The leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Benue State has called on the general public to disregard the ongoing claims of anxiety over Governor Samuel Ortom’s seat. The party said there was no iota of truth in the romour, adding that the planted reports were fabrications of mischief makers. The National Legal Adviser of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Muiz Banire had in an interview with newsmen revealed that the APC might lose the Benue governorship seat to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the controversy trailing the issue of lawful governorship candidate of the ruling party in the state, if necessary intervention was not timely taken. Reacting to the claim in a statement issued Sunday night by Tahav Agerzua, Special Adviser to the governor on Media and ICT, the ruling party asked the general public to disregard the rumour, saying that the story was sponsored by some mischievous persons. The statement noted that “In this instance, they claim to be quoting a letter from the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Legal Adviser but on close scrutiny the contents neither justify nor support the claims of the authors who obviously seek to drum untenable support for a particular governorship aspirant of the party in Benue State. “It is most unfortunate that the man whose justice they wish to secure on the pages of newspapers, claimed to have emerged as the consensus governorship candidate of the party on 11th January, 2015, long after nominations had closed for that office and Samuel Ortom’s name had been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. “By this time, it had to take Ortom’s voluntary withdrawal, death, or court order to substitute his name. “None of the three happened and Ortom went into election as the APC governorship candidate and won convincingly. “A twist to the claim emerged at the Federal High Court in Abuja when two of the aspirants said to have supported the consensus candidature alleged that their signatures had been forged. “This claim was not disputed to the best of my knowledge and remains the subject of further discussion another day. “For today, the writers out of touch with happenings in Benue State still claim that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was challenging Ortom’s election on the ground that he was not validly nominated when in fact that case had been dismissed by the Makurdi Federal High Court. “The matter before the election tribunal against Ortom’s election is a solo action of the PDP governorship candidate without the support of his party whose suit in any case, had collapsed like a pack of cards. “Curious enough Ortom was not joined as a party in the case challenging his nomination before the Abuja Federal High Court which has to rule on whether he could be joined or not now that he has immunity as governor. “The claim in the reports that the APC National Working Committee has been meeting over the Benue governorship ticket is false as the national secretariat of the party had never notified Governor Ortom of such meetings in which his fate had to be discussed. “From the foregoing, it amounts to standing logic on its head and proceeding from there to build castles in the air for any one to have any forlorn hope that the Jime governorship project would ever fly or that the PDP would reenter the Benue Government House in 2015 through the back door. “Chief Dr Ortom’s nomination in the APC was validly concluded in accordance with the party’s constitution and guidelines in compliance with the Electoral Act. “The APC had amended its constitution last October to make provision for new entrants to contest for positions on the party’s platform within one day of their entry and for affirmation to be made in case of consensus candidates where primaries are impracticable. “Yes, there are court cases with regard to Chief Dr Ortom’s nomination but his lawyers have a rock solid defence. There is therefore, no basis whatsoever for anxiety over anyone taking over Governor Ortom’s seat.” Source: http://dailypost.ng/2015/06/29/no-cause-for-alarm-pdp-cannot-unseat-ortom-benue-apc/ cc: seun, lalasticla, dygeasy, ishilove |
It is amusing to read what the National Publicity Secretary of the defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh, considers a 30 days appraisal of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration. He wants Nigerians to join hands in prayers for the government, so that things would begin to move. What he does not know is that Nigerians had long formed such coalition. They are hands in hands, and that was what gave victory to President Buhari in the March 28, 2015 poll. They had teamed up to uproot an administration that had brought the country to her knees, and was about to tip her off the precipice. And Nigerians have resolved that never would they allow any government to divide them along regional, religious and ethnic fau lt lines again. The Buhari administration is naturally contemplative because there was absolutely no rhyme or reason to the way PDP ran the country, particularly in the immediate past dispensation. That is why the Augean Stable is being cleaned now, and it requires scrupulous and painstaking planning. Across all sectors, our national life was devalued, and it takes meticulousness and sure-footedness to repair all the breaches. This, the Buhari administration will deliver. Metuh talks of people round the President conniving with bureaucrats to syphon money from the treasury. This must be deja vu, as it was the pastime of the immediate past administration, and the enormity of the sleaze will be evident when stolen money, to the tune of billions of dollars, is recovered, and returned to the national treasury soon. In the process of time, after all that is being planned by the current administration has matured, and bearing fruits, Nigerians will be able to determine who is serving them acceptably, and who has taken them for a ride. It is just a matter of time. Meanwhile, Metuh and his masters can only rue the missed opportunities to make salutary impact on the lives of Nigerians. They have a long road of regrets to travel. A religious sect identified as “Yanlabaiku, which preaches doctrines similar to those of Boko Haram is currently in its infancy with 100 members at its base in Gwadangwaji, near Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi state, Daily Trust reports. While no violence has been associated with the activities of the group, it is reported to be against western education and is currently holding public preaching, meetings and processions to draw more converts to their cause. According to the newspaper, members of the group are equally called “Yanlokoloko”, said to be one of the names of one of its leaders, Ismaila Lokoloko, who is assisted by one Bala Amadu. It was gathered that the group is opposed to one of the major teachings of the Islamic religion – the five daily prayers – as it allegedly preaches against offering them as Islam dictates. With a slogan that identifies them as putting their belief in their Sheikh above God, Yanlokoloko are said to willingly surrender their wives to spend the night with their important visitors, especially scholars from the group. The report claimed that the group’s leaders were part of a group that was based in Niger State before it was disbanded by government. Some of the present leaders relocated to Borno and Yobe states while others relocated to Niger Republic where they might have had direct contact with the Boko Haram. “You might have noticed that their criticism of the five daily prayers which is a compulsory act in Islam is synonymous with the teachings of the sect sacked from Niger State, while the Boko Haram is known to oppose Western education. The issue of sharing their wives with their scholars is a known practice by some sects in the early 70s,” the source said. Speaking anonymously, residents of the area say: “the group used to converge at Malam Labarasi’s residence in Gwadangwaji. Most of us don’t pray in their mosque. We did not pay much attention to them because until we started seeing journalists and other people coming to ask questions, we never knew them.” Source: http://dailypost.ng/2015/06/26/boko-haram-like-sect-emerges-in-kebbi/?wt=3 |

SENATORS of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Wednesday, defied the leadership of the party, by going ahead to name potential candidates for Senate leadership positions. The APC had, in a letter written by its national chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, addressed to Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, asked the lawmakers to name Senator Ahmad Lawan as Senate leader, George Akume as his deputy, Sola Adeyeye as chief whip and Abu Ibrahim as deputy whip. But Saraki, who addressed a meeting of the APC caucus in the Senate on Tuesday, had suggested that zonal caucuses of the party should be made to produce the four leadership positions. Though the meeting ended in near fisticuffs, it was gathered that most of the senators elected on the platform of the party had agreed with the position. On Wednesday, it was gathered that the lawmakers dissolved into zonal caucuses to name likely candidates for the positions. Sources in the Senate told the Nigerian Tribune that the position of the Senate President held sway, as senators of the APC eventually agreed on the four candidates that would emerge on the leadership posts. It was gathered that following the intervention of governors of the party and words from some influential members, Saraki had called his loyalists and expressed readiness to work with Senator Lawan, but at the caucus meeting of the zone, Senator Ali Ndume emerged after a straw poll. It was also learnt that Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima, a former governor of Zamfara State, offered to step down for Senator Bala Ibn Na'allah from Kebbi State as deputy leader. Nigerian Tribune gathered that Senator Sola Adeyeye emerged as the consensus candidate for the post of Senate chief whip from the South West, while Senator Francis Alimikhana from Edo State is to emerge as deputy chief whip. It is expected that Saraki would announce the names of the candidates on the floor of the Senate. It was gathered that a meeting of governors and caucuses helped in dousing the brewing tension in the party, as some former governors in the Senate concluded that Senator Sani Yerima should step down so that it would not seem as if the ex-governors had hijacked the Senate. At the floor of the Senate on Wednesday, attempts by Senator Gbenga Ashafa to force the Senate president to read a correspondence from the APC national chairman were rebuffed, as he ruled him out of order. Ashafa had raised Orders 15, 28(1), 29(1), 30 and 31(4) of the Senate Standing Orders and asked the Senate president to read a letter he said had been delivered to his office. “Yesterday, most of the media houses published stories that a letter was written by the chairman of our great party, the APC, and we were expecting that that letter, which has been received in your office, will be read in order to see to the resolution of the party leadership tussle. “I believe that that letter should have been read to the hearing of all senators here present. Perhaps, that will be the solution to the leadership tussle in the Senate,” he had said. But Senator Ibn Na'Allah countered the motion, saying Order 28 of the Senate Standing Orders would not support Ashafa’s claims. Saraki, thereafter, ruled Ashafa out of order, saying “I have listened to Senators Ashafa and Na'allah. Going by the rules and what has been said earlier, I think I will just note what Senator Ashafa has said and we will leave the matter as that. And in that case, I rule that out of order.” The senators then dissolved to zonal caucuses where they named those expected to occupy the positions. Govs meet Buhari PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari and governors elected on the platform of APC waded into the leadership crisis tearing apart members of the party in the National Assembly. Senator Saraki had emerged the Senate President against Senator Ahmed Lawan, the preferred candidate of the party, just as Honourable Yakubu Dogara was elected the Speaker of the House of Representatives rather than Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, handpicked by the party. The president met with the governors from Tuesday night till the early hours of Wednesday, during which the governors expressed dismay over the lawmakers’ attitude in apparently shunning the position of the party in the distribution of the remaining party posts at both chambers of the National Assembly. The Presidential Villa meeting, which started at about 11.00 p.m., held behind closed doors. However, briefing State House correspondents at the end of the meeting, both Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and Governor Adams Oshiomhonle of Edo State revealed that the governors had resolved to press for the implementation of the APC’s position in the sharing of the remaining posts and would want the lawmakers to abide by the party’s decision. Okorocha explained that the governors were worried about the development in the National Assembly and, therefore, were at the Presidential Villa to confer with the president on the way forward. Revealing that the APC governors had decided to invite the senators, he decried what he called “winners-take-all” attitude and stressed the need for all to be carried along. Also speaking, Oshiomhole reiterated the need for APC senators to accept the decision of the party’s leadership in the sharing of the remaining party positions. “Basically, what we are saying is that the senators should adopt the position of the party. We were all elected on the platform of the party. We are not just a collection of individuals. We are a political party and when the party has spoken, we must listen,” he said. Governors from 16 of the 22 states controlled by the APC were in attendance at the meeting. Absent were governors of Lagos, Zamfara, Ogun, Sokoto, Yobe and Bauchi states. Reps caucuses reject Gbajabiamila, Monguno The North Central and South East caucus of the House of Representatives, on Wednesday, rejected the list of principal officers proposed by the party. Briefing newsmen, leader of the North Central caucus in the House, Honourable Ahman Pategi, said the party’s position was taken without due consultation with the caucus. He added that they were shocked when the party stated in the said publications that they arrived at the decision after due consultation. “We are also amazed by the directive of the party to the leadership of the House to take necessary action on the purported choice made by the party, which we see as a clear usurpation of the powers of the zonal caucuses and their members, as guaranteed by the constitution and the standing rules of the House of Representatives. “We, therefore, strongly reject the purported selection by the party, which we see as being in conflict with the principle of the Federal Character, as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic,” Pategi said. To this end, he said that the North Central caucus believed that there should be fairness and equity in the selection of other principal positions of the House, following the emergence of both the speaker and deputy speaker. Also, the South-East caucus of the APC in the House rejected the party’s arrangement in choosing its principal officers, protesting that the leadership of the party, with the arrangement, excluded the zone. Addressing newsmen on behalf of the caucus, the duo of Honourables Chukwukere Ikechukwu and Chike Okoroafor advised the leadership of the party to go back to the drawing board and ensure that all the zones were adequately represented. http://tribuneonlineng.com/content/apc-senators-defy-party-fill-leadership-posts |
Abuja – The inter agency rivalry between the Department of State Services and the Nigerian Army came to end Wednesday as the Aide De Camp to the president, Lt. Col Abubakar Lawall ordered personnel of the DSS out of the Presidential Villa. The incidence which happened at the residence of the Villa was extended to all other points that had been manned by the personnel of the DSS. But the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity Femi Adesina said what happened was a realignment of security around the president which entailed that members of the armed forces would man the inner perimeter of the President security while operatives of the DSS would man the outer perimeter. It would be recalled that since assuming office as the President, there has been an intense rivalry between DSS personnel and the army On who is to provide close body security to the president. Some members of the armed forces were drafted from the infantry corps to the villa after the inauguration of President Buhari to man all the strategic points at the villa , a move that was resisted by the DSS personnel who had constitutionally provided close body protection to the president. From all indications, any moment from now GEJ administration would be put to test in a form of probe by this current govt, the questions is, is it necessary at this particular time? What is the rationale behind probing only the previous Admin when you can probe that last 16years of our democracy? Whats the yardstick used to arrived at probing only the previous Admin? What happen to Obj Admin? What happen to Abacha loot that was recovered during OBJ? How did they spend the money? What happen to the money spend on power during Obj regime? What happen to NNPC when Obj was the sole minister? Atleast Ngozie gave a plausible explanation on how they spend abacha loot recovered during their time, what of obj era? What happen to IBB regime? What of those people that benefited and made themselves lord over night during abacha with no means of business but are richer than some states? Why not probe all those that steal tax payers money from 1966 after the first coup? I think we need to probe what happen to our money within the last 16 years of this our hard Earned democracy, with all sense of decency the previous Admin need to be probed but shouldn't stop there alone, we need to go back a bit from obj era so that that whole probe should not be seen as a "witch hunt"? Or what do you think, over to you pundits. |
The Borno State House of Assembly on Wednesday slashed the number of Special Advisers to the Governor from 40 to 20. Governor Kashim Shettima had sent list of 40 nominees to the Assembly, but the members approved 20. The Speaker, Alhaji Abdulkarim Lawal, said at the plenary session that the reduction was due to the state’s financial position, as well as to check the cost of governance. The motion for the reduction of the number of advisers was moved by Alhaji Mohammad Zakari, the House Leader. In another development, the speaker announced the appointment of Mr Ayuba Wukawa, representing Hawul Constituency, as the Deputy House Leader, and Alhaji Audu Mustapha, representing Magumeri Constituency as the Chief Whip. The lady who offered House and a Car for marriage, Zainab Abdulmalik has been admitted at the Dawanau Psychiatric Hospital, Daily Trust learnt from her family and hospital sources. Zainab who lured hundreds of youth with a car and house offer last Wednesday was admitted on Sunday at the hospital. Last week Tuesday, she announced on a local radio station, her intention to offer a gift of car to anybody who would marry her. In a telephone interview, the head of the hospital, Malam Abubakar Ibrahim confirmed the admission of the lady, saying she has been their patient for long. “Yes she is on admission in our hospital but this is not the first time she would be brought here. She has been an outpatient for long but she was brought here at the weekend,” he said. One of her relatives (name withheld) said she was taken to the hospital because her mental challenge worsened after she picked one of the suitors that thronged to the freedom radio to marry her. “She was stable until when she was betrayed by somebody who promised to marry her after collecting money from her last year. Since then she developed mental problem and she has been on and off at the psychiatric hospital. “Her condition relapsed at the weekend that was why she was taken to the hospital. If you go there now, you will see her because she is on admission,” he said. Our correspondent gathered from one of her neighbours in Ayagi area of Kano state that the person that jilted her has been sued to court. “The guy’s parents live in Gandun Albasa area of Kano. When he was taken to court, he promise to be paying N50,000 monthly to refund her money,” he said. He added that “we grew up with her and she was not having mental challenge until when the guy betrayed her. I used to be accompanying her to the guy’s parents house,” Jazuli Rabiu said. Buhari vows To Recover Billions Of Dollars Stolen By President Jonathan And His Ministers In The Next Three Months President Muhammadu Buhari Tuesday in Abuja assured State Governors that the days of impunity, lack of accountability, and fiscal recklessness in the management of national resources are over in Nigeria. Speaking at a meeting with the Governors in the Presidential Villa, President Buhari also vowed that funds stolen by government officials who abused their offices in the recent past will be recovered and systemic leakages stopped. "There are financial and administrative instructions in every government parastatal and agency. But all these were thrown to the dogs in the past. Honestly, our problems are great, but we will do our best to surmount them. "The next three months may be hard, but billions of dollars can be recovered, and we will do our best, " the President told the governors. Expressing surprise that the governors had tolerated the atrocities allegedly committed with the Excess Crude Account since 2011, President Buhari promised to tackle the issue decisively. The President declared that the payment of national revenue into any account other than the Federation Account was an abuse of the constitution, adding that what he had heard was going on in many agencies and corporations, particularly the NNPC, was clearly illegal. On the refund of monies spent on federal projects by state governments, President Buhari assured the governors that the Federal Government will pay, but insisted that due process must be followed. The President promised special assistance for the three North Eastern states badly affected by the Boko Haram insurgency. He also said that a comprehensive statement on the economic and financial situation inherited by his administration will be made to the nation within the next four weeks. "We will try and put the system back into the right position. What happened in the 2nd Republic has apparently happened again, and even worse, but we will restore sanity to the system," President Buhari assured the Governors. On an immediate lifeline for states that owe salaries running into many months, President Buhari said that a committee headed by the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, will look at the Excess Crude Account and see what can be shared immediately Source:http://saharareporters.com/2015/06/23/buhari-vows-recover-billions-dollars-stolen-president-jonathan-and-his-ministers-next |
Former President Goodluck Jonathan awarded 72 licences for Radio broadcasting to his political associates and friends few weeks before the end of his administration using irregular procedures and documentation. Findings by Daily Trust on the allocations list showed that Jonathan’s friends and key members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) such as Chief Bode George, Ibadan-born industrialist, and chairman of the finance committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Otunba Funso Lawal, an oil mogul and a friend to the former president, Chief Emeka Offor, among others were among the beneficiaries. Others are former National Chairman of the PDP Chief Barnabas Gemade, national coordinator of the Transformation Ambassadors of Nigeria (TAN) Patrick Ubah as well as some former ministers Olajumoke Akinjide and Labaran Maku among others. Some of the irregularities discovered by Daily Trust in the allocation process include the politicians use of companies not registered to run as broadcasting companies to acquire the licenses. This was against the procedure for obtaining a broadcast licence as stipulated by the National Broadcasting Commission Act No. 38 of 1992 (as amended). Checks at the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) show that Bod- Gee Ventures Nigeria Limited, the company used by Bode George is into trading, supply and distribution or commission agents, while Bavis Investment Limited owned by Gemade is an investment and holding company. The company of the former minister of states Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) Mrs Jumoke Akinjide got the broadcasting license with a company called Newman Investment Company Limited, registered in 1991 to carry on business of manufacturer, general contracts, sales and industrialist. Former Chairman of the finance committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation Otunba Funso Lawal got the broadcasting license using company called Charter House Communications limited registered in April 2015. The company is a Lagos-based consulting and financial advisory services group. The TAN’s coordinator Ubah used Hero Security Services Limited to acquire the broadcasting license. The company registered initially as Hero Planet Communications Limited in 2003 but changed name to Hero Security Services Limited in 2008. Its memorandum of association did not contain broadcasting but to carry on business as a security services provider and in that capacity to provide any person, corporate or individuals with the services of guardsmen, guards dogs etc. Another license goes to Speed Concepts Nigeria Limited, the company which belonged to a close associate of the former governor of Bayelsa state, Dieprieye Solomon P Alamieyeseigha, Mr Ehigie Edobor Uzamere. He is a Niger Delta politician who was elected to the Senate in 2007. Speed Concept is registered to carry on the business of trading, marketing, sales and distribution of general goods, commission agents, manufacturer’ representatives, to buy, sell, manufacturer’s representatives and deal in all articles substances etc. Classy Communication Network Ltd belongs to Head of Civil Service of the federation and family, Mr Danladi Irmiya Kifasi. He registered the company in 2005 to carry on business as communications, telecommunications company and information technology services GSM agents and services. Salama Radio & Media is religious based station with some prominent northern Christians as promoters. However, section 10 of the NBC Act disqualifies religious organisations and political parties from the grant of a broadcast license. The key among promoters of the Salama Radio are Pastor Nuhu Kure Emmanuel of Throne Room Church, Kafanchan, Kaduna state. Directors in the Salama company include the former minister of information Mr Labaran Maku, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Martin Agwai, former Director General of the Standard Organisation of Nigeria, John Akanya, and former commandant of the Nigerian Defense Academy, Air Vice Marshal John Odey and Mrs Kure Martha. Petals Media Limited is founded by Peter Yinka Odumakin, spokesperson of Afenifere. His company also has no mention of broadcasting in its memorandum of association. When contacted yesterday on why NBC issued licences to companies with no broadcasting in their memorandum of association and some others with affiliations to religion as well to many companies in Abuja and Lagos where media houses are already saturated, the NBC’s director general Mr Emeka Mba simply said all that are not true. In his response to text message sent to him by our reporter, Mba said: “That my friend is not true.” But he didn’t comment further. kandiikane:Well like I said earlier we choose how to live and how to live it, what may be seen private to you might not be seen as "private " to another person, the only road to succesfull marriage is to always ask for permission not to be sniffing around looking for something that you don't even know how to handle it, take for instance your wife checked your messages and saw tones of text from other woman not a single reply from you, how do think she will take it? Majority of women will think you were flirting with all the women, if you said no she will ask you how did they manage to get your number? As if it's a rocket science to get number and in actual sense those women are looking for way to get into your life but u shut them up in your own way by not replying them. Keeping secret is bad in any relationship same as sniffing into ones private things without permission, if there is nothing private in marriage why is your wife not aware of your bank acc digits? Am yet to see any man that will indulge all his secrets to his wife, including his worthness. I will advise women and men to be patient with their partners and never have the notion that you own your partner, a wise husband will always try to keep his wife away from depression, sadness by keeping things he did but in the past and present that will hurt her private in as much as she will be safe from not knowing. |
brownie10:My sister, didn't have much time to go 2ru all the response my fellow country men gave you, but I will advise you not to panic but you need all your strength and maturity to pass 2ru thi, I have two advise for you base on purely logical thinking and religious background anyone you choose be rest assured that your conscious will never disturb you, Logical Reason Maturity comes with ability to think ahead before shit hit the fans; what he did was wrong and what you did also was wrong to go 2ru his personal stuff, what if it is what it is? That's everything that happens in the past has been left or send to recycle bin? We are all guilty of one or more things that none of us are proud of, but we have to live with it sometimes it becomes a scar in our psyche that we don't want to be reminded upon, for him to do such few weeks to your wedding shows a person that is not committed to one woman relationship or at best one that can't stay for long without secx, and it shows how irresponsible the man was in the past cuz no evidence to suggest he is still indulge in it, so you Nedd to study him to know whether he has put all this things behind, if you found out that he has putting everything in the past I advise you not to confront him cuz somebody that is willing to changecuz of you will never repeat such heinous and barbaric act, but if doesn't change, I advise you to stay away from him cuz you will never have a happy marriage or happy home. Always remember there is no act that is too big to be forgiven especially in marriage act and also there is no act too small to be overlooked in marriage it all depends on how you feel about your partner. Religious Remember everything that happens took place before your wedding Mathew 6:14-15 reads 14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. 1 John 1:9 reads 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. Isiah 43:25 reads 25 "I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more. 26 Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence. According to Quran Whether you reveal a good act or keep it hidden, or pardon an evil act, Allah is Ever-Pardoning, All-Powerful. (Surat An-Nisa, 149) The repayment of a bad action is one equivalent to it. But if someone pardons and puts things right, his reward is with Allah. Certainly He does not love wrongdoers. (Surat Ash-Shura, 40) Any disaster that strikes you is through what your own hands have earned and He pardons much. (Surat Ash-Shura, 30) May God guide you and ease your pains. Ameen |

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has accused Governor Ayodele Fayose of awarding himself N720 million as arrears of his unfinished first term as the state’s governor. Fayose was controversially impeached by the then state House of Assemby when he was governor between May 29, 2003 and October 2006. Describing the action as unjustifiable, especially when workers and pensioners in the state were yet to receive their salaries, the party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Taiwo Olatubosun, noted in a statement that the governor has not paid workers their last September salary arrears and has also not paid pensioners in the last four months. But the governor, through his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, immediately waved off the allegation, describing it as falsehood. The APC statement said, “Gov Fayose left office on October 16, 2006, eight months to the end of his tenure and Ekiti State had had three governors within that period. Does it then make any sense that the same Fayose would come back eight years after to approve payment already made to three governors after him for himself? “Let’s even assume that the eight months salary is to be paid. Is the monthly salary of a governor more than N1m? How then does, say N1m per month, equal N720m in eight months? “Again, severance allowance is 300 per cent of annual basic salary and the basic salary of a governor is not more than N2m. So can N2m in three places be equal to N720m? The APC publicity secretary described as “shameful and heartless” the Gov Fayose’s refusal to pay the statutory N5,000 pensions benefit to elders in the state under the social security scheme put in place by his predecessor, Dr Kayode Fayemi. The party also accused the governor of refusal to pay traditional rulers for five months, while also refusing to pay gratuity to a single retired worker since he assumed office. The statement added, “Though he admitted he is owing only May salary (as if he has any excuse to owe Ekiti workers for one day), as we write, over 10,000 Ekiti workers are yet to receive their April salaries. This is because not all workers he claimed to have paid have actually received their salaries. What he has been doing is to pay 10 out of 300 workers in a ministry and then goes to town with his propagandists that he has fully paid. Only last week, he electronically paid N13m into the accounts of each of the 16 local governments and collected the cash back from the council chairmen for purported joint projects, like he did in his fraudulent poultry project in 2004.” The APC challeged the governor to explain what he is doing with the monies he saved from the empowerment programmes he reportedly cancelled. Responding, Adelusi stated, “This is simply falsehood promoted to the most ridiculous level and we wish the APC spokesperson, Taiwo Olatubosun, well in his lying assignment.” http://www.thecomplex.ng/?p=3146 |
The Ahmed Joda-led transition committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to prune the number of federal ministries from 28 to 19. In its report seen by TheCable, the advisory committee recommended that Buhari should have only 19 senior ministers, while 17 ministers of state should be appointed, bringing the total to 36 in fulfillment of the constitutional requirement of one minister per state.: http://www.thecable.ng/exclusive-joda-committee-asks-buhari-appoint-19-senior-ministers

While Nigerians are still wondering why President Muhammadu Buhari has not moved into the official residence, Aso Rock Villa; information reaching Secrets Reporters through Dr Idris Ahmed, a cryptology expert and founder of Citizens United for Peace and Security (CUPS) revealed that the ex army general is flushing out some life threatening equipments in the place. We gathered that the Department of Secret Service (DSS), led by Mr Ita Ekpeyong hired an Israeli security company to plant bugs throughout the presidential villa to enable him and his cronies monitor all the activities of the first family and government decisions. This spy objects for monitoring the President was carried out by one Widi Liman, who was a former personal assistant to the DG and now the President Administrative Officer at the villa, from where he can monitor his surveillance equipment and report back to his boss. Buhari who gave a strict directive to the Army, Navy and the DSS to furnish him with the list of personnel who are in the services of the Presidential security to enable him screen the officers of the villa before they are posted never got it from the DSS while the rest complied. Surprisingly on 10th June 2015, the DG posted 253 selected men to the presidential villa, without the knowledge of the president. They were however turned back to their various stations. We present to the full list of the SSS officials and their dangerous roles during the 2015 elections and their reward for such, as furnished by Dr. Idris. Chris Olukolade, director of defence information, says the camps of Boko Haram insurgents raided with air strikes by the Chadian military are located in Niger – and not Nigeria as widely believed. Olukolade said the clarification became necessary in order to prevent “unnecessary sensationalism from any quarter”, noting that troops of both countries were working together to end insurgency. “The places reported to have been struck by the Chadians are most likely to be in Niger Republic and not Nigeria as widely reported in the international media,” he said in a statement. “The fact is that the Nigerian air force surveillance mission identified targets tagged as Camp 6 around Bosso town, which is not within Nigeria’s territory and alerted the partners accordingly. “Although the terms of the multilateral and bilateral understanding with partners in the war against terror allow some degree of hot pursuit against the terrorists, the territory of Nigeria has not been violated as insinuated in the reports circulated in some foreign media. “The Nigerian military will continue to cooperate with partners in the mission to exterminate or contain terrorists strictly in conformity with existing terms of the concept of operation at strategic, operational or tactical levels. “It is however important that issues are accurately reported while avoiding misleading or unnecessary sensationalism from any quarter.” The Chadian military had earlier claimed that the camps targeted were situated in the country, adding that the operation was in retaliation of the attack of the insurgents in N’Djamena, capital of its country, on Monday. More than 20 people died in the attack. Read more at: http://www.thecable.ng/chadian-troops-bombed-niger-not-nigeria |
noblezone:Your are wrong on your premises so is your conclusion, it's true there is nothing police can do when a woman decides to feed rat poison to her family, but the fallacy here is, you are basin your conclusion on her actions, and we all know reactions and actions goes hand in hand, if there is no reaction there won't be action, take for instance, the woman was not allowed to voiced out her concern or someone decides to impose his will on her thinking she will come to terms with it or the husband is guilty of molestation, treating the woman like slave, all this will lead to such ending, as a leader or force, laws are made to forestall either future occurrences or before such things happen, laws are meant to serve as a deterrence to would-be, for that past 6years not a single member of BH was successfully tried and convicted! What does that tell you? Intelligence community have failed, criminals are allowed to walk free once they have friends in power a clear case is bode George; he was convicted and sentenced during Yar Adua regime only for him to gain his freedom with a hero welcome under jona, not a single person was convicted through out the mass cleansing and ethinic genocide that is happening in jos and taraba, what does that tell you? It's ok to be criminal cuz our laws can't punish you. A woman that serve rat poison to her husband supposed to be convicted and sentenced no matter how minor she is, No condition warrant anybody to take another man's life, and the process that leads to this woman committing such things must be thoroughly investigated and any culprit found wanted should also be sentence I don't believe in clemency when live is involved cuz the other person can't defend himself. Nobody should be and nobody is above the law |

Senate President Bukola Saraki has denied that federal lawmakers get N9billion wardrobe allowance. He also said there were plans by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) to reduce salaries and allowances of federal lawmakers. Saraki, who stated this on his Twitter handle yesterday after meeting with the RMAFC boss, said the annual wardrobe allowance for each senator is N506,600 per annum, about N2.25 million for their four-year tenure. He also absolved lawmakers of indiscriminately allocating monies to themselves, and said that RMAFC had the sole responsibility of fixing their remuneration, adding that the Commission would soon publish details of their allowances on its website. “RMAFC was in my office to clarify (that) wardrobe allowance is N506,600 per senator. I have just been informed that RMFAC will be publishing details of allowances on their website. “With the current challenge we are facing as a nation, RMAFC will be reviewing allowances to reflect the current economic trend. Fixing remuneration is sole responsibility of RMAFC,” the Senate president said. LEADERSHIP recalls that there were media reports that a member of House Representatives collects N17.5 million as wardrobe allowance annually, while a senator receives about N21.5 million. Former director of legal services of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Abdulqadir Abubakar Gumi (retd), has said that for the Boko Haram sect to be crushed completely, the North must rise up in unison and adopt defence mechanisms peculiar and suitable to its brand of tradition. Gumi, who is a son of the revered late Grand Khadi of Northern Nigeria, Sheik Abubakar Gumi, and brother of Kaduna-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Mahmud Gumi, noted that apart from the ongoing effort by the federal government, the Muslim community in the country had the obligation to complement the fight against the insurgents. |
Gumi noted that Boko Haram would not have become a national security menace if former President Olusegun Obasanjo had reined in the activities of its founder, Mohammed Yusuf, and those he accused of practising “political Sharia” while he was in power. The 33-page discourse which he entitled “The Cloaked One”, laced with analogies and quotations from Islamic jurisprudence and Common laws, recalled that Sheikh Jaafar Adam (of blessed memory) had alerted the government (of Olusegun Obasanjo) and anyone who cared to listen then that late Muhammad Yusuf was up to some dangerous games in very good time but no one listened to him.” He observed that the administration of Chief Obasanjo wasted time by playing politics with religion. “Consequently, even when Jaafar Adam was mowed down, it could not trigger a suspicion or reaction to use the clergy as the counter narrative solution against the BH group.” Muslim clerics, he said “continued to fall until fear gripped the flock as to jettison any other solution outside of waiting for the military resolve,” because of the lethargy of the Obasanjo presidency. He queried the efficacy of the military solution, saying six years after the death of its founder, the group had become even stronger and more daring. In Gumi’s opinion, if Obasanjo had prevented the Zamfara State government under Ahmad Sani Yerima from introducing what it called Sharia criminal law, the risk of misinterpreting the Islamic penal code would have been averted. He argued that the application of Sharia by Yerima and his co-travellers “was not only hard on Muslims in ‘uquba’, but amateurish and narrow in perception. It sent dangerous signal to the public that the Nigeria project had sidelined Sharia criminal law and that Muslims had been marginalized before then, not minding the modest achievements yet in place.” According to Gumi, if there is anybody to blame for the current travails of Muslims and the North, it is Obasanjo. “He has been on the scene for too long to claim innocence, and for his own quality and experience. He has danced along the fault lines of secular and religious Nigeria since 1975 when, as head of state, he collected missionary schools from the churches and Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and simultaneously recruited retired soldiers to government schools to impose corporal discipline in place of clergy and moral dominance in our schools. “He again supervised and restored the first walkout of Muslim representatives to the constitution drafting committee of 1979 and was again to benefit from another similar walkout in 1999 after which he became the next civilian president”. Gumi described Obasanjo’s handling of the ‘political Sharia’ introduced by Yerima as ’reckless and extra-judicial.’ “His government denied the federal courts an adjudicative opportunity that could assuage the situation to probably fill in the gaps that Sharia needed to have natural growth and level-playing field like any other sensitive aspect of our lives. “The various legislative houses at different levels were consequently also denied the opportunity to pick up better initiatives from the judiciary, to carry on together with the executive arm the Sharia discourse and development across those places it needed to make positive inroads like all other matters of common concerns.” Incidentally, he noted, President Obasanjo was privy to the robust role of the judiciary in all matters that included politics, like in the interpretation of two-thirds of 19 states and many more pursued by Nigerian courts which mainly also upheld public policy to the wide acclaim of Nigerians. “Methinks Obasanjo knew the greater implications to the polity and that was why he was bent on a third term to manage it fair enough. When the third term bid failed, Baba Obasanjo could only be scanty to the incoming Yar’Adua/Jonathan‘s regimes over the full brief to the Sharia crisis and its logical link with the BH for them to remain clueless in its management. “The guilt may explain why Obasanjo remained too interested as to seek compensation to the BH leader’s family even ahead of the government initiative while prescribing a carrot and stick approach to the counter insurgency effort. “On the sight of a free and fair election, Obasanjo was again quick to shift ground, dance and arrive at the change pulpit even before the imam’s arrival in order to assure himself of a credible role thereafter,” he contended. Similarly, Gumi observed, former president Obasanjo, who introduced what the retired one-star general called “so many laudable national projects” that could have stopped the insecurity at the earliest stage, shirked his responsibility by failing to implement them. He cited the National ID card and the registration of mobile phone lines as measures that could have come in handy to nip the Boko Haram criminality in the bud. Gumi also said that the sales of federal government landed properties made alienation and social exclusion issues that heightened tension in many states of the North. “The attitude”, he concluded, “gave the room for system arbitrariness, adjustments, corruption and impugned consequences.” Source: http://leadership.ng/news/441037/only-north-muslims-can-defeat-bharam-gen-gumi |
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as a product of poor thinking and deliberate mischief the statement credited to a group, called the PDP Media Watchdog, asking President Muhammadu Buhari to resign because of his comments over his age. The PDP has denied any link to the group. But in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed, the APC said if the authors of the statement had understood simple English, taken the pains to engage in deep thinking and contextualized the comments, they would not have rushed to the press to ask the President to resign. ”What President Buhari was saying, which was lost on those who issued that jejune statement, is that only his love and passion for the country could have made him, at his age, to come out of retirement to seek the office of President, over 30 years after he presided over the affairs of the country. ”For 16 years, Nigerians gave the PDP the benefit of the doubt to move the country forward, but instead, the party put Nigeria in reverse gear at a high speed, spinning it towards a doomsday that was only averted when Nigerians showed the PDP the red card. This is what necessitated President Buhari to continuously seek the country’s highest political office, so he can help put the country on a forward march again. Nothing else matters, not for him the excitement of an office he previously held and the quest for personal accomplishment. If the country had been well managed, President Buhari will not at 72 be crisscrossing the whole world seeking solution to Nigeria’s problems, it said. APC said within three weeks of his inauguration, President Buhari has succeeded in returning Nigeria to the comity of nations, to such an extent that world leaders are now so eager to engage him on how to assist his country in key areas, including security and the fight against corruption. ”Within three weeks of President Buhari’s inauguration, he had done what the PDP government could not do in six years: Invigorate the fight against Boko Haram by rallying a regional and global front against the terror group. Today, the US has pledged to give $5 million for the fight against Boko Haram, in addition to other material support. This is apart from the support that has been pledged by the G-7 for Nigeria’s efforts to quell the insurgency. ”Thanks to President Buhari’s shuttle diplomacy, the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) that the PDP government could not bring together for all of six years is ready to deploy next month, while the President has ordered the release of $21 million to facilitate the establishment of the headquarters of the force in N’Djamena, Chad. ”Since assuming office about three weeks ago, President Buhari has visited Chad, Niger, Germany and South Africa, winning support and friends for Nigeria all over again and returning the country to the comity of respected nations. Those who were put off by the PDP government’s resort to politicizing the fight against Boko Haram – even as the insurgents grew stronger – are now joining President Buhari to battle the terrorists. In no distant future, the results of his tireless efforts will begin to show. ”On the domestic front, President Buhari has been handling pressing issues far away from the klieg light, and his efforts to assemble a first class team to implement his change mantra, which he is personally driving, are continuing apace. We in the APC, and we are sure most unbiased Nigerians, are very proud of President Buhari and the vigour he has shown in governance, the kind of vigour we did not see in the immediate past administration that was presided over by a far younger man,” the party said. It said only anarchists and non-democrats will ask a President who has not spent one month in office to resign, adding: ”It rankles when those making these calls are from the ranks of the party that failed to avail itself creditably in 16 years.” APC said it has deliberately refused to join issues with the PDP, which has been issuing a series of insipid press statements that showed clearly that the party is not ready to provide a robust opposition to the APC-led federal government. ”For the umpteenth time, we say that the PDP and its satellite bodies must realize that in order to be relevant, credible and to make the necessary impact, they must pick on real issues and articulate them intelligently, rather than latching on to trite matters. This very amateurish display won’t get them anywhere,” the party said. Source: http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/185252-apc-lambasts-group-asking-buhari-to-resign.html |
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has cautioned former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso against incendiary utterances capable of destabilizing the National Assembly and rubbishing the prevailing political tranquility in the country. PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh in a statement on Tuesday said the party was particularly shocked by the hate statement from Senator Kwankwaso wherein he used offensive language on the PDP and its members in the National Assembly. The party said it was “taken aback by the venom and bitterness in the statement especially coming from a former governor, an elected senator, a highly respected former member of the PDP, who also benefitted hugely from the party as minister and two-time state governor. The PDP said it would have wished not to join issues with politicians who grew their political profile in the party no matter where they are at the moment, but regretted that “Senator Kwankwaso went too far in declaring the party dead just because he is aggrieved that the Senate Presidency did not go his way.” It said it was “indecorous, mischievous and misleading for anybody to declare a party with an enviable history as the PDP, with 14 state governors, 47 Senators and hundreds of members in the House of Representatives and State Houses of Assembly dead.” “Where was Senator Kwankwaso when a party he claimed was dead defeated his choice candidate in the Senate? Was it a dead party that was able to do what according to Kwankwaso, no other party could do in the 16 years of PDP control of the National Assembly? “Indeed, we found it very baffling that such unguarded statement came from a person who contested for the high office of the president of Nigeria. Statements from such personalities should be decorous, statesmanly and focused on the national interest instead of promoting acrimony and division in the polity. This unfortunate outburst is well below Senator Kwankwaso’s character and status and we urge him to desist from such”, the PDP said. The party underlined that Senator Kwankwaso and other APC leaders should rather be grateful to PDP senators for being disciplined and not using their preponderance at the inauguration to take the entire leadership of the Senate following the opening created by the APC leaders in convening a meeting of senators-elect at the same time fixed for the election of the leaders of the National Assembly. Furthermore, the PDP dismissed as frivolous, Senator Kwakwaso’s unfounded and unsubstantiated claim that PDP’s agenda’s is to irritate President Muhammadu Buhari and put hurdle before him. It recalled that it had repeatedly assured that it would help the government by providing robust and constructive opposition that would help his government unlike APC’s hate opposition, adding that such baseless complains would not stop Nigerians from holding the APC-led federal government responsible on its campaign promises. The party also described as laughable, Senator Kwankwaso’s claims that under President Buhari, everything is working well in the country and wondered why he failed to give the credit for the stability in the nation to whom it is due, immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan whose conceding of power even amidst electoral irregularities brought the conducive atmosphere the nation is enjoying today. It noted with delight the statesmanly stance of President Buhari who at the just concluded African Union (AU) summit in South Africa eulogised former President Jonathan for taking the unique action that brought calm to the country. On Kwakwaso’s claim of giving 1.9 million votes from his state and over 750,000 votes from his senatorial zone to Buhari and APC, the PDP said it does not want to join issues with him on that because of its decision to toe the path of peace except to note the electoral ridicule of 1.9 million voters, with no single void vote, a record for the Guinness Book. The PDP therefore advised Senator Kwankwaso and others like him who may still be aggrieved about the turn of events at the National Assembly to see it as democracy in action and note that the two major religions in the country hold that only God gives power and that if He did not destine that Senators Bukola Saraki and Ike Ekweremadu, would emerge President and Deputy President of the 8th Senate respectively, it would not have been so.
