Oga, when is HOLDco commencing? sterlingmurda04: I will advice that GTBank shareholders start taking their profits now, irrespective of their time horizon in the market. The reason for my statement isn’t far fetched as the Holdco transition is more of a disadvantage for minority shareholders. However, I will advice you leave some units and keep watching as the Holdco unfolds, from experience and history it has shown that HoldCos at their inception sell at a discount, hence the need to be patient. Also shareholders will need to watch out for draconian tax law in Nigeria on HoldCos as “Excess dividend tax” is something to watch out for. Dividend in HoldCos are taxed twice. Their are so many disadvanges I won’t be able to state here which overweight the advantages. |

WAPCO is in a recovery phase. Let time judge. Tvegas: My take on WAPCO, I was expecting an EPS of at least 60kobo instead of 30kobo. I was a bit dissapointed. Though we have to factor the rainy season spanning JUNE to AUGUST into WAPCO's result.
Despite all that WAPCO is still very cheap considering his Colleagues in the industry, WAPCO shouldnt be selling less than N25 by the time 4th quarter result comes out.
IF BUA with a full year EPS of N1.79 could do N35 as at 2020, IF Guinness with a loss per share of 38kobo could sell for N17, If CAPL with an EPS of N1.33kobo could sell for N19.60 in 2020. Then WAPCO with an EPS of N1.75 should not be selling for anything less than N25.
But who am i to dictate to Mr Market, If Mr Market can price Zenith a N40 stock at N21, then it can even sell WAPCO at N15. However, Infomation reaching me says Cement Price is going up before year end, WAPCO management will be cheats if they dont declare a better result by the 4th quarter. |

It would be good for the company to make clarifications. Technical fees may not be associated with revenue, It could be on product development or something. The company has done creditable well I am waiting for others for peer review. Moreso the coy liquidty has improved significantly lexy2lexy: It will be interesting to know what is driving the higher technical fees. How will the merger with ready mix drive an increase in technical fees without corresponding increase in revenue. Usually technical fees are a percentage of revenue. The 3Q result was poor in my opinion, the quarter EPS dropped significantly compared to the earlier quarters in the year.
BTW, really appreciate the depth and quality of your analysis. Maximum respect bro! |

There are two ways for retirees to live off their investments. One is to sell stocks or assets when you need cash, but this will leave you very susceptible to the vagaries of the market. You’ll sometimes have to sell assets at disadvantageous prices, just because you need the money.
That’s why many retired investors focus instead on investing for income: owning investments that generate a steady income stream, without ever having to sell anything.
''There are several advantages to income investing. For one, your income stream is reliable, and not price-dependent. The best income-generating investments keep paying investors to own them regardless of what’s happening to their price.
Second, if you invest right, your income stream can actually grow… sometimes while your portfolio is growing too! If you’re selling assets whenever you need cash, your portfolio will be shrinking over time. But if you own investments with growing income streams, and rising prices, your income and your portfolio value can both increase over time.
Income investing can also become less work as you get older. After a few years of building up your income portfolio, you may find that you can just sit back and watch the dividend checks roll in as you enjoy your golden years.
Lastly, income investments’ reliable returns make them less volatile than the market. A recent study found that U.S. stock funds with yields over 2% (meaning they hold mostly dividend-paying stocks) had an average three-year annualized standard deviation (a measure of volatility) of three percentage points less than stock funds yielding less than 2%. In addition, many income investments actually become more popular when the market is weak—or when the environment is “risk-off” in Street parlance—so they can be great buy-and-hold assets for investors who don’t want to have to trade a lot.
Income investing is fundamentally different from investing for capital appreciation though. If you’re accustomed to buying stocks for their appreciation potential and selling after their prices rise, then you may have to start thinking differently about your investing strategy'' |

Guinness just did more than double negative in quarter to quarter EPS comparision. Guinness is struggling now. Investors beware. Share price may still go up , but no more for long term investors. For cash, it shows that the company has made changes to policy on trade receivable which contributed the higest to cash. meine: Just some questions for Guinness investors
Is Guinness not in the same Sector with Nigerian Breweries? Is Guinness the only company affected by the excise duty? Guinness may be sitting on a lot of Cash but we know thats not Guinness primary function, its function is to make that cash sweat and work hard for investors.
Guinness is not doing well right now so investors should trade with caution. From a Loss Per share of 17kobo in Q1 2019 to Loss per share of 38kobo in Q1 2020.
This doesnt mean the company cant turn around its fortune if it gets better managers. I see a lot of inefficiencies in Guinness, If i am buying right now ,I will buy as a long term investment. |
