President Muhammadu Buhari has assured Nigerians and the international community that no corrupt politician, either in his All Progressives Congress (APC) or in the opposition Peoples Democratic party (PDP), will escape justice. Buhari gave the assurance on Tuesday evening in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. Read more at: http://www.thecable.ng |
Hope is based on merit not based on Biafra pressure. Cuz the biafrans have already made their decision to stick to the old ways and dine with PDP when it so obvious the party is unpopular and sinking but yet This people stick to them. Wonder why the issue of Biafra never died out? They hate change and prefer the old ways aka status qou. |

President Barrack Obama on Monday expressed confidence in the ability of President Mihammadu Buhari to tackle the multiple challenges facing Nigeria. Obama gave the assurance in Washington DC, when he received President Muhammedu Buhari, who was on 4-day official visit to the U.S. According to him, Buhari has come with a clear agenda to tackle the problem of insecurity occasioned by the activities of Boko Haram sect as well as other violence criminal activities. Obama expressed appreciation to Buhari’s leadership style so far, saying that his administration would continue to assist and help Nigeria in overcoming its challenges. “It is a great pleasure to welcome President Buhari and his delegation here in the White House for his first visit since the historic election that took place “Nigeria is obviously one of the most important countries in the world, one of the most important countries in the African continent. “Recently, we saw an election in which a peaceful transition to a new government took place. Nevertheless, the people of Nigeria understand that only through a peaceful political process that can change takes place. “President Buhari came into office with reputation for integrity and a very clear agenda that is to make sure that he has been bringing safely security and peace to his country. “He is very concerned about the spread and the violence that is taking place there and the atrocities and has a very clear agenda in defeating Boko Haram and extremists. “I want to emphasised how much I appreciate President Buhari’s work so far. I have seen him put together a team so that we can do everything that we can to help him succeed and help the people of Nigeria succeed. This month, the world moved a step closer to the defeat of Boko Haram, the jihadist group that has terrorized hundreds of thousands in the northern states of Nigeria. In one of my first acts since taking office as president six weeks ago, I have replaced the heads of Nigeria’s army, navy and air force. Our new military leadership has not been chosen because of their familiarity with those in government, as was too often the case in the past, but on their track records and qualifications alone. These new military leaders will be based in Borno State in northern Nigeria, where the headquarters of the armed services has been relocated. This shift of resources and command directly to the front line, in addition to the replacement of the head of the State Security Service, Nigeria’s intelligence organization, and a new emphasis on working in partnership with our neighbors, has equipped us to take the fight directly to Boko Haram. Already we are beginning to see a degrading of Boko Haram’s capabilities as a fighting force. In recent weeks, it appears to have shifted away from confronting the military directly to an increase in attacks on civilian areas, as we saw only last week when an elderly woman and 10-year-old girl blew themselves up at a Muslim prayer gathering in northeastern Nigeria. We should not be confused by this change, hateful as it is: It does not mean that Boko Haram is succeeding in its aims — it shows that it is losing. While we work to defeat the terrorists, I ask the people of Nigeria and the world for resolve and fortitude. The campaign we will wage will not be easy; it may not be swift. We should expect stages of success and also moments when it may appear that our advances have been checked. But no one should have any doubt as to the strength of our collective will or my commitment to rid this nation of terror and bring back peace and normalcy to all affected areas. Similarly, my determination should not be underestimated in other matters. This includes instilling good governance and tackling the scourge of corruption that has held Nigeria back for too long. As I meet with President Obama today — the first time a president of the United States will encounter a Nigerian counterpart following the peaceful transfer of power in a contested election in our history — I will be discussing my plans for critical reforms. So, too, will I discuss why the formation of my administration is taking time and, crucially, why it must. Already there are voices saying these changes are taking too long — even though only six weeks have passed since my inauguration. I hear such calls, but this task cannot and should not be rushed. When cabinet ministers are appointed in September, it will be some months after I took the oath of office. It is worth noting that Obama himself did not have his full Cabinet in place for several months after first taking office; the United States did not cease to function in the interim. In Nigeria’s case, it would neither be prudent nor serve the interests of sound government to have made these appointments immediately on my elevation to the presidency; instead, Nigeria must first put new rules of conduct and good governance in place. I cannot stress how important it is to ensure that this process is carried out correctly, just as it has been crucial to first install the correct leadership of the military and security services before we fully take the fight to Boko Haram. There are too few examples in the history of Nigeria since independence where it can be said that good management and governance were instituted at a national level. This lack of a governance framework has allowed many of those in charge, devoid of any real checks and balances, to plunder. The fact that I now seek Obama’s assistance in locating and returning $150 billion in funds stolen in the past decade and held in foreign bank accounts on behalf of former, corrupt officials is testament to how badly Nigeria has been run. This way of conducting our affairs cannot continue. Indeed, the failure of governance, it can be argued, has been as much a factor in Nigeria’s inability thus far to defeat Boko Haram as have been issues with the military campaign itself. So the path we must take is simple, even if it is not easy: First, instill rules and good governance; second, install officials who are experienced and capable of managing state agencies and ministries; and third, seek to recover funds stolen under previous regimes so that this money can be invested in Nigeria for the benefit of all of our citizens. We seek the support and partnership of the United States in these tasks. The importance of the fight against terrorism and corruption in Nigeria, Africa’s most powerful economy and largest populace, cannot be underestimated. Our allies can provide much-needed military training and intelligence as our soldiers take the war effort to Boko Haram. Similarly, we look to U.S. businesses as well as the Obama administration to help develop governance initiatives that can ensure that Nigeria’s wealth benefits all its people, not just a few. By taking these steps, we will be positioned to benefit from increased investment — particularly in energy and electricity — from the United States. I was elected on a platform of change. I know this is what the people of Nigeria desire more than anything else. I know they are impatient for action. I realize the world waits to see evidence that my administration will be different from all those that came before. Yet reforming my country after so many years of abuse cannot be achieved overnight. In our campaigns against both Boko Haram and corruption, we should remain steadfast and remember, as it is said: “Have patience. All things become difficult before they become easy.” Source: http://tribuneonlineng.com/commentary-nigeria-committed-good-governance-and-fighting-terror-muhammadu-buhari cc- lalasticlala ishilove seun

Nigeria - Presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina has said that the multinational joint task force put together to battle the Boko Haram insurgency is expected swing into action on July 21st. Speaking during a Vanguard interview, he said Boko Haram can't just be kicked out as it'll require months of elaborate planning. "One day, the world woke up to hear that Osama bin Laden had been killed by the US Navy Seals. But did you know how long it took to plan that operation? It took 24 months of painstaking planning. Drills, simulations, all that happened until they got him. "I am not saying it is going to take 24 months before this government breaks the back of Boko Haram. I am just telling you that planning needs to be carefully done and that is what is being done. He said President Muhammadu Buhari is concerned about the issue. "..Nigeria has released 21 million dollars for the joint task force. That is money Nigeria can use in other areas but it has invested 21 million dollars in that joint task force. "That shows seriousness and I think July 21 has been picked as a date for that force to swing into action. Nobody can fairly accuse this government of not doing anything about Boko Haram. It is doing a lot and, eventually, we will see the end of insurgency. Chief of Army Staff, Major General T.Y. Buratai has said that, the Nigerian Army must wake up to its traditional responsibility of defending the integrity of the nation in the face of challenges posed by the Islamic sect, Boko Haram. Buratai who was speaking on Sunday during his visit to military formation in Konduga local government area of Borno state renamed the the operation from “Operation Zaman Lafiya” to ” Lafiya Dole” saying the change was informed owing to the fact that, government has given the insurgents the opportunity for peace but they threw it away, hence “enough is enough.” The new Army Chief, who addressed the troops assured them of continued support, adding that, it is their duty to ensure that peace returns to the northeast whether the insurgents like it or not. Obynolee:Do you know it's the NSA and DSS that has the sole right to issue license through the office of the president? EFCC has nothing to do with arms and armour vehicles, please don't comment out of ignorance or busy body, always ask first, through out there statement they did not mention anything like financial crime, or did they? Point one case were EFCC operatives arraign any individual in court over bullet proof cars or arms? This is purely national security not crime that's why it's termed treason or felony. |
This what I like about this writer, Fallacy! He like to deceive those that can't access the real news, and like quoting out of context, well for the purpose of your write up, I will like to make some clarifications but I will advise any liberal mind to read the whole story here ( http://www.punchng.com/news/our-dasuki-story-dss/) then you can make your own assessment not based on prejudice or 'I must attack them syndrome'. It's out of place for a former soldier to have soldier guarding him except he retired above a general or a former head of state, if all officer are to be assigned soldier guarding them I believe we will end up with more watch men soldiers than soldier that will guard this nation from any external aggression and hence the reason in pointing out this illegal arrangements cuz some people were busy labeling the man as due process man and has integrity, the question here is why did he accept such illegal arrangement knowing fully it's illegal? It's in public knowledge that the man has over shadow even defense minister to a point the man complain bitterly to a point that he wants to resign, if a man will influence a department that is not under his jurisdiction what would stop him from assigning this illegal arrangements to himself? The Second point, which to me points out the writers naivety and lack of security knowledge when it comes to firearm here in Nigeria, barcanista this is the most absurd and illogical argument ever put forward by a Writter, how can an ex service both NSA and military keep 7 high calibre riffle in his house? Do you even know the difference between riffle and a gun? Or even normal riffle and assault riffle? Do you know the meaning of high calibre riffle? Did you know that some low calibre or mid calibre riffle can kill 3km away? A common AK 47 have a killing range of 600meters away? A pistol have a killing range of just 50meters, How can you defend yourself with a high calibre riffle? When such arms can kill at a very long range? Why not use pistol or pump action? After all he has soldiers guarding him why did he need all this riffles for? To me he looks like the one that will make the first move than the one that will defend himself! Even Buhari as a former head of state doesn't have a riffle in his house talk much of a common ex NSA, if all a the ex service chiefs that fough with BH will use that as an excuse to acquire all this riffles, imagine how many high calibre of arms we will have in circulation and hence our national security will surely be compromised, The 3rd point, I believe any patriotic citizen suppose to condemn this kind of attrocity commited against the state, according to DSS " Twelve exotic vehicles were retrieved from Dasuki’s residence having failed to produce evidence of ownership. For instance, what could he be doing with five bullet proof cars as a retired NSA? These cars, which from all available evidence, were purchased with tax payers’ money were being kept for possible sinister enterprise.” It further said the lethal arms and vehicles recovered were not reflected in Dasuki’s handover notes. “What could a former NSA be doing with destructive weapons and bullet proof cars which put together could disrupt the peace of any city in Nigeria for a while? What more do you want? I will say it again, barcanista lack simple and common security knowledge, there is a procedure and limit in procuring armour vehicles in order not to jeopardize our national security, it's obvious the man didn't buy before, why now? Why 5? Does previous ex NSA have armour vehicles? And the op thinks it's ok. Smh Nobody is above the law, and there will be no kangaroo trial for any offender, a fair trial and possible convictions plus sentencing will follow due process and the constitution of the land, stop wailing and try to be logical and optimistic that this nation shall be great again. |

The Nigerian government appears to have finally succeeded in taking the pirate channel, Radio Biafra, off the airwaves in south east of the country after earlier claims turned out false. At 7:30 am Saturday, the broadcaster was off the air in Nnewi, Anambra State, where one of PREMIUM TIMES’ reporters monitored from. It was the first time the channel’s signal would be off in the last one week. The government’s initial claims of jamming the transmission and seizing Radio Biafra’s equipment were untrue as of Friday night. The Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Emeka Mba, on Friday said the commission had stopped the transmission of signals of Radio Biafra. Mr. Mba also said the radio’s operators had been arrested. “Working with security operatives, the commission has also tracked down, neutralized and confiscated transmitter equipment from several locations in the region,” he said. “Some suspects involved in the illicit broadcasts have also been arrested and taken to Abuja for questioning and prosecution. “The commission has also worked with other agencies to remove the transmissions of the illegal station from the satellite, and this has put paid to the divisive and disruptive transmissions.” However, by 10:08 p.m. on Friday, hours after the NBC’s statement was released, the pirate station, according to a PREMIUM TIMES South East correspondent, was still blaring its message in at least one location in the South East — Nnewi, Anambra State. The head of the channel, Nnamdi Kanu, was at the time, receiving calls from listeners and also mocking the government. He said the antics of the government was making the station even more popular. “Nothing can stop us and we are moving higher,” he said. The station also denied that its staff members were arrested. On Tuesday, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Shade Yemi-Esan, had told journalists that the NBC had jammed the station’s transmission. The radio station denied this via its twitter handle and listeners in the South East confirmed that the station had not gone off the airwaves. It was unclear if the suspension of transmission on Saturday was a result of government action. Radio Biafra, which claims to be broadcasting the ideology of the former breakaway republic, Biafra, has in the last weeks spewed inciting messages and propaganda. This is a story that has been hidden for more than 2000 years. It goes right back to the very beginning of Christianity and if true, it will rock everything that Christians believe in. It’s the story of the people that were closest to Jesus, the people who shared his bloodline. It’s original message was, however, too dangerous for the new religion. The Church official kidnapped the achievements and tried to delete the story. A Bible with over 1,500 years was discovered in Turkey and is of concern to the Vatican. That’s because the Bible contains the Gospel of Barnabas, who was one of the disciples of Christ, who traveled with the apostle Paul, which maintains a vision of Islam similar to that of Jesus Christ. barcanista:Morale? I doubt if you are a military man, but morale is that thing that pushes you to war without fear and sense of patriotism, morale is never about attacking, in war, people must die, and their must be a winner, during GEJ fiasco, many soldiers ran away from battlefield, or refused to go to war or MIA, some even went far to shot themselves just for them to evade the war front, that's cuz they lack morale which is essential due to corruption, lack for leadership, lack of arms and ammunition, and felt their is a fifth columnist that is always pushing them to death. The whole history has changed now upon all the noise BH are making in the background they couldn't seize one piece of land, but choose to go after soft target but not conventional the last time they tried to seize maiduguri-damaturu axis within few hours dead body everywhere and four of their vehicles were burnt down. |
Well it's obvious this writer always wants to criticise even when it's obvious, well based on my own analysis this writer belongs to the 12% of those people that think PMB is either babagoslow or has no plan, barcanista was being economical with the truth when he is comparing the number of people that dies in the last few weeks as the only yardstick used in assessing security rating! In real world, the number of dead is only one of the indices used in assessing security rating, troops morale, availability of arms, commitment from leadership, rally the whole masses against the monster, number of people that lost their lives within the period under study, and the rest and all of them carries equal mark, if the president fail in one doesn't mean he has fail in all ramifications, ask any army be it a soldier or an officer about his morale he will tell you it's just a matter of time before BH will seize to exist, he has released money for procurement of arms that will be used by strong arm 8500 soldiers from MTNJTF by the end of this month, for the first time, citizen have started reporting would-be suice bombers to the security agent, what does that tell you? He was able to rally both regional and world powers behind him, so the point is when u are sick, and you allow that sickness to fister for some times, after some times, you decided to take medicine, would that sickness disappear as soon as you take that medicine? No, you need time to allow the medicine to start attacking the diseases in different stages, at some stage, you. Only feel headache or dizziness or even dry mouth but after sometimes the whole thing will go away God willing, but by merely taking the drugs, you have started the process of eliminated the so called disease same thing is applicable to this present scenerio. When it comes to power, for the first time Nigeria has achieved a new electricity transmission peak of 4545 mega watts, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Tuesday. According to Seun Olagunju, general manager, public affairs of TCN, the feat was achieved at 9:45pm on Monday. The previous power transmission peak of 4517MW was attained on December 23, 2012. (https://www.nairaland.com/2450905/nigerias-power-transmission-all-time-peak). In just a space of one month he has made history, so if you are still experiencing black out is either ur area are not paying monthly fee so that company decides to give you blanket punishment or something is wrong with your area. Don't always criticise for critism sake, always look at the bright sight of everything besides this govt is just 2months old and you are expecting it to create magic why did Jonathan not create magic in the past 6years? Why did you people not vote for magician or a wizard? |
Some people will still think PMB has hand in what the sarakis of this world did to the party, well PMB refused to meet with saraki cuz of indiscipline but Jagaban is always welcome at the villa cuz he was part of the architecture and also one of the backbone of the common sense revolution. Jagaban the Tanaoids hate you cuz you refused their money and stand by the masses and God will surely reward you. And to Saraki; you are on your own. Bola Tinubu has denied claims that his “demands” from President Muhammadu Buhari have soiled their relationship. Speaking to journalists at the presidential villa on Tuesday after breaking fast with the president, Tinubu said he respects Buhari and remains loyal to him. The former governor of Lagos state said: “I have no demands of the party. If you understand what party politics and leadership is all about, it is about loyalty and commitment to the values which the leadership believes in. “I believe in what the President believes in, I respect him and I stand firmly loyal to his cause. So you can go to any length of speculation that you might want, I have not responded to all of that because I understand the President and the President understands me clearly.” He refused to comment on the crises in the national assembly. “That is an area where I am very cautious of my position and my utterances. I still want to keep my side of the interpretation or analysis to be able to achieve a resolution of the matter as quickly as possible,” he said. “I am backing what the President has carefully enumerated and articulated to the party. The party is supreme. The party must have disciplined leadership and followers. The party’s process must be respected because that is the confidence and the trust of the people. “However in every environment, we should have conflict, that is politics and conflict resolution mechanism would be applied to resolve all the problems so we are there. There is honour in every struggle and every competition, there must be honour in victory too.” He promised that APC would avoid the mistake of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “We are different, we cannot be PDP, we are APC, we will not repeat their mistakes. We know their mistakes, errors, we understand what Nigeria wanted and Nigerians gave this party victory because of our manifesto,” he said. “We are pro-people, we are progressives. We have had a conservative government in the last 16 years, this is a progressive party, just coming in barely 30 days. We understand the hope of Nigerians, we understand the expectations of Nigerians, we believe in that expectation and in our promise of prosperity to the people. We will not change that.” Rotimi Amaechi, former governor of Rivers state, also attended the breaking of fast. Ever since Slow and steady wins the race, things have started takin shape, great achievement in less than 2months is amazing and can only be achieved by a leader that means we'll for this great nation of ours, patience is a virtuous that must tanoid lacks, they are eager and ever demanding as if they voted for PMB, complaining and looking for " I told you" situation to attack the progressive mind but God will not allow them to have the last laugh, Cuz God has decree it " this Nation shall work again and it shall be great again". Nigeria has achieved a new electricity transmission peak of 4545 mega watts, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced on Tuesday. According to Seun Olagunju, general manager, public affairs of TCN, the feat was achieved at 9:45pm on Monday. The previous power transmission peak of 4517MW was attained on December 23, 2012. TCN management had last week informed consumers that electricity wheeling to the distribution companies had improved to over 4000MW owing to improvement in fuel supply to the power generation plants. “TCN assures that it will continue to work towards enhancing its power wheeling capability and reliability of the network to be able to deliver more quality electricity from the generation plants to the distribution companies nationwide,” Olagunju added. The "Cursed"child is back again with his anti-party and rubbishing the Party, hoping and praying with all the sabotage and back stabbing that come 2019 he will be seen for all irrespective of party affiliation, this kind of game has never happen anyway around the world, what he fail to understand is; he is simply playing with fire that will surely consume him on the long run, it's obvious now why Jagaban doesn't want this clown to head the senate, "over ambitious" and self centred is the only words that can describe Saraki, I don't know whether PDP will ever trust a decampee after watching what Saraki is doing to his new party and APC will never forgive this man so tell him how can he win 2019 or 2050 election? As it is now, No Northerner will vote for him same goes for SW, he is now left with SS and SE and Kwara state, going by the happenings in the country, SE will not go for a perceived Northerner and the SS people will not forgive the "brat" for the part he played in rubbishing their own Son, so the only zone left for him is Kwara state, with the help of lai Muhammed he will not get a pass mark from their cuz I trust Jagaban will deplore all his political arsenal just to finished off the "brat". Those powerful people that are pushing Saraki are the same sort of people that push GEJ to go for second term; are you thinking of what am thinking? Who knows may be one day Saraki may also be spotted at "generale Société bank" for BVN Reg just like GEJ in first Bank? |
