My brother let me help you. We the Ikwerres as far back as 1964 form Ogbakor Ikwerre Convention when we were in Eastern Region together with the Igbos. Soon after that Igbos formed Ohaneze Ndi Igbo.
In 1965 in Rumuomasi Ikwerre had what is today called Rumuomasi Declaration declaring that they are neither Ijaw, Ogoni or any other ethnic group including the Igbo.
Scientific studies have been carried out using DNAs of Igbos and Ikwerres the conclusion was that they are distinct people. Igbo professors at Uniport carried out this study.
