Tell madam that u have a bullseye target on your back, say if she Bleep up I ll just snatch u one tiime
Hmmmm.... 1st of all, in context, the "loun loun" means that the 1000 pieces of $1 bills dey too much, thus the bigger denominations to reduce the quantity of bills (something like that).

Secondly, (serubawon whispering), are you trying to get me killed or something? Olori is a very jealous female. If she sees what you wrote, she'll eliminate me first and then come looking for you. That'll be really ugly.

FamilyRe: The Family Section Fun Room!! by serubawon(m):
My sincere sympathies to the friends of the departed. Losing a loved one (family or friend) is a very painful and depressing situation and sometimes it makes you lose faith in the purpose of our existence. However, it helps to look at it this way - Everything has a purpose and a reason in life. Most things we can't understand and never will. We believe she's in a place where she doesn't have to worry or bother about the mundane things of life. A place we don't really understand, but strive to get there after our journey on earth. It's a painful, but necessary evil. I never knew her, but I believe she would want her friends to celebrate her life ( no matter how short), instead of grieving for her. She obviously made a mark that won't be easily forgotten. So, let's thank God for the privilege of being a part of her life and vice versa. I truly pray she's happy and in the bosom of our Lord up there.

FamilyRe: The Family Section Fun Room!! by serubawon(m): 4:37pm On Nov 23, 2013
deols: Thank you for that. Most of the stories I heard of geologists was about their unbelief.

I got scared for my lil bro who got admission to study it at two American Universities. He did not go eventually. My dad said he was too young, etc

But I had the thought that the rligion angle was a factor in not allowing him.
These days, it's not a problem. Your profession and religious beliefs are kept in 2 co-existing, but separate compartments. I know for a fact that it took millions of years to create the universe, I also believe that God created the earth in 6 days. How do I marry these together? Well, read your bible. One day in eyes of the Lord is like a thousand years and vice versa. Think about it. The millions of human years it took to create the earth and the universe, might just be the equivalent of 6 days in the eyes of our Lord. So, it's not really a problem, only if you dwell on it too much. The dinosaurs, did exist and that is scientific fact. The more you try to unravel the mystery, the more mysterious it becomes. Just like God.

I've learned early to not mix science with religion. It's like inviting a nervous breakdown. I'm a proud spirit filled xtian and will remain that way till I get to heaven. Shikena!!

bellong: If there is an award for "professional religious" people, geologists will be on the frontline to win it. The complexity and processes going on both on the surface and beneath the earth are enough to know it requires the working of a supreme being. Not even talking about other planets. Although science try as much as possible to give explanations for all the processes but it can't still explain where the original material for the big bang came from.

I am a geologist...and I believe in God. I remember my days in Ife during the history of the earth lesson. The lecturer bamboozed us with so many scientific theories and as a green horn with religious mind, I started throwing questions at the guy. When he got tired of my questions, he said I was not asking scientific questions grin grin grin grin
Hear, hear grin
FamilyRe: The Family Section Fun Room!! by serubawon(m): 4:15pm On Nov 23, 2013
@bellong. Do you still practice? I gave up long time ago and went into the banking sector to make money jare. Unfortunately, here in the states, getting a job as a geologist, without the required experience is like impossible. I lost the love for the profession long time ago and I don't regret it one bit either wink
FamilyRe: The Family Section Fun Room!! by serubawon(m): 4:11pm On Nov 23, 2013
deols: @bellong, I only caught the part where you called someone else a fellow geologist.

Do you geologists really get taught to not believe in God?
Now that question brings back memories. They don't actually teach us not to believe in God, but they definitely don't believe in the notion that the universe was created by a supernatural being somewhere. I remember GEO101 and this was like our 1st adventure into the creation of the universe. When it came to the discussion point, we had this SU lady with a very strong igbo accent and she challenged the professor saying the world was created by God in 6 days and that we were committing a sin by saying otherwise. The professor looked like he was going to have a stroke. He was so pissed off that someone had the 3rd world audacity to challenge the fact the the earth was made by a mixture of rocks and gases over a period of millions of years and they got into this unnecessary argument (which the student can never win). Long story short, she failed the class and had to take it again the next year, which sadly added an extra year to her program. The rest of us? well, we learned to keep our religious beliefs out of the lecture theater and behave like God didn't exist, until we left the class.

So, make your own deductions about that. It was pretty weird though. Those professors really didn't believe in the creation of the universe by God and who was I to say otherwise. grin

bellong: @Serubawon, fellow geologist...how's the preparation going? May heavens bless the union and make you both fruitful in all areas.
At long last, a fellow rock breaker. Preparations are going a bit slow, but that can't be helped. We have to wait till January and there is an issue with the kids schools, which we're trying to iron out. This is the part where I envy oyinbo people. They just go out and get hooked and that's it - Mr & Mrs Oyinbo don appear. Naija people? The whole village must know and then one lopsided individual who you never knew existed comes from nowhere, insisting that he/she has a say also. The naija part of it is the one driving me nuts right now. It's all worth it though. grin

Yes, my man cave. A man deserves to have a place where he can experience peace with his chi. Since I can't have a TV in the room, I get my man cave. Guess what she says: "Your man cave is for both of us". What the hell is it a man cave for!? I kind of forgot how domineering you women like to be on us understanding guys. Well, what can i do, I love the woman. So, I'm done for. angry

My man cave, I can't wait.

Joy4mi: Amen sir,
I promise not disappoint u cos u r my e-mentor(lol, i hope dere is a word like dat sha).
Its nt easy to be a pastor's wife o,i am praying for strength and wisdom to reach out to people.
May God see us thru. (amen)smiley
Emi nikan tan. E-mentor ke? Well, I am flattered that you consider me to be a mentor and I pray that I will be able to live up to that reputation ( scary though).

As a pastor's wife, the Lord shall grant you the wisdom of Christ. The bible says that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the holy, understanding". The Lord shall grant you wisdom to exceed your husband's expectations and amongst your peers, you shall excel.

I look forward to hearing more encouraging testimonies.

Thanks, Sir Ser.

How's madam and the girls? Congrats on your forthcoming D-day smiley[/quote]Everyone is fine o. Had a meeting with the realtor concerning the new house we want to build and I'm still trying to figure out how everyone gets their own rooms with a tv in it and madam refuses a tv in ours. It only makes my argument for my man cave stronger. I don't even have control over the shirts I wear. Women and their exercise of absolute power huh

salsera: @serubobo

Rules of the house, introduce yourself

I no dey fight - thats why i avoid politics section grin
Ok. I'm not one to break the rules of the house.

I'm serubawon. Male, Nigerian based in Houston TX. Was widowed for 9 years, but soon to be remarried to the most mysterious and beautiful creature in the universe aka - Olori. I have 3 wonderful kids ( mine and hers). Geologist by training, Project Coordinator by profession.

Serubawon was given to me in college by some mischievous friends of mine. It had something to do with me having too many girlfriends and intimidating other guys. Serubawon literally means " intimidation".

I'm immensely patient, extremely calm and very collected. I'm the resident relationship fixer since my friend's wives think I'm the only one with my head screwed on straight ( if only they knew).

I love my God, I love life and try my best to help my fellow man to the best of my abilities. I love iyan with efo riro. Love to read novels and watch movies.

Ok salsera, satisfied?
