesn't need to pay for accommodation and her feeding, an amount sufficient to cover her flight expense as well as a small extra cash (eg £250 or more) would suffice. however the case would be different if she will be responsible for own a feeding/accommodation etc. Hope this helps. cheers |

@Abiwealth. It would be helpful to state your position in UK. your mother or mother-in-law might not require lots of financial document if you or wife have sufficient funds/income to show you can manage her upkeep whilst she is with yourselves. you must present her application to appear that her assistance is needed for support before, during and after delivery. Submitting MatB1 is good but further evidence to justify she wouldn't be a burden can be made without intricate employment/income conundrum. In a nutshell, if you present her application well, she can have 20 or 100k it wouldn't matter except she wants to show sufficient money to buy a flight ticket if she will be responsible for it. I'm happy to respond to any queries. Just ask away. By the way, this is my 10cent contribution. |

Joy49101: yes my first time. Thanks alot your application is pretty straight forward if you re-apply. reduce the £1200 and in the additional information section you can give a breakdown. E.g £500- flight. £200-300- for miscellaneous ( remember it's a 10d visit) NB: accommodation is already covered by your childhood friend including feeding. He/She can also provide you with her rental agreement/council tax. my 1p contribution |

@Debbieee The original question posed was “ Has anyone applied for a USA visitors visa from the UK? which you replied except the person legally lives, work or study in UK. My response was that it is possible to apply. My response did not include how likely or unlikely they are to be successful with their interview which typically will be underpinned by the strength of their application. I’m sorry to hear your friends were unsuccessful with theirs. At least the count is now 3 that I’m aware of their successful application. I invited and sponsored 2 of the 3 to UK and also sponsored and invited the same 2 to US. Yes, you’re also right, applying from home country is advised but the alternative exists.
PS: The people I referred to as successful are in their 60s. I’m not sure if it had anything to do with it |

1. I did not make the rules. It’s USCIS policy. 2. A lot of people might have a UK visa but not many are aware of point number 1 ( I believe you are in this same category) 3. Only a few will want to travel to UK just to attend a visa interview but a few people who are aware of it, I’ve applied successfully during their visit. 4. The snapshot is just me booking an appointment for a cousin who will be visiting UK in the coming days. Lastly, the information is to help whoever needs it. I believe people can make further enquiries of their own PS: Information is free. Debbieeeeeee: What ties does a visitor in the Uk have to the Uk? You think everyone waiting for date in nigeria here don’t have valid Uk visas to attend their appointments in the Uk or they didn’t see the October date you posted.
